I was in a couple days ago and A random dog came into the store (Not a service dog BTW) And the supposably store manager SAM ran up to the dog like it has never seen one before. I was going to buy a pair of $200 boots. I found one of the boots in my size but the other one wasn't there. When the customer service lady came over to help she couldn't speak English! DO NOT GET UR BOOTS STRETCHED HERE! I Went in to take advantage of the memorial weekend sale and needed assistance for some boots I was interested in. Literally could not find one employee to help. I had to go to the counter to ask for help which the cashier said they would send someone over. 10 mins go by and no1 showed up so ultimately I ended up leaving and getting the boots straight from Ariat. I went back to boot barn since they offer free boot stretching. They make u sign a waiver stating they're not liable if anything is wrong with them when they return them back to us. Mind u I took in my brand new never worn expensive boots to get stretched. I highly recommend just stretching them out on ur own. The way I got my Brand new boots back looks like they took a brush to the suede and scrubbed it. There's white scuffs on them and over all no longer look brand new and not nearly how I took them in. Now I know why they make u sign a waiver. It was free but I got below quality service. Very disappointed since these boots were not cheap and now the suede looks so worn out. read more

My husband went in a few days ago in need of a new pair of work boots, mind you he's given this store his business in the past, well this time he purchased a different brand name of boots with them, and they ran a little big, so we go in hopes that we can exchange them, the boots were never worn, they're still beautiful but guess what the manager said? Nope, we can't return them, not even an exchange! They had the size tag still intact but because they didn't have the name brand tag intact, they couldn't even do an exemption, brand new not even worn, with two babies, waiting for management to get to the front because the associate couldn't perform the transaction without a "manager code" the line was getting longer, babies & other guest getting inpatient. I went looking for my first pair of boots and the female employee with glasses, Amber, made that experience really undesirable. We had asked her a simple question about sizing and she doesn't even answer it, instead, she tried upselling us on some spray for boots we hadn't even chosen yet. We needed help with something and she decided she didn't want to help and tried going her own route. What point is it if the employees are there to help but they don't actually do so ? Manager which is an older lady with blondish hair seem overwhelmed with all the customers in line and was yelling at one of her employees to help her with the endless boxes covering the entrance. As a flamboyant gay man I thought for sure I'd feel extremely uncomfortable in the machismo atmosphere of the Salinas Boot Barn. I could not be more wrong. This store is so masculine that it goes all the way around the circle again to flaming. Decorative footwear! Paisley shirts! Enormous shiny belt buckles! I was in heaven. I found a nice pair of black leather boots with eagle embroidery on sale for $100. Everyone always compliments me on them and damn do I feel pretty. read more

I just hate shopping in Salinas, but i like to go to the Boot Barn (during the day time) for all my wranglers, shirts, work boots, dress boots, hats, etc. My only complaint would be they don't stock enough wranglers in my size 33x38. I like to by 3-4 pairs at a time, I'm lucky if i can get a single pair. They have plenty of 38x32 it seems there are a lot of short - wide people in Salinas. Love coming to Boot Barn. Living in El Paso, TX for so many years you learn to like certain items and styles it's a bit hard to find in this area that doesn't cater too much to country style/decor. Once my husband and I walked in and were immediately greeted by someone. Wide selection of clothing; however, the one downside that my husband ran into is that the pants on the floor stock do not cater to tall people since my husbands leg length is 34. They did inform us if he liked a style he could order it. They have a lot of shirts that cater to his long torso, recommend the Cinch button ups. Lots of home decor selection, which I really enjoy, and of course the music in the store is always country. All the sale associates have smiles of their faces and are very helpful. The only one downside to this would be that there is no baby changing station in their bathrooms. I ended up changing my baby across 2 stools used for trying on boots. Wouldn't hurt to have at least one bathroom with a changing table. read more

I went in today 1/28/2016 and I was looking for work boots that were made for comfort. I was helped within 3 minutes of walking in and that pleased me, she asked if I needed help and I replied what I was there for and within 5 minutes I had 3 different kinds to choose from for my particular job. Very helpful and I walked out buying work socks to go with my new boots. This place is way better than any chain store out there that sells you cheap items. I will be back to this store in the near future, they have a rewards program as well. read more

