I've come by Kingslayer Games a few times over the last few months and my last experience here made me happy that there was a solid LCS nearby. They normally have a fair amount of sealed for different TCGs with singles in their glass case. I do wish they did carry more One Piece singles/sealed. I came recently for the release of the new One Piece set. They resolved an issue of people trying to save spots in line with their chairs. They handled it very well and professionally, which showed me that Kingslayer respects and cares for their community. I'll be visiting their new store once they change locations! read more

I visited Kingslayer on 09/15/2025 while hunting for One Piece cards. They didn't have blisters or booster boxes that day, but I was impressed with their variety of starter decks. Beyond One Piece, they also carry a wide range of games: Magic: The Gathering, Lorcana, Pokémon (Japanese), Warhammer, Union Arena, plus a small selection of board games you can actually sit down and play in-store. Their website also offers even more if you're browsing from home. When I walked in, the place was absolutely packed -- they were hosting a card night for Yu-Gi-Oh! and Lorcana. At first, I was intimidated (I'm a bit shy), but the energy was fun, and everyone there was friendly. They also sell snacks, which makes it a great hangout spot if you're planning to stay for matches. Heads up: the shop is moving locations soon. I didn't get the exact new address, but it's just down the street. From the poster, it looks like the new space will have more room for players and extra bathrooms, which will definitely be an upgrade. What stood out most to me was the staff. Despite how busy the store was, they were welcoming and patient. I had two main interactions: first with a gentleman who explained the step-by-step process for selling cards (currently only English OPTCG). The system is straightforward: you list what you're selling on their website, they reach out, you bring the cards in, and within 24-48 hours they'll make you an offer. Then I spoke with Nat, who went above and beyond. I mentioned that I was a collector who was new to playing, and they took the time to explain every One Piece starter deck available, answering all my follow-up questions without rushing me. I left with the Buggy and Ace & Edward Newgate decks thanks to their guidance. Nat also told me about their 1:1 teaching sessions for beginners -- they're very accommodating to your schedule, making it super easy to get started. I already signed up for my first session! For OPTCG, they have 3 well versed players! Nat was telling me how one of them even went to regionals! How cool is that!? Overall, Kingslayer is a gem for both collectors and players. I called yesterday asking if they're open for the holidays and they were today, but even though Yelp said they open at 11 AM, they actually opened at 10! Right as I entered the door, I was greeted by a kind HI WELCOME! There's a first little room with budget board games that you can purchase or play which I definitely would've loved to be able to spend some time. There are playing the last of us or Dune, but I was on a mission to get some pokemon cards for a friends birthday. There's a huge selection from Pokémon to Magic gathering to other animes that you watch. All the all the staff was absolutely friendly and helpful. I was able to pick up some singles and be on my merry way. Overall I had a wonderful experience here. If I ever need to come back for some cards or any games this is the place to go to! I love this shop! Very friendly and knowledgeable!!! My daughter is a collector and we have had a really great experience here with a lot of great pulls from the Pokemon boxes we bought. I love that they are a close knit community and do not endorse scalpers by letting people buy a ton of products! Limit one on some items so everyone has an opportunity to collect!!! I can't say enough good things about this shop, it's hard work to bring players and collectors together and have fun what it's all about, not all this greed and hoarding I see with products. My friend stepped away from the line for about 40 minutes to find a restroom, and instead of showing even an ounce of understanding, the manager kicked her out and was completely dismissive while she tried to explain herself. He didn't listen. He didn't care. This rigid, unempathetic treatment is unacceptable. Restroom access is not equally simple for everyone, and the total lack of compassion was infuriating. I had played magic cards at this store several years back but have sinced moved and stopped playing card games but I enjoyed the events they put on. For what it is worth, I was never really a big spender and I maybe went in a few times a month. Anyways, I see the owner Travis while walking in the concourse at a Ducks game and I slow down to say hi, and he was super nice and even remembered my name. If that doesn't show superior customer service, I do not know what does! I played in the Spider-Man Magic: The Gathering pre-release at noon Sept. 20. The location is apparently moving soon and hopefully for the better, because the experience was not pleasant. The space is large, but only a single standalone air-conditioning unit attempts to cool it. Southern California this week is under a heat wave of an unusually (for now) high humidity. I sweat easily, so I thought maybe it was just my personal suffering from the beginning of the event. However, by the third hour of the event, my much physically smaller and healthier opponent of that round was flush red and dripping sweat as well. I did feel the air conditioning in the final hour of the four-hour event, but by then most of the participants were gone. Tip: The AC unit is positioned near the top tables, so perform adequately and you will be OK! Also, I no longer live in Orange County, so only return on occasion to play with friends that still live there. I had signed up to play the prior set's pre-release but my friend had a medical emergency preventing us from playing. I had called slightly before the event start time to cancel, but they were understandably busy with the actual event, so I was instructed to call back later. I was not reciprocated with similar understanding. Please note that the only thing warm about this place is the physical temperature, not the customer service. Their adherence to their tight return policy is strict. Thankfully, I am fortunate enough to fully absorb the cost of my extenuating circumstances. read more

