this is actually the best yukgaejang i've had in illinois. i unfortunately moved here from california and this was a solid dish. the workers didn't know much english, and only korean customers were inside, both positive signs of great food. i was not disappointed and would definitely be back.

What a nice, family owned place with a cozy dining room, good service, and really good food. Our group ordered a variety of entrees and pajun seafood pancake as an appetizer. The ban chan small plates are varied and tasty. They also offer refills for your favorites. My dolsot/hot bowl bi bim bap was spot on and other enjoyed their mackerel and dan jang stew. The food comes out pretty quickly and the water refills are timely.

Manna is Korean comfort food at its best. It is comfortable and homey inside, and service was very friendly. I was surprised the kalguksu had homemade noodles in it and portions were generous with consistent side dish refills. We're going to add this restaurant to our list of regular rotations!

Manna is comfort food at its peak. My bf and I found this restaurant when we were exploring the burbs and it left us happy all day long. Service: - Service was super quick and all the aunties were so sweet. They were really attentive throughout the entire time that we were there. - We really really loved the side dishes and we were so nervous to ask for more but they gave us extra because they saw how much we liked it. And as starving college students, that means the whole world. Food: - We got their Gamjatang (Spicy Pork Bone Soup) for both of us and honestly, the serving was more than enough. We didn't expect to both feel full but there was so much meat in combination with the veggies and rice and we were both beyond satisfied. - Broth was really rich and there was such a deep flavor with every bite. We drank the entire thing until there was nothing left. - Side dishes were not just sides in this meal. I loved that there was such a large variety of options that were offered. Our favorites were the pickled seaweeds (I swear its the best that I have ever had) and the Kimchi radish. Ambiance: - This spot is tucked away in the suburbs and it feels just like that. The interior is designed as if you were in your grandmother's home. While we were there, we saw a group of dads, uncles, and grandpas just gathering to have a meal. And it was just so heartwarming to see and this spot is the perfect spot for family and friends gathering. I wish I lived closer because I would definitely be a regular.

This is the first time that i had this special Gimbab in America! Squid in the middle is very yummy. Sweet, sour, spicy all at once! So happy!!

I could decide what to get so we had to try them all!

This cute little spot is hiding behind a gigantic Chinese restaurant. My friend mentioned this spot to me and we decided to give it a try over the weekend. The menu had plenty of options including multiple ways to cook Saba (mackerel). They had multiple soups and stews along with the usual bulgogi. I wanted to try everything but I ended up settling for the octopus, grilled mackerel, bulgogi, tofu stew and steamed dumpling. Everything was delicious! The service was good and they constantly stopped by to check on us. I was even more pleased to find out that even though we ordered all of that, the check ended up being only $92 for 3 people including tip! Such a deal for some legit Korean food.

Omg what a gem! Their food was like phenomenal home cooked meals. Small place with whole hearted freshly prepped meals. Im definitely going back very very soon to try other items on the menu!

This place is legit! For starters, my partner and I received a tasty variety of banchan, my favorite was the fish cake. We were also given some hot barley tea to drink. We don't live near the area but the bibimbap and mandu were so delicious that it's so worth the 40min drive here. Also, the staff were so kind and attentive I felt like I was part of the family. Don't skip this place! It's so amazing y'all!!

I feel like I got ripped off , I paid 16 dollars for this? You got to be kidding me This is the last time i will ever waste my money here, I know I could have made it a lot tastier and it would have costed less There was only two pieces of legs and it had an odor which was not pleasant Needless to say I threw it away

Good was really good! Octopus was pretty spicy but good. Three dishes cost around 70, a bit pricy

As others have described, this is a homey Korean restaurant that's not too big with slightly outdated decor and somewhat compact seating. It's somewhat difficult to find behind Empire Szechwan, with little in terms of signage and parking that almost doesn't seem to belong to the restaurant. Service is alright, I wish the table had been checked on a little more often, but it wasn't too bad. The food is a mixed experience for me. The prices are low and the variety is good, but I didn't think it was anything special compared to the wide variety of Korean restaurants available nearby. The cooking is definitely on the healthier side, but reminds me more of elevated home cooking more than restaurant style food. I didn't get the same level of sophistication or flavor as I can get from other local options. The soondubu was spicy with plenty of tofu, but doesn't have the same depth of flavor as SGD. The bibimbop was very light, but I prefer versions from Hakuya or Golden Durebak more. The gal bi tang lacked tenderness in the short rib, though the broth was quite flavorful from the onions and radish. The seol lung tang was very bland, there was a light creaminess from the ox bones but otherwise all the other elements hardly made an impact on the flavor. The banchan overall was fairly good -- with the fruit salad and fish cakes being the standout items for me. Overall, an alright choice if you're looking for low prices and large portions and are specifically seeking soups, noodles, and porridge. Good if you're trying to eat healthier but not my first choice personally.

