This place is way too busy for their own good. Have lived in Boone for years and ordered from Bagelry multiple times. Quality of food has gone down, service seems too busy to really give their best. Also, if you can't do delivery at a reasonable pace, you shouldn't have delivery at all. Ordered two bagels and it took an hour and a half for them to arrive. Total college crowd, college servers, and college-quality food... The eggs and sausage I got don't touch the quality that I got from Melanie's a few steps down the road... definitely expect mediocre here. EXCEPT for the bagel... we got an everything wheat bagel with jalepeno creme cheese to go and it was very good. The waitress was decent, she prefaced her introduction with - if you don't want to wait a long time, don't order the pancakes, waffles, or .. can't remember the third thing. So pretty much, if you want quick service - order a bagel. :) I appreciated the candor, but it set the precedent up front for what was to come in terms of food quality. read more

A long standing family owned and operated business which is a staple in the High Country. The food is fresh and tasty and the service is excellent. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed and worth the effort to find parking downtown on busy days. read more

Bagel sandwich was really good. Grits looked watery but they were so good. Coffee was tasty although would prefer ceramic mugs over paper. Server was focused and pleasant. Smiled when I saw they had pats of butter...old-school for sure. Will definitely be a regular stop for our family! read more

For those of us who are real deli hounds...and not just someone who wants a sandwich or "something for breakfast", the only place in the mountains on NC for bagels or pastrami on rye is Boone Bagelry. Everything is homemade when possible. The Pastrami is just right...the rye just right. And the bagels aren't lumps of gluten that will keep for a week in a plastic bag. They're real - so eat them the day you buy them. Or eat there and watch the parade on King Street. There is free parking in their very small lot (6 cars) but it's worth a walk and a meter fee. read more

So happy there are now 2 locations! This is a fantastic place to get good quality food at an affordable price. Service is fast and friendly and they even deliver and are open late some evenings. When I came here freshmen year it seemed like the pinnacle of Boone. Rustic and quaint, in our hungover madmen stupor it felt like the place we were destined to end up. And we kept ending up there, always waiting in the same lines and being treated by the same staff. What I'm saying is I've been here a lot. One particular morning, the wait was long and the place was packed with fellow hungover college students. When my friends and I finally got a table we were waited on by the completely apathetic albeit hip staff. Our waiter did not know the answer to any of our questions and could hardly keep straight what drinks they offered. Finally our orders were placed and we settled into the truly pleasant atmosphere in the outside seating section, surrounded by well behaved dogs and fellow happy drunks. Our tranquility did not last unfortunately since we ended up waiting over an hour for our food to come out. Mind you, this is a BAGEL joint. I had work in the afternoon and was worried I'd run late so I asked my waitress if I could have the check. I explained that I had to work soon, she said "sure" and then promptly never returned. I had to leave money with my friend and rush off to work before either check or food arrived. That morning was by far the worst of my bad experiences here, but hardly the only one. This place is consistently terrible. the bagel chips and the cream cheeses are really good. read more

The only reason this place stays in business is because of the location and there really aren't very many other places around to eat breakfast. Service is always horrible. I waited at least 20 minutes for the server to take my order and she had an awful attitude. The prices do not reflect the quality of food. Will not be visiting Boone Bagelry anymore. read more

I went here with 4 of my friends today to grab a quick bite. My friend happened to tip her water over and we struggled to find napkins. Eventually, our server came back and when we asked politely for napkins, she responded with an eye roll and a sigh. Even the table next to us agreed that she was rude. Really good bagels, except they are a little thick and cakey not fluffy at all. I love to get the everything bagel with cream cheese, except I always have to ask for light cream cheese because if I don't they put a slab of cream cheese almost as thick as the bagel itself- I can't even stomach it. My main complaint comes from and order I made a couple of months ago that I still can't get over. I was ordering a breakfast sandwich on a bagel, and asked for sliced turkey instead of ham. The woman taking my order said it would be a $5 up charge for turkey instead of ham, which seems absolutely ridiculous seeing as that is almost the price of the sandwich itself. I have no clue how this pricing is determined, but it just feels like a complete scam. Other than that, the customer service is always great. I would definitely recommend calling and placing an order and picking it up, as the line can get pretty long especially on weekends, and with the location being so small due to the dining area being closed bc of covid, it is impossible to socially distance while waiting for food. I personally think the should open up the dining area as a waiting area so that customers can adequately social distance. They are definitely staffed enough to be able to clean this area as needed. Wish I could rate 2.5 instead of 3. read more

I got mealy pancakes with the powder still in it. It was horra-awful. The waitress rolled the eyes at us when we asked for the check. Very pricy, and long wait (about 50 minutes). The eggs were cold and bits of plastic, and so was the bagel. Overall, a subpar experience. read more

