Boone Saloon does not care for the safety of its customers. I am ashamed of the management and ownership. This evening my friend experienced a life-threatening medical event. She went unconscious and seized inside the bar (she was not drunk). While talking about her next steps, the owner and several employees circled us, telling us they couldn't have her lying on the floor and that we had to leave. The owner told us to wait outside (in the rain) for an ambulance or they would call the police. Thankfully we were able to get her immediate medical attention, but the owner and employees at this bar did not care about the health and safety of our friend. They made it clear they cared more about their business than the safety of their customers. read more

Bar is for younger crowd. Attempted to play pool it was a 45 minute wait. Drinks were good upstairs. Probably wouldn't go back.

This is supposed to be a Boone saloon, not a Boone salon. Still sufficient. My gorgeous partner ordered a chicken sandwich and a gen and tanic. She liked it, and she likes me, so that's pretty cool. I am not mad, im just disappointed. Im willing to look past all of this for the opportunity to perform nickelback covers on your stage. I swear I'm talented, no one realizes yet tho. This place was incredible. I am a fourteen year old girl, so dining at a bar wasn't my top choice. Actually, they are great for families! We sat outside on a deck. I ordered the superb grilled salmon sandwich, which I 100% recommend. Our server was very friendly and nice. A must go place in Boone! read more

I typically love Boone Saloon and I really enjoy hanging there, however there was an incident today March 16th at 5:00 pm. A member of the staff, not sure if management or bartender, who was tall with a pepper-y gray beard, harassed a group of girls including my girlfriend and her friends. He came over with St. Patrick's Day bead necklaces and asked if we would want any. He then looked at my girlfriend and said "You want some? You know what you've gotta do for these" insinuating that she flash her breasts like in New Orleans. Then, as her friend went to the bathroom, he looked at her and said "Are you gonna flash your t*ts in the mirror in the bathroom?" Later on, he walked by the table looking at the same friend of my girlfriend and said "So did you flash your t*ts in the restroom?" This is incredibly offensive, he continued to harass the girls, and he disrespected my girlfriend. This was an awful experience at an otherwise cool bar. Completely disrespectful. After seeing Lily Tomlin, we decided to go back to Boone Saloon - we had actually been earlier for a drink around 3p, it was not busy at this time. When we returned that night - there was a 5$ cover charge, local band playing, as the night got later the Saloon became busy. We had great conversations out on the deck (inside, the music was just loud enough so, that you could hold a conversation) with women that we had just met, whom had also went to the Lily Tomlin concert. We provided good business to the Saloon - multiple rounds of drinks were purchases for a group of 7 women. Upon leaving, with 2 of the women (group of 3) LYFT was contacted to drive us back to the Marriott, and a last round of drinks were ordered. We had our drinks in our hand as we walked out the door to wait on LYFT - it was arriving in approximately 10 minutes. Out of no where, 2 men working there, aggressively approached us, 1 man directing the other 2 back inside, the other male worker (without giving me a chance to move inside on my own) picked me up around the waist and, again aggressively placed me back inside. My girlfriend, confronted him for touching/picking me up in that manner - man 1 then ripped the drinks out of our hands, with threats of calling the police. Now, with drinks gone - we walked out and the LYFT driver was waiting - we left. Boone is not like New Orleans, Vegas, etc, where open containers may be carried outside of the establishment. Yes, while in NC, open containers are not allowed outside of the establishment, the 2 male workers should have never acted in that aggressive manner. And to Boone Saloon, I have recommendations for your establishment....put a sign up saying "no drinks beyond this point". And secondly, I really do not want to believe this is the case, but that the 2 male workers were discriminating based on the fact we are lesbians...if so, take the RAINBOW FLAG down!!! read more

What can I say other than the fact you better make sure you keep your phone on you at all times. Phone was stolen at the bar made numerous attempts to get with the manager to see if they had footage of the thief. I was assured that they could share so we could get the police more involved. After over 8 contacts with the bar to "meet with the manager" apparently my $700 iphone with 20 payments left was not as important to them. Great local bar! Pool tables, jukebox, local beer on tap, live bands, $1 PBRs, Sunday brunch, this place has it all. If you are there on a Tuesday, don't miss Taco Tuesday, yummy tacos for cheap, cheap, cheap. If you aren't there on a Tuesday, try some of their other food, everything's delicious. I like the veggie burger and the salmon. Or visit on Sunday for brunch. Its all reasonably priced. It has recently been renovated after a fire. I think this is the best bar in Boone! read more

You guys! They have two ladies' rooms!!! I imagine they come in handy on busy nights. I thought it was really nice touch. My husband and I stopped in for a snack as we were passing through town. The beer list was good, the service was friendly, and nachos were surprisingly tasty. I loved all the seating options, the pool tables, and the old school arcade games. They also have neat, though kind of confusing, decor that combines 50s diner with mid-century modern and a little rustic charm. Great option on King St. read more

One of the only bars in town I would recommend. Bar food is better than average and the atmosphere is nicer than the typical college bar. Ate and drank here many times as it is a favorite haunt of hip students and professors. read more

The owner sucks. When demanding for me to wear a mask on my way into the bathroom (literally hand on the door). I thought he was joking. On my way out of said bathroom he grabs me by my wrist and tells me I'm done and to get out. (Mind you this was my first beer at the establishment). He's lucky he didn't get hit. read more

