This pizza spot is a great fit for the van aken district. With a place order line and then either a pickup line or you can take a seat and they bring out your order, it makes for a good flow inside. It was only about 10 minutes before we had our pizza which was great since it wasn't crowded but there were a lot of people coming in and out with orders. We got the vegan sausage and peppers pizza and it was great! The perfect amount of salty, spicy, and a great texture.

Located right next to the one parking garage entrance (very important in these cold months), we went on a Friday night and although it was crowded, we were able to get a table with no issue. You order at the counter and then seat yourself. They bring your order to your table when it's ready - you can also get it for takeout. They had a wide variety of pizza offerings (including Vegan!!). We got the vegan sausage and pepper and it was the perfect amount for 2 people. Staff was very nice throughout our entire experience.

Margherita pizza with sparse basil

I debated on 3 or 4 stars. I'm thrilled we have a real wood fired pizza place close by. We walked to the Van Aken District today, not realizing it was Fall Fest so lots of people, music, and little trick or treaters. One small group was ahead of me but it took over 5 minutes to sort them out. The other counter worker basically ignored me as she casually handed a couple of folks there to go boxes. I thought she would take my order, but no. My go-to pizza is Margherita. I can't recommend this one. It's got great crust, sauce, and cheese but almost no basil - the key to a really good Margherita pizza. I recommend getting a cheese pizza for $4.00 less and bring your own basil. Last time I got the Margherita, I asked for extra basil and got a bit more, but still disappointed. I forgot to ask for extra basil today so I ended up with a cheese pizza with a tiny bit of basil.

Yes! This is a great place !!! The pizza is amazing! My daughter and I enjoyed the white pizza with Grandma! She thought it was delicious, too! We also tried pepperoni pizza! So good! Service is good, too!

Delicious! We ordered take out and switched out pepperoni to the sausage. The only downside was the 1 hour wait! Wow. We were surprised by how long takeout took and actually went home for a little bit. Not sure if dining in would have been quicker, but something to note if you're thinking of taking it out just to eat outside during the summer. Pizza tasted delicious. Dough was cooked to perfection. I know because I'm a crust gal Will be coming back (hoping it does not take a hour wait next time though!)

Honey isn't vegan. Menu still has it on a vegan pizza. The pizza that is actually vegan is pretty good.

Casual service meets fantastic food in an environment perfect for families & groups of friends…read more Each time I visit Northstar Cafe I love it more (and wish more deeply it would expand to a Westside location). For brunch, my go to is the biscuits and gravy. The gravy has a good heat to it and the biscuits are flaky and buttery. For lunch, the buddha bowl and chicken & avocado sandwich are both elevated classics. My husband raves about the fish sandwich - and the salad that comes as a side is anything but simple. When you enter, you'll order with the cashier and then find a seat with your number. Typical counter service - but what makes Northstar special is that the interior feels more like fine dining and the food is much much better than your standard fare. Worth a trip for its own merits, the fact that it's located in a nice shopping area is also a draw, especially for a weekend when you want to have a leisurely stroll.

You enter and order at the counter and then get a table. We were not planning on desserts but while ordering our food, they got fresh cookies and we had to order two. It was definitely the best decision of the day. Portions are good here and dishes are well prepared with perfect combination of textures and tastes. I especially loved the sweet potato hash. Frittata was good too. We also had hot chocolate and hot apple cider... Perfect for the cold January morning. Overall we liked this place and highly recommend it.

Got the salad bowl both times with hummus and basically loaded it up with everything, and it just works no matter what combo you put together. Tried the chicken on one visit and the brisket on the other, both were fabulous. Fair warning though, the brisket is subject to availability, so don't count on it being there every time. Do yourself a favor and order the fries at least once even if you're trying to be good. They complement the bowl perfectly, and throwing a few fries right into the salad is genuinely a great move. Also have to mention the beer selection. Good local options and reasonably priced, which is a nice touch alongside the food. This place earns the trip back any time I'm in the area.

The hummus is also a favorite. I love a salad bowl with greens, hummus, falafel, special sauce, pickled cabbage + extra carrots. Don't sleep on the tahini chocolate chip cookies, either. It's a favorite stop when I'm in the area for work.

There are tons of food options including pizza, pasta, poutine, sandwiches, salads, and a huge variety of desserts. It's definitely one of those places where everyone can find something they like which makes it great for groups. I decided to try the chicken shawarma poutine, and even though it sounded a little different at first, it ended up being absolutely delicious. The fries were crispy, the chicken was flavorful, and the toppings all came together perfectly. I noticed a lot of other unique dishes at different stalls too which makes me want to go back and try more. The prices were very reasonable as well especially for the quality and portion sizes. What really stood out, though, was the atmosphere. There was live music playing, which gave the whole place such a lively and fun vibe. You can even order a beer and just walk around or head outside to enjoy it in the fresh air. Between the food variety, affordable prices, and the relaxed but energetic setting, I think this spot is perfect for a casual meal or even a night out with friends. I'll definitely be going back!

Burrata salad could serve 4 as an appetizer. And our pizza was absolutely delicious. The pear was sliced so thinly that it was a nice balance to the pistachio rather than being overly sweet. It really feels like you're stepping into Italy and offers a cozy and warm vibe. It's connected to its partner restaurant, Barocco, which is Latin cuisine and can be ordered inside La Pecora if you choose to. The food at La Pecora was great, they offer a wide array of cocktails and flavor options for pizzas and salads. You definitely are not getting your traditional and basic flavor options here for pizza but they do it very well. The pizza is thin and with a lot of toppings can be a bit floppy but that's typical. It has a great crust and I appreciate being able to see the pizza going into the pizza fired oven to get the great crust! Everything was delicious and the complimentary bread was PHENOMENAL. Tasted like a mix of garlic bread and pizza but elevated. The service was also fantastic, the woman who took care of us was taking care of the bar as well as all the tables. She did great and was super knowledgeable of the entire menu and bar. All the cocktails were great and looked just like the photos! Overall, La Pecora Pizzzabar is a great place to gather and eat some good food. Thin pizza which will leave you satisfied and not feeling heavy, while also offering a wide array of bold flavors and options for salads, appetizers and cocktails. Definitely stop in if you are in the area (or if you're not!)
