First off your you havent been to the mountains recently please go they are breath taking and I cant help but want more and more of them the farther I am from them. So this tucked away little treat is called the Boone Bagelry they specialize in homeade bagels and other lush breaskfast items. I had they everything bagel stuffed with eggs cheese and sausage, hashbrows, and tea. I was worried when the plate first arrived it wasnt going to fill me up but dont let it decieve you I was more that full when my guest and I left the table. Prices are well within reason as well only costing $17 dollars for the two of us. In addition the tea was decent the water should be hotter for a good strong steep but their a bagel place so I wont hold to much against them. Overall for a nice sunday brunchI would so but it wasnt enough to make my top list really, nothing wowed but it didnt really dissapoint either. xoxo read more

If I could have anything right now I would have a Bagelicious sandwich, garlic bagel, with the fried egg, bacon, ham and feta cheese. This place is my favorite breakfast restaurant! You really can't go wrong with the Bagelicious, if you aren't ordering that you're doing this restaurant wrong! This is the only bagel shop in Boone, so they do get credit for that. Overall, this bagel shop is just not good when comparing the thousand other bagels I have tried. The bagels themselves are hard and dry, and the cream cheese taste like the ones you buy from the grocery store. Don't understand the hype. I couldn't even finish my bagel sandwich and didn't bother to take it home. You can probably fix a better bagel at home, just go buy some bagels and cream cheese. We waited 15 minutes to be served, were told that they were out of two different things on their menu (at 10:30 in the morning) and waited another 30 minutes for our food. The food itself was slightly better than mediocre, but not worth the wait. Again...45 minutes to get our food at a bagel shop. read more

I am an App grad but never went to Boone Bagelry when I was a student. Twenty years later I made it! It is a seat yourself establishment and as you might expect, everyone who worked there was a student. I ordered a veggie omelet and was trying to decide between hash browns or a bagel but to my delight, you get BOTH! The food was delicious and I must say, the raisin bagel was one of the best I've had. Our waitress was brand new but was sweet and checked in with us often. Coffee refills were free, fountain soda refills were NOT. That kinda sucked...especially since it was fountain Pepsi and not in a bottle. I understand additional fees for bottles...not for fountain. The ice was awesome crunchy ice, and the cup was tall, but still...annoyed at paying for refills. The food was good and as a vegetarian it was nice to see a large selection of no meat options utilizing tofu and tempeh. My friend got the Tempeh sanwich and while good, was drenched in soy and so salty he couldn't eat it all. The bathroom was small and right next to the kitchen. It smelled good but was a basic, small bathroom. Not horribly clean, bot disgustingly dirty either. After years of hearing how great it was, I was a little disappointed. Good food. Customer service and organization needs a lot of work. I placed a pickup order over the phone. Stood at the pickup window for about 20 minutes without being acknowledged by any of the 5 workers behind the counter. I eventually asked about my order and was told that it was ready, and I was supposed to have let them know when I arrived. Not sure how I was supposed to know that when everyone else was getting their name called out loud when their order was ready. The workers were running around like chickens with their heads cut off, even when half the restaurant was empty. I work in one of the busiest restaurants in the high country, I understand things get busy and hectic, but not even acknowledging a customer who has clearly been waiting an extended amount of time is quite ridiculous. I am always happy to wait a little longer for food or service, especially given the staffing shortages in recent times, but 20+ minutes without so much as a "Hello" from staff was a bit much. Food tasted good, but not worth the price. The coffee tasted old (every time I've been it tastes old) and the bagel sandwich I ordered was the size of a McGriddle, if not smaller. Also they serve everything on plastic and styrofoam which is a huge waste of money and resources. My first & last time @ Boone Bagelry. I got the apple bagel French toast with cream cheese & water on 2/16/15 10am. The French toast only tasted like GARLIC and when I couldn't make it taste better by covering it with sugar, I asked them to remove it from my check (since I was with friends I couldn't wait for another order to be made). The manger, Donna, still made me pay for the cream cheese (.99), which wasn't eaten and the water (.30) plus tax (.09) so I left with an empty stomach and paying $1.38. The manager named Donna never even came to the table or talked to me after I sent the garlic French toast back. The waitress Hope was VERY NICE and it wasn't her fault! But I'll be telling all my Boone friends not to give the Boone Bagelry business. There's plenty of other company's I'd rather support after this disappointing visit. Funny thing is. As a local Boone resident, I have been going to Boone Bagelry for 25 years and I've never been as disappointed with the service as I was today. Usually the service is slow but normally the staff is friendly. Today, however, was a different story. This restaurant is a "seat yourself" establishment. There was no one else waiting for a table, only people waiting for take out orders. When I walked in, there were at least 4 tables that were available but had not been cleaned yet. We sat at one of these tables, as we've done many times before. We were just going to patiently wait for them to clean off the table. Shortly after sitting down, a red headed waitress with glasses came up to our table and said, "Don't sit here when we haven't cleared the table." She was extremely rude but we of course apologized and felt badly, even though no one has ever had a problem with us doing this before. I have also seen other customers do this as well. She took our drink order and when she returned with the drinks she said, "It's going to be a while before I can take your order." Again, she said it in a super rude way but we understood that it was busy. She then proceeded to spend the next 20 minutes taking other table's orders, doing other things to appear busy, and walked by our table on a number of occasions ignoring us each time. At this point, we were extremely fed up. We left money for our drinks and left. I have honestly never been treated with this level of disrespect at a restaurant before. Especially in my hometown of Boone. The food at your restaurant is AMAZING but the service is absolutely terrible. Went to have breakfast with my daughter. We sat down outside and waited 10 mins before a server came out. Then she went to other tables that sat after we did. When we asked her to order she was rude and stated that she could only take drink orders and not food orders at this time because they were extremely busy. The Bagelry is a pretty good local bagel place on King St. It is bigger than it looks from the outside, as there is a separate dining area in the back. Fare consists of bagels and full on breakfast options (omelettes, pancakes, etc). The menu is also sizeable for lunch and dinner options. Apparently they are also open late night. I enjoyed their large list of cream cheese options (ranging from fruit additives such as blueberry to savory options such as olive and pimento). Service was very slow. They seemed to have enough staff on hand, but perhaps their kitchen is small or process inefficient? I would think twice about going again due to the wait, but would consider picking up a bagel at the counter to-go. read more

Cold eggs, When I asked for a redo-- I received my same sandwich microwaved. I have had Food Poisoning. No fun. Today my family and I went to Boone Bagelry early in the morning, and after the experience, we will never be eating there again. My fiance's eggs that she ordered were barely cooked, and she was afraid to eat them, with the egg whites being so under done. I ordered the greek omlet with the garlic bagel and grits. The Greek omlet wasn't even edible; it tasted like dirty dish water. The Bagel was so over toasted, and the flavor matched that of a bagel you could buy out of any discount grocery store. Once I added lots of salt and butter to my grits, those were the most edible part of my meal. My whole family left without finishing any of our food, and this place wasn't cheap. In total for three people it was 28$ that I feel like we shouldnt have had to pay. When we were sitting there, talking about how good Waffle House is compared to this place..... it's NOT a good thing. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more