One of the best LGS's I've visited and been a part of. I'm a frequent customer and part of a few communities based out of this location and their management, staff, and community have really made it a special place. The prices are fair and what you'd expect around the industry and they've made the effort to go above and beyond with more to come. Clean restrooms and store, well organized stock, polite and helpful staff, and an owner who not only cares but listens to his community. If you're looking for a new home for a hobby or you'd like to try joining a new community for an established game or scene, I highly suggest this one. They sold me a faulty set of dice. Literally the first time I rolled the D100 to determine the mount I would use to make my getaway, I rolled a one. A one! Out of a hundred! That got me a giant rat with a saddle on it. Then I rolled to see how far it would go... Grand total of four feet. There absolutely needs to be a lemon law on dice. On the other hand... I guess they were polite and helpful and gave me space to browse without bothering me, so I guess maybe I'll give them another shot. read more

Almost every event I've attended at this location has been poorly run, prizing is lackluster and the staff is less than helpful in any situation outside of taking payment and answering basic questions. I came here years ago and the staff was extremely rude, so I decided to not come back. I should've stuck to my word. However, they were the only store nearby that carried Disney Lorcana, so I went to buy a starter pack. The staff were at least nice this time, but I didn't realize until later than they massively overcharged me for the starter packs. MSRP is $16.99 and they charged me $24.99, a 47% markup from MSRP. Travis, thank you for your response. I see now why your staff was so rude the first time I went in. It must stem from the top based on your response. You are correct that the "S" stands for suggested. You are also right that it is your prerogative to charge anything you'd like. The price was also clearly marked, I just didn't realize what the MSRP price was until I got home and already opened the product. There are multiple ways of running a business. One is to charge MSRP and not take advantage of your customer's excitement and create a customer base that trusts you and wants to return, and the other is to charge market rates for everything and be like the used car dealerships of the world and take advantage of your customers and take them for every penny you can. It's your prerogative to operate your business however you'd like. However, I will definitely not be returning to your store for any reason, and I would hope others don't either. Previously I've had really great experiences with ordering a TCG box, talking about awesome card/games w/employees, & seeing all the awesome singles they have. It was always a joy to come in & see everything + everyone. Recently it hasn't been the same. In the past couple visits people have been more gloomy, the customer service is pretty poor, & a recent experience left a sour impression for me. When it comes to trading in cards, KingSlayer does 50% of the average TcgPlayer Pricing which is considered standard. However on the day I came, they did 50% of the lowest price listed & although I mentioned it couple times when searching myself, I was basically ignored & it happened multiple times. Ended up with a lot less value. Example $30 Average Listing Price = $15 Cash $16 Lowest Listing Price = $8 Cash While I understand small businesses have hard obstacles to overcome, unfair & poor practices with customers is not a great business model. Ethics & Customer Loyalty are. Generally it's common knowledge that you can get most TCG packs/bundles these days cheaper at Big Box Stores(Target, Gamestop, Best Buy, The Pokemon Center), & for TCG accessories, I'd recommend Franks or Online now. Overall my reason for not being a 2 Rating is because my first experiences were good & it seems tournaments are alright. I haven't been here in awhile, but perhaps I can give it another try another day, the prices to me seem a bit too much. read more

