The burgers here are phenomenal. The ground beef mix is fantastic and the fries that come with them are good too! The only thing I would complain about is the occasional wait times and how variable they can be. Sometimes seemingly there's no one there and the wait will be through the roof and other times they'll be packed to the nines and waits will be short. The only critique of the food I have here is that sometimes the fries can come out a little dark but seemingly not crispy yet. Its as if the oil was not hot enough to get a good crisp on the fries but enough to saturate the potatoes in oil. Highly recommend coming here cause I do regularly to sate any burger cravings I have in Lynchburg! read more

Came in tonight with our family. The hostess was a bit rude and acted like she didn't want to be there,. She seated us and informed us that they were under staffed and our server would be over shortly but the wait will be longer than usual. Okay...not a good start. Next up, our server came about 10 minutes later, her name was Beth and a breathe of fresh air. She was polite, friendly and kept the food and drinks coming. She filled our water glasses several times and was apologetic when certain items on the beer menu were not available. We all loved the appetizers and burgers. The desserts were very good, along with our milkshakes to go. Thanks to Beth we had a great dinner. Hopefully Bootleggers will be able to find more employees like her! read more

Four of us had spent the morning walking around the downtown area of Lynchburg checking out various shops and farmers market. We had gotten pretty hot and a little hungry so we stopped in to Bootleggers. The AC was working great and it felt good in there. We were seating immediately(it was about 1 pm on a Saturday) The waiter was a little slow but he seemed to be the only one working at the bar and the tables near the bar. We got drinks though and had a nice relaxing time. We ordered pretzel bites with beer cheese as something to munch on as we were not going to eat lunch there. They came quickly and were hot. They were pretty darn good!! I plan to go back here for a meal in the future to see how the food is. The beer selection was pretty good as was the bourbon/whiskey. I have always been a Bootlegger's fan because their food is phenomenal, but I have to say the service is terrible. I have been three times within the last month and every single time, it took a good 10 minutes before we even got our initial drink order and then throughout the whole meal, we only saw our waitress two times. I keep going back hoping for a new experience but it just seems like this business is either under-staffed or their team isn't being supported like they should be. Very disappointing because I think it could be a better experience if service improved. read more

For those who don't do gluten, they offer gluten free ciders and have a full bar, not just beer. The view is the best part so sit outside and the truffle fries are out of this world. read more

Excellent food and service, but this is the literal only place I've been in my baby's first year of life that does not have a changing table. The short, small tables in the women's restroom are not a safe place to change a baby, as there is no way to strap them in and cleaning chemicals / misc stuff within arm's reach. Unfortunately we won't be able to come back unless they decide to add one. Heck, most men's restrooms have them these days too! If you don't have little ones in diapers then this place is a great place to go for dinner. Expect a bit of a wait, but it's worth it for some tasty burgers and fries. Went there for a friends birthday party. He couldn't reserve any tables so it took forever for all 22 of us to get in but when we did the service was excellent and the food was great. I didn't hear a single person complaining. The beer cheese sauce and mustard they serve with their pretzel bites were delicious. The cheese was a perfect amount of saucy but still real cheese. I tried a friends truffle fries and they seemed to be lacking. I don't think there was enough ingredients on them, they agreed. A very cool aesthetic and a beautiful view. We were all impressed by our burgers. Great flavors. Everything else was good but not great. The loaded tater tots were good but the buffalo chicken dip tasted more like chicken salad than a dip and the flavor was underwhelming. We've been here twice now and both experiences were sub-par. The food was okay, not the best not the worst, but the service was long. We asked for a booth because I am 8 months pregnant and we have a toddler but the manager told us no stating they had to save the booths for parties of 6. (We we're a party of 3 adults and one child). Next thing we know, the booth we wanted is filled with 3 adults and one child. We tried to mention it to the manager but she didn't do anything to help. Every time we go to Bootleggers, it's an excellent experience. The food is always on point, delicious, fast, and well made. The drinks are tasty, priced fair, and come out pretty quick. But the service is what really keeps us coming back. Today we had the pleasure of having Meredith being our server. She is super personable, patient, efficient, and friendly. Bootleggers is one of our favs since moving here and we love Bootleggers already, but people like Meredith makes you want to keep coming in even more. The floor manager running things and greeted us when we first came in, was kicking butt with a smile and charm as usual, she is always working when we come in and despite a busy floor, she always has a positive demeanour and welcoming personality, which is rare. What an amazing find! Our second visit, Saturday afternoon out on the Harley stopped for supper. The moment we walked in the manager Patrick seated us and we got rolling with our Server, Hunter, who was amazing! Patrick, was attentive to happenings all around the bar and seating area, he himself didn't let a glass get empty or table stay dirty. While on vacation in Lynchburg, my wife and I went to Bootleggers for dinner. We both had a burger (I had the butchers special and she had a build your own). Both burgers were good, though I needed extra napkins because the juice from the burger was running down my hands. There are no sides with the burger so you order them a la carte. We got tater tots and onion rings. My wife really liked the onion rings but we will warn you they are served with a house-made Siracha ranch that is really spicy. Overall, a good meal. I would recommend not sitting at one of the two person booths like we did, it just felt cramped and you are between the front door and the kitchen so it was not a great place to sit. read more

This place is DYNAMITE! The burgers and fries were amazing. We especially loved the truffle oil fries! There are tons of alcohol options, including bourbon and beer flights. The views are amazing, especially in the outdoor seating overlooking the James River. The only thing we wish, as with many downtown restaurants in cities, is that parking were better. However, many lots and spots are free after 5 PM! So be on the lookout for that. We had a great experience here and would fully recommend this restaurant for a great meal! read more

This place was great. Great food, great service, great drinks, great prices and best of all, great company. We sat indoors because it was 92 degrees outside. James, our server, was also great. He gave excellent suggestions for the appetizer and drinks. We went with the loaded fries and bourbon punch. The burgers were very tasty. One person for a turkey burger and thought it was a bit over cooked, but other than that everyone was pleased. The guys turned to jack and coke which had the perfect mix. Why does it take almost half an hour to make two burgers, milkshakes, and a salad? I'd understand if they were short staffed, but there were literally over ten waitstaff hanging around and talking. I'm not sure what the kitchen workers were like, but the least the waitstaff could do is make sure my food was what I ordered. After I finally got my food, I realized they forgot my milkshakes, and I had to wait even longer for that. Yes the burgers were good, but what burger wouldn't be good if you waited half an hour for it? The food is delicious! We had the pretzel bites, onion rings ; the seasoning on the rings is so good and different than any I've had. We also had the grilled chicken avocado sandwich (it's huge and so good, could easily split this), my husband ordered turkey burger that had grilled onion, mushrooms, and the most delicious bourbon sauce so good!
