Another fine offering from the folks behind Bowl'd. The menu is quite simple - bi bim bap, teriyaki, and chirashi bowls each customizable with different meat and vegetable options. The chirashi bowls are quite good - a healthy portion of fresh-tasting fish encircled with a variety of vegetables, some pickled, all on top of a mound of rice. At $12 this is the best deal in town for chirashi. BopShop also has chicken wings, mandoo, and a few maki options - everything I've tried has been fresh and at least very good. Bowl'd can be excellent, and the same can be said of its quicker counterpart. BopShop is meant to be more of a takeout restaurant than anything else, but there is a handful of too small tables inside and some seating outside. The counter help are well-trained and efficient. On both occasions I've been it wasn't particularly busy, so you should head over there to give them the business they deserve. read more

Tuna with mixed green base. My favorite part about a poke bowl is selecting my own toppings. They don't let you do that here which is a bummer and loss of a star for me. Just dropped. In to Bopshop for a quick meal while waiting for traffic to die down. This is a new restaurant and at the time of this review has been open for about a week. They have bimbimbop, teriyaki bowls, Korean wraps, kfc and other goodies. I had a bulgolgi bimbimbop and I do have to say it was pretty good. The marinate on the beef was on 0oint, and the serving was huge. My only critique would be that I would have preferred a fried egg instead of hard boiled, but not a deal breaker none the less. Decor is modern and looks great. The two guys on staff were very helpful and seemed to enjoy what they do. My hat off two them, can't wait to visit this place again. read more

I'm only giving 2 stars because I went in to order a bowl and they were out of tofu leaving me with no vegetarian options. I would like to see more things for vegetarians like the veggie pancakes (especially the tofu ones) at Bowl'd, veggie pot stickers, veggie chop chae, etc. Otherwise, the food looked fresh and the servers were nice. What a great addition to Solano Avenue! I get so excited when I see these Asian "fast food" joints pop up. This place was clean, staff was friendly, and service was very quick. We opted for one of their bibimbap bowls with bulgogi to-go. The presentation was unlike anything I've sen before. Once you open the bowl, there is a section full of banchan (Korean appetizers) that can be removed to reveal the rice and meat underneath. This is perfect because you can decide whether or not you want to add the kimchi, etc. to your bowl. The food itself was fresh and delicious. I would definitely go back. There was no one when we went in so I only hope that people start to catch on and that this place doesn't close! We need more Korean food in the East Bay. read more

You know when music is so loud that you almost can't enjoy the food...well this was happening...but then the food ended up over powering the the Pop Music blasting through the restaurant and I walked away pretty satisfied. Um.... I ordered three bibimbap (rice bowls) & got home to find that the rice in them was UNCOOKED. Not just half-cooked or al dente, but like opaque with cracks. INEDIBLE. How does this happen? Maybe they soaked the rice & then the rice cooker got unplugged? But to serve the rice & not even notice that it is as hard as plastic & crumbly? That shows a total disregard for the food. Maybe this was a rare mistake. Maybe they hired a new kid in the kitchen who has never seen/eaten cooked rice. I dunno. I ordered the Works bowl with bulgogi over purple rice and a Teriyaki bowl with popcorn chicken over kimchi fried rice. Both were delicious and they give you enough to make you full. I really liked the flavor of beef bulgogi and the crispiness of the popcorn chicken. Inside, everything was very clean and neatly organized. Service was excellent as well. They also sell handcrafted dog treats which was very unique and interesting. I bought three small bags of treats, one of each flavor, and my dog loved them all. I'll definitely come back to grab some food for myself AND my dog which is a very nice concept imo. read more

This is one of my favorite places for a quick healthy bite. Their menu is not extensive but what they offer has been consistent in terms of portion size and quality. I've never encountered stale or poor quality ingredients here. I always get the tuna poke bowl for myself (purple rice), my friends and family like the 1/2 tuna, 1/2 salmon with japchae noodles or salad. I like that their bowls have a good mix of veggies and seasonings, ranging from broccoli, corn, seaweed, ginger, shredded carrot, pickled veggies, and a slice of orange. For kids, teriyaki chicken or the sides of popcorn chicken and fried dumplings. The interior is compact and clean, and the staff is efficient. They also sell doggie treats, homemade kimchee, Korean drinks and ice cream (gelato? I can't remember). The drink selection could be bigger but I'm here for the food, so I don't mind. read more