This is the WORST boot barn!! I have stopped shopping there once only to be convinced by San Martin's employee to give it another shot. So I did.. Well once again they fell short to my expectations. I was getting married and all my grooms men plus fathers were wearing wranglers and boots. I was very particular on the shirt I wanted them to wear and I only know of boot barn and L.A. Hearn caring the shirt. So I went to boot barn. All my grooms man minus 1 and fathers picked out their clothes and boots. I had asked then if it was possible to put the items on hold as not everyone had the money to buy the items but they would have them 2 days later. I explained to the sales associate that helped us the situation of a wedding being in 2 weeks and they had very limited stock. And she said it would be no problem to hold it for two days. We placed the items on hold and left. The following day I went back with one of the grooms man to purchase his things since he was unable to make it the day before. We found all his stuff plus a cowboy hat. I asked the sales associate if my items from the previous day were still on hold (just to be sure) and she said yes. So we purchased one grooms mans clothing leading his hat behind to get cleaned. So now it is two days later as I said I would come back to get the items only to be told they had put them all back! Every since item! When I tried to find all the items they were already sold.. My grooms boots were already put back and sold which they only had one pair his size left when we picked them out. The white wrangler button ups as well as the black wranglers that I picked out they didn't have but 2 of the 5 I had picked out left. ] I asked the sales associate if San Martin might have them to only be told that they could not do a store to store transfer. (Which is not true) I then asked to pick up the hat that was left the previous day only to be told that it as well was put back because it was not paid for. (Also not true) Thankfully there was one smart employee in there that found the hat in the bottom of a hat pile. I was disgusted with the store. I took my business to San Martin and they were wonderful. But once again I will no longer shop at boot barn Salinas for the lack of customer service. I took a pair of jeans to be returned that had been purchased over 4 months ago and of course I didn't have a receipt! The manager was extremely kind and polite to me and didn't make me feel like I was trying to "get away with something" and told me she was sure she'd be able to do something for me. As luck would have it, she found my purchase on my store rewards card and I received a full refund as store credit! Fantastic! Her name was Melissa and she couldn't have been more gracious or accommodating! The inventory is terrific there and I was so happy to see all the home items they had in stock. I encourage you to try this store because they don't just sell boots! They sell lovely clothes for all shapes and sizes along with great home decor items. Plus, the service is outstanding! read more

Well my wife picked me up 2 pairs of wranglers pants on 12/19/16. On 12/22/16 she noticed that one pair the seam wasn't sewed note they both still had the store tags on them. My wife asked me to go by and have them exchange item for a good pair, after waiting in line for 15 minutes the sales person looked over the the pants then went to get a new pair that were good , he put them in the bag and off I went. Once I came in from work I handed me wife the pants GUESS what the store employee didn't remove the thief item attached to pants. NOW this is the THIRD trip to the store in Salinas that I've wasted my time and fuel to fix this problem I live out in the country. Now I'm in line almost 20 mins they finally remove device I asked for some kind of disconnect/credit / gift card for my inconvenience, the sales person said they can't do that , but she'd check with her manager ? Well the store employee talked with the manager and the only thing they could do is let be buy more merchandise and I could have the employee discount but it had to be today only!!! My suggestion next time I'll shop else where. read more

Terrible customer service! They have a decent selection of women's clothing and boots, but the time you wait in line to be checked out is longer than the time you spent browsing and trying on items. If you're going on your lunch break, forget about it! I've been there several times because of the clothing, and each time it is the same experience. Managers you really need to work on this! My Experience: Came in looking for cowboy boots and a couple other odds and ends. I hadn't owned boots since childhood and found the staff very helpful in selecting a boot, explaining different styles and benefits of various brands, how the sizing works, etc. The boots are just out there on a rack, so if you wish, you can try on multiple pairs without any help. That is kind of nice as I tend to be more independent once I know what I'm looking for. I was however disappointed in the selection. Namely the lack of pointy toes and leather souls. Lots of wide square toes, roper heels, and rubber soles. Beautiful boots, just not exactly what I think of visually when I think "cowboy boot". I did however fall in love with a beautiful pair of pointy distressed leather Ariats. The staff then helped me select boot trees, care accessories, boot remover tool, etc, (all optional, but appreciated). After selecting my boots, I mentioned the word jeans and the girl that was helping me offered to assist me in picking out the perfect pair. A cute friendly female helping me pick out jeans? Sure! Never had someone offer to help me find the right jeans before. But then she got distracted, had to ring someone else up, asked me to wait next to the register, only for her to get trapped by a line of customers. Eventually I just walked away, and she sent a co-worker running after me to unlock a dressing room. Bit of a bummer. I mean, hey, I don't NEED a personal shopping assistant, but lets try not over promise here. I won't knock her for her good intentions though. Ended up skipping the jeans, but walked out with a nice Justin belt to go along with my Ariats. Other notes : Lots of American made merchandise. They few sales they had were quite the bargain. The belts they stock are much higher quality than something you'd find at the mall, at the same price (if not cheaper). Real leather, made in America. Good stuff. They also carry shirts, jeans, work wear, and western home décor. I'm giving them four stars. A better selection of boots, an air conditioner that was turned on, and bathrooms/dressing rooms that didn't require chasing someone down to unlock them woulda received a fifth star. I'll be back again, but if it's for boots, I'll be shopping around for selection first. read more
