I have been to this Boot Barn a few times. The customer service is wonderful, informative, friendly and attentive. Several months back I found the best boots I have ever had in my life. I love them dearly. Beautiful, high quality and comfortable! My recent experience took my satisfaction to another level. ROXANNE. Wow. This woman is something else! She totally brought my vision to life!! I'm an actor and I needed a specific look-1920s sharp shooter hat for an upcoming film project. WOW. I wanted to cry when I saw the result. She's incredibly talented and she created a product I will cherish forever, (and wear as often as possible). Thank you, Roxanne! I came into boot barn to get these boots for my daughter that's going to be born in 3 weeks. I waited patiently in line behind a customer that was getting several items for Black Friday. I spoke with Ashley about the item and that I was Work until 11 am. Apparently I missed the sale by one hour. I guess Boot Barn needed the $4.99 more then making a sale. Stopped in around 1pm today. Walked in, no one said anything to us. We walked upstairs, still no one ever acknowledging we're in the store. My husband is trying on boots for a good 20 minutes and still no help is offered. We find a pair of boots for $144 on their website they're $129. I ask for that price on THEIR website and she makes up some lame excuse as to why she can't, she was super rude. I'd never shop there. It's way over priced, you can save a TON by going online. The service at this location is excellent. I was allowed to look at and try on work boots without a sales person shadowing me but there was someone close for questions. They have a good selection of work boots and a massive selection of those other boots-for cowboys. I returned my boots because of a manufacturing flaw and they gave me another pair immediately. Hi - This would be the wife... I'm not a shopper, I'm a buyer. Sunday I went in search of jeans. I heard Boot Barn had a good selection and decided to give it a try. When I make a decision to go out and spend my hard earned dollars, I hope for the best. This was definitely not the best. The store was well stocked and I was excited to see so many choices. My husband had been talking about buying Cowboy boots for a while so he went to the back. I found a pair of jeans but the dressing rooms were locked. I approached the counter. There was a family checking out. The blonde clerk looked up at me, then with no acknowledgement, continued her transaction. I thought it was obvious I wanted into the dressing room, so I finally intruded and asked how I could get in. Jesse, aka Justin Beiber, without speaking came from behind the counter and opened the door. He didn't ask if he could help me, just opened the door. I tried on a few pair of jeans while leaving the door to the room open so I could get back in. My husband having not been helped with his boot purchase was now stepping and fetching for me and bringing me more choices. Finally, he'd had enough of assisting me and went to sit in the truck. I did find a nice pair of jeans in spite of the lack of customer service. When I checked out, Casey, the other clerk was joking around with Jesse having a good ol' time. When Jesse asked if I had ever been there before I told him no and that I would probably never go there again. I informed both Jesse and Casey that if either of them had even attempted to see if we needed help that my husband probably would have spent at least $300 on boots. Jesse quickly turned from smiling and friendly to purcy and snippy. I told him I would be noting their lack of CS on Yelp. He handed me my receipt and pointed to the feedback portion and told me that if I wanted to make more direct feedback that I could call use the information on the receipt to do so. Then I left. If I were more into cowboy stuff I'd go Brokeback for Boot Barn. They've got almost anything I've ever imagined western wear would consist of. Boots, shirts, hats, jeans, and even those stringy little tie thingys that you always see in country music videos...it's highly recommended if you need to go buckaroo style for a theme party or even just to change up your style a little bit. The poor reviews are more than likely a reflection of the customer service...it's pretty non existent, and for such a specialized store you'd think they'd be chomping at the bit to help you find what you're looking for. They're not. I'd def come back again if I need this type of attire, but I'm bringing Hank Williams Jr. with to help me pick some gear out. read more

