I've had two experiences here recently. We ordered pizza the first time. The pizza was good. The service was friendly. The restaurant was very clean. The interior looked really pleasant, though we took the pizza to go, so we didn't really have the full Geraci's experience. It seemed to have a relaxed vibe - maybe even cozy / romantic with the lights low in the evening. The second time, we ordered an entire tray of tiramisu for my daughter's birthday party. This was my first time trying this establishment. The cannoli's are good. I also got their fried donuts and fell in love .Their pizza was good but I'll rather have more pepperoni. The spaghetti could use a little more seasoning in my personal opinion. I like a lot of spaghetti sauce. They didn't give me enough. Not sure if it's a cultural thing or just my personal preference. Great wait staff, clean restaurant environment, very accommodating for kids. The fresh bread at the start of the meal is delicious and so was the Italian salad. The zucchini fries as our appetizer were also tasty and super crispy. Only giving a four out of five because the sauce on the pasta was good but tasted a little bit burnt. Completely unremarkable totally average not bad not great barbecue chicken pizza. Had pineapple and rather dry chicken chunks. Had plenty of toppings but the crust was on the dry overly hard side. The fried mozzarella came as two giant hunks of soft melty cheese with breading and a container of tasty hot chunky marinara sauce. The spingi was a mound of not exactly light and flaky or crispy but almost kinda hard too sugared dough pieces. Not bad hard but definitely not as airy and light as one might expect for simple fried dough. All around mediocre meal for $35. read more

The question was asked: Want to meet for pizza? There could only be one answer! Geraci's in its original location in University Heights. This place has been my family's go-to restaurant FOREVER. My friend ordered the small pizza with mushrooms. I got my standby: small pizza with onions and green peppers. Then we waited a LONG TIME for our order. The pizzas were lukewarm, not piping hot. Surprise visit from close cousins from New Mexico. Ordered 3 items for the 4 of us to share for dinner to be delivered by Uber Eats. We all shared an order of eggplant parm. Plenty to go around as an appetizer, still just hot enough. Had they tried to find a smaller container for the side of pasta they would have had to look real hard. The other 2 items were LARGE pizzas. Both arrived cold. The first, a typical cheese pizza was not only cold, but the sauce was tasteless. The second , also cold, was also a tasteless mess of vegetables and grease. It was obviously under baked, and was short on cheese. The vegetables were cold and raw. People rave about this pizza, but consider this a public service announcement: the pictured pizza was ordered as double pepperoni. Not at all what I envisioned for twice the meat. Subtract half these and that's the standard. While this is good pizza, I am not sure it's great. $24 for this pie. Nice spicy flavor and heat to the taste buds, but this will be my last visit while in the area. The staffer was super friendly in the phone and in person. My family has loved this restaurant for over twenty years. I wanted to highlight that I received excellent service this evening, 2/21, when I showed up thinking i had completed my online order and after causing a lot of confusion for the staff on a very busy night, realized I hadn't. I ordered there and I think the chef fast tracked my order which was awesome and great service, and as usual, the pizzas were perfect. Thanks to everyone working tonight. I've been going to Geraci's for, quite literally, my whole life. I moved away from Cleveland years ago, and still make it a priority to come here every time I visit. I've always been a fan of the spaghetti with Geraci sauce and the garlic bread is epic. That hasn't changed, thank goodness. I love that they give you a liberal amount of sauce with the pasta and it's always rich and flavorful. The garlic bread is my favorite of any I've ever eaten -- it's dream-worthy. And I love that you get a complimentary salad with your order, too. However, the service on my most recent visit left a lot to be desired. The restaurant wasn't full -- only about 3 tables -- yet our waitress was scattered and basically not present. We asked for water and I ordered a Shirley temple. Took about 10 minutes to get either one (and asking again) -- she said "oh I forgot." The Shirley temple was not one -- it was red food coloring in a glass of water. I had to ask her to take it back and she was shocked. She also dropped a basket of bread on our table and said "well it's not fresh today but..." then shrugged her shoulders and walked away. (For the record, the bread tasted fine, that was just weird.) So, overall, I still love the food. But the service was just not up to par. And I guess I learned my lesson on ordering a Shirley temple. read more

