First time here and loved everything about this experience. The inside is super cozy and the decor is just so welcoming. Modern with a flare of Mediterranean warmth. You have to dine in to see what I mean. Parking is a little tricky, but street parking is available and could be free depending on the time of day you arrive but be prepared to walk or circle a bit before being able to secure your spot. Also highly recommend a reservation for a weekend as it was packed. In addition to the regular menu, they also had specials which our fabulous waiter took us through. We got a bunch of appetizers for the table to split and each got our own entrée. For a group of 4 we ordered more than enough and everything was fabulous. For starters, we had a trio of dips with pita, the pear arugula salad, crab cakes and the crispy cauliflower. The hummus was so creamy. Baba ghanoush, not too heavy on garlic and tzatziki bright and creamy. We ended up asking for extras of the pita as it was also good. The salad was beautiful and refreshing and the cauliflower appetizer, wow I could eat this all day every day. Crab cakes also delicious. For dinner we had one of the specials - scallops over risotto. Also did the Bronzino, Mediterranean skewer and leg of duck. Again, everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned so well. The hanger steak in the skewers with the chimichurri was so tender. The duck was falling off the bone tender. For dessert, we had the equivalent of a lava cake which we shared amongst the 4 of us. Overpriced, unorganized and poorly managed. The food was ok, not worth the visit. I ordered a lemonade and never got it, they might have charged me for it because for 2 sub par dishes, we paid a whole lot. Don't go there hungry because you have to wait a very long time, even if the place is empty. They don't give you complimentary nothing, not even bread or pita. I can only imagine how much they're trying to save inside the kitchen. The place screams cheap! Some of the lighting doesn't work, our candles were never lit even though it was nighttime so our area was too dark. The waitress will switch on you without you knowing and they will not get your order right. The place setup is super sketchy, I think the chef brings the finished plate to a little closet near the bathroom and I looked inside the closet, it was filthy. The process is questionable and risky in terms of hygiene. They took forever to make the soufflé, even though we asked ahead and wanted it to come out after dinner. The soufflé was too pricey and it was not made well. On top of that, the ac stopped working during the scorching heatwave and they didn't offer anything to compensate and instead provided a terrible experience. I don't see this place lasting very long. We use to love Mezza but over time their food has gone down hill. They use to have to have the BEST french fries, now, they look and smell like week old oil. Their pita sandwhich use to be so fresh, now it is a soggy mess. This will be last chance for them, I'm so done. read more

From the moment we walked in it was warm and inviting. It was also very nice because six of us had a round table which meant we could all see each other and not be bumping elbows. Overall, our our server was terrific. She was extremely knowledgeable about every item on the menu, which was terrific. However. Although she informed us that the food would take a little bit because it's made fresh. We didn't realize we'd be waiting 30 minutes for food. If we had known, we would've at least ordered an appetizer. And that's why I'm only giving it four stars. The quality of the food was outstanding. Got their matbuha, hummus, and babaganoush with pita, and the chicken shish kebab which was the perfect amount of food for two. Their pita was incredibly chewy and delicious. We got every last bit of all the dips with the pita. I also loved the wild rice which was such a flavor bomb. I would order a whole bowl of that by itself if I could. Mezza is located in Westwood in a relatively busy area. Street parking is available all around with meters (parkmobile). Mezza is a bit overpriced, but the atmosphere was pretty, nicely decorated, food quality good, service ok and it's BYOB. The decor is cozy and attractive with tables spaciously laid out. The octopus appetizer is excellent! Tender, crisp, nice size and served with a bit of salad. The hummus was ok, though heavy on the tahini. Tasty, but not for everyone. Haloumi and cauliflower apps were also good. Everyone liked them. The short rib cigars weren't special. I've had better, both tastier ones and bigger portions. All entrees at the table were enjoyed - skirt steaks, lamb shanks, although one lamb shank was much bigger than another at the table. Not very consistent, but fortunately the hungrier person got the bigger one. Still, this was disappointing for the eater of the smaller shank. Desserts were good. The ricotta balls were particularly tasty. Overall, it's a nice place, attractive inside, good food quality, BYOB. Some items are overpriced and for that reason, there are other Mediterranean restaurants I'd prefer to visit. read more

