I really enjoyed my first visit. My brother wanted to get something from Dave&Buster's but since I had no interest I stayed at the ice-cream shop as he walked over to D&B. The case on the right holds their gelato (and I think sorbet as well) while the case on the left held the stretchy Turkish ice-cream. Everything I tried was delicious and but not extremely strong so you had to wait a bit for the flavor to hit. However, I liked this since I don't like extremely sweet desserts in the summer and it didn't leave me dehydrated. I loved that the ice cream were smooth and had an interesting stretchy characteristic. Think of the the stretchiness of bubble gum but weaker and with the ice cream texture. The price point is similar to Aqua S for the basic ice cream. Staff: 5 The owner was extremely nice and said that I could try anything I wanted. So many places are closing early these days so we decided to try a new place and this place was it! We went on a Wednesday night about an hour before they closed. No indoor seating (chairs were stacked) but you could dine outside if you wanted. There were two employees that I could see, a female who was the cashier and the male who helped with our orders. I love interesting flavors and this was up my alley. They have various sorbets, gelato, and "chewy" ice cream. I checked and they don't use gelatin (like some gelato recipes use). My issue was choosing only 3 flavors. No samples during the pandemic so I just randomly chose and I ended up with almond gelato, chocolate, and rose water. Chocolate isn't my usual but my daughter loves chocolate so that was for her. Chocolate was pretty good! It had some little chewy bits (reminiscent of marshmallow fluff) in it which I enjoyed. Rose water was nice - subtle but present. Chocolate overpowered this but I enjoyed it. I'd separate stronger flavors next time so I could get the full effect. Almond was my favorite. I LOVED IT that if I could only choose 1 flavor, this would be it. I had a few bites that contained the chewy bits. Overall, not too sweet either which is a huge plus in my book. I'd love to return again to further explore the menu and other flavors. They have a small (2 flavors max) for $4 or add $2 more for 3 flavors. The staff seem pretty nice though not all that chatty (to be honest, the face masks don't make me inclined to chat either because my voice doesn't carry well even without something covering my mouth). My family and I could give this business 4 stars on their customers service alone. The staff were very nice and professional. The owner who said his middle name was "trouble" was very pleasant and playful with everyone. We didn't really get to see the stretchyness of the ice cream, but it was more creamy than most ice cream we've had. Apparently booza is gelato in arabic. i tried rose water and cookies and creme and omg, both flavors were so so delicious! the texture of the gelato was so stretchy and creamy, and flavors tasted right good, not too sweet. they have many more flavors and their cafe is super cute too. i would recommend anyone who is craving some good stretchy flavored gelato! i will come back for more flavors. i got a small cup, $4, two scoops and it's so enough for a quick snack! they also have plenty of parking in the front. read more

I heard about Booza on Fox 26, and the owner mentioned that they use mastic gum in their recipe. Mastic gum was the ONLY thing to completely rid my gut of H. Pylori even after several rounds of antibiotics. I suffered from H. Pylori for months with no relief, and within 24 hours of taking mastic gum the symptoms were gone! This place is official! Palestinian ice cream finally made it to Htown ...peeps go visit this joint if you like that Mediterranean food then you need to try the Mediterranean Boozooka bomb ice cream. Alright here come the flavors you should try in the order I tried them, that is after sampling all the flavors. Pistachio, Turkish coffee, ishta, and of course raspberry sherbert. They have some outdoor seating available and you can order your scoops in cones and bowls. I also noticed the mini pecan pies but I wasn't feeling it. It is distinctly more "stretchy" than regular ice cream, but overall the experience eating it was more similar than I anticipated. I got a scoop of coconut and a scoop of the traditional Ishta flavor, which is the original Booza flavor of simply sugar, milk, salep, mastic. The Ishta was definitely more stretchy than the coconut, and I enjoyed the texture. The coconut Booza tasted and felt very similar to a coconut gelato. The shop was clean and tidy, with a small window showing off the Booza-making equipment in the back room. Made in-house! From our short conversation I learned the gentlemen running the store were of Palestinian descent, with generations of experience making and selling Booza. I really like ice cream but am not picky about it, perfectly content with HEB 1905 vanilla but generally go for unique varieties. I've been entranced by YouTube videos of stretchy ice cream so when I heard Houston finally had some (and opened up by the great-grandson of the founder of Rukab in Palestine (supposedly the first, original stretchy ice cream spot!), I had to make my way here! If you haven't had Palestinian/Arabic ice cream (booza) before, it's an ice cream thickened with salep and mastic, instead of eggs. Salep is made from ground orchid roots and mastic is a tree resin (often used in chewing gum). These two ingredients combine to make the ice cream stretchy. The ice cream stretches out almost like taffy! Booza's got both the stretchy booza ice cream (in the case on the left), and gelato (in the case on the right). I didn't try any of the gelato, but I definitely suggest trying flavors. I found the ones I tried to vary greatly - some flavors were super strong (hazelnut, Turkish coffee, rosewater), but some barely tasted like anything (the pistachio in particular was really disappointing). The people working were happy to dole out as many samples as we requested. I ended up getting hazelnut, Turkish coffee, and the sweet cream. Hazelnut was definitely the best - it tasted just like a really good Italian gelato. The Turkish coffee was really intense, but it also had a very strong spiced flavor which got a bit too much for me after a while. The sweet cream tasted really good in the small sample I got, but it didn't taste quite as good in my cup - I couldn't really taste much cream, and after a while, it had almost an earthy root flavor? It was pretty strange. As for the stretchiness, I didn't know what to expect texture wise, but it ultimately just seemed to be like extra smooth ice cream. My dad thought it was "stretchy/gummy" on the palate, but I thought it just seemed creamier. Overall, I think the consistency across the board on the flavors could be improved. The stretchy aspect is a fun novelty, but I don't know if I'd go out of my way to get it over regular ice cream. The hazelnut alone is good enough to make me go back though! read more

I'm not sure what it was, if it was the flavors I picked or consistency, but I grew tired of the ice cream and only ate half. Similarly, I was with a few friends, and two of them grew tired of their ice cream as well even though they had different flavors than me. The stretchy gimmick, to me, wasn't worth the trip here. There are two kinds of ice cream here, booza, which is a Palestinian ice cream known for its stretchy texture, and gelato. Both are of extremely high quality here for a reasonable price. Booza personally isn't my favorite kind of ice cream (I prefer the creamy texture that normal ice cream provides), but I can tell this is probably the best you're going to get in Houston of its kind. The gelato is also very tasty, and I can't think of many places you can get better ice cream for the price. They do rotate their flavors though, so while I would recommend their lemon flavor, I'm sure it won't be there by the time you go. Overall, a solid place to get ice cream.
