This is a nice place in a really nice hotel. I thought the price was pretty reasonalble for any restraunt let alone one in a resort hotel. I had shrimp and grits. This dish was created in this area, everyone does it just a little different. The stone ground grits are perfect for this dish. The shrimp were grilled, the gravy had andoullie sausage crumbled in for an added spice. I would say it was perfect. Bread came with the meal and I had to get an extra to sop up all the wonderful flavor. The 4 rating was because of the service. I waited a long time for the server to arrive and after the meal I had to catch her to get my drink refilled and get my bill. It wasn't that busy, she just was not very attentive. I find this a lot when I dine alone, maybe they think I won't be tipping much. I always tip at least 20% and it frustrates me to get service like this. read more

We came here as a guest of the hotel and to celebrate a family member's graduation. We did make a reservation as the wait time seems it would be longer otherwise. The food was delicious--we had a big party so we tried several things off the menu but I can't remember specifically now what they were and it was too chaotic for food photos, lol. The main complaint would be the service. Our waitress presented as new, inexperienced, and arrogant which is not a good combination. She messed up several orders but didn't really take responsibility for the mistakes. Service was also pretty slow. Other staff members seemed nicer but overall it did bring the general mood and ambiance down. Also they need to provide more accessibility. I was in a wheelchair at the time and had to go through a weird back way with no automatic doors since we were seated in an obscure area on a raised platform typically only accessed by stairs. The restaurant had other sitting options that seemed like a better alternative but since we were a big party we just went along with it. Because of the above along with the poor service, I'd give it 2.5 stars for value but I'll round it up to 3 stars for now. The hotel is located on an island so going out might not be an option for dining, but check out the restaurants across the water (they have a ferry running during certain hours) if you're able to. We also tried to order delivery our first night at the hotel and got food poisoning so again just go across the water. read more

Just one visit here as a guest at the hotel. Came up the escalator to the second floor to arrive for lunch between 12:30-1 on a Wednesday. Could see diners and some activity and an empty host/hostess station at the "please wait to be seated" sign. I'm patient, just expressing it was many minutes, more than several before we were greeted. Another party behind us questioned aloud if lunch service was still happening. Eventually a hostess carrying a large pile of unfolded napkins arrived and was very friendly. She explained something about certain server stations and the need to prepare space in those areas, I mean, the place was lightly attended. Staffing likely. The Caesar salad with shrimp was uneventful. The shrimp was cold, like defrosted feeling. There's not much around this hotel so they do have a built in audience. read more

I'm torn on how many starts to give this restaurant. The view, the service and the Caesar salad are a strong five start. My daughter and I ordered the Mushroom Ravioli and the Vegetarian Bowl and they were only three stars. The combination of flavors on both of these dishes was just weird. And the Vegetarian Bowl was cold which surprised us. We normally eat at the poolside bar and everything on the menu is excellent. This was my second trip here. The shrimp cocktail was bad but the French fries are great! Maybe the meat dishes are better here. The atmosphere is very nice and the view is beautiful. First off, Trudi at the bar was GREAT. I got here late due to travel so I was trying to be courteous and move things alone for her. She slowed me down and made me enjoy! That's such a great quality in a bartender/server. Any general employee honestly. The sliced beet salad was fantastic. Nice mix and balance with the goat cheese, pistachio, red/golden beets and the balsamic/arugula. A+ The short rib was very good. Better than a couple I've had at places touting theirs here in Savannah. One piece was perfect and the other was slightly dry. Great flavor and the sides fit it perfectly. We've had three perfect meals in the last two days. The scallops were succulent, she crab soup was devine, very fresh salad, amazing rib eye and excellent shrimp and grits. Ask for Clarence, he will make sure that your meal and experience is the absolute best!!! read more

I had to push to give this two stars, and only because ONE of the many servers I had went a tad out of her way, but the several others I experienced were inattentive to downright rude! The breakfast food was very average and awful. I had to eat at the buffet (26 bucks?) because it was going to take 20 minutes to get a simple breakfast sandwich. This happened twice. The third time I didn't even ask. When I questioned it the first day I was told i could get the buffet and they'd make me a breakfast sandwich? But the whole idea was for the amount I eat the price is stupid. And no I don't do "pastry". The food on the buffet is awful. The biscuits and gravy is nothing that any southerner would put on the table. I do wonder as they served "chicken sausage" if it was "chicken sausage gravy" because at one point the flavor clearly reminded me of chicken stock...blech! As for the rest, all very average. Many times things were cold. This morning they had pancakes. I literally could not cut the one I had with a knife. Now I'm a bad cook but I have to ask how do you make a pancake that hard? It always took a bit to get seated. This morning was certainly extra in that department. We waited. And waited. Well you get the drift. I wandered in and was curtly told we'll be right with you. So we waited some more. When we did finally get seated we waited again. When the server finally came I asked for tea. The manner in which I asked what kind of tea was nothing short of rude, as though it was an imposition that I don't drink coffee. Sorry Im allergic to it. And we then got up, got our food, sat down, ate, chatted, ASKED another server to find my tea, chatted some more, and finally my tea showed up shortly before the bill... They did offer a buffet lunch one day or a grab and go. The buffet again was pricey so we opted for grab and go. It was edible but the very average simple turkey sandwich was 14 bucks. I realize hotel food is never that good. (Ok there's some exceptions but this is reality). But this place is capitalizing on a captive audience, as nothing is in walking distance. So they can serve crappy food at big prices. Yeah the boat ride itself is short. But I waited probably close to half an hour one night for the boat! Not recommended and never again! read more

