From the moment I met Vlasta, I knew he was the professional to redo my driveway. He's hardworking, fair priced, an excellent businessman, and a super nice person. I spent two years interviewing companies to redo my driveway. Yes, it's excessive, but it also yielded the absolute best craftsman in the Bay Area for the job. I don't give compliments like this easily. In fact, I'm usually disappointed by workmanship because I have unusually high standards, but Vlasta is one of the best masons I've ever seen. My driveway had sunk over the years due to the sand in the soil. A regular car couldn't get into my garage, only a four-wheel drive. I needed about, 400 sq. ft. of pavers installed to create a patio in the back of my home. There were 3 semi large Eucalyptus trees originally in the back that I removed & the stumps were only partially ground down. Vlasta, (Boomerang Pavers), had included in his work quote that he can ground the remaining stumps & roots as well, in order to have a nice, level base in order to lay his pavers. He & 2 of his crew, did a good job overall. There were a couple of issues that I didn't completely agree to, but, I overlooked them & didn't want to slow or hamper the crew from getting the job completed. Overall, 95% of the work was done sufficiently, the 5%, was a sloping issue that Vlasta & I worked out, without having to remove any of the pavers to correct. This review is long overdue! Timing wise, I'm glad I ripped out the entire yard and had it all redone last Fall. Our backyard was a huge mess. The previous owners had IKEA outdoor tiles that rot after just 1 year and weeds had taken over the yard. Boomerang Masonry did an awesome job to our backyard! Please read this post if your thinking about hiring someone who will do the job as promised. Let me start off by letting the Yelpers know that I had eight (8) different landscapers/designers come to my house in a two week period and gave me estimates for my backyard project. My wife and I didn't have a big budget and we wanted to not only get the most with what we had to spend, but we wanted quality workmanship and someone we can trust. Vlasta (owner of Boomerang Masonry) arrived at our house and provided us with an estimate, which was very reasonable and by far lower than some of the "big company" names out there. We didn't want to spend money on a designer so my wife actually drew what we wanted in our backyard on Microsoft paint. Vlasta took a look at the drawing and gave us some suggestions to actually SAVE MONEY instead of like the other contractors who were trying to up sell us and spend more. Vlasta was the only one who didn't sound like a salesman trying to play the high low game. He provided us with the reasonable estimate, break down and start/end date. When I purchased my house, my backyard was never landscaped and just an open area with dirt. The project took approximately four weeks as promised and I was so impressed with his work during the course of the project. Vlasta was at my house everyday during the work. The other contractors stated they would "come by" during the work and "check" on their "employees." We went with Vlasta because he stated he will do the work himself and he delivered as promised. Vlasta did the entire project himself with limited help a couple of times for the larger areas (pavers and grass). I was very impressed on how detailed his work was. We even went to the stores together to pick out the fire pit materials, stones, and trees he planted for us. You will see the photos I've attached and the detail Vlasta put into our stone bench and fire pit was amazing. He cut each piece of the stone and I was very impressed watching him put our design to real life. I took all of his suggestions such as the curve and height of the stone wall, curving of the pavers to grass area and choosing the rock pebbles for the empty areas. The end result was almost dead on with what my wife and I had in our minds and drawing. Yesterday (4-10-14) was the first night we had a gathering with friends and started up the fire pit. We had a wonderful dinner outside in our brand new backyard and roasted marshmallows making Smores. Our neighbors have been coming over and complimenting how much they love our backyard. We can't wait for the summer to entertain friends/family and just sit by the fire and enjoy some wine/beer.