1 star for customer service I only give 3 stars because I was super happy that the 1st pair of jeans I tried on, fit me like a glove!!! Woohoo!! I shopped at the El Cajon store and they didn't have the boot I wanted in my size so they called and placed the correct boot on hold for me here. Well, what is funny is that I heard Ashley from the El Cajon location call and give the employee on the other line the model # of the boot I wanted....but when I got to the Mercury store, it was the wrong boot. Right size...wrong boot. Seriously? Ok, not off to a good start. Ok, so in not wanting to completely waste a drive over here, I started to look around to see if there was anything else I would be interested in and when I turned around to ask the younger, blonde employee who's name I cannot recall at this time...she was nowhere to be found. Actually that's a lie...I did find her, she was over by the men's area talking to some young, good looking cowboy. Not that I blame her...he was cute...but she should have been doing her job. I called her over to ask about a pair of Ariats that I spotted and she came over, clearly unhappy that I asked her to turn her attention away from Mr. Cowboy man and helped me as quickly as she could so that she could run back to the guy who obviously was not a customer but rather someone that she knew. Boyfriend? Hmm...how unprofessional. I caught myself calling her over to the boot area to help me three times. Annoying. Anyway, I asked her to just point me in the direction of riding jeans for women with hips so that I could just hunt myself since clearly she was busy anyway. I bought a pair of Wrangler Aura jeans that fit me perfectly and a pair of boots that I wasn't super happy about but that I did need. I also was not happy about giving this girl my credit card as I kept thinking "Does this girl work on commission?" and "She doesn't deserve this sale at all". I ended up going back to the El Cajon location to see Ashley and she helped me find a boot that I was happier with. I purchased a pair of boots from the store. When I went home I found the same boot on Boot Barns website for $20 less ($169 vs 189) plus free shipping. This was not a special or online sale, it was their normal posted price. When I contacted Boot Barn the said they said they would "pass it on to Corporate". I would suggest that if you find boots you like, you shop the internet, before buying. You may find you will pay less for the boots, get free shipping and no taxes with some sellers. This is solely based on the customer service. I live in Oceanside, and the store I had did not have the size of a boot I wanted to exchange for in stock. The boots were a gift and the person had not given me the receipt, though they had all the tags on them. The staff of the store in Oceanside assured me that I could exchange them if I drove to this location. When I got here, they almost did not return them! What? No... You carry this item, they have the tags on them, and they have clearly never been worn. The originally told me no, but since another store had already confirmed with this store that I could do the exchange and I took thirty minutes to drive here, I was not leaving without the boots. Please check with your manager before you flat out tell the customer NO. It really made me not want to come back to this location. read more

One boot that I bought was a slight smaller than the other boot. A problem I have never encountered at Boot world. The staff told me that nothing could be done. I want to start by saying that boot barn has a great selection of boots, I personally am a size 14W, and with some shoes I am a 15, I have been to boot world and they do not have those sizes, I have gone to Ross, Marshalls and Nordstrom rack, even though they have shoes my size, none of them are of such great quality as provided here in boot world, if their selection isn't enough, their customer service is amazing, I went to find a pair of boots for myself and my wife, I explained to Jill-Marie that I wanted to get my wife boots for her birthday but what I wanted to get her was not available at the store. With an awesome attitude, Jill-Marie went online and found the boots I was looking for and for a better price. Jill-Marie went out of her way and took her time to helped me, it did not feel like she was pushing for the sale or trying to get a commission, the whole staff was very helpful, no pressure, Great atmosphere. I am a huge fan of Boot Barn. I spend alot of money there and usually its a great place to get work wear and my Ariats. The thing is.... When an ad says all Flannels Mens and Womens on sale for 24.99 and in fine print it says, "excluding Pendleton" you would think ok. No Pendletons. But, apparently Carhartt is excluded also. Even if it is hanging on the same rack as the other flannels that are on sale. And then... Dont even honor that it is your fault that is is wrong. Bums me out because I like this place. If you can honor a screw on you part, and at least get a sale. Then you dont need my business. Ill just take my business to Wild Bills where there honir mistakes and will work with their customers. Look, in not trying to be an ass about this but is was clearly a wrong doing on your stores part and to blow a customer off as if you can care less really sucks. read more

I've been searching for the boot store & there isn't much of a huge selection in san diego. I was very glad that I did come across this store, this location specifically!! I already could tell it was going to be a great store because as soon as I walked in, i noticed such a huge selection of boots I originally needed only boots for my toddler but I ended up with leaving with a few wrangler outfits that were very unique !! I'm also so glad that we had great help with their staff I'm extremely happy with all the purchases that I've made for my toddler today. Cindy is NOT the most organized, sharp or well equipped employee to be deemed "Store Manager". I do not know how she has gotten hired in this role, but her knowledge of the store products, item placement, or item prices is extremely sub-par. During my interactions with her from the moment I entered this Kerny Mesa location on Mercury St, she seemed to have not a clue about this store for which she is the manager. All of her questions To me regarding my transaction greatly confused me & caused me to not trust her assistance. She was attempting to assist with a return purchase and threw away my original receipt stating that I did not need it any longer. When I asked her to please hand me my receipt that she had just thrown away, she said that she did not throw anything away. I then asked another employee to please retrieve my receipt from the trash and hand it to me, she did. Pretty scary. My suggestion to all shoppers is to obtain shopping assistance and especially check out assistance from any other employee aside from store manager, Cindy. read more