We went for the Thanksgiving buffet and we're very impressed. There was so many dishes to choose from and everything we tried was excellent! They had everything from the traditional Turkey and ham to more diverse foods such as grouper in Savannah red rice or mushroom ravioli. The sides were wonderful, the charcuterie was plentiful and the salads were fresh. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We were stuffed but persevered to the dessert bar, which was amazing!! Made reservation through OpenTable for lunch on a Saturday and requested window table for the view. They don't have a bartender in the afternoon so I choose not to get a drink even though our waitresses offered to ask the manager to make a drink. I started with the smoothie, which was good but nothing like I can't make. I chose to go with the restaurant week menu and started with the Tomato plus Burrata, which was good but definitely not the best one I have ever had. It's was a good portion size. For my entree, I got the tacos and my date got the Collard green melt, which came with fries and was definitely better than my meal. Highly recommend sticking with southern food here. I got the red velvet cake, which for some reason has cheesecake icing instead of cream cheese frosting. My date got the Leopoldo's ice cream sandwich, which was delicious- highly recommend it over the cake. The service was slow even though there were not a lot of people at the restaurant. The Aqua Star Sunday Brunch was good. Overall the selection of seafood was decent, The Salmon, meats, cheeses and veggies were in plenty. We thought the Crab Claws was the best thing on this Brunch Buffet. They were really nice size. The only thing we both did not like was the raw quarters. The oysters had a Funky Wang and was not nearly as cold as I prefer them. Overall I'm glad we went as the Momma wife really liked it, but I wouldn't go back. $40-$50 a head would buy lots of fresh made French Croissants! read more

The Aqua Star is the restaurant located inside the Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa on the second floor. The restaurant has windows that face the rivers, allowing diners to eat and enjoy the river view at the same time. The Aqua Star is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. This review will only be for the breakfast and the Father's Day Sunday Brunch. The breakfast buffet had a pretty good spread. They had their omelet station with a chef there to cook omelets or eggs any way you want it. They had their usual hot food station with Bacon, sausage, potatoes, and scrambled eggs. In addition to oatmeal, they also had grits. Bread and toast were also available. After spending the previous days at the Embassy Suite in Orlando, the Aqua Star was a welcome change from the Embassy Suites madness. Missing were all the teenagers and unruly children. It was nice and quiet inside the the restaurant in the mornings. I could enjoy my cup of coffee and watch my the ships on the Savannah River. It was nice. Even though they both had bacon, sausage, and omelets, the food at this Aqua Star tasted much better. The waiters and waitresses did a good job and cleared my plates whenever needed, and were helpful in topping off my coffee. It was a good breakfast buffet. What was interesting was that they also had 2 griddles where you could make you own pancakes. They had the batter and 4 ingredients consisting of cranberries, blueberries, chocolate and pecans. The pancakes were very good. Father's Day just happened to be on the Sunday that we were staying at the Westin Hotel. Both my wife and daughter wanted to celebrate Father's day by eating at the Father's Day Brunch at the Aqua Star restaurant a few hours after eating at their breakfast buffet. In addition to the items that they served at breakfast, they also had other items like seafood. They had oyster's on the half shell, chilled shrimp, oyster's rockefeller, salmon, smoked shrimp, smoked scallops, and a wonderful seafood pot pie. They also had a carving station for the rib roast, and a dessert station where they made banana's fosters. Everything that I had was delicious. They had a pasta station at brunch as well. They let the chef's do their own thing. Instead of making pasta, one of the chef's made a wonderful shrimp sauce for me so that I could have some shrimp and grits. While another chef made some shrimp and waffles for me. Both of the shrimp dishes were delicious. Overall, the breakfast and Sunday Brunch were pretty good. The breakfast was part of a package deal from Westin. It was a great package deal. Unfortunately, the breakfast package did not include the Sunday Brunch. We had to pay for that separately. Last night, my husband decided this was where we should celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. He realized he made a bad choice after we were sitting at our table and trying to place our drink order. The waitress was pleasant enough but lacked polish for the prices associated with the menu. We ordered two glasses of the same wine. However, only had enough wine for barely one glass, which was brought to our table. Then, it took two more times to get a type of wine that they had available before my husband had a glass of wine. My husband did enjoy the taste of his meal, and it did look good. Mine was not what I expected. I told my husband, "I guess I read the menu wrong," and processed to eat. I do like ahi tuna, but this was dry. How does one make raw tuna dry and flavorless? My meal also looked like an appetizer. I swear it said it came with pineapple slaw. Oh,well. After our meal, the waitress did ask if we wanted any dessert. Not to our normal behavior (we usually have dessert and after dinner drinks on special occasions), we both quickly responded no thank you. We were ready to leave. If you take into consideration everything (including the state of the dining room), I would sum it up as an overpriced cafeteria with an overworked staft doing the best they can with no product to serve. read more