We found a great place to watch the World Cup while in the area. Huge projector screen and even turned the sound on for the game! Great pricing on beers including $3 Stellas. Local beers on tap. The bartender with the beard that "worked" this Saturday night, July 22nd was a piece of garbage. I asked for an IPA and he poured me a PBR, I told him to stop because I didn't want that drink and he just ignored me and kept pouring it and set it down in front of me. I tried to tell him I didn't order that drink but he kept ignoring me and walked off. I went to the end of the bar and tried to tell him again, and he looked at me and CONTINUED to ignore me. I've never encountered such a terrible person or bartender in all my life. I have no idea how he got hired but I won't be back. read more

this joint is thoroughly krazy.. i mean what is the deal! i find nothing that redeems the quality of this dive.. too krazy for my blood! i just cannot take how krazy this place is.. the food? don't even get me started! who orders food in a little dive?? i have found myself on more than one occasion almost overcome with the urge to nosedive through the window to the street while standing in the house of krazy - i'm talking about this bar, by the way! never a dull moment in this joint, but i'd almost prefer a dull experience over the sheer kraziness of this place. cheers read more

Boone saloon definitely has its own culture, and if you fit into that, the atmosphere can be great. The food and the drinks, however are mediocre at best. We've visited for a few music shows, but I wouldn't go for the bar. read more

Honestly somewhat terrible service. Waited at the bar for 30 minutes while the blonde bartender kept looking at me and taking customers in front of me, while looking at me. I watched and listened to her and she cussed out a customer for trying to get her attention, which was completely valid, considering that she was an awful bartender and completely rude. The other bartender was serving 4/5 of the bar and being nice. Never been to a bar with a more rude bartender. She was prioritizing all of her friends over people who had been there waiting for long waits. Something needs to be said to her. Awful experience. Not sure if I will return again. Other bartenders were friendly. Asked another bartender if he could keep my tip instead of splitting it with the rude bartender because she doesn't deserve a penny of my money. My husband and I went to lunch here today. We arrived a little after noon and seated ourselves. No one greeted us for a few minutes. There were a few people sitting at the bar drinking beer, one guy in the corner on his laptop and 6 others at two tables, so pretty quiet and slow for lunch time. After about 5 minutes of sitting down the bartender came over and took our order. She didn't write anything down, which always makes me a bit nervous, but I ordered a salad and my husband ordered a philly cheese steak sandwich and asked for a small house salad to be brought out before the sandwich. After 25 minutes passed, we got up to ask about our order and was smartly told that it was coming and that they had other orders before ours (we only saw the 6 other people who were there when we arrived). We were about to sit back down when the girl who was stomping toward the kitchen turned back and very hatefully said, "well you can just go ahead and leave, go ahead and waste food and money." So, we left. We walked down the street to another restaurant, was greeted, seated, ordered, served, and paid in less than 30 minutes...and the place was packed full of people. Boone Saloon seriously needs to train its staff on customer service 101. Had she been remotely nice, we would've stayed and ate what we ordered. Instead, she was rude and hateful on top of being a horrible server. Slow kitchen, hateful staff. Not worth the time or money. read more

Not sure why this is under "restaurants"- we went here to hear a friend of a friend's band play- it was the birthday bonanza, and there were just tons of people crowded in. Really wholesome crowd overall - but everyone seemed like they were having a blast. 5-6 beers on tap, several others/wine/etc available at the bar. Live music, but also a jukebox, 2 pool tables, smokers about (boo!), but once the lights dimmed, could have been anywhere in Cali with the live local music vibe. 'cept that it was blue-grass and that doesn't happen too often in my neck o the woods. Dug it overall. 'cept for the smoke- gotten a bit used to smoke-free zones. Not many tattoo'ed peeps that night, but thankfully, it's next door to a tattoo parlor for a nice mix of cultures. read more

I had lunch here and ordered the spinach salad with marinated portobello mushrooms and the house vinaigrette. Overall, a lite lunch but it was really good and just what I wanted. The mushrooms had a surprisingly great flavor and the vinaigrette was pretty awesome. Also, I went with a large group- about 14 people- and the staff was great. A bearded bar tender actually served us while also taking care of a few people lunching at bar, and he was super polite. He even split out checks all individually without complaint; something you don't see often. So, while I think the overall feel is more evening-bar-spot-for-drinks, it wasn't a bad lunch spot at all. My friends and I have went here about three times. Two of these visits were terrible. Each time we were kicked out 20 minutes before close (2 AM) when we still had full drinks. We had cashed out and were sitting there minding our business finishing our drinks and planned to leave after that. What looked like the bouncer came up to us and said we needed to "get out" and that he would call the cops if we didn't leave. We went upstairs to exit and the employees up there were yelling at us, "why are you still here??" We had also put money into the jukebox for two songs that never got played. Other patrons had said there songs they PAID FOR didn't get played either. I am a bartender myself and I understand that the employees want to get out at a decent hour, but that doesn't mean you have to be rude to your customers. I work at a hotel/resort bar and recommend Saloon to tourists and travelers, but not anymore. Not only that, my friends and I will choose somewhere else to go from now on. read more

We have been before but will never go again. The waitress took our order, gave us drinks and never came back to our table until an hour and fifteen minutes later to drop our bill off. We had to go to the bar for more beer and get a pitcher of tea for our table. I am in the food service industry and understand you you get busy. Being honest and upfront with your clients on the progress of your order is key. Taking over an hour for food and no drink refills is unacceptable. read more

Taco Tuesday, good beer selection, great live music, pool tables, funky atmosphere, terrific jukebox and a friendly/lively crowd in a convenient location make this the best bar in Boone, hands down. They pull down the projector screen for major sporting events and the bartenders/owners are great.
