We got two appetizers (the ones that the waiter suggested) it was amazing the pulled beef tacos and the pastrami one!!! Good crispy and tasty!!! The we got our main, my wife ordered baby lamb chops with a side of green beans, delicious! The lamb melted in your mouth! And the beans had amazing seasoning on it! Garlicky! I ordered the 21 day aged 25 oz stake!! Was ok, a little over cooked... But the seasoning was nice and it wasn't that bad, And the fries were missing some seasoning! Nestled in a noisy , bustling urban atmosphere, lies a tranquil steakhouse like none other- Bordeaux. My parents treated me to a dinner here for my birthday, a dinner that was truly impeccable. Walk into the establishment and you are immediately transfixed by the serene, "spa-like" atmosphere in the restaurant. The space is quite large, giving each and every table in the restaurant a sense of privacy. Once we walked in, we were greeted warmly from the restaurant manager, who immediately took us to our table. The wait staff at Bordeaux were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. You start by perusing through drink and dinner menus, trying not to salivate by all of the delicious menu options. I ordered the chicken lollipops for the appetizer, and the 25oz bone-in ribeye foor my main dish. Perhaps one of the most underrated foods here at Bordeaux is the starting bread dish. The bread is a cross between a warm, fresh ciabatta roll and a moist croissant. It was absolutely delicious. It was served along with extra virgin olive oil and some sort of tomato dip, which added spicy and nutty elements to the bread. The waitress then brought out my appetizer. Man, was that thing tasty. Battered chicken balls mixed with delicious spices and a serious outer crunch. Amazing. After absolutely polishing off the appetizer, I then waited about 10 minutes for my main. And let me tell you. It was a MAIN alright. The gargantuan steak, (medium rare, of course) was brought out to me by one of the chefs and was served along with some delectable house fries and a variety of steak sauces. The first bite of the meat I consumed, the juices contained in the meat exploded in my mouth. It was an unreal experience. Being that I was too full for dessert, I did not order any, but from what I hear they are impeccable. The icing on the cake was of course the HOT TOWELS that were distributed to us at the end of the meal, to wipe our hands and face. This is by far the best kosher steakhouse that you can go to if you prefer: top notch service, food quality and ambiance. We had a dinner for 16 people and it was phenomenal from the waiter (Eli) who was so attentive and speedy with anything we asked him to bring to the actual food that was seasoned and presented on such high level. Group mostly had 35 oz steak ( amazing) and some fish (also amazing) their sides are so so tasty and fresh... appetizers we had sliders, beef tacos, some salads and chicken popers all 5 out 5. Their drinks (Bordeaux surprise) def.worth trying not watered down by any means. I strongly believe that all negative reviews are due to the fact people dont realize how expensive Bordeaux is for a good reason, they are expensive because they offer high quality food and that is completely worth paying for it. Bordeaux is a decent experience that is made terrible by several of the restaurant's practices. The food was decent. It's nothing great but I would consider myself lucky to eat the food on most nights. Unfortunately, however, the food is invariably drastically overpriced. I'd guess the appetizers average at least $20, the steaks around $60, and the other main course around $60 as well. I thought I would be treated to a wonderful steak based on the prices but as I mentioned earlier it was merely passable. Same with the appetizers. This isn't bad food--but when you pay top dollar for average food it leaves a bad taste in your mouth (pun intended). Moving on to service. Like most of the reviewers, I thought my server was very kind and generally effective. But I also thought she was tough to track down and I honestly think we spoke to her 3 times total. She was slow to greet us; she didn't offer us any wine or a wine menu (I had to ask if they had a wine menu because I would like to drink some wine at the restaurant, you know, the one called Bordeaux); she never gave us any of the bread I heard so much about; and we hardly ever saw her for the rest of the night. My wife and I were planning on ordering a bottle of wine but settled on one glass because we didn't see her again until we had nearly finished our meals. Again, she was very kind and knew the menu well, but she wasn't great. To be very honest, I was planning on tipping her at a mediocre rate because I felt her service was mediocre, at best. Unfortunately I didn't get to make that decision for myself. I got the check. It looked like a normal check. It had a total price, a spot for the customer to add a tip, and a spot to sign. After looking at the line items because the total price seemed abnormally high, I noticed the restaurant had already added an 18% gratuity. Several things are very frustrating about this. One, the service was bad and I was forced to pay a tip. Two, not only was I forced to pay a tip, but forced to pay a tip that was what many consider to be a tip that represents good service (I wouldn't be as frustrated if they included a mandatory 15% tip or something similar). Three, the check still included space to add an additional gratuity with no indication that one was already added. I thought this setup was very tactless and borderline fraudulent (plus I don't recall noting any warnings on the menu or elsewhere that the meal would be subject to an automatic gratuity). Again, the whole tip thing is sort of like the food: an 18% automatic gratuity isn't the worst thing. It's typically not a big deal. But when you add it in a deceitful way and couple it with bad service, it makes the night notable in the worst ways. Those are really my two biggest complaints. I thought the wine list left much to be desired, but at least the wines weren't severely overpriced and, hey, I'm no snob; I don't have to drink the world's most overpriced grapes to have a good time. I also thought there were a couple of other tactless activities that wouldn't pass muster at any other fine dining establishment I've been too, but I wasn't that hung up on that stuff. It was really the shady gratuity fiasco and the overpriced mediocre food that upset me. I don't understand why so many people rave about both. It seems like anyone who has tasted a steak a short subway ride away would expect more. read more