I entered the store at store 4411 Mercury St., Suite 101A San Diego, Ca 921111 it was around 11:05 am on Sunday, September 15. 2013. I advance to the wrangler jeans. As I entered your store, there were two female clerks one was behind the counter and the other I believe was checking stock. I was never recognized so I went on with my business. I wanted to purchase two wranglers jeans, but before I purchased them. I wanted to try the two wranglers jeans on. I asked one of your female clerks, and I believe her name was Heather if she could unlock the dresser room. It appeared to me that I must have committed a crime by asking her to unlock the dresser room, cause she looked deeply disturbed and had a serious attitude. I was done doing my purchasing, and I proceed to the counter to check out. I noticed that Heather was behind the counter she never looked up and acknowledge me at the same time another associate named Mathias employee number 01690 asked if I was ready for checkout. He was the only one who acknowledge me and asked if I had found everything I needed for today. He asked if anyone helped me, and I stated no, I went on saying to Mathias that these store has employees who have a serious attitude and seem not to enjoy their jobs they make their patrons unwanted. During the holiday weekend I was visiting from Reno NV. I was assisted by a representative named Alicia who was incredibly rude. Her customer service skills were terrible and she proceeded to yell at me multiple times during my transaction. I asked about using our "points" and she was very aggressive and yelled "well you have to tell us!" I would not have made a purchase here if I was not desperate due to the holiday. I understand the holidays can be tough in customer service (I work in customer service myself) but treating others with equal respect is a minimum. Alicia was very bitter and made comments about resenting her work place. I personally would not want someone like her representing my store. Long story short.... We will not be back. read more

I went to this Boot Barn location for the first time. Waow that's all I have to say. I was greeted by Tayler, this beautiful goddess who knows how to give advice for clothing. I was blown away. I thought it would be like a normal shopping experience of being told where I can find something, while the sales associate leaves to another customer. That was not this place. Tayler stayed with me every step of the way, helped me choose clothing I liked and gave a female opinion. She was detailed in discussing the theme / vibe certain clothing gave off (fun, playful, subtle, animated, serious). I was able to get clothing for different occasions. She was very insightful. Once she saw what I liked, she knew how to recommend more of what I liked. Plus, she would throw in her two cents of what she liked and sometimes it was what I liked. Because she was so friendly, I felt like I was shopping with a trusted friend, we were in a whole other zone where she understood my mission, and her goal was to get me to the finish line. She did not pressure me to buy, she helped me find what I liked. I originally was not going to buy anything, and I told her that. Another quality Tayler possessed was she can visualize combinations of colors / clothing easily and before seeing it myself. I thought I was skilled at knowing what looked good before trying it on. But after trying on certain things she suggested and looking in the mirror, I felt in love with the suggestions. I doubted certain combinations before trying them on. Anyway, when you go shopping, ask for Tayler, you won't regret it. I had gone in looking for wedding boots and asked about a particular pair online. The first young woman I talked to was actually very nice and knew the boots I was speaking of. My negative review is not aimed at her in particular. I do feel for the staff in that they have the slowest computers and it took them forever to load anything that I needed to look at to confirm the style. Hopefully that can be addressed in the near future. The staff member had the pair of boots shipped from another store in Colorado in order for me to get a chance to try them on and possibly purchase them. I was pleased that they offer this service. I got a call a few days ago that my boots came in and was excited to drive to the store to try them on. First, no one knew what I was talking about when I arrived. They spent about 20 minutes looking and searching for the boots. Then I was approached and told that another person bought them who had also sent off for a different pair of boots. Did you catch that, a DIFFERENT pair of boots. So now I've wasted my time and gas to come here and have nothing to show for it. I understand that mistakes happen, but organization and clear communication would have eliminated this from happening. The worst part is that no apology was offered. I did not raise my voice or make a face. I simply said, "That's a bummer". And still all I got was an excuse about it being rare that two people ship off for boots. Still no apology. Business/customer service 101....own up to your mistakes and people respect you more for it. They grudgingly offered to order it again, but I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

After posting a review on 2/7/14 regarding a less than pleasurable experience at the Boot Barn in Kearny Mesa, I was contact by Boot Barn regional manager, Paula Goodner. She expressed her dismay about my experience and was truly concerned about customer service at this location. She requested that I go back to the Kearny Mesa store and try again or try one of their other locations. On 2/27/14 I returned to store, shopped for the boots I originally had intended to purchase and had a completely different experience. The sales person, Ashley, did a wonderful job answering my questions helping find the right size and style of boot. It's rare now days to find retail stores that take the time to read reviews and actually contact dissatisfied customers. Thank you Paula and Ashley for taking my business seriously. read more

Walked in, found perfect pair of boots after looking for the right boots for weeks. Tried them on, they fit like a glove. Christine helped me, she is professional with a capital "P". Sadly, was told to water proof the boots with mink oil which turned them 5 shades darker, they weren't the same color boots anymore. I returned them the next day and Christine allowed me to exchange them for a new pair. I won't put mink oil on these. ** A word of caution: Do not waterproof your boots with mink oil unless you don't mind them getting several shades darker. I will definitely shop here again. Western apparel is so fun!! I wasn't 100% impressed with the boot set up though...wrong sizes in wrong spots, better organization like price and color within size would be nice too. The lady was super offended when I told her I didn't want a discount card, I have way too much junk e-mail and discounts coming to me from every other place I shop normally.
