I like to sample drinks from different espresso stands and coffee shops. I had a few hours to explore and Boom! Coffee was the closest spot on my Yelp list for Anchorage. I noticed in another Yelp review that someone mentioned getting a peanut butter mocha made with real Reese's syrup. I love the combination of peanut butter and chocolate together and decided to stop by pick up a liquid dessert. When I pulled up, I did not see it on the menu, but I asked about it and the barista said yes, they had a peanut butter mocha. I will digress here and note that the barista disarmed me by leaning out and asking, first, "How are you?" rather than "What can I get you?" It is not easy, in the short transactions at a drive-thru, to make a genuine connection with the customer, but this guy really did it). I asked for an 8oz, as I prefer 8oz drinks when I am by myself, but he said that their smallest size was 12oz. I said ok. Anyway, as he was making it, I noticed he used Torani peanut butter syrup, not Reese's, so the Reese's must be gone. Then he asked if I wanted white chocolate or regular and I said white, and then realized that was probably going to be more expensive. So my drink wound up being $4.30 which is partially my fault and partially the fault of the stand (they had 8oz drinks advertised but did not have them available). Anyway, how was the drink? It was different than what I was expecting, in that the peanut butter flavor was not very strong, but it was still very yummy. It also did the trick to perk me up and make me more willing to go back out and work on my bush grocery shopping. I debated between 3 and 4 stars. The reason for 3 is that they don't have the 8oz drinks and the Torani peanut butter is not too nutty. But on the other hand, the drink was properly made and was tasty in its own way. And the barista was a dear. So there you go. read more

I was super excited to get a redbull smoothie from Boom! but i waited for a good 30 minutes just to get a single drink, the line was RIDICULOUS! I also was behind a car & timed them & it took them 10 minutes to make 2 drinks! The price for a 24oz redbull smoothie was $7. We stopped at Boom! Coffee two mornings in a row while we were staying in Anchorage. Our first time we were greeted by the absolutely lovely Sophie who's warm and friendly reception made us feel like we were all old friends. I ordered an Americano with heavy cream and she asked if I would like it steamed, and I asked really? And she said of course whatever you like. The Americano was incredible! All of the staff here is friendly and personable but Sophie is a true gem. Thank you so much! read more

It's the only coffee stand/shop open 24/7 in Anchorage. The employees are friendly, but the drinks are a hit or miss every time. Even if you order the same drink from the same barista, it could be way different than the last. Tonight's order was very bad. I ordered a 16 oz. Iced Vanilla Latte made with Soy milk, but got it hot and made with regular milk. Also ordered a smoothie that had some liquid at the bottom that was not mixed it. read more

I was so happy when BOOM opened so close to my office and the first couple of times I was there it made me even happier to find a great staff and good coffee. Not so much anymore. I stayed long enough to fill out a full punch card and then was told that I even though I order the same thing every time I go there that the free one after 10 punches is only for a free 16oz. drink. Ok I get that...trying to keep costs down BUT....Since all I order is a 20oz shouldn't there be something on the card saying your only going to get a 16oz? My MEH feeling of this place doesn't stop there though.....Keep in mind that I order the exact same drink every time.....I have been charged a different price for the exact same drink almost every time I go there. The price ranges from $4.00-$5.25. WHY?? out of the 11 times I have been there I have yet to have the same worker even though I generally go midday. I have only had one drink that made me actually say "mmmmmm perfect" and it was made by the manager. (who might I add was genuinely very nice) My other problem with this place is the wait.....Why are there not 2 people in the morning and at noon?? your busiest times. I waited in line and at the window this morning for almost 15 mins. Most of that time was at the window waiting for the gal to quit chitchatting with the person on the other side. Boom is my go to place! The workers are so sweet and fast! They make great drinks and have delicious food! I highly recommend!