Food was fine, but nothing extraordinary. Pricey for the location, IMHO, Coney Island/Ave P is not Midtown, so I can't really justify their prices. The worst part is that they automatically add 18% gratuity to your bill, without saying anything. What kind of establishment does shady things like that? I'm not against tipping, not at all, but it is voluntary and up to patron to decide whether to tip or not, and how much to tip, not to the restaurant. I don't recommend going there. read more

This place is ****** expensive! The food was great and the service was excellent. But in my opinion the prices are really off. I went with 5 ppl and we each ordered a steak. No appetizers, no dessert, only two drinks. The Bill came out to nearly 100 dollars a person. They charged us 16 dollars for water and included a mandatory huge tip. I love to tip good service but on a large check, I don't believe in using the same percentages. Overall I don't have a problem paying 100 bucks for maybe a three course meal, but not one plate. What a great night. A gorgeous restaurant, attentive service and delicious food, what more could you want from a night out. We really wanted to try the whole menu but settled on 4 appetizers, a steak to share and a couple of desserts. We came in from the cold and immediately got cozy. As soon as we placed our order a steaming hot board of bread came to the table, this was not just any bread though it was layered, rich and flaky and they serve it with an olive oil & grated tomato with herbs and spices to dip into. They do it well here and we had to use all our self-control not to ask for another one. We ate it so fast we didn't even have time to take a picture first. Then the apps started coming, the Aged Beef Carpaccio which was just beyond perfect. It's a well marbled, pastrami spiced, just lightly seared and thinly sliced meat on a crispy crostini with a balsamic glaze and garlic aioli. It is a flawlessly balanced bite that keeps you going back for more, we were just going to eat one piece each so we would save room for the rest of the food but we couldn't stop ourselves and cleaned the plate. Next were the Crispy Chicken Wings. Now chicken wings are my favorite and these did not disappoint. They were panko crusted and turned into lollipops which make eating them a cinch, they were crispy and tender at the same time and the ginger-garlic-honey sauce was delicate and light and as such it didn't make them soggy or overwhelm the chicken flavor. Basically YUM! Again we cleared the plate. Then there were the Chef's Specials a new menu that they were showing, we tried two apps from there too, Avocado La Balle' was both healthy and imaginative. It's like a bombe of thinly sliced perfectly ripe avocado stuffed with creamy herbed risotto and little crunchy red quinoa with roasted thyme infused beets with black sesame seeds on top with some chopped red onion and spicy arugula dressing the plate. This was so light and yet indulgent we really enjoyed it and the presentation is just beautiful and delicate. The final app was the Celestial Glazed Capon, the name was fitting as it was heavenly. The tender capon was wrapped around a mound of creamy broiled chicken liver that was cooked with Rioja wine, onions and rosemary then served over a cilantro aioli with a candied black sesame ring almost like a sweet halo on a delicious dish. I am not a big chicken liver fan as I find them chalky but these were somehow creamy and flavorful, my husband and I both really loved it. Once the plates were cleared I ordered a glass of Cabernet to go with the rest of dinner which was the perfect complement to what came next. We decided to go big and share the 22 oz Bone in Prime Ribeye. Now steak is tricky because when it's good its transcendent and when it isn't it just isn't. We asked for it to be medium rare and as much as it's almost never the case this steak was perfectly cooked. It was aged just right and each bite was tender, juicy and perfectly seared. It is probably one of the best steaks I have had. A grilled juicy tomato was on the plate with it as well as crispy fries which are like thick potato wedges and although they are really good we were so focused on the steak we almost didn't see anything else. They also serve it with three different sauces which are delicious but the steak is so good we didn't want anything to interfere with its flavor. We also ordered the Bordeaux Caesar so we could say we had something green on the table, we ordered it almost as an afterthought but even with how good the steak was I found myself stealing bites of the crunchy romaine and creamy garlic confit. The dressing was just right and between bites of steak we somehow finished the salad too! After our plates were cleared we went for desert, we know about the Deconstructed Smore so we had to order that and then noticed new on the menu was a Chocolate Halva Bombe, so yeah you can guess we both love chocolate. Then the owner came by and said they were testing out a new desert a Lotus Ice Cream type desert so of course we tried that too! The Chocolate Halva Bombe comes with a chocolate shell over a halvah crème with a warm chocolate syrup poured over tableside. They waiter started before I could cue my camera but we stopped him and got a video it was just too cool not to share and too delicious, it was sweet, creamy and beyond all our expectations. Like a chocolate soup with a yummy crème floating in the middle. Then the Smore, now how can you go wrong, homemade marshmallow with a perfectly broiled top, a warm fudge brownie and a vanilla bean ice cream. For parve deserts you really lucky to get anything worth the calories, but Bordeaux is the exception. These deserts are just sick. The new Lotus ice cream type desert was really good, it reminded me of the ice cream my dad used to take me to get in Israel called Glida Mastic (basically ice cream gum) it's like a chewy marzipan ice cream with Lotus cookie pieces and pieces of white chocolate. read more