Came for some Sleeves and to look at bulk cards. Was told by staff they don't really do bulk and that most of their sells of singles are on the store site. Next to me during the conversation was another person looking at singles in bulk... So, I assumed the staff member was unaware. When I was looking at some of the cards, the staff member comes to me and says each card un-sleeve is a dollar and each sleeved is 2 dollars. When I then asked if that box was some bulks, he said oh yea and then handed it over to me. It felt like prior to me looking at the cards he was relaxed, but the minute I was looking at them he was watching me like an hawk and being very cautious... Overall I didn't like the experience of being lied to about not having bulk to look at and also the constant supervision once I started looking. Would not recommend to anyone who's not a regular, I assume they don't really like outsiders. read more

These two people are so welcoming and are down to earth to everyone that comes into the store. I brought my daughter in a few times and she was always welcomed with smiles. She now loves going to events with me. Ennis even gave her a new title "Lucky Charm" which she loves. James is always willing to help and gives you solid opinions on any game or product in the store. I've been frequently heading to Kingslayer Games now for about 2 months. As they are my LGS. I was gifted a Magic Commander deck by a friend but it had been 30+ years (omg 30 years) since I had last played or thought about playing Magic at a Dragons Den in NY. Once I found Kingslayer, I went through their website, looked at almost everything, and saw they listed something called Squire Training which if you sign up for it. Someone from the store will spend time with you, answering questions, go through mechanics, play, have you feel comfortable. I happened to get to meet Alex Cuevas doing this, and his knowledge of the game of Magic has just been outstanding. I've learned so much about the game, strategy and becoming comfortable playing the game in public at a store adds a feeling of community that is so calming. Just to have someone walk you through every step, how to play the game politely is enough to think this is worth it. Also... it's free. I am VERY disappointed in how this store decided to move forward with an online order I placed for some cards, especially because it seems like they have very good reviews otherwise. Last weekend, I placed an order for 4 foil Magic: the Gathering cards, each of which was about $0.60-0.70. In the days that followed, the market price of these cards increased to about $8 per card. Despite this increase in price, I had hoped that this store would honor the price I paid for the cards in good faith. After 48 hours since the purchase, however, I received notification that this order had been canceled and that a refund was issued, with no explanation for why. Immediately, I emailed them directly and contacted them through their website asking why the order was canceled, but for another 48 hours I did not hear back from them. Even now, I have yet to hear back from them. After my order was canceled, when I looked at the price of the non-foil version of the cards I had ordered on their website, I noticed that they had changed the price of the card to reflect the current market price. I noticed they had done this to a few other cards I had kept my eye on as well. This tells me that they canceled my order because they realized the value of the cards had increased and did not want to honor the price at which I bought them for. This is incredibly disappointing behavior for a store that seems to be beloved by its community and it certainly breaks any trust I had in the store. I will not be making any further purchases here knowing that they will willingly cancel orders to benefit their own pockets and will seemingly not communicate with customers to explain the reasoning for their actions. Very, very disappointed. EDIT: The owner of the store has since reached out to me after seeing this review and let me know that it was likely some error within their system that caused the cancellation and that they never cancel orders due to price increases in cards. They have offered to replace the cards from the cancelled order. read more

We as a group of 8 were looking for a place to play our board games. The staff was very friendly when we walked in, and they told us that we could play our board games there for free! Not only that, they had a water station and a very clean bathroom for us to use. We ended up staying for about 2 hours, and it was a great time. I then bought some card sleeves (they had an excellent stock of card sleeves) that I have been meaning to buy to sleeve some of my board game cards. I visited here this past weekend to explore local card shops in the area while driving back home. I took my nephew in hopes we find great deals and not overpriced items. Everything was fairly priced well, clean and presentable with price tags placed on the items except on the peg hooks by the counter.
