Wow - what an amazing spot! We are visiting friends in town and during my research for our trip, i found Bos Taurus. As my husband is a huge fan of red meat, i got the reservation down a month in advance. Fast forward and we arrive in Bend and hear nothing but good things about Bos Taurus so we are excited. We were celebrating our anniversary. The hostess seated us right away. When our waiter greeted us, he brought over 2 glasses of champagne for our celebration. My husband doesn't drink so he also offered to ask the bartender to make him a mock tail instead. That was such a nice touch! Anyways, our server was absolutely amazing. He went through the whole menu with us and gave us recommendations. He knew his stuff. I love when waiters are passionate about the restaurant and food. It definitely shows. We got some apps and steak (obviously). To drink, i got the Me Llamo Monica - it's like a margarita made with mezcal. I like mezcal so it was an amazing drink. Apps: Pork cheeks - melt in your mouth and so so amazingly good. Served on top of a bed of polenta and topped with some cabbage. Definitely worth trying As an app, we had 2 oz of the Wagyu NY Strip Loin. They come pre-cut and provide you with tweezers to eat. My mouth is watering writing this as i think about that ounce of meat. WOW. The flavor was through the roof. It was cooked to perfection and wow. I have no real words to describe it. It's definitely worth the price tag. We got it as an appetizer and each had an ounce strip. Next time, we're saving our money to get more of this. Yes, it's pricey but definitely worth it. Now the rest of the steaks - I got the petite filet mignon - it was cooked to perfection. Outside was crispy in all the right places and the inside was *chefs kiss* perfect. Husband got the ribeye (i can't recall exactly which one) - he said it was amazing! His plate was cleaned up when he was done. For sides we got the papas bravas and the Brussel sprouts. Solid choices and they were both flavorful. There's some sort of flavor on the potatoes that i couldn't put my finger on but it was my favorite. Overall, an amazing experience. We left with full bellies and the Wagyu on our mind for next time. If i could have done anything different, it would have been to have the Wagyu come after the steaks. This place has been on my list for a while. I normally hit the Blacksmith, it always delivers. This place hit a home run. I ate alone at the bar. Their Weller old fashioned is legit. I loved everything about this place; and I am picky. Popover bread was great; I had the pressed Caesar with anchovies. It was excellent and big enough that you could share. I had a dry aged NY steak; a Holstein steak!?!?! It was excellent and definitely had its own flavor, a nutty, buttery, grassy flavor. So good. And with the mashed potatoes--they were perfect. For dessert, a house made chocolate/peanut butter ice cream. It was like crack in a bowl. The service of the bartender, I should have grabbed his name, was first rate. Bos Taurus was probably my best dining experience in Bend. It stands right up there with the highest and steak house I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. The wine list is like no other in Bend, and at prices they should be at the more expensive steakhouses in Las Vegas. I saw a bottle of nickel & nickel Cabernet for $165. Any nickel & nickel in Las Vegas would run you at least $200. So after a week of filling my belly with excellent craft beer, I was thirsty for some really great wine and steak! I mean what better way to treat yourself after a long hard day on the slopes right? I was really tempted to get the A5 Japanese Wagyu. At $29 per ounce, that would have been a really special treat. On most days I would have done this, but I was so hungry from skiing all day, I felt like I needed something around 10 oz. I settled on the Australian wagyu special rotating steak, the wedge salad, a bottle of amazing Walla Walla figgins Wine, and of course dessert with a Tawny port. As a solo Diner I sat at the bar and my experience was wonderful. The bartender, Kip, was just as informative and service-oriented as any server would have been. You get your pick of high-end steak knives, which I digressed to Kip to choose for me. He picked the Japanese steak knife... Obviously the superior one haha. My dinner was timed perfectly, my salad was outstanding and could have been a meal on its own, but ended up pairing perfectly with my wagyu. Here's the thing about the steaks: they cook them on a one-of-a-kind special made cast iron skillet. They then use the rendered fat from the A5 wagyu steaks to sear the other steaks in it. So basically you're getting steak on steak on