This review is for breakfast only. They had a buffet for $22. Neither of us felt like we could do it justice, so we opted for off-the-menu. I loved the sound of the egg white omelet with broccoli and white sharp cheddar. It came with perfectly browned hashbrowns and good grain bread toast. Although it sorta kinda sounded healthy, there was a lot of butter going on. Good thing calories don't count when they're not your fault, huh? Meanwhile, Husband enjoyed his scrambled eggs with hashbrowns & bacon (they forgot the bacon, but brought it when he pointed it out). Before we left our Server actually gave us her card and told us she wanted to know about any dining concerns. Wow, never had a Server give us a business card before! There is a new (plant based) Beyond Burger in the menu with a delicious house sauce, roasted mushrooms, pretzel roll and fabulous homemade pickles (I don't even like pickles!) and crispy, crunchy fries on the side. I may have been one of the most satisfying sandwiches I've had in a long time. I will dream of this sandwich from my home in Charleston until I can return. Seriously, try this surprisingly vegetarian sandwich. My service was timely and extremely responsive. The restaurant is just a very quick walk over from the Convention Center and a welcome change from the other offerings there. I had the opportunity to try the Westin breakfast buffet and it was ok. We arrived for our 8:15am reservation and was immediately escorted to our table by the host. Our server, Kaleena, was amazing! She had a sense of humor and did her best to attend to each table even towards the end when the rush and large parties came. Honestly, the restaurant could have used another server or busser on duty. The food was ok. The pastries were not amazing and I didn't like the specialty juices (spinach, pear, and fennel or watermelon). Orange was the best. Lol the pastries can be heated in the toaster. I had the sauteed vegetables and pancakes. I was disappointed to find out that waffles aren't included in the breakfast buffet and are sold only as an entree. The continental breakfast buffet is 16.50 and the all included is 24.50. Both buffets comes with coffee, tea, and juice. A benefit is if you do the energy saving program you get $5 a day in credit to the restaurant. They have breakfast buffets and regular dining meals. We went for lunch. We had been hoping to grab a quick bite to eat before checking out downtown Savannah one last time before leaving for home. However, due to our probably 45 minute to on hour wait after ordering our food we were pretty much to the lobby and gone. The food itself was not bad but I think the service was just really poor. It took an extra 15 minutes to seat us despite the restaurant being empty and the fact that we had a reservation. They were out of most of what was on the menu. The fish was bad and one member of our party sent it back. The server didn't understand why we wanted to taste the two bottles of wine we purchased prior to her pouring it. The website promised hot chocolate by the fire and a big Christmas celebration. There was none of that! It was just not good! One of those meals when you regret not walking out before you spent a lot of money. Disappointing for anyone who works hard for your money. When I book a Sunday brunch reservation 2 months in advance, for the 1st seating @ 11:30am, with a request for a window table, and show up with my wife and guest in suits for a Sunday brunch, I DO NOT expect to be seated at a table for six, in the back of the restaurant , next door to a family of 8 that is in the middle of eating their breakfast, when the restaurant is empty. And this is from the manager!!!! Buffet was very good, not great. Typical "fancy-schmancy" hotel brunch. Waitstaff needs training too. Ordering a juice should not be an exercise in logistics. My juice was warm. Also, I shouldn't have to ask the staff for coffee, and then only me gets served coffee, without asking the rest of the table. Huh??? This is from a Westin??? Talk about a brilliant dine. Harsh reviews are not necessary as you are acutely aware, that you are dining within a hotel establishment. After being bitten to pieces while waiting for the ferry back to the hotel the previous night, after dining on River St and also having experience Mrs. Wilkes and Old Pinke House, we opted to stay within. Having already eaten the burgers (which were delicious) by the poolside, we opted for Aqua Star. We were in the midst of restaurant week so a cute little pre fixe did the trick. Mussels over chardonnay garlic broth. YUM! SCALLOPS AND RISOTTO. oh my that was good, perfectly cooked scallops and risotto. And after too many unexpected glasses of wine later (should';ve bought ab ottle or two), i was stuffed and happy and had to take my pot de creme to go. In which, my sneaky ass sister ate in the balcony of our room later that night without me knowing. Pouty face. Round two -dining experience- Void pre fixed. Ordered a la carte. Bourbon blackened rubbed skirt steak. I love skirts and I love a perfect medium rare steak and this did the trick. Was so light and flavorful-not BUTTERFULL like every other restaurant in Savannah but FLAVORFUL-spice spice baby! What an experience. Perfect timing too for our last night in town, an opera gang was dining alongside us and in preparation for their concert for the following night, they gave us diners an impromptu concert. It swam into your wine and crawled additional flavors into your mouth as you ate. It was one of the best relaxing and wonderfully executed dinners yet, And WONDERFUL service nonetheless. And sugar, Aqua Star beats all of the restaurants on River St. Forget the night time ferry during the summer time....unless you bring bug spray. read more

