Cool place, decent service, food is ok depending on what you get. The salads are a huge rip-off. Barnacle Barney's signature $17 salad was 50 cents worth of lettuce, 6 shrimp and a few croutons. Wonderful place! There is honestly nothing to complain about. The staff are nice, the food is good, and the environment is positive and lively. They have multiple options of foods to choose from. Me and my sister shared a ceased salad and a basket of fries and that was the perfect amount of food. If you visit this place I would 100% recommend getting the fries, the seasoning is so amazing and delicious. So flavor and yummy. OPEN ON CHRISTMAS This tiki bar is on a resort property so you'll need to walk to the back and the bar is located near the water. It was a cool environment however the servers seems a little stressed out. Granted it was Christmas Day but the drinks and food took a while. The other folks in our group didn't have the best experience. The margarita was super sweet so they switched it out for a beer on tap but since it was the end of the beer it was flat. We are Bluegreen Owners and After 4 years, I dont know why we continue to spend money here. I see reviews boasting outstanding food and service . I'm giving it a 2 because the live entertainment is nice to have when sitting by the pool. The lady that works here, runs around crazy busy , is friendly, but we never luck out getting her. The sunset is also beautiful. The other night , my fiance had a craving for some wings so against my better judgment of the food we have had in the past, I decided to give them another try. The guy working didn't greet us, just walked over and dropped two menus at our table . I ordered a Pina Colada, he came back with it . I dont think I've ever had a tropical drink with not as much as a cherry , slice of pineapple , something tropical. Got it out of the slushy machine. Didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it. He cane back around and we told him we wanted an order of hot wings and we'd get something else after, we were still deciding . We got the wings..10 dry wings with hot sauce drizzled on them. At least shake them in the sauce so they are coated. He never came back around to check on us , ask how everything was or what else we wanted to order. He was wandering around in a daze. Wasnt busy at all. Had to go up and ask for our check and pay because we would have been sitting there awhile. I overheard him say he was starting vacation the next day. Our group decided to stop by for dinner and to watch the sunset, barnacle Barney's seemed like it would fit the bill. Oh how wrong we were. We walked in and there were around 8 total people in the area with one larger group of six. Not very busy for an establishment with two bartenders/waitresses and one cook. Once the waitress came over she apologized for taking so long to get to our table and took our drink orders. Our first four drinks came out in about ten minutes, while the last two did not. Our waitress took more orders from people at the bar before beginning to make our final two drinks, not very efficient to jump around with multiple tasks, and by the time we got our drinks the appetizers were delivered to the table and we still didn't have any water. Despite our better judgement we stayed for dinner, the burgers both had the wrong sides, and when we brought this up they said it was too late for the kitchen to send out the properly ordered side of sweet potato tots. Not our fault that they took so long to make the main entrees that the kitchen was "closed", we let them know right away too. They didn't charge for the up charge on sides, but also didn't provide any other sort of discount for the poor service. One of our dishes was not brought out at all and we had to ask them where it was after everything else was delivered, the cook didn't make it at all and it was delivered after everyone else had finished their meal. The entire time the waitresses were acting very stressed out and overwhelmed, but the restaurant didn't have that many patrons, we were very confused. We would not recommend coming here unless you are getting a draft beer they can pour right away, and even then it might be ten minutes until they take your order. Gotta give credit where credit is due! Every time I have ordered food from the Tiki Bar and Restaurant at the Hammocks in Marathon, the food at Barnacle Barney's has been top-notch! It is apparent that they choose quality ingredients and take pride in their menu items as well as their service and a fair amount of menu items to choose from. I have had everything from Wings to Wraps, burgers, quesadillas and have even had our catch of Snapper prepared there (grilled, blackened and fried) and the food is always very good. As far as the atmosphere and views, you can't hardly beat the casual, laid back attitude there! My most recent orders, on this past trip from the last week of September, I had Grouper Fingers and Fries then the following night a Barney Burger a with Sweet Potato Tots, both were excellent in preparation, portions and price! read more

