Imagine: you and your friends have spent a long evening bar-hopping through the lively Tremont neighborhood. Buzzed and starving, you stumble across a NYC-style slice shop directly along your critical path. In the moment, it feels like Moses parting the Red Sea before your very eyes. You watch happy patrons pile out with slices as large as your head, you smell the delicious grease; you can practically taste your pie already. Stepping inside, this religious experience continues when, right as you ready yourself to order, you watch the pizza barista pull a hot, fresh pie directly from the oven. You can see instantly deduce the pizza is perfectly cooked--the cheese is melted evenly, the smell of the tomato sauce lingers in the air, the crust has just the right bend--you look the cashier in the eye and declare that a slice of that fresh-out-of-the-oven pizza pie is exactly what you want. Now imagine the horror as the cashier takes that fresh slice of pizza, perfect as Michelangelo's David, and PUTS IT BACK IN THE OVEN. Horrified, you can do nothing but watch as your already amazing slice of pizza is burnt to a crisp. Served to you five minutes later, your wonderfully floppy New York slice now has the consistency of a saltine cracker. It has been charred to the point of burying the cheese and sauce--replaced by the flavor of charcoal. You might think this is an indulgent (and even pretentious) way to simply say "the pizza was overcooked," but I believe understanding the promise of this product is essential to understanding the pain of its disappointment. Lil Ronnie's is the type of place that has all of the potential to become a legitimate contender for the best pizza in town--it does so much right with its atmosphere and location, and my nose and sight told me the potential exists within that original version of the slice! Fear not pizza pilgrims, the Edison's pizza experience is back and better than ever with the Il Rione team manning the pizza window. Lil Ronnie's vibe maintains the low key vibes of its former inhabitants, while serving up pizza worthy in a lineup of NYC slices. The menu is simpler fare than Il Rione. The pizza is foldable, greasy, and pure comfort. Yes, you can still get a whole pie here (a large one at that), but you can also get a slice of white pizza with arugula pesto and another slice of pepp with hot honey. Say less, amirite? The OG Edison's experience is still available, where you can order in the shop and then pick up at the window inside the bar where there are tables. On nice days, outdoor seating at the (lone) picnic table outside on the curb is recommended, but there's no room to dine in otherwise. There's usually 2-3 staff working the store and they're all so pleasant and chill - everyone just wants to make and serve good pizza. read more

Such a stellar opening. I wasn't sure anything could replace Edison's in my heart (RIP please come back to another brick and mortar), but Lil Ronnie's has really shown out. Whereas at Il Rione, you have to wait a long time to sit down and get your pie, at Lil Ronnie's you walk in and can walk out with a slice in a few minutes. The holy grail slice you can get right now is the pepperoni with hot honey on it. The mix of the grease from the pepperoni with the spicy honey is practically an aphrodisiac. Runner up goes to the white pie with the pesto on top. The real MVP is the service though - so delightfully pleasant and efficient. read more

I am so glad Lil Ronnie's is in Tremont. After hearing that Il Rione had a takeout restaurant, I knew I had to try it. Although the selection is limited and seating nonexistent, service is extremely fast and it is a great place to get a slice (or a whole pie!) to go if you want some great pizza. While I wouldn't drive across town to come here, if I'm already in the area, Lil Ronnie's is one of my favorite places to grab a bite while walking through Tremont. read more

I found Lil Ronnie's via the Too Good to Go Program. It's awesome to have a reasonably priced pizza by the slice place in Tremont. They are on Professor right down the street from the historic Saint John Cantius Church. Finding GREAT value for the money and an Outstanding product is a golden combination. read more

Lil Ronnie's is a 10/10 pizza spot in Cleveland. The location is prime on Professor Ave where you can walk up to grab a slice and walk around Tremont. They always have slices available and you can order a full pie (when available). The white pizza is my favorite - it has ricotta cheese and lots of garlic; it's phenomenal! I've always been served extremely quickly but I know it can get busy sometimes. It's right next to Edison's Pub so you can walk in for a slice then grab a drink next door. I love that it's a little walk-up pizza shop with a really cool atmosphere. Stop in next time you're in Tremont! read more

Okay!! So m a huge huge huuuuuuuuggeeee fan of Il Rione and when I heard they were opening up bang next door to Edisons I can't tell you the excitement I had!! Infact I've been so excited that I've eaten a few times since they opened and have never waited to click a pic of the pizza so I can post it here (glutton as charged - get the pun). But but but... I did manage to take a pic one time last week (phew..IKR) before I devoured it down in a jiffy would be an understatement but honestly I love love love their pizzas! They're are by far the best pizzas I've had in Cleveland!! So I usually get the cheese ones but this time I got 2 white slices one with hot honey and the other with pesto! Pesto on a white pizza - bad idea (atleast for me), cos it got too rich on the palate esp when ricotta meets olive oil but was it delicious - you betcha!!!! Thank God I had it last cos I couldn't eat a bite after I finished that one! I guess pesto on a regular margarita or cheese is cool cos the acidity of the tomato cuts through the richness of pesto! Oh but the Hot honey drizzle yum yum yummmmmaayyyyyy!!! So Hot Honey on the white pizza is my new favorite way of pizza-ing!! Overall loving my new pizza neighbours. read more

I love the vibes. You feel like you've been transported to a NY slice shop. We need more of this in Cleveland to balance out the heavier pan pizza that's so pervasive. I got two plain slices, fresh out of the oven. They had great crisp and flavor. I actually prefer what they're doing here to the original Il Rione, where the crust is lacking a bit in flavor. I'll be back to try some reheated slices -- the crisp must be insane. read more

Got a cheese slice and a pepperoni slice - actually two slices of pepperoni because the guys thought one slice was "too light on the pepperoni"! Possibly the worst pizza I have ever tried in my lifetime. Extremely greasy, and had to much salt I could only eat one piece before throwing out the entire pizza. The staff is very fun here and you can tell they enjoy what they are doing. The service is always quick. The pizza is good, I recommend the hot honey with the pizza! Only reason I give 4/5 is because it is a little on the pricy side imo (5-6 bucks a slice). read more
