Starting off with a few tips to have a smooth install: 1. Know what you want (as in the type of artificial grass as there are lot of choices) 2. Try to measure the square footage of the space that you need turf installed 3. Shop around. Talk to at least 3-4 installers/companies After I did my "shopping" around, I narrowed it down to Turf Depot / Chloe + Pedro and another company based on price per SQ FT and professionalism. After speaking with Turf Depot, they referred me to Chloe and Pedro, one of their preferred installers. Chloe reached out and was patient with me as I was out of town. Made an appointment after telling her what I am looking for and our total square footage which was only about 190, a small project. I went with a soft 2 inch artificial grass as that was what I wanted. It was priced right with the costs of materials, install, and clean up. Fast forward to install day, Pedro and the crew came through with two big trucks went to work at 8am. They got rid of the weeks really quickly and proceeded with the install. All in all, I believe they were done by noon and everything looked great. It's been a few weeks now and the turf looks great. I'm curious to see how long it lasts as time progresses. I wasn't a big fan of artificial turf until I saw how nice it can be. I worked with Charlie at The Turf Depot and found a wonderful and realistic looking turf (so natural 105). I am so happy I've reached out to this business. The owner sent response to me on yelp super fast and asked me to call them. After the call, the owner routed my information to subcontractor, Mr.Van. Mr. van messaged me immediately to schedule a time to meet the next day. When mr Van is on-site, he brought different turf for me to select and gave me good suggestions on both my front and backyard. Besides, he also offered to help fixing several of my yard doors and put the water pipe hidden below the concrete. The most impressive part is that he told me he could start the work next day!!!! Turf depot connected me to one of their approved/certified installers: Harry Harrison. Harry is amazing, ask for him if you can!!! Reading the other reviews it seems like your experience can vary based on the installer. Harry came over to my house to do a visual inspection and talk to me about turf options. He asked all the right questions: do you have a dog? how many and what kind? Will kids play out here? What do you want to do with the rest of the yard? He gave me three samples of turf that would be best for my need that were across the full price range (low to high). They don't push a higher priced product, its 100% up to you. He also gave me his advice on other landscaping topics. He gave me some helpful tips on how to complete the rest of my yard myself. Told me "don't hire someone to do XYZ, you could do that yourself for way cheaper" Harry and his team installed 350 square feet of very high quality turf and provided me with care instructions. They were professional, efficient and honest. My 4 year old daughter absolutely loves her new yard. She runs around in circles and does somersaults all day! read more

We recently had artificial turf from the Turf Depot installed. The installation process and product itself were both great experiences. Our backyard had large, uneven paver stones and we wanted a backyard that was more suitable for our 2 year old to play in. What interested me in the Turf Depot is that they have a showroom. Not sure if you've tried reading about different types of turf online, but it sure helps to see samples in person. Charlie greeted us at the showroom and did a great job of explaining the different types of turf as well as the installation process. It was a no-brainer to go with the Turf Depot, and we very quickly decided which turf product to go with. The Turf Depot just sells the product so the next step was to find an installer. Charlie had a couple of landscapers they often work with reach out to us to provide an estimate. Chloe and Pedro were one of the companies that came to provide and estimate and they were terrific. Not only was their estimate the lowest, but they were available to install the following week (One installer had an 8-10 week lead time). But just as important was the fact that they were very professional, were very good communicators, and did great work! The only way to access our back yard is through the house, and although we were ok with them using a wheel barrow, Pedro decided that he'd rather carry the material in and out in 5 gallon buckets, out of concern that the wheel barrow might ding some of the walls. That was a very considerate decision for him to make, which we appreciated very much. Another challenge specific to our job was that because of the slop our house is built on, our backyard and two of our neighbors yards are on different elevation, so there are concrete retaining walls underneath the fences. Our original yard had a slope to it, but the process of grading it would expose the soil underneath the concrete foundations, which would lead to structural problems for the foundations and fences. Pedro and his crew installed planks of wood up against the foundations/sub foundation soil to act as retaining walls. He then anchored the boards into the concrete, all in all, a very solid and robust solution. In case it isn't overtly clear, I will say that we are very happy we went with the Turf Depot for the turf and with Chloe and Pedro for the installation! read more