I have been into trying new places as of recently and surprisingly, never tried Geraci's before. I ordered myself a small BBQ chicken pizza to go. It was ready right when they said it would be. I drove home and dug in. The dough is chewy and the crust is crunchy and there is a ton of BBQ sauce all over. The toppings are where I have issue. For a SEVENTEEN dollar personal pizza, I expected better than canned pineapple and a few sprinkling of cubed chicken, which was a bit dry. I'll come here again if out with friends to share a pie, but I won't go out of my way to pay the price of a personal pizza here again. read more

EXPENSIVE pizza. MEDIOCRE, OVERPRICED Italian food. This pizza is very OVERRATED. Bad, dry crust, low quality toppings, mystery meat Italian "sausage", slimy pepperoni, dry chicken. This could have been a one-star review, but they recovered remarkably. Came in on a Saturday, early evening, before heading to Playhouse Square. Saw the place on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, so had to give it a shot. Was surprised when we were asked if we had a reservation. I specifically looked at their website to see if they took reservations and didn't see an option, so I assumed it was walk-in only. Probably just as well, as the place was booked solid, but they had a no show so I got their table. There are only about 10-15 tables in the joint. Water and bread came immediately. After about 10 minutes, a waitress who did not appear too happy to be working apologized for the delay, blamed it on the pandemic lack of help, and took our order. Asked for a Caesar Salad, a small side salad, a large 3 cheese and pepperoni pizza, and a glass of Chianti. Drinks and salads came out reasonably fast, then a couple that came in after us got their pizza while we were still waiting for us. Took everyone about 5 minutes to realize their pizza was our pizza. Waitress apologized profusely and bought me another glass of wine. The couple at the next table were as nice as could be, asked if we wanted a slice while we waited for ours. Fortunately we weren't in a hurry, so we just waited a bit longer for our pizza. When we did get the pizza, it was hot as Hades! Crust was nicely toasted from the wood fire, sauce was good, but the cheese was a bit skimpy. Pepperoni was fine and overall, it was a good pie, though not the best I've ever had. Went to pay and found out the couple that had received our pizza, and had already left, bought us each a desert. Cannoli's for latter, they were delicious. When we got the check, in addition to the comp glass of wine, she took off the pizza. Free stuff is always cool, but a most sincere heart felt apology for the mix up, even though understaffed, goes a tremendously long way. I boasted a few years ago back about the best burger around. Yes, I know a delicious Italian restaurant but they were that good. Warrensville location. For that reason I drove 30 minutes to have one. I was so disappointed today. Half the size, overdone, not as juicy. In fact not juicy at all. Party of two. We both had one. The restaurant staff was very friendly ( even as soon as you walked in) and fair when we pointed out we weren't happy. Once in a while you have a bad day. I just left and the service was great! I had the eggplant parmigiana and it was perfect. Unfortunately, there were two women behind us who kept saying negative comments about "black women" and "black lives matter." They were very loud. They ruined our dining experience and killed the ambiance announcing their political views which I'm sure was for us to hear. I'll never done there again. read more

The pizza as always was wonderful. However let it be known that if you order a topping for only 1/2 the pizza, Geraci's will charge you the price for covering the whole pizza. A not cool move imo. Also when did they stop serving the first slice once the pizza arrived at the table. That's such an Italian tradition that has apparently gone by the wayside. Hope they fix these things! read more

We have been looking for a great pizza place and Geraci's may be our local choice. After a long work day we decided it was pizza night so we called in our order on the drive home and picked it up (they don't deliver). We went with the basic sausage and mushroom. Very good- lots of mushrooms and they don't go overboard with the cheese like so many local restaurants do. The sauce was great and the crust was thin and crispy! To begin... the food here is GREAT! The Pizza is excellent and the menu is filled with delicious Italian classics. I here to talk "service". The restaurant is clean and has some interesting decor. However, the service IS AWEFUL! I mean it is a "deal breaker". I have been here 4 or 5 times now and have had the same experience. You will be seated and given water immediately. Then sit for 10 to 15 minutes with your server passing your table BUT she TOTALLY avoids you by looks at the wall opposite your table and flys by without communication. You will get one chance to order and then the same "avoidance tactic" will be deployed until you food is ready. No, extra drinks... no, how is everybody's anything. Just complete avoidance and disconnect. It gets to the point that it is uncomfortable because you have to say "EXCUSE ME" loudly and several times just to get them to stop to order a refill water, wine or other drinks. Bottom line... Order and pick it up unless you happy with slow service that will also be poor. read more

