What the hell...We decided to give it a shot. We walk in and it's set up like an old school diner. Front-counter seats, and diner booths; Exactly what we were hoping for. We have a seat and start off with coffee while we browse the menu. I gotta be honest: The coffee was awful. It tasted burnt and acidic as hell. Ugh... Service was on point. There was one waitress taking care of absolutely everyone: Every booth and every customer at the counter. She had us all under control. Brava! The man ordered two eggs over easy, corned beef hash, potatoes, and rye toast. I ordered an Italian omelette, potatoes and white toast. The two eggs over easy were perfect. The corned beef hash was absolutely delicious. The potatoes had room for a little salt and pepper, but they were perfectly cooked. The Italian omelette was delectable. My potatoes and toast were just as perfect. The bill for both meals and (awful) coffee was $25. Incredibly affordable, extraordinary meals; Just need to order a different beverage, next time. I agree with another review I have seen on yelp. With the excuses of the "price may be different from what you see on the menu" written with a pen on the front page of it ,one of the waitress(the loudest one in there)took advantage of me twice. The first time I thought it was a mistake but the second she charged me more than twice of the price on the menu.I have asked why and she came up with a ridicule excuse. I'm pretty sure that the extra money goes straight down her pocket. It is a shame cause the place is lovely and the other two ladies I have seen working there are nice and polite.I am trying to support small business but if this the way I get treated then I'm done. Went in to have breakfast with my wife and newborn son. We were ignored and when I tried to get the waitress' attention I was ignored AGAIN. She said she had an important call when she finally walked over, not apologizing and acted like we were a burden being there. Dirty plates all over the tables. She asked if we wanted menus and when we said yes she smacked one of the booths in frustration. I support local businesses as much as possible in the neighborhood I love and have never experienced anything like this. Never stepping foot in this place again. read more

If your going to work in the hospitality industry and you receive an order with "multiple paragraphs" allergy warnings and you as a restaurant don't have time or want to take care of the allergies stated. CALL THE CUSTOMER! Save them AND yourselves the time and effort. I ordered multiple different items and have ordered in the past from here with no problems. At a Thursday @ 1130am. I ordered a burger and specified I did not want a bun. I stated the person ordering the burger has a wheat allergy. When I called to ask what happened the women who answered the phone was finishing a conversation and laughing with someone else. Then She said a distracted hello? I said, haha hello good morning to you. She said, yes? Can I help you? (With an attitude) I said thank you for asking, yes, I ordered from Grubhub and I've ordered from you all before. And you have been great! I have food allergies and so does my boyfriend. I said the burger has a bun on it. I wrote wheat allergy please don't put bun. She yelled back to the kitchen, you put a bun on the burger? She proceeded to tell me that she will have her delivery boy come back pick up the wrong burger (and hand me a new burger with no bun.) I said just please next time read the comments section for allergy's and if you can't handle it please call the customer and tell them. It saves us all the trouble and a possible food allergy episode. She cut me off (I was saying this as nice as possible. I am in the food industry and when an allergy comes in and we think we can't handle it we call the customer and say sorry we are too busy to be super careful for your allergy. That simple)! She said "you have no idea I've had a crazy morning here!! it's super busy when you leave me multiple different paragraphs it's just a lot to read and deal with! Its very overwhelming." I said to her well if you see that there's an allergy and you guys cannot handle it please call the customer and tell them before you just make the order however you want without caring about the persons diatary needs. She again told me that she's going to send the guy back to get the burger and they're going to make me a new one and I said you know what that's a waste of time and energy for the delivery person and for you guys especially since you're having a crazy morning I'll just have someone else eat it that can have wheat and I just won't try to order a burger again. She said no no I'm going to just remake it and send it out. I said I do not want a new burger. I just won't order it again. Everything else looks good! Thanks. (Instead of suggesting I order next time the diet burger which I didn't see on their menu till now ((doesn't contain a bun)) she got all angry with me.) I was trying to explain calmly to her if you don't have time to take care of an allergy call the customer and let them know. That simple. Or say it would be better if you could come into the restaurant next time to order if you have allergy concerns. She proceeded to continue to be rude to me on the phone. Finally I said you know what if your too busy to be careful to make food for someone with an allergy I will have to remember this and not order from you next time. That's too bad. Especially during a pandemic! I also tipped the delivery guy more money after I tipped on Grubhub with a small bottle of hand sanitizer and chocolate. He made out on this failed order. I gave 4 stars because the rest of my order was yummy. Just a little advice to "The coffee club" When you guys answer your phone be prepared to greet the customer with respect and speak professionally. The coffee club has typical diner fare. The burgers are always made to my liking. Their rolls, bagels, toast, croissants etc are always fresh and never stale. The cobb salad with grilled chicken is really good. The spaghetti and meatballs is pretty tasty if that's what you are in the mood for and can't make it to the nearest Italian restaurant. When we order we usually order breakfast and dinner because they close early. Its worth a shot if your in the mood for some diner food. read more

I popped in as I had a half hour before my doctor visit for a great Greek omelette and tasty coffee. It's definitely a Brooklyn place. Not only was the food great but you will be submerged in a cultural experience. From the elderly customer complaining to the waitress about her husband who wants cigars ( who needs to be bothered at this age). To The catcall of "youse want some Caw-fiiiii- its a must. The Coffee Club - Disco Fries with Melted Mozzarella Cheese and Gravy - Diners Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