Our group shared the following: popcorn chicken, stir-fried chicken gizzards, fried eggs with Spam, corn cheese, truffle French fries, seafood pancake, bossam (pork belly, shrimp paste, lettuce wrap), rose tteokbokki, steamed egg souffle with cheese, spam and kimchi fried rice, station noodles (beef broth, veggies), and strawberry bingsoo. My favorite of the night was the rose tteokbokki. The tteokbokki was perfectly chewy and I enjoyed the flavor of the sauce. The popcorn chicken was also good and paired well with the sauce it came with. The bossam was on the dry side and the seafood pancake was pretty standard. The fries were good but wouldn't pay $10 for a basket of fries if we came back next time. The corn cheese was also good but the plate was small. There was a call button at each table which was convenient. Food came out individually as it was ready instead of all at once which was to be expected for our party size.

Like another reviewer mentioned, this was cooked and prepared (Mongolian style) in the kitchen. It came out on a sizzling skillet. It tasted delicious. The meat was really tender and juicy, but there were a couple of pieces with bone-in which I didn't really care for. I thought the side-dishes were really good. I completely finished the kimchi and pickled cucumbers. So good. I almost forgot about the miso soup. It was pretty standard (which is good) and hit the spot on a wintery day. Unexpectedly, for dessert, the server brought out a Haagan Daas ice-cream bar lol. I wasn't sure if this was normal or if it was just because I'm handsome? (found out later they do this for everyone... lol). I didn't really have room b/c I was full from the main dish and sides but ate it anyways (why not?). Overall I had a delicious meal. I can't remember the pricing off the top of my head, but I would say that it's reasonably priced. Oh, they also serve alcohol here too so if your looking for a spot for a group of people, that is an option. I personally had a large Cass to wash down my meal. Daebak!

But meat just tastes better bbq'd on charcoal, y'na mean? It honestly had been a decade and a half since I went to a proper charcoal KBBQ, so this was super exciting for me. The place had an old facade that was reminiscent of the "old days" for me. Not to say it was run down or anything, but everything from the floorplan to the old tables with charcoal pit installed tables reminded me of the KBBQ era of the 90's and beyond. Loved it! My family went inside way past lunch hour, so the place had cleared out and owners seemed to have been having lunch. The two gentlemen eho greeted us gave out father and son energy, but I couldn't be sure. There was a life sized photo of the oldtimer in a marathon getup hanging on one side of the shop entrance, which he explained was taken a decade ago. I could tell he would have been around my father's age, but seemed super healthy. A pleasant man for sure! It may not necesaarily be a good thing for owners, but I love it when there aren't too many patrons around, because it means that I'll get all the attention I need from them, when I need. It was certainly the case here. They were super attentive when we needed something. To be fair, we knew exactly what we wanted, so it wasn't like we needed to call them every 5 minutes, but it certainly was easy to get their attention when I needed another bottle of beer. :-D My family of three order two servings of marinated galbi, contemplating on whether or not to order my wife's favorite pork belly. In the end, we were too full and were glad we stopped with only two servings. We'll just have to come back to try other meat later. This is ALWAYS a dilemma for my family. All three of us each have our favorites, but none of us can eat a whole serving. We usually end up going with my daughter's favorite every time, unless my wife and I are out by ourselves, which these days is not as often as I'd like. We'll just have to wait a couple more years for her to graduate.. Galbi (short ribs) was GREAT! Not much else to say about it, other than the fact that any meat will taste better when grilled on charcoal. With so many other KBBQs around town with more "hip" and "modern" atmosphere, I don't know how well New Seoul is doing these days, but I certainly hope they do enough business to continue to be around. More and more Korean restaurants are moving away from their traditional way of doing things in order to cater to American audiences. They may not be huge changes, but these subtle changes make people like me and my wife a bit sad because it eats away a little bit of our nostalgia each time we experience some. I hate to sound like an old man about it, but I guess it falls to people like myself to continue to support more of the traditional places like these over the young ones. Anyway, based on just the marinated galbi my family had, I must give them 5 stars!
