Not sure if it was because I haven't had sushi in 9+ months but this hit the spot. Everything seemed very fresh! Again, the sushi pizza is my favorite thing here. I have yet to find somewhere that makes it better. I had the Manhattan roll so I got a bunch of fish since it's made with tuna, yellowtail and salmon. Didn't need any soy sauce or wasabi. I ordered a green salad. For $5 it's better than I've had elsewhere. It's pretty sizable and they include spinach not just iceberg. The tricky part of ordering from here is that parking is challenging. Potentially the best sushi I've had in NJ. This place is top notch and I have only had takeout from here. I got a spicy tuna crunch roll, manhattan roll and honey wasabi roll. I also tried a piece of my husband's yellowtail and scallion. All of these rolls were delicious and the fish was incredibly fresh! My favorite was the spicy tuna crunch roll which I know seems basic because it is essentially a spicy tuna, but Bop does it in a way have never seen. They don't put the mayo mixture in the minced up tuna in the roll so the tuna in the roll is straight up fresh tuna. They out the spicy mayo mixture on top of the roll. This small trick makes the roll not only more satisfying but so incredibly more delicious and fresh. I have always told my husband I would legit get just their spicy tuna rolls until the end of time because of how mind blown I was by this! I will regularly be frequenting this sushi place for both takeout and sit down because it's that good. We've only been in the neighborhood for 11 months but this place will now forever be our go to sushi spot. read more

Spicy scallop roll is just terrible- I am sure that for two rolls (8 pieces) less than one scallop was used. Ordered delivery through their new online system, which was probably the smoothest online system I've experienced through an outside vendor and did not incur extra fees. I gave this food experience three stars because on average my uni eel rice was delicious, but I ordered it on multigrain rice that was clearly undercooked with many hard pieces. I wish they had called to just let me know that they weren't ready to have multigrain rice that night. We also got their bulgogi and seafood soondubu entree, and while the bulgogi was great the soondubu was NOT soondubu. It was some kind of mix of flavors between yuggaejang and like a neoguri seafood ramen. The dooboo was NOT soondubu tofu. The broth was incredibly spicy to the point of inedible. And they threw in veggies that normally don't belong in soondubu. I almost called to make sure they got our order right..... Other than that, the packaging as always was 100! Been coming here for the last 6 years at least once a month- consistently delicious food and attentive service. They give you a complementary spiced potato salad to start. Portions are filling and plating is always beautiful. I like that their rolls are not rice heavy and the inside fillings are generous. Our favorite dishes are the avocado salad and spicy miso soup, salmon carpaccio, White Russian roll with their delicious and healthy purple multigrain rice, spicy tuna roll, and Philadelphia roll. very disappointed! i ordered a special lobster roll, and i got a roll with filled with imitation crab** what they call surimi!!!!! Only micro pieces of lobster . The service was poor, the music awful and after taking the dish back to the so called chefs , they looked at me surprised and not a word from the management. Bop & Sushi is a Korean/Japanese restaurant in downtown Westwood. Their menu is extensive with numerous offerings of both Korean and Japanese dishes. The downside with a menu this big is, of course, that not every dish will be great. I've been here about half a dozen times now, and my experience has been a little hit or miss. Some meals were great, others only so-so. In general, I would say their Korean items are more consistently good vs their Japanese items. I've had ramen and sushi here that were pretty sub-par. The staff is friendly and service is quick. There's ample street parking around the restaurant. Also, they offer a 10% discount if you pay in cash. read more

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for some time now, so tonight I finally took the plunge and ordered some takeout! As soon as I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the hostess/waitress. As soon as I told her I wanted to place a take out order, she showed me a place to sit and gave me a menu. The hostess was very friendly and attentive to any questions I had about items on the menu. Although I didn't make any substitutions, she assured me I could add or take out anything I did or didn't like, which I really appreciate. I ordered the Bop N Sushi Roll and the Volcano Roll, both to go. While I waited (which wasn't long) I was offered a glass of water by another friendly staff member. The inside of the restaurant is small and although there were four other parties eating while I waited, it was fairly quite. The tables are spaced fair enough from each other, so you don't feel packed in, even for a small restaurant space. I brought my food home and the restaurant labeled which sushi roll was which. I think the quality of the food is good, but I do not think I would order what I purchased again. Both rolls were California roll style and were just topped with a type of fish and sauce. I was hoping for the fish to be more into the roll, but now I know for next time. On the on Bop N Sushi roll, it was topped with tempura salmon, but I wish they had put more salmon on top. I think it was too much tempura for my taste and I probably would have preferred just baked salmon. The Volcano Roll was topped with crab and spicy mayo, which I think was the best part of the meal. I definitely want to return to this restaurant because I really want to explore other items on the menu.