It's been a couple of years since I ate in the restaurant but I've ordered online about a half a dozen times in the past year, giving them a chance each time but I've just stopped. The owner and staff have a really negative, sometimes nasty attitude towards the customers. It's bizarre. Their grilled chicken is always overcooked to the point that the outside of the thin cutlets are hard as a rock. So disappointing to bite into a wrap expecting soft, grilled chicken and getting this hard exterior and dry meat. Tried ordered broiled chop steak and checked the Well Done box and it wasn't broiled at all. The outside is supposed to be charred and this was not charred at all. It was soft and mushy. And gross. Their breakfast menu on Grubhub, Seamless and Ubereats is a scam. Click on any breakfast platter that comes with home fries and you are forced to make a selection that substitutes the home fries for something else for more money. But then you have to choose from Home fries or whatever in the next menu box. There's no way to just click Home Fries and be done with it so unless you want to pay more and substitute the home fries or wind up with a side order of something you don't want, you have to pass on all those breakfast platters. The final straw for this place for me was a few months ago when I ordered something and got a message from Seamless or GH saying that the my bill was adjusted and I was charged a dollar or two more than the total when I place the order. In the notes the restaurant had written, "Menu price was wrong." You can't do that and just charge me more. Imagine if that was allowed! Fix your menu. Whatever it was, it wasn't like I was getting a bargain and it was an obvious error. It was a $15-20 item that they upped the charge on. I wrote to S/GH and they refunded it and said restaurants are not allowed to do that. So yeah, no more. It's a shame because I live pretty close to the place and the delivery is fast but that's about the only positive. read more

I have been going here for a while. It is not the best place but you kinda know that when you walk in the door. The Deco is straight out of the '80s Most of the time I have a pleasant experience. The last time I went there I did not. I went there 7/13/19. I ordered mozzarella sticks a grilled cheese and french fries a very standard order for me. 2 minutes later the mozzarella sticks came out and I knew something was off. Yeah, they were still FROZEN. I immediately told the waitress and told her to forget them and take them off my bill I refuse to pay for that. Grilled cheese and fries came out fine. Walked in there at 7am on Monday and the woman told me I had to wait 15 min for the griddle to get hot and seemed annoyed that I was there. It opens at 7am and on a weekday people are expecting to get in and get out so they can get to get to work. So I left and figured I'd come back another day when I had more time. I came in at 9am on my day off and the same woman pointed at a table and when I sat down, I saw that the table was dirty. I wiped it with a tissue. Breadcrumbs, dried ketchup. Their delivery driver came very close to hitting me and running me over on the sidewalk in front of St. Patrick's Church today, across the street from the restaurant. He came up behind me so closely and was going so fast, that I felt a breeze as he zoomed past. It is illegal for bicycles to drive on the sidewalk. I saw the guy park in front of the restaurant, and went to talk to him about it. He said he didn't know what I was talking about. When I called later and asked for the manager, the owner's daughter answered the phone and was extremely rude about it, saying the owner wasn't there and immediately hung up on me, without even knowing what I was calling about. When I called back and said I needed to let them know of a problem with their delivery employee, she said she thought it was me because she heard me talking to the guy through their open door....and that the owner wasn't there until the weekend. Before she hung up on me again, I nicely told her I was calling because I did not think the guy understood what I was saying due to a language barrier, and that they needed to tell him to be more careful and to not drive on the sidewalk. She deflected their responsibility for their employee, (not Grub Hub or Seamless) and said it wasn't the first or the last time that something like that was going to happen and that he didn't speak English, as if there was nothing they could do about it. I said that his reckless driving was a liability to her business and a danger to the neighborhood, especially in front of a church and school....and that they should talk to him about traffic laws and being more careful. Then there would at least be one less dangerous delivery driver in the neighborhood. She rudely got off the phone with me. This business obviously does not operate responsibly, nor do they care for their neighbors or the community who supports their business. They may not realize that legally, they are liable for the behavior of their employees while working/ delivering food, and for any damages/ accidents they may cause. It is their legal responsibility to educate their staff on the traffic laws and to employ responsible delivery staff. There is a lot they can do about the situation! I would advise against patronizing them and go a few doors down to another diner! read more

When you call to inquire about your order which is an hour late the rude Woman who answers the phone yells at you they are busy. I have never dealt with such a rude person in my life. A pleasant neighborhood diner that is a nice choice when you don't feel like dealing with any fast food joints or the nearby Bridgeview Diner. Recently popped into the place when a friend was seeking breakfast and didn't feel like the "30 minute" wait that Bridgeview told us. It was a holiday so to be expected. Anyway, since he was seeking eggs a burger place was out of the question. Cathy's Place is on the small side but cozy and has several booths and a nice sized counter for those who wish to dine there. After placing the order a couple of coffees came out. The order that my buddy made did seem to take a little longer but I assessed it was based on all the take out orders being prepared. There seemed to be quite a few deliveries being done. It was New Years Day after all and I guess many were too hungover to go out. While I was not eating yet and had plans for later, I will say that I almost broke that decree when his eggs and sausage came out. Man did that smell good and looked like a nice portion. It was interesting to know that they also own the neighboring pizzeria and when its asked for will serve their customers pizza if they want it. There was no WiFi signal sadly but that is a minor concern. Love Cathy's Place, my home away from home. The staff is friendly and welcoming, remembers my name and knows all my family members. I moved to Brooklyn over a year ago from WV and this place has become my haven. I always feel at home when I am here. Sometimes magical things happen too, like when the customers and the staff join in singing to Oldies playing on the Sound System. Food is home-made and very tasty. Please spare yourself the irritation and do not order from this place, especially on a weekend. I ordered online and the food came over an hour after it was supposed to. Before it came, I called the business and asked about my order. The woman I spoke to was extremely rude and basically said that the live orders are more of a priority than the online orders. When the food came, the order was inaccurate and this had happened once before. I contacted grub hub and the business refused to connect with them and said they would connect with me personally. When the same woman from our previous conversation called me back, she was still rude and then claimed that I would be reimbursed for the missing items of my order.