They are busy so make sure you get your appointment confirmed. They came out to show us samples which were better than a competitor but charged the same. When we decided, we weren't sure about when the job would be complete as they are booked but they hired a subcontractor to that met my request. The Flow line is in high demand, too, so that was another issue about booking. They made it happen in two working days. Although this business did respond and read my detailed request for quote, they were unable to meet the needs of my client. There seems to be a need to comply with the company protocol (MUST do a site visit, meet with sales person, etc. which creates unnecessary delay) rather than flexibility. The client's site is clear of vegetation & debris, graded level, and photos available in addition to the address. Visited the Turf Depot in November 2022 and the representative did a great job helping us learn about the various Turf Options and providing us with several samples to take home. Ultimately we had our contractor purchase the turf we decided on from them. And had installed in two different areas in the front of our house. Unfortunately after 15 months one of the sections developed a line extending the length of the turf. Contractor looked at it and did not know how that could happened because the brand of Turf was exceptional. Contacted the Turf Depot and the partner of the Depot, Steve Jordan came and looked at the turf. He said that do not worry he will take care of the issue and "make it right" He said there were a few ways to resolve. My wife and I decided the option to totally replace the entire area the turf was installed was the best for us. Steve, went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied with what would be done. He made several trips to our home to show samples of the current replacement matching turf. The Turf Depot went out of their way to make sure we were totally satisfied, even by taking care of the removing and installation of the new section. No Cost to us. The customer service shown by the Turf Depot and Steve, was beyond exceptional. I was able to buy 200 sqft of good quality, and in-stock turf that was priced very reasonably from their warehouse, and get it delivered, along with all supplementary stuff (nails, overlay, etc.) the very next day by Christian. Who knew San Mateo had its own Turf Depot?! It knocks the other Depot out of the playing field! I have to say I was impressed by it's super customer service and beautiful products at great prices. I called a half-hour before closing, asking about their customer base; they work for all: corporations, residential, and for individuals like me, luckily! And right away Steve wanted to hear about my small project and said he would assist me when I arrived. It was 10 minutes till closing and these guys, who mostly do larger jobs than a 3 foot square turtle platform, still jumped up literally to help support my cause. Steve showed me a beautiful array of samples and knew exact specifications off-hand, which made it so easy for me to select what I needed quickly. Charlie entered the picture and the team led me into the warehouse right next door. The warehouse was tidy and well organized and it made everything so efficient. To my surprise the products didn't off-gas and they look just as good online as they do in person. It was neat to see behind the scenes as well- it would have been such a cool field trip for a child! I had a small project to fill an area with turf that would not have foot traffic but needed to be beautified. So I wanted to find an artificial turf that was of decent quality, realistic appearance, but low in cost. After visitia couple of landscaping stores, I discovered The Turf Depot on Craigslist advertising artificial turf starting at $1.00/sqft! The landscaping stores had nothing that came close. The Turf Depot just had their grand opening. Upon entering the showroom floor, I was immediately greeted by Sharese (receptionist) with a smile and an offering of bottled water. The sales person (Christian) I had initially spoke on the phone with was with a client so the owner, Ryan offered assistance. After some consultation with Ryan, I was able to easily make my decision and found a turf that fit my needs. I did not require delivery and was ready to pick up the material right away, so Ryan was able to accommodate me by getting his crew to measure, cut, and place the turf into my car in about 10-15 minutes. In the meantime, Sharese took care of my paperwork for the order. Christian eventually finished with his clients. He came over to me to introduce himself and asked if everything has been taken care. Christian finalized the transaction and Ryan himself helped get everything into my vehicle. Why the long winded description of my experience? Because it was the "details" that impressed me. This was truly teamwork at its finest. Everyone took initiative to help each other to make sure I had the absolute best experience. That's difficult to find in the landscape industry. To summarize, this is a family business that will treat you like family. Courteous, helpful, and execution is spot on. When another member of their team convinced me to buy more infill (turns out my landscaper did not need it), Turf Depot ultimately picked up the ten extra bags and refunded me. I would think that it is a pretty easy calculation to do: x amount of infill for x amount of turf. They probably took advantage of my non expertise, although manager said they are all nice guys. .
