The bagels here are pretty good, but not the best I've ever had. My main reason for the 3 star rating was more to do with the timing of food prep and customer service. I was first to order in my group of 4 and ordered egg and cheese on a bagel and added tempeh and was very excited for this rare vegetarian item. However all of my friends received their bagel sandwiches within the next 10 minutes, but 20 minutes later, I was still waiting. I asked at the counter for an update and the server was extremely rude while telling me that they were busy and they had a lot of call ins. Had my bagel not been the only one unserved, I would've been more understanding, but she was also extremely rude in how she responded with her tone of voice. When I finally did get my bagel, I very was disappointed because the tempeh was wayyyy too salty and I didn't even like it after all that waiting. Some girlfriends and I recently stopped by Boone Bagelry for a quick bite before heading out on a long hike. I have to give it two stars because of the poor service we received here. The bagels were fine (shoutout to the jalapeno cream cheese, you real), but nothing was good enough to make up for our wait. Out of the four of us, three ordered bagel sandwiches and one ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Two bagels came out fairly quickly, even though they were the last two ordered. We waited for the third bagel for another ten minutes, then an additional ten minutes more for the fourth bagel. When we inquired why they were taking longer, the staff said (in a faux empathetic voice), "we're just really busy." I would understand if they all took a long time, but the later orders came out before the earlier ones. Additionally, both times we asked about our orders, there were at least four employees standing around talking. Although the table service was almost neglectful, the food and price point will bring me back again. Me and my family were visiting Boone and needed a place to come eat breakfast quickly. We stopped by Boone Bagelry because my dad has been here before and enjoyed it. I checked out the reviews before we came and saw it got fairly got reviews so I was excited to try it out. Our service was great and we were seated and helped within 5 mInutes of arrival. Our waitress was very attentive and came back to check on us every few minutes as well as her other tables (which was a few considering it was a holiday) & our food came out within 20 minutes. I got a bagel and scrambled eggs. The food didn't look as appetizing as it had in the other reviews but again I assume this may have been due to the fact they were very busy. I was disappointed to find a piece of hair in my eggs and a piece of bacon in my bagel. The bacon wasn't that big of a deal because I understand it may have fallen into my food but due to the fact I'm strictly against meat im glad I didn't bite into it without checking. My sister also found an eggshell in her pancakes ! :( was disappointed in the food but will definitely give it a second shot if I'm ever in the area again so that I can improve my review !! read more

Bagels are actually angel halos... covered in delicious cream cheese and the occasional "everything" seasoning. Knowing this fact, I was excited to try Boone Baglery. The atmosphere is great. It is a "come as you are" to this "hole-y" place of bagel dream. Certainly a college student's choice on the weekend and was bustling with patrons throughout the time we were there. Our waiter was nice and informed us that the kitchen was a bit backed up and apologized for our wait. No big deal, we were happy to be seated. The menu has a lot for everyone... bagels, sandwiches, salads and the like... the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get as well. Overall the taste was mediocre. I ordered the patty melt and it wasn't seasoned. I asked a few questions about the menu and while the waiter was super sweet, she was kinda "meh" about the options... I understand now... the food reflects her attitude. My husband is typically very easy to please with breakfast food and he was not impressed with his sandwich. It was basic. So I am a bit perplexed to why there was so many people at the restaurant, when it seemed like everyone I went with didn't have great things to say. Maybe we should just stick to the bagels and cream cheese instead of venturing off the path to other bagel creations... but come on... how can a sandwich be bad when it's made with a bagel? Recently went to Boone with my girlfriends. We were planning on a long hike for our Saturday afternoon and stopped by Boone Bagelry for some pre-huke fuel. I ordered the blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese... sooo delicious! The reason I just BB 2 stars is because of the service. One member of our group waited a really long time for her bagel, which did have tempeh on it. I understand that they had to cook some aspect of her order that they didn't have to do with mine, but it seemed like a really long time. This place is such a Boone classic! One of the best bagel sandwiches I've ever had! I got the bagelicious sandwich overstuffed on everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and home fries for a side. Coffee is very good too! Saturday's & Sunday's can be pretty packed and hectic. It's seat yourself and pretty small inside. The flow of things could be better with servers, the kitchen, paying up front etc. Overall though it was awesome! read more

I visited what used to be my favorite bagel shop on december 2, 2018 and I must say O was more than displeased with the service. We waited a a dirty table for 10 minutes before being given menus or having a drink order taken. We then had to wait another 15 minutes for our order to be taken and yet another 20 minutes for our food to come out. The food itself was really good, as usual, but the service and the staff's attention to detail was horrendous. Our table was never wipped down, we had to ask for silverware, syrup was never provided for the french toast and there was no sense of urgency by the management or the staff to try and correct their mistakes or to improve their service. There was simply a lackadaisical approach to everything they did. I will say that neither of the owners (Tony and Donna) were working that day because i know they would not put up with this type of service. I will also mention that I worked at the Bagelry for more than five years starting a delivery driver, then short order cook and also as a waiter. The service i experienced was nothing that was accepted when i worked in the shop nor was it up to the standard of any restaurant i would frequent. Additionally, in speaking with the management (Clark & Elisha) all I was provided with was excuses for the poor service even though Clark was our waiter...ridiculous. I hope the service improves so I can return and have a more pleasant experience like the Bagelry I remember. read more

