Honest thing is the name of this place in Niles but it's still actually great. It has dumplings and looks kind of sketchy. What A Dumpling is located in the Super H Mart in the food court so you go to the counter and then find a table. Of course it gets crowded. The food is kind of expensive but you get a lot and it's also fresh. Coming here the first time we had no idea it was actually inside this but we still found it after looking awhile. It's in a location of this popular international grocery store. The food court is pretty close to the entrance so it wasn't that hard to get to. A hard thing was finding a table because it was busy. You order at the counter and then take it to a table. Also the inside of the place smells fishy. That's how all of these are it seems. It's about $17 for the Vegan Dumplings. These are filled with chives, napa cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, tofu, and zucchini. Get these fried or steamed. There's other options with meats in these. Got to say it was pretty great for being in a food court. It's located in the store in Civic Center Plaza. They're even open for the weekends. read more

Just an ok experience. I thought we were going to a restaurant until I pulled up into the parking lot. Food station is located in he H-Mart shopping center. Food was hot but bland. We stumbled across What A Dumpling on accident inside the Civic Center. This ia mega Korean store! It's absolutely awesome. Along the perimeter, there are shops and many restaurants. The very nice lady greeted us, took our order, and gave us our food in about 5min. We got the traditional pork dumplings and a order of the beef. The pork was a little better, but both were very tasty!!! They tasted fresh, weren't greasy, and popped with flavor The prices were reasonable. About 30 bucks for 2 orders and soda. I'll be honest, 3/5 is a valid rating for most people. This place isn't cheap, and the portions are small. BUT I personally think the dumplings are worth it. I don't order dumplings from restaurants because they're generally reheated packaged ones from the grocery store with an upcharge. The ones from What A Dumpling are truly homemade though: the skin is thin yet chewy and the filling isn't salty or artificial-tasting. Please please please Don't tell anyone that there is a food court inside Super H mart! Food court is good overall if you know what you are looking for. I'm a "white" American, born and raised in the Chicago area and one thing I learned a long time ago is in ethnic restaurants if that ethnicity is well represented in the customers then the food must be good. That definitely applies here. You can get a variety of different types of food and sit and enjoy the ambience, okay, yes you are sitting in a grocery store but that's the point! I've been going to HMart for a couple of years now and this is the first time I've tried eating there with my Aunt. So we went to the very last part of the food court and its DUMPLINGS. I love love love all linds of dumplings. We ate the DUMPLING NOODLE SOUP and the DUMPLING RAMEN. My aunt liked the dumpling noodle. It has 6 or so pcs of dumpling in it. She said it was quite tasty. I had the Mild Dumpling Ramen. It was suppose to come with3 dumplings but the owner gave me 4 pcs. (Thank you!!!) The soup and the ramen. Sorry to say was like the instant ramen that we usually buy, meaning taste wise its not that special. However, we liked the dumplings a lot and so we bought some frozen once to cook at home. We bought the Kimchi Dumplings. It was different. Good different. Beef Dumpling which i like very much. You just need a good sauce. Korean Dumpling which is a mix of pork and veggies. My favorite is the dumpling soup. The soup itself is my favorite, as its deep flavor in combination with the soft, flavorful dumplings makes for a truly savory meal. Simply put these dumplings are the best in Chicago area. The owner sits in the back and hand-rolls each and every dumpling! And they taste great. I eat their dumpling soup at the food court at the Super H Mart and I bring home frozen ones. For appetizers I drop the frozen dumplings in boiling water and boil them 8-9 mitues or until they rise up to float. The owner suggests you could put a bit of vegetable oil and vinegar in the boiling water. read more

Despite the fact that this is just a fast food korean spot in the foodcourt at Hmart, this is some of the best Mandu Guk I've ever had! They always make this dumpling soup soooo good and so tasty! Not that any Mandu Guk is ever mindblowing but this is really authentic if you want good korean dumpling soup to warm you up! I CRAVE this specific place for this specific dish.
