I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for a work trip and ended up eating here a couple of times due to convenience. The service was good, ambiance was chill and it was never overly busy. The food was good for a hotel restaurant but I do wish there were some different options for appetizers or small bites.

Having eaten at the Bordeaux quite often for nearly two years now due to staying at the Crowne Plaza frequently, I've had a chance to sample lots of their food. The quality of the food has pretty much stayed the same, but it feels like the "hit-or-miss" dishes are more often "misses" than they used to be. But unfortunately their eye for detail seems to have completely gone away. Recently, every order I make has something wrong with it. Either the Beet and Goat salad comes sans goat cheese (which is really the best part of the salad imo), or they forget the sauce you wanted and instead put extra of the sauce you didn't want, or they miss something that you marked on the breakfast order form. Since I stay here often and don't want to anger the staff with my calls every time they miss something, I just live with it. :(

This is a restaurant in a really nice hotel. The 3 is for the very limited vegan options. The fries were delicious and my only meal option other than stripping a salad to make it vegan. Service was decent. The restaurant has a bar and the wine was ok.

I had heard rumblings of Bordeaux, but had never visited. We decided it would be a nice dinner prior to tickets at Wharton. (15 minute straight shot down the highway if anyone is wondering) I was fairly surprised to walk in and only see one 2 top in the bar area. We had the entire dining room to ourselves to start. Our server was managing the bar and also covering tables. He did an excellent job! We started with the brussels sprouts, which were amazing. My daughters split the goat cheese gnocchi and loved it, and I had the grilled cheese. This was a grown up grilled cheese with sliced apples and Gruyere and it was tasty! I upgraded to the truffle tots instead of home made chips. For dessert the kids had a chocolate torte and I had the espresso martini. A few other tables trickled in while we ate but I was surprised by how quiet it was for a Friday night. The food and service were excellent, and I would highly recommend that you check it out!

Bordeaux is a nice option in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. My boyfriend and I wanted to order room service from there but the phone lines were all busy. So we trekked down to the restaurant to grab some food after a long day of football in East Lansing. We had stayed in this hotel and gotten room service previously, so we stuck with what we knew and got the same meals - boneless wings and a quesadilla. We also added a couple cups of soup since we were so cold from being outside in a hailstorm during the game! The food came out quickly and everything was good. The quesadilla has grilled peppers and onions in it and comes with sour cream, salsa, and guacamole, which is great. The boneless wings come dry with sauce on the side. They also offer complimentary bread and butter, which was really nice. The menu includes some more elegant entree choices, like filet mignon, ribeye, whitefish, salmon, etc. - we just wanted some easy, comfort pub food. Our server was really sweet and attentive and was apologetic about the incredibly rowdy and very loud group near our table. When we said we would just box everything up to go (since it was so loud), she brought out boxes promptly and even had to-go cups with lids for all our sauces. We spent about $35 before tip without any beverages, not bad considering it's in a hotel and typically those restaurants are pretty expensive. Would I go out of my way to dine here? No, but if I stayed at this hotel again and was too tired to go anywhere else, it's definitely a good choice.

Food is pricey but the servings are a lot, well worth the money. Got carry out two nights in a row and didn't have a bad piece of food.

Update: I am sorry…read moreto update everyone that Travis left EnVie. The new bartender leaves so much to be desired. Pretentious bartender who really really wants to be known for being a mixologist. Don't you dare ask to modify any of his ingenious cocktail creations. I've been to many many bars in my lifetime. Nice bars, hole in the walls, distilleries, hotel bars, outdoor bars, cute little trailer-wedding bars, speakeasies. You get my point. My standards are high but i'm down wherever too. this is the first time anyone has refused to modify a drink for me. and i'm not talking about changing everything. i'm talking about swapping out mezcal for gin (there are barely any gin cocktails anymore). i've been here three or four times since the new bartender-- and i don't even sit at the bar anymore. the only redeeming quality of the place is the chef(s?) who I feel really takes care of people and makes the food with love and care and excellence. the burgers and steak are literal perfection. Le sigh. Travis if you're reading this-- Mike and I miss you!! Management, please try to get him back! The restaurant is quaint but with sufficient seating to accommodate both small and medium sized groups. There is ample parking as it is located in a downtown district. The decor is simple modern, nice clean lines every where you look. Our waitress, along with those assisting her with food and drink were abundantly pleasant and welcoming. At one point the waitress prepared to offer me and my dining companions the drink specials and I jokingly asked her if she would "freestyle them" while I beatboxed. She admitted she was horrible but was down to try! We were both horrible but the exchange was fantastic and very personable! We appreciated her and her service throughout our evening. All of the cocktails we selected were well made with high quality liquors, no complaints there! The food. The food, the food was superb! We all enjoy the presentation of our dishes, beautiful and simple! Everything tasted well balanced and flavorful served in perfect portions. Our only complaint here was the pasta in the Cacio e Pepe. It was a little heavy and thick in texture but the flavors and the lump crab made up for it! The gluten free cake was shared by the table and enough for all to feel just the tiniest bit gluttonous! I look forward to returning to Envie to check out more of their menu and perhaps be able to have the same waitress.

There were only four of us, but we ended up at what felt like a six-person booth/table setup. It made it a little tricky to talk with everyone, but we survived. Now listen... the bread. Oh, the bread. I have been dreaming about this bread ever since I had it. And I mean that literally, I was dreaming about the bread while I was actively eating it. It was THAT good. My pasta was delicious and had a nice kick to it. I knew it was supposed to be spicy, but even after reading the reviews I was still a little surprised by the heat. Thankfully, it was the good kind of spicy where you keep going back for another bite. Overall, a really nice spot with some seriously memorable bread.

Unfortunately, our dining experience was disappointing. We weren't allowed to order from the regular happy hour menu and were limited to a much more expensive fixed menu. The calamari was good, but the featured Jazzleberry cocktail tasted weak and watered down. The prosciutto and melon appetizer was served with a large piece of half-burnt toast, the melon was hard and underripe, and the prosciutto was dry and sliced so thick it was difficult to cut or eat. I asked only for a replacement piece of toast, but our server brought an entire basket of focaccia instead. Since we hadn't ordered it, we assumed it was a courtesy replacement. We were surprised to find an $8 charge for the bread on our bill. This was at least our third disappointing experience. Toscana has a lovely atmosphere and wonderful live music, but the food quality and service have consistently fallen short. I truly hope they can improve because I'd like to enjoy dining here as much as I enjoy the entertainment.

The entrées did not disappoint. My husband had the salmon, delicately enhanced with salmoriglio, served with wild rice atop a light bed of bok choy and baby carrots--simple, fresh, and perfectly balanced. I had the crab-stuffed shrimp, which was absolutely fabulous, also with wild rice, baby carrots, and that sneaky little layer of bok choy you barely notice but totally appreciate. It was a busy Saturday night, so definitely make reservations--it's worth it. The atmosphere struck the perfect balance: lively but not loud, elegant without being stuffy--the kind of place that makes you feel justified putting on heels and lipstick just because.