My in-laws came to town and our group of six went to Geraci's on a Thursday night. This place is definitely one of my favorite Italian restaurants in the Cleveland area since moving here a short while ago. The bread they serve with the meal is good, the pizza was thin crust and the sauce was delicious and we had several appetizers too. The only thing I did not care for was the fried cheese ravioli appetizer. It just didn't taste right in my opinion. We all did enjoy the fried meat ravioli appetizer though! We got two large pizzas. The Polpetta pizza (meatballs, ricotta and banana peppers) and the meat lovers pizza which had sausage, pepperoni and ham. Their pepperonis are thicker cut than most pizza places I've been to in Ohio which isn't a bad thing at all. The sausage that comes on the meat lovers is ground sausage and adds a nice, subtle flavor of sausage to the pizza. They were out of Italian wedding soup when we went so I'll be sure to try that the next time we go. I also am excited to try their pastas. I had a bite of my stepsons spaghetti and it tasted very good! read more

To finish off Pizza Week I figured I would hit Geraci's in University Heights; it was one of my old school pizza places and it has been quite a while since I had stopped in. Located on Warrensville Road near the University Heights city hall, Geraci's has not changed much over the years; on the right as you come in is the pizza kitchen, on the left is the narrow shotgun dining room with tables packed in on either side of the narrow aisle. The dining room decor has been updated with light color walls and upscale posters; nice but nothing that will make a big impression. My server was very nice and helpful, the kind of service I appreciate, especially as I got there fairly late for dinner. The pizza week special was a small one topping pizza. When I called to order for pickup, I was told that the special was dine in only and they would not take phone orders to have the pizza ready upon arrival. I ended up eating in and ordering a mushroom pizza. The pizza was a bit smaller then all of the other pizzas I tried during pizza week. The crust is somewhat thin, nothing special, but not bad; although since the sauce and cheese go all the way out you don't get the outside puffy crust that I enjoy. The sauce was ok, but I would have liked it better with a bit more on the pie, which is how I remember Geraci's pizza being back in the day. The cheese and mushrooms were fine, but nothing special. Overall the pizza was a nice example of Cleveland Pizza, but nothing special or especially memorable and the regular menu prices are a bit steep. Geraci's is just OK, a nice place to get a meal, but not the kind of place that makes me in a hurray to get back. A good, but not great Italian restaurant. read more

I went here at lunch time to see what all the hype was about, because I love just about EVERY style of pizza. I got two slices...and didn't even eat the second one. The crust was burned on the bottom, so all you could really taste was burnt bread with most bites. Oddly enough, the crust itself was a mushy, wet sludge. How do you burn a pizza and still have a crust that is the texture of wet rubber? Not sure. The pepperoni was really average, as was the sauce. The cheese did seem pretty good quality. Man was that some good pie! Got a pizza to-go today because of COVID-19 and it was excellent. The pizza was very flavorful and had plenty of toppings! I personally like when a thin crust pizza like this has more of a crisp to in on the bottom side and the crust. Wish this one had a little more crisp to it but I'm sure if you called and asked them to leave it in a little longer they would do so. Looking forward to trying more of their pizzas out! The Spaghetti is very pleasant, order meatball with and garlic bread and you have a meal for two. Which is what I did because my wife ordered pizza which came back so dry and crispy which was essentially burnt. It was Friday night, and there weren't many customers there. I don't know how you burn pizza for a customer sitting in the restaurant. Maybe that's the problem. My wife asked another diner who said when she ordered it delivered she had to tell them not to burn it. Seriously? In retrospect, I should have sent the pizza back and taken a photo. But it was a rare date night with wife so I wanted to keep things pleasant, and luckily I had enough spaghetti to give her a meal from my order. But Geracis is too expensive for this. Apparently their overcooked pizza is known among other locals, but we (I) am new to the area. My wife grew up here and fond memories.
