I completed my esthetician training all throughout the pandemic lockdown, which prevented me from having that hands on experience. I knew of Bora through friends of friends and was always stricken by the beauty of her complexion. Fast forward to Dec 2018. I think I have pretty good skin (genetics; can't take credit) but like to treat myself to a facial every few months. Who doesn't love a good pampering experience? Bora designed a facial experience was first class! She started by looking at my skin and assessing what I needed and didn't read (read: painful extractions.) Frankly, the session was so relaxing that I struggle to recall what exactly happened. I remember a great hand/arm massage and those fabulous warm mitten things. And, then I remember waking up and asking if I had fallen asleep. This I know for sure: my skin looked fantastic and no red blotches. Highly recommended. I wish I would have known there was a wax as painless as the one Bora has here!!! I got a brazilian here and it was great!! It barely hurt (compared to my previous Brazilian/bikini waxes at Pari Salon). Bora made me feel really comfortable and used the soft wax (w/out strips). It is located in a salon (The Refinery) and you can park in the back for free! She doesnt double dip and It is very clean environment...again unlike Pari's. I was on the phone with Ms. Bora at 4:36 p.m. yesterday when I asked if I could possibly nab an appointment for the same day. She paused for a second (probably checking her appointment book) and asked if I could make it at 5:15. I hopped in the shower and made a dash up Lincoln Blvd (same street I live on) over to Tivoli. She's nice, straightforward, no fuss... First time ever with hard wax (been waxing for over 10 years now) and she was great. She's easy to talk to and will answer your questions (even I still had questions after all these years... everyone does and approaches things in their own way). Pre-scheduled for another three weeks for "maintenance" (which gets you 15% off). She'll text me the day before and I have up to that time to cancel/reschedule. I'm definitely going back so I can do a follow up review and rate Ms. Bora at a full 5 stars. This hard wax method definitely seemed less painful than the soft wax+strips method. read more

I went to the salon because it was open late and I saw good reviews on yelp. However when I got there I wasn't even greeted and then led into a tiny room that was not relaxing in anyway. The dermatologist seem to be in a rush because she rushed through my Brazilian extremely fast that it hurt. She was not gentle in anyway. She ended up doing a fine job however I have had much better Brazilians at other salons for a cheaper price. I did not feel welcome at this place, I actually felt like she wanted me to leave as soon as possible. The place that I normally go to, sassy ladies beauty bar over in Westchester, can give better Brazilians at a cheaper price. I'm sorry to say that I will not be going back to Boras. read more

My God, Bora is a skincare goddess. I have gotten several facials from her and finally decided it was time to write a review as glowing as my skin. What is so special about her treatments, imho, is that they are customized for your skin and current condition. I've gone in with flawless yet dry skin and come out dewey and moisturized, and I've gone in complaining of painful red breakouts and within 2 days post-treatment had a beautiful complexion once more. Bora is very educated and really know her stuff. She also sells a few products lines, but isn't pushy about it- another plus. I have bounced around to and fro when it comes to skin care. Over the counter products, department store products, expensive dermatologists... When I started to go see Bora my skin was not great. But I was afraid to commit to some new regiment. She didn't pressure me into anything and slowly but surely I worked into a product line. That was great, NO PRESSURE! And then, the skin care she recommended really worked and I was absolutely pleased with the results. The facials are relaxing and I have a nice glow about me when it's over. I have had my fair share of waxing experiences in my days, and I can say without a doubt that Bora is the best! She's super professional, thorough, and gentle, which allows every waxing experience with her to be painless and relaxing ending in extreme delight with my results. At the same time, she is also very friendly and intelligent offering very constructive advice during our many conversations about life, which help distract me from the pain. These insightful conversations make the whole experience very therapeutic. I ALWAYS look forward to my appointments with Bora not only for the hairless results, but also for the social aspect and the relationship with her. And the rare times that I am not in the mood to talk, she can pick up on it right away and allows for it to be a quiet experience where I don't feel obligated to partake in any conversation. But like I said, these times are generally pretty rare since I usually look forward to my conversations with her. She's also very understanding and accommodating. My work schedule is pretty unreliable and unfortunately tends to change at the last minute from time to time. If it ever conflicts with my appointment with Bora, she totally understands and we find a different time slot that she has available that day or that week to reschedule. Lastly, I wanted to mention my issue with ingrown hairs. This has been an annoying problem of mine forever. They occurred when I shaved, waxed, thread, and plucked. You name the hair removal act, I got them. However, after discussing this issue with her, Bora offered me one of her products that improved it dramatically. I now use this product for everything from razor burns and rashes to acne or big blemishes. So don't forget to inquire about her products while you are there for an appointment.