Prices have risen substantially and service has slipped a notch since we were last here a couple of years ago. Appetizers (crispy cauliflower and Moroccan cigars) arrived promptly and were very good. Entrees (chicken tajine, skirt steak, lamb shank, duck confit, bronzino, and salmon) were all very tasty, but they arrived 2 at a time, about 10 minutes apart. We had to call the server's attention to the fact that the last two entrees hadn't arrived before they did. Apologies were made and a dessert was offered as compensation, but still ... multiple orders should be "built" and served all at once. Service, other than that, was cordial. BYOB. At least they no longer automatically add a gratuity (20%) for larger parties -- one of my pet peeves. read more

It is nice to eat at a BYOB restaurant and just focus on the food. Well $150 later we blew though 6 appetizers, 3 dips, and a soufflé. We went for as much shared quantity as possible! My favorite dip was certainly the tzatziki. As far as the apps went, the eggplant and tomato were great, we loved the beef cigars, and the best was the haloumi. LOVE haloumi. The cauliflower was more subtle and we should have eaten that first. It got lost in the taste shuffle. We were able to eat outside with no reservation. I do not know if all the tables tend to fill up but if you have more than a couple people a reservation is likely the way to go. read more

Wasn't this during Covid so restaurants wouldn't go out of business?? They continue to nickel and dime their customers well after the pandemic. What a wonderful spot for dinner. My family of 12 came here last night for Mother's Day Dinner and the staff and the food were exceptional. Literally they went above and beyond in every aspect of the dinner service. We ordered multiple apps for the table, including, the mezza platter, with hummus and an extra side of homemade hot sauce. The hot sauce was fantastic, and I will order it again every time I go. For my entrée I ordered the grilled octopus app, as my entrée and it was a giant portion of octopus and it was grilled to perfection. It was not at all rubbery and it came with a refreshing salad on the side with lettuce, onions, tomatoes and grilled potatoes. Furthermore, the staff was super attentive and kept us well hydrated with their water jars and opened up bottles of wine and kept it on ice for us. Keep up the great work team. read more

Overpriced and not worth the amount or quality of food you get. Came here on a weekday night and it wasn't too busy. We were hungry so we ordered 3 appetizers and one entree per person. Our favorite things we ordered were the shrimp and crispy cauliflower. The lentil soup was decent but nothing special. The entrees we ordered were the lamb shank, shish kebab, and Long Island duck. The duck had an off taste to it and the shish kebab was literally only 5 pieces of meat. The prices were exorbitantly expensive. Glad we tried this place but will not dine again. Tries too hard to be "fancy." Also, the menus are in desperate need of replacing. They are made of paper, and most are seriously wrinkled and stained with food (ew). read more

Another delicious Mediterranean meal. Restaurant is clean and has a calming ambience- especially when the weather is not great...the beautiful lamps throw out warm light through colorful glass. Wow, what a surprise! We heard from friends that this is a good place. NO - it is awesome. It is BYOB so we expected it to be expensive but not more than other good restaurants in our area. We were four couples and ordered a lot of different items to explore and share. We were ALL pleased with the variety and taste of the unique kitchen. Service was good and attentive. They were there when they were needed and gone when not. By mistake, they got rid of one of the left-over dish that my friend wanted to home with him. So, when they realized that, they apologized, went to the kitchen and made a full new order of his dish to take with him. Keep pumping guys. read more

I've been to Mezza a number of times for dinner and each time the food is delicious, although a little bit pricey. The decor is very lovely with a Middle Eastern vibe. Generally the service is good, but last night it was a bit slow and we had to ask to have our water refilled and where our main courses were (it was taking a really long time). With that said, dinner was so good and fresh. We shared a green salad (it was just lettuce, but also had peas and other veggies with a tasty vinaigrette), and also the cauliflower appetizer, which had pine nuts and some sort of mild green pesto- amazing! I ordered the chicken tagine which came with couscous and veggies, and the eggplant dish was one of the best I ever tried. For dessert we ordered the chocolate soufflé special that also came with homemade ice cream and berries - beautiful presentation and absolutely delicious - it was worth the calories! read more