Not worth it. We were looking for a place to grab brunch on Sunday and expected a wait, but this was ridiculous. We only waited about 20 minutes to be seated, but it was another 20 minutes before the waitress actually took our order. She brought the drinks we ordered, except for one coffee which never came out until were able to catch the waitress half an hour later. We waited nearly an hour for our meal, which was lackluster at best. Bland, boring, and everything is served on disposable dishware which is painfully wasteful. The only thing that came quickly was the check. We overheard a waitress apologizing to other customers, explaining that their kitchen is very small so it takes a long time for food to come out when it is busy. Frankly, if your kitchen can't accommodate a full breakfast and lunch menu, you shouldn't offer it. Stick to bagels to go. read more

Came here yesterday hoping to satisfy my bagel craving! Boy was I disappointed. The bagel was dry and flavorless, not to mention the service was horrible on top of it. I ordered a sesame bagel with cream cheese and jelly on the side with an OJ to go. I asked if the OJ was fresh to which the counter girl responded that it came from a "machine," and when I asked if it was like "Tropicana," she said it was better? We were there during crunch time on a Sunday morning so that had a significant impact on slow service. I found the bagel sandwiches were rather lean and the over stuffed option was $1.50 or so more and only seemed to add an egg but that not clear on the menu. While I had ordered it I didn't get it because of a gaff. All good though because our friend did get it and it was barely noticeable. My boyfriend and I came in to get breakfast. When we came in, no one greeted us so we had to assume that we just pick a seat. We sat there for a few minutes before someone finally asked if we had been helped. Our waitress came over and we ordered a coffee and bagels. My coffee came but the waitress offered no napkins, and there were none on the table or anywhere. This is important because I ended up getting a chocolate mustache and I couldn't find any napkins anywhere. All of a sudden out of nowhere, the power went out. It was like complete chaos as it seemed like they did not know how to manage a crisis. We weren't sure what to do, but no one came over to explain what had happened. We asked if there was any way we could just have a plain bagel not toasted and she acted like this was impossible. They were very rude and we felt like they were just trying to make everyone leave. We had a fantastic time at the Boone Bagelry. I should preface by saying that it's a sunny Sunday, and although it snowed two days ago, today it's 60 degrees. We are on a road trip and have my 6 lb. bichon with us, so we were looking to eat at a place with outdoor seating. Two other restaurants turned us away saying their patios were closed for some reason, and we just happened to pass by the Boone Bagelry. So glad we did! They seated us immediately with no issue; the server was super friendly and accomodating. We had non-meat eaters in our group and were pleasantly surprised by their vegetarian options. The coffee was excellent. We got several different varieties of bagels and cream cheese and they were all superb. And the tempeh! I wish I could recreate that tempeh at home. If we ever find ourselves back in Boone we'll most definitely go out of our way to stop by for some bagels to go. read more

The staff was friendly though and they have a nice outdoor seating area. Of all the times I'd been to Boone, I never went here! ...But I wish I had. The name is incredibly misleading. You'd think Boone Bagelry would only sell bagels, right? Wrong! It's a sit-down restaurant with bagels and a wide variety of other breakfast and lunch items. They serve lunch all day, so if you want a gyro at 8am, they'll give it to ya! It's mostly a sandwich and breakfast spot with a good vegetarian selection. I got the vegetarian sunrise platter. It came with two eggs, tempeh, toast (or a choice of a bagel), and grits (or home fries). The tempeh was perfectly seasoned and arguably some of the best tempeh I've ever had. The grits were a little under seasoned to me, but no big deal! The meal filled me up and I felt like it was a good deal for $7 and some change. Next time I really want to try the lox bagel, but I think $7 is a lot to pay for a bagel with no sides- no matter what the toppings are. They do serve my favorite breakfast juice - V8! Not many restaurants sell it. The waitress was super pleasant and did a fantastic job. I would love to come back and try more of the menu options next time I go to Boone. It's been around since the '80s so that's a mega-plus to me. Many of the long time Boone classics are succumbing to corporate competition that seems to be piling into the area. First off your you havent been to the mountains recently please go they are breath taking and I cant help but want more and more of them the farther I am from them. So this tucked away little treat is called the Boone Bagelry they specialize in homeade bagels and other lush breaskfast items. I had they everything bagel stuffed with eggs cheese and sausage, hashbrows, and tea. I was worried when the plate first arrived it wasnt going to fill me up but dont let it decieve you I was more that full when my guest and I left the table. Prices are well within reason as well only costing $17 dollars for the two of us. In addition the tea was decent the water should be hotter for a good strong steep but their a bagel place so I wont hold to much against them. Overall for a nice sunday brunchI would so but it wasnt enough to make my top list really, nothing wowed but it didnt really dissapoint either. xoxo read more