This place is horrible. Horrible food. Prices for drinks are insane and severely watered down. The so called "famous Keylime drink" was nothing but a gross mess of whip cream, water and no alcohol whatsoever ever! The food was equally bad. Bland chicken tenders, horrible appetizers. I was also overbilled and had to sort it out after I paid and seen receipt. Billed for items I didn't even order. The waiter was miserable and very rude. Never checked on us once to see if we needed anything. Just took order and dropped off the horrible food like an hour later and we didn't hear peep from her after despite the only having like 6 customers. I was staying at the resort attached to the property, I can say that for about 500 per night, guest deserve a better place to hang out and eat. It actually made us decide never to go to the resort again either. We stayed at blue green and ate here twice. The fish fry Friday was pretty good, and I'd recommend that. But the second time we ordered key lime wings, giant pretzel, conch fritters, hammock burger, and some other stuff. All of the fried stuff was way to dark and over fried. The pretzel was hard and completely unsalted. The conch fritters has a sourness to them, and we're over cooked. 15 minutes after ordering they said they didn't have the sauce for the wings and just gave us plain wings with some random sauce on the side. The burger was fine. On the second visit the server was clearly more interested in her phone than what was going on in the restaurant. First visit I'd call like a 3.5 second visit was a 1 so I'll call this a 2 and leave it at that. It's a 2 stat joint with a 4 star price. read more

Stayed at the resort here for a week. First experience, I came for the all you can eat fried Mahi. It came with seasoned fries. The Mahi was good. There was about 4 pieces in my first go around. When I asked for more, I was given 2 pieces on the side. This seemed to be an expectation that I wouldn't eat anymore after that - not really all you can eat. I had the key lime colada which wasn't bad - it was just talked up more than it should have been. It's a decent drink. My second experience in the same week, the person working there didn't notice I was trying to order for the longest time. She sat on her phone finger banging it without checking if people needed service. Part of my order was wings with the spicy key lime sauce. After placing an order about 15min later, I was told the spicy key lime sauce wasn't available. It would have been nice to know that beforehand so that I didn't waste my time placing a order for wings. They did give the wings for free with mild sauce but at that point, I didn't want them. I also ordered a Wat R Burger. It was a decent bar burger but nothing to rave about. Live music is fine. Atmosphere is fine. The dock behind the bar, you can catch a nice sunset, nurse sharks, and an occasional manatee swimming. Overall, it was the service for this place that hindered a good review. About the only bad thing about this place is that it is hidden from plain view. It is located all the way back from a time share/condo. Food was excellent, the service was very friendly and pretty fast. The beer selection was mainly craft and they had a live guitar singer. We sat right outside, near the water. We were looking to try something new when we stopped here. It's really a 2 food wise but the view and friendly staff bumped it to a 3. First of all no alcohol, only wine based alcohol which isn't great. So I had a frozen margarita. It was like a watered down version of the real thing. We started with conch fritters since we hadn't had any yet this trip. They were s little bready but decent, and the homemade key lime sauce was awesome. We both had blackened grouper which was literally the tiniest pieces we've ever seen, especially for $17 each. It was cooked well but was only about 3 bites. Fries and coleslaw were from a bag. Also, it's part of a vacation club and right next to the screaming kids in the pool. We did enjoy the view of the water, so if you can stand that, aren't that hungry and don't need real tequila this place is ok. read more

Would very much advise against trying to eat or drink here if you ever want to eat or drink anything Can't speak to the food, but my husband and I went here for dinner and drinks our first night in Marathon for our anniversary dinner. We were there 20 minutes before anyone took our order for what we wanted to drink. After another 20 minutes of no drinks, and being extremely thirsty, I walked to the bar and requested at least my water. I explained we had already been there more than a half hour, and if I could just get my water, I would be happy. Rather than apologizing, the waitress argued with me on how long I had been there. She finally brought the wrong drinks 5 minutes later, then the right ones 5 minutes after that, at which time she informed us that "you are in paradise, so just chill and have patience." She didn't bother to take our food order. Finally, the people next to us, after having observed all this asked their waitress to take our order, since it was obvious we weren't going to get served any other way. That waitress started taking our order, and ours interrupts. We told our waitress, Caroline, that the other waitress has it. We ordered both appetizers and dinner. After another 45 minutes, we did finally get our appetizers. We never did get any more drinks or our dinner. We finally told them thanks, but no thanks, and left. Music and atmosphere were good, but won't bother going back knowing the drinks take up to 45 minutes to get one, and the food never comes. They need to hire more, and preferably decent help. read more