steak. wagyu on wagyu on waygu! The Char / Seer on that steak was unbelievable! And you know I could not resist adding a truffle butter palette to the top of it, which made it just that much more decadent! For dessert I thought about getting the donuts, or the tableside ice cream... But I can get those at home. I went for the buttermilk pie which was so different and amazing I was not disappointed. There is a rosemary foam, pear done three different ways, and the most decadent buttermilk pie and ice cream you've ever had! That's how insanely good both the food and service is at Bos Taurus! (Todd is the man) This is now, by far, our favorite restaurant in Bend and very possibly our favorite restaurant anywhere. One word: WOW. From the moment we walked in, we were blown away! As soon as we said our name on the reservation, we were greeted with warm and sincere, "Happy Anniversary!!!" from the host and hostess. They didn't miss a beat and that set the tone for the remainder of the evening. We were seated upstairs, where we found an anniversary card from the staff and were promptly greeted with not only another, "Happy anniversary!" from our incredible server, Eli, but also two glasses of champagne, compliments of the house. We were utterly blown away. The popovers were a sensory experience on their own - crusty outer, soft flaky interior, sweetened butter that was perfectly balanced by volcanic salt. They were divine and had me doing a happy dance. Literally and shamelessly. I ordered the French 75, which was not too sweet or overly bubbly. Just a smooth, citrous delight. A perfect celebratory cocktail for our special night. Eli was exceedingly knowledgeable, and it showed. He spoke of the main event - the steak - with true passion and expertise. Now, I planned to order the petite filet mignon, but they were sold out (a rare occurrence, according to Eli). So, after a brief hesitation, I went for 2oz of Miyazaki A5 Wagyu. Nothing else. My other half ordered the Cedar River Ribeye with brussel sprouts. After we ordered, Eli returned with a special box of steak knives. He explained the balance and precision of each variety and we were allowed to pick our own. I almost felt as if we were in Diagon Alley at Ollivanders. Wand Shop. Something about selecting our own specialty blade to carve our steaks felt so special and important. It was a super unique, special touch that I thoroughly enjoyed. The knife I selectedd was imported and had the Craters of the Moon carved into the blade. So unique and cool. I was already on cloud nine by the time our meal arrived Everything was out of this world. The Ribeye was perfectly prepared a medium-rare. It didn't need a thing. It was flavorful all on its own and was quickly and enjoyably devoured. The brussel sprouts were a knockout. They came in a small cast iron dish and was plenty to share between us both. They were crispy and packed with flavor and spice. I couldn't stop eating them and would return just for those alone. That yummy. The Wagyu. How can I even describe it? It was so tender and luxurious - akin to butter melting on the tongue in terms of texture as well as richness. The flavor was indescribably wonderful. The slices were served on a cutting board with special tweezers that were the ideal tool to grab the thin slices and deliver to my happy, happy mouth. I savored every single bite. To anyone watching, all the moaning and eye fluttering probably looked X-rated, but I cared not. Please note: the 2oz was plenty of food for me, personally, but someone with a larger appetite may require a side dish to accompany it. Last, but not least, we enjoyed the made-to-order ice cream. The Chef's flavor of the night was White Chocolate with a sesame crisp. I also ordered coffee on the side, which (naturally) was French Pressed table-side and oh-so-smootb. How have I lived my life eating mediocre ice cream? All future ice cream will pale in comparison, but it was totally worth ruining ice cream forever for. To too it all off, my husband surprised me with an anniversary band to add to my wedding ring! I had my favorite meal of the year here about a month ago. Then the experience was surpassed by my dinner last evening. It is that good. Bos Taurus is a 'special occasion' kind of restaurant for serious carnivores, but during my first meal, I actually bypassed the choice cuts of beef and started with the Baby Beet salad and followed it with the Line Caught Washington Halibut entrée from the 'Not Steak' menu. I decided that even though those items were spectacular, steak is at the heart of this restaurant, so my party grew from two to four and we tried more items on the menu. For libations, I focus on the cocktail menu