Why does it take so long to make a drink? Waiting in line for over 10-15mins and when you get to the window it's likely 10min wait also if not more. It's ridiculous and they're the only ones in town that's 24hrs? It'll help if they had faster service and more workers. All in all the drinks are good though. read more

Not only is the coffee absolutely amazingly delicious, but I have yet to be disappointed in any order I have made; from coffee to muffins & pastries to tea, smoothies, and more. I think the best part, aside from the incredible coffee, is the customer service. These ladies are always so positive and really take care of patrons. They remember my drink every time I pull up with my protein shake that I use as creamer. The even remembered I went on a trip for school and asked about it the next time I drove through. These people care about what they do, and they do it extremely well. This is definitely my favorite coffee shop in Anchorage. Oh, and they're open 24/7 which makes me a very happy guy. read more

I went by around 2 in the afternoon and there were 4-5 people crammed into their tiny hut preparing food and drinks without wearing a mask. The barista who made my drink said they were "filming" and that's why the employees were temporarily mask-less, but I don't quite see how that makes it safe or okay. They do seem to have a long wait time sometimes even with 3 people working which is shocking...but overall I keep coming back! read more

In the beginning when the owner was there, coffees were good and made correctly. Now, that the owner isn't there the place has went down hill. I usually go at 4:15am before work and on the weekends the workers friends would be hogging the lines, they were slow, my coffees were never made right, never the same price for the same coffee and the coffee was always cold. Thought I would give it another chance this morning because I thought after a couple months they would have there stuff together. Clearly I was wrong. Coffee was not correct and still cold. Just the other day my flight got in late, it was my friends birthday and I wanted to get her a treat. We pulled up to Boom at 11:35pm. I live for the 24hrs. The two gentlemen that were there were dealing with a small rush (just a few cars on each side). We didn't want to be to much work because they were already rushed but they still treated us wonderfully and gave us great service. He even gave my friend a lollipop and whip cream for her birthday. It was just a great experience at a good coffee shop (I always miss quality coffee when I leave Alaska). I highly recommend Boom! read more

I was reccomending this coffee shop until today. My sisters who flew in wanted redbulls. We pull up and order coffees and redbull italian sodas. We told the man who was working around 8 pm in a green shirt that it was flat, u can clearly see there was no carbonation at all. Even if redbulls have way less carbonation, there aint no way it got flat in the minute he handed it to us. Instead of apologizing and remaking it, he argued with us and said ill take it back if u dont want it but i'm still going to charge you because thats what you asked for. We said taste it and tell us what u think. They said they tasted it and told us it was fine. So we said can u just remake it and he said yeah but im gonna charge u for another one additional to the one u didnt like. We asked him, why would we pay for something we didnt drink or are taking home and now that you guys have drank out of it, we def arent taking it. We asked for a mgr and he said he was working with the owners daughter who doesnr have anymore authority than he does, so we said okay we would still like to talk to her, she basically said im not calling my mom, youre paying for the drink and we said $4 shouldnt hurt your business to accomodate the customer. She said im still gonna charge u and we said were not paying for that drink. N she told us dnt come back. Mind u, we paid for the other ones. That by far is the worst customer service weve ever had. Me and my sisters have been baristas and we have never thought to do that to anybody, esp if they were paying reasonable customers. read more

Worse customer service ever!! They told us not to come back and we aren't. Let me start by explaining what happened. Prices are great which explains why they give half quality products. The guy gave us a Red Bull Italian soda which was flat. After I explained that it was flat, he suggested we were lying due to the fact that many customers that are indecisive come to the shop and order untimely. In conclusion he explained that Red Bull has less carbonation than soda, which is a no brainer and that he would taste it to see if our taste buds are up to par. MIND YOU he lets the owner's daughter taste it as well for her approval and says it's fine and demands we pay for the drink additional to the remake. So at check out he remakes our Red Bull, and tries to charge us for the flat Red Bull that they BOTH put their lips on plus the one they remade!! After arguing with the guy and the owners daughter who told us she didn't have time for us we ended up not paying for the drink they put their LIPS on, which was what should've been said at the start, so here we are writing this review. read more
