I play music at Boondocks every other week, which means I have had PLENTY of opportunities to eat here... for research purposes, obviously. And I genuinely haven't had a bad meal. The Caesar salad has no business being as good as it is. I order it constantly. And the ribs?? Fantastic. Messy, delicious, absolutely worth looking like a feral raccoon for a few minutes. The staff is also one of my favorite parts of this place. They're always so welcoming, fun, and great to work with, and they make Boondocks feel like home. Come for the live music, stay for the food and drinks, and seriously... get the ribs. Just maybe grab some extra napkins. read more

Greta spot to stop on the way to Key West. Food is fresh and always good with great service. Very relaxed atmosphere. They offer mini golf next door and a mini market goes on every Saturday. After my first visit, 2stars, I've been here over 20 times and the food is always inconsistent. Service is great Most nights. they have live music or karaoke nightly, daily specials, and happy hour, and the best part is that it's walking distance from my house. Mainly stop by for a couple beers Hard to rate them more than 3.5 stars just based on the food, I've never had a burger made the way I asked, but it's just a tiki bar in the keys so atmosphere alone gets them a 5 most days. First time eating here and it was great. The restaurant is open air, but we were there in January and it was very comfortable. The menu had lots to choose from. I chose the conch fritters and smoked fish dip. Both were delicious, with the conch fritters being some of the best I have eaten. Everybody else's food was also great. The service was good. Our first night out w friends who had traveled all day so we went close by , plus it's a little more sheltered for a cool day . Live music playing and at the perfect volume helped the atmosphere. Great drink selection and an ok beer list . The hogfish sandwich was excellent blackened, though I like a bit more spice ! The house bacon potato salad is killer , so good , fish tacos were gobbled up quickly , the ribs however were a bit over done and dry . Boondocks has been our go-to since 2014, but the last visit in 2023 wasn't that great. We decided to give it another chance. The bartender didn't look happy to see us at 8 pm when they are open until 10 pm. He explained he worked a double. Ok, well, we could take our money elsewhere, but we decided to stick it out. And regretted it because the grouper was so overcooked. They charge way too much for grouper now to overcook it. The mango balsamic salsa was completely different from how it used to be and didn't taste very good. Looking back through my reviews, I can see from the 54 photos over the years how much better the food used to be. 11 years was a good run, but time for us to find a new go-to. read more

The vibe is so cool and the employees are overly friendly, greet you when you come in, greet you when you leave, everybody's working hard and not standing around talking even though most of them are very young. I visited Boondocks on April 17, 2026 at 7 PM. I've been here many times before, and the food is usually pretty good, which made this experience especially disappointing. I ordered a fried grouper sandwich, and it was the worst fish sandwich I've ever had. It was about half an inch of batter with maybe a quarter inch of fish inside--and I'm not even convinced it was grouper. We ordered two of these, and both were equally bad. In the Florida Keys, it's honestly hard to find a bad fish sandwich, which makes this even more surprising. The band was talented, but the music was way too loud for a family dining environment. We couldn't hear each other well enough to have a conversation at the table. Our total came to $234.39 including tip ($194.57 before tip), which made the experience even more disappointing considering the quality of the meal. I've had good experiences here in the past, but this visit was a letdown. Not sure what's going on in the kitchen, but something needs to improve. read more

We stopped in for a quick pitstop on our way to Key West. This restaurant, bar, and grill is awesome and huge. Lots of parking, plenty of seating for dining and at the bar. They have decent enough prices on their food and drink and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We didn't dine here but we stopped in for a quick drink and to use the restroom. They have plenty of TVs available to watch the big game and there is also a gift shop available if you forgot something you might need for you trip to Key West. The bad The service we had was HORRIBLE. I realize no one wants to work on Christmas Eve & those that do aren't happy. I spent some of my youth in the restaurant & bar biz so I get it. BUT Our waitress ( I believe her name was Dawn) was to put it mildly inattentive. From needing drink refills to getting our check was a needlessly long ordeal. Her section wasn't busy. We watched a male server by her section zip around & be friendly & present. By the time we were finally able to pay my wife & I who always gives servers the benefit of the doubt were both pretty steamed. We also didn't enjoy the lady bartender on duty verbally abuse the servers because she loudly let it be known several times that she wasn't happy to be there. This place is an absolute gem!! We discovered it on our drive back to Orlando from Key West, but we wish we could have discovered it on the way down as well. It has a cool open concept while still being covered with a tiki hut roof attached to the building. This time of year (summer) is the perfect weather to enjoy that type of atmosphere, even if it's raining, which it was for us. It was a Monday afternoon, so it's was quiet, the service was fast and the food was delicious. I got the bang chicken sandwich, which came out chopped on a hoagie, which presently surprised me but was delightful. You can never go wrong with cheese curds, and theirs were cooked perfectly and paired with strawberry preserve and spicy mustard dips. Stayed on Cudjoe key for a few days and drove past this place a bunch during that time. Looked like a fun place to go.. largest tiki bar in the keys you say? I'm here for it! The end result first.. fun place to come grab some drinks and appetizers and then maybe some golf.. but that's it. We really enjoyed the loaded waffle chips and the onion rings. The drinks were made well and there was a nice selection of beer. However the entrees fell a little short. When you eat at most any place in the keys.. "fresh" is the first thing you expect. The coconut shrimp tasted like something off of the Sysco truck, and while the grouper *might* have been fresh.. the Picatta sauce, not so much. We were pretty disappointed in the food, so we decided to cheer ourselves up with a round of mini golf which was fun.. Definitely recommend this if you're into that sort of thing! read more

We played miniature golf. $14.95 for adults for 18 holes. If you keep your ball you can play a second round for $3.95. They have a bar when you buy the ball token so you can get a beer or cocktails while you play. The course is very well maintained and seemed new. Open 7 days a week 10 am- 10 pm. This was a last resort restaurant we had to go to..wait time was average for a pretty busy night! I think the staff was nice and attentive as best they could be. Food took awhile to come out but when it did it was fresh and very good no complaints really. Only downside is sitting outside with mosquitoes..maybe add more fans or bug repellent?