and have enjoyed both the Bend Bee's Knees and the Black Rose. While you are waiting for your appetizers and starters to arrive, they go the extra mile with these wonderful oversized popovers with salted butter. This time around I chose the soup of the moment which was a chilled watermelon bisque with a spicy finish served tableside. Out of this world. My dining companions chose the beet salad, which was just as beautifully plated as I remembered, and the Compressed Caesar salad. I loved our server's description that the chef is committed to serving the highest quality of steak cooked to perfection, but he gets to explore his creative side with the appetizers and starters. It shows and at both my meals, everything came together as a perfect blend of creativity and execution. Not at all surprised that Chef George won the Top Chef Bend award this year. The cuts of meat are out of this world and run the gamut from four farms in the U.S. (AZ, CO, IL, and OR), as well as imported A5 Wagyu beef from Japan (one of only 30 restaurants in the U.S. to serve it), as well as New Zealand. And for those diners, you get to choose your knife from the knife box with choices from Japan and France. Steaks are served a la carte, so you also have your choice of sides to order. The White Truffle Pom Frites is a large serving and three of us shared the Yukon Gold Potato Puree with chives and the Crispy Brussels Sprouts with some left over. Those sprouts may have been my favorite item on the menu. On both occasions, I sat at a table in the upstairs dining area and had the same server, Jen. She knows the menu inside and out and offered great descriptions and recommendations. It is like having a tour guide on a most excellent beef adventure. There are two tables out front and a few bar stools inside with a small number of booths and tables. The décor is modern and spare with some interesting touches. I wish I could dine here on every trip to Bend, but it is both a special and a spendy experience. My teen son is a filet snob, so he loves Bos Taurus, but it isn't a place I would bring younger diners, although they do have two types of Mac & Cheese on the menu (one of which has kids' flavors). What a magnificent experience! Great hidden gem in Bend, Oregon! I love my steaks and I would compare this restaurant to the finest places I have eaten at! The menu may be limited but the taste is abundant! They have the highest quality of meat and are a true Steak place! If you love meat, you've got to check this place out! There were four on our table, each one of us ordered a different steak and each one of us thought we got the best and loved what we ordered. Not a single compliant. Unfortunately, that seems to have changed in the last six months. There was no what are you celebrating, here is my favorite dish, or even the basic I noticed you're drink is low would you like another... it's a bit of a bummer because there are only a handful of restaurants like this in Bend. Steak cooked perfectly, cut to share, served on a wooden board. Choose your own steak knife; such a unique touch. Innovation a plenty (the pork in brussel sprouts have had most of fat rendered off and they melt in your mouth). Staff are awesome; attentive, accommodating, and engaged. Literally the best food I've ever eaten, and it was a fantastic experience overall. We sat at the bar, which I was bummed about at first, then quickly realized it was the best seat in the house. We got to watch Sean the bartender work his magic on our drinks behind the bar, while also getting a front row seat to watch the head chef/owner dazzle us in the kitchen. He even came up and talked to us and offered to surprise us with one of our orders, and his off-the-menu twist was outstanding! We had been trying to dine here for over a year. With COVID delays and trip cancellations, we finally got here last week. The place was a bit hard to spot as they have a super low-key exterior with minimal branding. Upon entering, we were pleasantly greeted and taken to our reserved seating. The staff was very attentive and described their offerings with detail. The "Som" (sommelier) was on point and helped us choose a compatible wine to go with our order. This restaurant is known for their variety of amazing steaks and A5 Wagyu beef. After our start with a dozen raw oysters, we moved on to salads (a very delish' wedge) and then progressed through a couple steak courses. The A5 Wagyu tenderloin (priced by the ounce and eaten seared with tweezers) was out of this world. It was something to be savored and quite spendy for a small morsel. Then came a tasty ribeye from a hybrid beef breed out of Australia. This steak was very rich, juicy and