Finding a house cleaner is difficult for me because i am picky, i am protective of my personal space, i have indoor cats, i am a germphobe and my standards for cleanliness are high. So I had been looking for a cleaning service for almost two years. I made a few appointments with other services, canceled most of them and then actually moving forward with one of them, only to be disappointed. I scheduled with Elmira for a time I knew I would be home so I could get a feel for how her team worked. Her team showed up exactly on time, and they bring everything with them, even the vacuum. After a minute chatting about the areas to be cleaned, they set to work. Four hours later (!!!!) my house was so spotless it looked even better than when I moved in. The price quoted me seemed far too low for the service rendered, so I included some extra. I plan to use Clean and Tidy on a monthly basis going forward. I highly recommend them if you are looking for a reliable service that does a great job and is a cut above the rest.

Jeanette wasted our time and left without cleaning our house. She clearly was looking for an…read moreexcuse to leave before she even started. Before she came, she asked how long our last cleaner took to clean our apartment, and we told her 3-4 hours. We didn't realize that she would take this as some sort of hard limit. She asked a question, we answered her truthfully. But when she showed up, she informed my husband that she had "something important" planned for later in the day and had allotted only 3-4 hours. Okay, that's a bit odd for a first time cleaning someone's house, since that usually takes longer than the average visit, but fine. She asked if there was anything in particular we wanted her to concentrate on, and he told her we'd like her to dust all surfaces, including baseboards, for our 1,100 sq ft apartment. She then informed him that she didn't think she could complete what we wanted within the 3-4 hrs she'd set aside. My husband asked if she could at least do some of it, and she said no and left. For reference, we first contacted her May 22nd, spoke for the first time June 5th, and scheduled for June 10th. This wasn't exactly last minute, and so it was even more irritating that even with advance planning, we *STILL* weren't able to get our house cleaned!! The price she quoted us is $35/hr. Our last cleaner was $30/hr and we always tipped him an extra $30. We recognize that it might be hard to find someone as awesome as our last cleaner (he could no longer work on weekends, which was when he previously cleaned our home), but honestly, it never would've occurred to us that we'd make plans with someone, they'd show up, and then decline to clean our house! For the record, our place was just cleaned a week and a half ago, so it's not actually all that dirty. All said and done, I feel like Jeannette really didn't want to be here today because of whatever it was she'd scheduled later in the day, and was looking for an out from the second she came in. We'd equipped ourselves with everything she'd asked us to have available for her use, allotted this time, and then she didn't even bother honoring her commitment. She actually had the nerve to tell us to reschedule with her for another time. Um, nope. This was your opportunity to work for us. We can't afford to waste our time on someone who might change her mind and decide on a whim not to do the job for which we hired her. That's not professional. The place is large. 3bd, 2ba, 1800+ sq ft. Mind you it is empty but that's a lot to cover. What I didn't realize is that 3 women came armed with a wide array of cleaning supplies. I told them they didn't have to vacuum since I was getting the carpet cleaned a few hours later, but they vacuumed up the dust and debris they had collected from swiping every crevice. They went right to work, cleaning all the normal stuff. What impressed me was all the little things they cleaned without my direction, from window sills to the oven grill and pans the laundry closet around the sides of the washer/dryer. They had a telescoping broom made specifically to dust the corners of the wall/ceiling. They even cleaned the light fixtures in the dining room and the lightbulbs. I needed a receipt so she rushed out to get one for me before they were done. I am still taken aback at how efficient they were. I was running around doing last cleanup and even taking work calls, but they were not annoyed or fazed by me. It took them about 2.5 hours and the cost was $140. For that level of quality service, I think that is phenomenal. Keep in mind prices may vary as this place was completely empty. I heard she does most of the Peninsula, so I will definitely refer her to people. Moving out is always stressful and usually somewhat melancholy or bittersweet. I really appreciate Sylvia's work and attitude in making this easy and hassle-free.