Terrible service... arrived at 11:45 and waited a whole HOUR and 15 minutes for our food. There are only four of us!! They have one server for the outside area and she checked on us 2 times... once to get our drinks and once to give us food. After waiting that long guess what?? Very disappointed in Boone Bagelry. We sat at a table and waited over 40 minutes after placing our order (and waiting for at least 20 to get a table). The waitress was rude and didn't check on our drinks once during this long wait. We left without eating. I don't expect to return for such poor service. I parked one block away from Boone Bagelry and put two quarters in the parking meter for 30 minutes of parking. I ordered two toasted bagels with cream cheese. I had waited the full 30 minutes before I left to avoid paying a parking ticket. They were very busy when I went in, but 30 minutes for two toasted bagels is absolutely outrageous. I will not go back. The place is a mess. I have attempted to go twice. Both times it was so busy that the line was out the door. The one time I went in to order, my food took so long that I walked out before getting it. The front of the restaurant is very unorganized - the room is very small and the line at the counter was spilling out the door and blocking pathways for the servers to get to their tables. It was pretty clear they were giving priority to tables that were seated instead of orders to-go, as several people that were already seated got their food before take out customers. read more

Whether you want to grab a great breakfast sanmmie or a quick diner-esque breakfast, Boone Bagelry is the place to go. Ideally situated on the eastern edge of the main drag in Boone, I will stop by when oatmeal just ain't cutting it. This morning, for example, I grabbed a Bagelicious (overstuffed style, obviously): bacon, ham, overhard egg, cheese, on a bagel of your choice (sesame, obviously). Pro tip: get tomato (as I do) or some other condiment, as this delicious sandwich can be a tad dry. Also, be sure to bring cash--you get a 5% discount for flashing paper. read more

They have the best bacon egg and cheese overstuffed bagels and I always leave with another 3-4 bagels to take home since they're so cheap. I would give them 5 stars but the coffee is not good and the inside could be a little cleaner. Love everything else about the place though. Update: I went and got an overstuffed bacon egg and cheese bagel to go and when I got home it had ham in place of extra bacon. Wish they would've told me that they didn't have enough bacon instead of allowing me to pay for over stuffed and not give me what I ordered. read more

I am not one for leaving reviews. But I have never been spoken to in this way when ordering food. I placed an order at 10.24 am I called at 11.50 to ask how much longer it would be before we received our food. The gentlemen was very rude, repeating "I don't know what to tell you buddy". One I am not your "buddy". Two customers deserve to know that your busy when we call. Not when we call back an hour and twenty minutes later disgruntled and hungry. Three when a customer says that they are going to file a complaint with the owners they should not be told to "have at it". That is just unacceptable and poor customer service. This is the second time I have received poor service via the phone. The other time I was told that they may not deliver to me because I refused to pay! I did not know that if my food took two hours AND IT WAS WRONG ORDER THAT I SHOULD PAY? The lady on the phone told me that's exactly what I should have done and I quote " least you could have done is paid for the food". Just not the type of service I am accustom too, nor will I ever venture to try again. read more

I have lived in Boone for six years. And, for six years, Boone Bagelry has failed to get a phone system that can take care of its customers. 9 out of 10 times that I've called over the years, they haven't even answered my call. When I do get an answer, they tell me delivery is not an option because they are too understaffed to take me on as a customer. On top of all that, the bagels are not fresh. They are driven up the mountain from somewhere else. They need to become a competent restaurant and hire more employees, as well as make their own fresh bagels. They've had more than enough time to get it together. Shame. read more

A table of four seated themselves in Boone Bagelry on a snowy Saturday morning after an alcohol-ridden night. They just want some reasonably tasty food--a simple enough request, one might think. They were disappointed after the first ten minutes of waiting with no service. Their orders were taken, and they were assured with a smile that their food would be "right out." They did not expect, however, that definitions of food coming "right out" could differ so greatly. Twenty minutes elapsed. A table of two that arrived during their stay received food within ten minutes of arriving. Twenty more minutes elapsed. After forty minutes waiting for food that did not seem to be coming, the group contemplated leaving. Two of the four had already ordered coffees they wished they could just pay for so they could leave and seek sustenance elsewhere, but alas there was no waitress to be found. They were trapped when suddenly a waitress appeared, seeming very surprised when asked about the probability of food ever coming. Ten minutes later food arrived. It is inarguable that what arrived was food... but the quality (lack thereof) was truly questionable. A poppy seed bagel with hardly any poppy seeds came cold (although toasted) and with a cream cheese: bagel ratio of 400:1. A hot bagel breakfast sandwich also arrived cold, in addition to cold egg patties that seemed to have skipped all the steps between the freezer and the plate. Even the TOAST was cold. Needless to say, these four diners were disappointed. They had sought out simple breakfast food to settle their stomachs, but instead were given the task of trying to find an available staff member for about an hour. No part of this was enjoyable. read more

The only reason I give this place two stars instead of one is because the service is wonderful. The presentation and food is not good at all altogether very cheap in quality. Prices are okay. There really isn't any fresh food at all. For a place that prides itself on its bagels, they are not good at all. The King Street location could use better atmosphere inside.
