When it's Saturday night and you have no place to go. Check Yelp and proceed with certainty. And certainty is what led me straight to Boomy's. After reading numerous reviews that raves about this place I decided to give Boomy's a chance. I typed the address in and I immediately recognized the location. As I drove to stop in I drove around in circles for more than 10 minutes looking for a parking spot. Eventually I found a spot and headed to the bar. As I walked up I noticed that there was a bouncer checking IDs at the door. This immediately had me cautious because what bar has decent Thai/Vietnamese food?!... Exactly... not many but I decided to give it a try. I originally decided to stay in and eat but after noticing the extremely loud music I decided to grab some food to go. The young lady at the bar directed me to the back of the bar to order food to go and she gave me a menu to look over. When I walked to the back I asked the second young lady to give me a couple of top sellers and I decided to go with her first option. *Entree: Thai Fried Rice with Chicken The young lady's first option was the Thai Fried rice with chicken. I placed the order than wait. Once my order came up I inquired about a side of peanut sauce. The young lady stated that the sauce would be an additional $0.50 which was slightly annoying but I purchased it any way (sauces should always be free especially if they don't fill the sauce to the rim of the cup). Nonetheless the fried rice was spectacular. It took a healthy amount of self control to stop eating from my to go plate. I would have never expected a regular-schemuglar bar to serve Thai food that packed such a flavorful punch. Yelp has won once again! Thank you! Overall this bar/restaurant deserves an A-. The fried rice packs a strong punch of savory flavors with an after bite of heat. The peanut sauce was creamy and filled with strong peanut after notes. The employees were also pretty decent and helpful when choosing a menu option. Pitfalls, the bar is extremely loud (but it is a bar) and the bar charges for dipping sauces. Everyone clearly knows that eating without sauces is a sin so why charge me for my bad habits of dipping! I'm not sure how I haven't reviewed Boomy's yet because I frequent this place weekly. It doesn't look like your typical Thai food spot, but it is! You would be surprised! The food here is amazing. I love the spring rolls and the veggie rolls. The Thai fried rice reminds me of the Thai fried rice in Hawaii. You can choose your spicy level, up to a 6. I like to get the shrimp fried rice. This place is bizarre- in a good way! My friend and I were starving around 11pm or so and nothing was open (except fast food). But somehow this thai place shows up on my yelp and indicates it's open late. So we head on over and we are immediately confused because this place is a bar. There was a lady singing in a corner, a lot of guys drink beer and some ladies drinking frozen drinks. Were we in the right place?? But I was starving so I didn't mind the risk of making a food out of myself by asking the bartender this: "Uhm...Hi...do you have a ... thai food menu? Am I in the right place?" Unexpectedly pho-nomenal food from a bar. My friends & I make it a point to come here regularly just for the food. I consistently suggest Boomy's when visitors or locals are looking for good Asian eats. Locals are always surprised when I rave about the Pho here. I believe their kitchen is open pretty late, too. Overall: It's reasonably priced, the staff is friendly (Chelsea is one of my favorite bartenders in town), & the food is GOOD. Highly, highly recommended. read more

I wish I could give it zero stars. I used to love this place, but whoever is in charge now, has run it to the ground. I used to recommend this spot to everyone. Last time I was there I gagged trying to get the food down. We gave the leftovers to a struggling person on the street. I felt bad about that, there is no reason for him to have to eat that food. We thought maybe it was a fluke and tried it again tonight. We were wrong. We specifically asked the bartender to not have any extra salt, he said that's not his problem, not in charge of the kitchen. The food came out just as salty as the time before. What a great surprise! When my fiance' wanted to stop in here, I was hesitant. It was dark and looked like a dive. We walked in and were immediately greeted by a server. We ordered drinks and checked out their menu. Thai food?!?! Really?? In a dive bar? Duck spring rolls? Pho? Seriously? We took the chance and ordered the spring rolls and potstickers. Between 3 of us we ordered a pad thai, panang curry, dumplings and tom kha soup and i know how authentic food tastes. It wasn't close. We were sitting here and didn't even know they did food until we saw a waitress walk out with two huge steaming bowls of Pho. That right there convinced us that we should order food. My wife and I came in about 5:30 in the afternoon for an early dinner, having heard good things about the Thai dishes and bar atmosphere. We walked in and there were literally only two other people in the place, one of whom was wearing an apron. Don't know if she worked there or not. Neither person acknowledged us. There was no one behind the bar, no other service personnel noted anywhere. We sat at a table and waited. And waited.