Overall 4 stars! My wife and I decided to stay in the hotel for dinner instead of dealing with the crowds on River being that Savannah is a regular stop for us. I must say this was a great decision! Sir Roger Michel is a French Chef and a Knighted Sir of England. His recipes are outstanding. I had the Scallops, my spouse the Swordfish. Both were prepared perfectly. I can say that it was one of the best prepared dishes I have had in awhile, plus it was the best dish during my 3 days in Savannah. Next was the wine selection. Being the wine snot I do not drink 2011's due to a bad year in California and Argentina vineyards. Turns out from Duckhorn on it was 2011. Thinking it was a poop out here comes the Sommelier and offers a nice French La Poussie (got to love that name eh?) and BAM! it was done. Being my wife's Birthday Week! Yes Week! She is 50, the waitperson brought out a surprise Mousse! Nice! One last item is the bread, it's addictive and it's not the bread. Huh you say. The Chef has a concoction of a butter with ground sea salt and ground smoke salt grouping. Try it! Damn it's addictive. The only improvement I could state is the waitstaff could explain the dishes and chefs plate items more thorough, again small. Usually not a fan of buffet style breakfasts or meals in general but I've indulged here for their Sunday brunch twice now and both times it's been excellent. Usually things aren't cooked uniformly due to the high volume at buffet style restaurants but it seems like they've dialed it down because everything is pretty fluent through out. They had an excellent raw bar, at which may or may not have ate my body weight in sushi and oysters lol. Super good and nice charcuterie line up as well. They have everything you could want for brunch. Full breakfast section devoted to personalized pancakes, and all the regular breakfast fixings. Main line up today had about 5 different meats, some seasonal sides and some wonderful shrimp and grits! Really was good lol, I was shocked. I couldn't stay out of them. The desert table they had was phenomenal as well and even were making banana foster made to order, what more could you want?? Needless to say I was happy and almost had to get carried out of there. During our stay at the Westin in Savannah, my wife, kids and I ate here both mornings for breakfast. I know, with so many dining options in Savannah, why eat the hotel? Well because it was free. SPG members receive breakfast buffet vouchers so we didn't want to pass it up. The breakfast buffet was your standard fair of sausage, bacon, eggs, breads, etc. The upgrades from your normal continental breakfast is the omelette station and smoked salmon. Outside of that, I can't say that it was anything great but it wasn't bad either. It was a decent breakfast to start the day with plenty of options including healthier items such as fresh fruit, oatmeal, and yogurt. If you get Patrice as you're server, you're in for a treat as she was so nice and pleasant. If the breakfast was complimentary with the voucher, can't say that I would pay $15/person for this. read more

It took a while for our food to come after our salads. The salads didn't take too long, but they took too long to get us our main course. Food: The food was phenomenal. I got the savannah pot pie which was a normal pot pie with the breading, etc., but filled with seafood, including scallops, lobster and crab. I have never had anything like it. Went there with a ladies brunch group on 12/5/21 because we had heard people rave about how great the brunch was there. We were incredibly disappointed in the VERY limited menu (only 5 items to choose from), and had an overall bizarre experience. An employee greeted us as we walked in, not to welcome us there, but to ask us how many people we had, and acted annoyed when we said we had a reservation. Then we were given two different menus at our table of six, and so three people were ordering from the wrong menu. The waitress corrected it when it was pointed out, but our waitress was not good and walked away from us on several occasions when we were trying to ask questions about a drink menu or our bill. I understand that in the current climate, it's hard to find employees and resources are limited....but the service was just so rude that it was a very bad experience. We have been brunching all over savannah once a month for all of 2021, and this was by far our worst experience. Please train your staff on how to act like they don't hate customers. read more

Website shows breakfast is available until noon on weekends. Showed up this morning (Saturday) at 11:04 to the breakfast being shut down. When I showed the staff their website they said, "we're closed, the website needs to be updated because we haven't been until noon in forever."