Brown rice was good. I really like the pre-cut kimchee, etc. that sits on top, and I'm glad there were plenty of veggies.. I really try to support new local businesses, but I am not so sure about the Bopshop Korean Kitchen. I came in a weekday at around 6:00 p.m. The place was practically empty. When I tried to order the BBQ chicken, they notified me that they were entirely out of chicken. WTF? It's 6:00 p.m. and no one is even in your restaurant, so how are you already out of basic ingredients? I left because I don't eat pork and that seemed to be the only other option. I decided to give 'em another shot. I went in for lunch and finally got to order the Korean rice bowl with BBQ chicken. The place was empty again. The service wasn't friendly and I specifically asked for NO EGG on the top of my rice bowl. Seeing as the place was completely empty, I figured they would respect my request to not add an egg on top... Nope! They added a huge egg on top. WTF? So not only was the service unfriendly, but they also don't adhere to their customer's simple requests. With all that being said, the food tasted decent. It was only about $10 for a large portion of food. The bowl was very heavy; however, I think it mostly consisted of rice. I will probably go back to give them one more shot, but I really wanted to love this place. read more

I got a salmon poke - included in the bowl there's squid, ginger, whole garlic cloves, seaweed salad, a generous scoop of crab, corn, edemame, ginger, siracha sauce and sticky rice. This restaurant is related to Spoon and Bowl'd. So, expect your food to be healthy, clean with understanding staff about special diets. I asked how their food is different from their other restaurants and the nice man responded how they have different ingredients. I tried their veggie Jap Chae and it was delicious. They added key veggies that are nutritious and unique. (Nice touch on the kale!) One critique - too much salt. I'll tell the Chef that when I visit next. I'm excited to try their porridge because I hope it's as good as the porridge from Spoon. This feels more like a quick bite/take out space as the seating area is more bar style. Popped in on a slow Saturday around 6p and ordered a spicy pork with mixed grain rice. Took less than 5 minutes, paid $9.84, opened it about 20 minutes later and what do we have? White rice instead of mixed grain. Le sigh. I mean, if the place was busy I can understand. But I, the lone customer, asked for mixed grained seemed like a simple you-can't-mess-this-up request. But also with a fair warning: if you're a Korean food snob and expect traditional Korean food to be served to you, this joint has "modernized" Korean style food. But since I didn't want to wait in line for Bowl'd, I decided to pick something up at Bopshop (Definitely going back to try Bowl'd though for sure)! They have a build it yourself styled bibimbap, kind of like a Korean Chipotle if I had to describe it in a few words. There are several bases and meats to choose from: I chose purple rice and pork belly for my bowl. It's nice that they offer so many different types of bowls (from teriyaki style to poke), so bring the whole squad. There is bound to be something that everyone can choose from and be satisfied with. They have this neat bento like packaging that separated your choice of rice/noodle/salad from the veggie mixture, which is in a separate container placed on top. Very convenient packaging! The food was great for the price, especially for the amount they give you. As a person from Seattle, I wish they had something like this near me. I honestly would come here all the time. Cool new place! Food is healthy and delicious. I don't like food that makes me feel fat or unhealthy (at least not most of the time...). And this food is healthy and light but still easy to grab. If your boyfriend is anti-healthy foods, there's always chicken wings. ;) Also I like that the food is just plain and simple, no frills. I don't like Bay Area places that are too experimental or that serve weird fusion foods. This is just good because the ingredients are fresh, and you just pick whatever you like. Pleasantly surprised by cured or pickled celery, never tried that before. Service is great. The people working here are clearly excited about their business and proud of their concept. While the noodles were great and the meat was great as well, our bibim bop veggies tasted spoiled. It's from all the veggies they leave out on the cool counter top, so it should have been refrigerated well. That's too bad, because I wanted to like them! I was at Bopshop Korean Kitchen on Solano Avenue, next to Peet's coffee on May 2, 2020 and ordered the poke bowl with salmon and purple rice. Was very satisfied with the food and portion size. However, on my return visit on 5/22 Friday around 1 pm ish, I ordered the same item and opened the brown bag at home. It was obvious that the bowl size was at least one inch in diameter SMALLER and much shallower in depth (because I saved the bowl from May 2). Paid $14.23 in cash. Therefore, the food portion was smaller and the vegetable ingredients were less as well. All in all, the portion was 1/3 less compared to my last serving! Also, the ingredients were not as fresh as before. I have shared my disappointing experience with a friend who introduced me to your Kitchen. I am taking the time to write because I didn't read any recent review for this Korean Kitchen & therefore this will be timely. I hope there's going to be IMPROVED quality control in the kitchen. The owners are related to the Ohgane/Bowl'd/Spoon restaurants. They offer bibimbap, teriyaki bowls, rice plates and wings. Spicy pork belly was flavorful but tough. Twice cooked? Food was a bit slow coming out considering that it will be mostly takeout. Room for improvement but happy to welcome them to the neighborhood. read more
