    Chicken Teriyaki and Hotpot Bibimbap
    Rachel L.

I am Korean American. While I was traveling here, I missed Korean food. This is really awesome ones that you should come and taste. The foods are very delicious and very reasonable price. This is a hidden gem!!!

    Shrimp and noodle

Ordered carryout everything was delicious and packaged really well! All three of our dishes were wonderful. The BBQ pork came with an egg that was perfect with the rice. We also had the shrimp with noodles and the chicken teriyaki udon, both fantastic. We'll definitely be back! Only suggestion: it would be amazing if you added bubble tea to the menu, the kids in the neighborhood would love it!

Seafood Udon, Spicy Pork, Spicy Chicken

Me and my cousins came here to grab some lunch and we were floored. I got the Seafood Udon which was soooo good and perfect for this cold snowy day. We also had tried the Spicy Pork which was well cooked and seasoned to perfection. Also gave us free order of fried kimchi which was soooo good. I personally don't love kimchi but the fried kimchi was amazing!! I will definitely be back and would highly recommend to anyone looking for the best Korean food in the area!! Thank you so much for your welcoming service!

    Mandu

Ordered shrimp yaki soba, spicy pork and veggie mandu. All good! Deducting 1 star bc the "veggie mandu" was actually meat (and a little greasy)! Go try it! We will return!

    Sizzling hot!

For context, have had a really frustrating time finding a good Korean spot in Chicago. Have gone to highly rated places before and been just disgusted with my orders! So I came in skeptical since it is technically Asian-fusion. Happy to see the owners were Korean (good sign!). Bibimbop was so lovely. Service kind. Restaurant clean. I will be back :)

Japchae with tofu, bulgogi, tempura shrimp and mandu

The food here is amazing! Fresh and full of flavor. The owner is very friendly and the restaurant is very cozy, nicely decorated and super clean. I can't recommend this place enough.

Absolutely phenomenal. Highly recommend the hot stone bibimbap and the chicken karaage- large portions and fair pricing. Nice couple that owns the place, great service and just opened this month. Check it out!

The appetizers were a highlight, unique and bursting with flavor from a perfect spice blend. Not too spicy at all, just the right amount of kick to keep things exciting. The mains delivered that classic tangy, savory twist I love in Korean BBQ. The beef and pork came sliced super thin and tender, melting in your mouth. The grill was a touch oilier than I'm used to (probably to keep the meat from sticking), but it bother me slightly although most people would probably enjoy it. All in all, a real gem with great flavors and a relaxed atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try more items and bring friends or family along.

We've got been twice so far and both times we're very satisfied overall with all the food. The second time the un- marinated brisket seemed like it was cut a little too thin or the grill was a little too hot, so there was more sticking to the grill than expected but overall everything still tasted really good great kimchi, great potato salad, lots of veggies, lots of flavor. Soda wise they have Pepsi if that impacts your restaurant choice.

We had Sang Gai Bi and the Heuk Sam Gyup Sal which was the pork belly. We loved them both. I personally like the beef over the pork but I would get both again. We also ordered a Yook Ke Jang, which was a spicy seasoned soup with shredded beef. It was not too salty or anything. It was just right! Lastly we ordered a marinated pork (forgot the name of it) and it was good, but I think we all preferred the non marinated meat better. Not sure if it's because we were already getting full at that time. Definitely recommend coming to this place. Charcoal bbq tastes so much better, although it can be a little harder to cook imo. ALL the small dishes were amazing...there isn't a small dish I didn't like. This is my new favorite kbbq spot!! This place is also super clean. The women's restroom was clean when I went as well and had everything you need...including spray for your clothes after bbq is done, which is a plus!

But meat just tastes better bbq'd on charcoal, y'na mean? It honestly had been a decade and a half since I went to a proper charcoal KBBQ, so this was super exciting for me. The place had an old facade that was reminiscent of the "old days" for me. Not to say it was run down or anything, but everything from the floorplan to the old tables with charcoal pit installed tables reminded me of the KBBQ era of the 90's and beyond. Loved it! My family went inside way past lunch hour, so the place had cleared out and owners seemed to have been having lunch. The two gentlemen eho greeted us gave out father and son energy, but I couldn't be sure. There was a life sized photo of the oldtimer in a marathon getup hanging on one side of the shop entrance, which he explained was taken a decade ago. I could tell he would have been around my father's age, but seemed super healthy. A pleasant man for sure! It may not necesaarily be a good thing for owners, but I love it when there aren't too many patrons around, because it means that I'll get all the attention I need from them, when I need. It was certainly the case here. They were super attentive when we needed something. To be fair, we knew exactly what we wanted, so it wasn't like we needed to call them every 5 minutes, but it certainly was easy to get their attention when I needed another bottle of beer. :-D My family of three order two servings of marinated galbi, contemplating on whether or not to order my wife's favorite pork belly. In the end, we were too full and were glad we stopped with only two servings. We'll just have to come back to try other meat later. This is ALWAYS a dilemma for my family. All three of us each have our favorites, but none of us can eat a whole serving. We usually end up going with my daughter's favorite every time, unless my wife and I are out by ourselves, which these days is not as often as I'd like. We'll just have to wait a couple more years for her to graduate.. Galbi (short ribs) was GREAT! Not much else to say about it, other than the fact that any meat will taste better when grilled on charcoal. With so many other KBBQs around town with more "hip" and "modern" atmosphere, I don't know how well New Seoul is doing these days, but I certainly hope they do enough business to continue to be around. More and more Korean restaurants are moving away from their traditional way of doing things in order to cater to American audiences. They may not be huge changes, but these subtle changes make people like me and my wife a bit sad because it eats away a little bit of our nostalgia each time we experience some. I hate to sound like an old man about it, but I guess it falls to people like myself to continue to support more of the traditional places like these over the young ones. Anyway, based on just the marinated galbi my family had, I must give them 5 stars!

I recently stopped by with my boyfriend while passing through the area, and Korean soup hits differently when it's freaking cold outside. I ordered the "mix" soup (seollungtang with meat and tendon), and it came out boiling just the way it should be. The bowl includes thin flour noodles, tender meat and tendon, and is topped with green onions. It also comes out with kkakdugi (diced radish kimchi), regular kimchi, a dipping sauce for the meat, and salt to season the soup to your liking. All of that plus a Diet Coke came out to $33.99 for both of us. In this economy? That's a solid deal. The lady and the man working behind the counter are always sweet, which is a plus. The food was comforting and much needed. I'm so thankful this place still exists and is standing strong even after Assi is gone. It doesn't seem to have dumb'ed down just to appease the locals (ha ha). I've been here twice and the little side dishes appear to rotate slightly so they weren't the same both times (I confess I ordered the goat soup both times). I see a lot of past reviews mention the oxtail. I wish I could get some of that. There is bulgogi and rice on the menu too. The spicy pork bulgogi was plentiful, but it wasn't as spicy as the soup. I promise I'll try a different soup next time. Maybe.

Quite fantastic, loaded with super fresh leaves that cook down into the wok in 10 minutes and if you are in the know, put off the rice until the very end when, if you eat nearly almost all of it, leaving a scrimp of meat and leaf and a few tablespoons of broth, ask for the kimchi rice, which the staff will prepare at your table with the namesake and an egg.