flavorful. A couple points I'll mention though is it was on the salty side and there were a few inedible bites of gristle. To me, a steak with a high price point, should really be perfect. As you can see we thoroughly ejoyed this beautiful dining experience! We ate here while visiting Bend and will be coming back anytime we're in town! The foie gras wontons were unique and unlike anything we have had before - highly recommend. The lamb neck small plate was also beautifully presenting and great tasting. We think they use Sichuan Peppercorn; our tongues were a bit numb after eating this dish but would still recommend. We had two steaks and both were really well cooked with great crusts. For dessert we got the crème brûlée and kinda like peach cobbler. The kinda like peach cobbler is the only thing we wouldn't order again but we can't stress how amazing everything was. It ended up being better than sitting at a private table as we really got the best service possible from Max. Seems like everyone knows him by name. I would absolutely recommend anyone trying by this place to sit at the bar because Max will navigate you through the menu. The cocktails are fun and the food is top tier. Starters we ordered: 7 oysters on the half shell, bone marrow fried rice, and the steak tartare. Wow. This was our first visit to Bend, it was Saturday night on a holiday weekend, and we were looking for a place with good steak. We were attracted to the chic yet comfortable environment. Karma was good to us, because a sidewalk table opened up just as we arrived without reservations. The host was exceedingly kind in accommodating us, and helped me select a perfect wine to sip while waiting briefly for our table to be reset. We had the fortune to be served by Bethany, who was charming, knowledgeable and efficient. Which was good, because we were amazed by the menu. I love a place who takes its beef seriously, yet does so in a manner that is comfortable for those of us not as experienced with seriously curated beef. After much discussion I opted for the wedge salad and Wagyu Bazette from Australia. Wow, just wow. Perfectly charred, perfectly seasoned, perfectly cooked. My husband chose the Caesar salad with real anchovies and the Arizona Ribeye. Quite delicious, but a bit more fat than he was expecting. His hibiscus margarita was amazing. With the creamed corn side dish, and beautiful popovers, we were too full for dessert. A visit from the executive chef was a delight- getting the opportunity to learn more about this amazing restaurant and the food. My partner and I visited Bos for a recent special occasion. We were so excited to eat dinner here based off our previous experience and how it had blown our minds. While we will had a nice time, I felt like the overall experience had diminished since the previous visit. Our first impression was the unfortunate table we were seated at. Adjacent to a service door, this 4 top just felt in the way. The waiters had to shimmy around us and we caught awkward eye contact by every person walking up and down the stairs. Even more of a bummer that a quaint 2 top, away from the hustle, sat empty the entire time we were dining. The quality of the food was high and execution was good, but the creativity was lacking. What Bos had offered on our first visit was something so different from what is available in Bend, it was remarkable. Though they still offer quality cuts of beef, cooked the right way, the overall experience of the meal, from appetizers to entree was underwhelming. I hope they haven't lost their willingness to be inventive, and a bit daring compared to other local restaurants. Our waiter was fine as well. But didn't bring the same level of enthusiasm or pride as our first visit. It just felt routine. On our first visit, the reservation site asked if we were celebrating something, and upon arrival we had glasses of champagne waiting. That was such a thoughtful and unique touch. It was disappointing to see they no longer take that extra step for exceptional service. I usually don't write reviews when restaurants are "fine", but felt inclined because I know this place has all the bones to be "blow your mind, good". I just hope they haven't gotten complacent. What a treat! My partner and I are picky, I admit it! Way too often we are disappointed when we go out but not tonight! I started with an Old Fashioned, perfect. Appetizers were oysters and crab toast. The oysters were sublime, perfectly icy cold with salt, spice and acid that made me want to come back next week and eat a dozen. Crab toast served with aioli nice and spicy, serving size just right. For dinner I had the scallops, my partner had rib eye, wine suggestion from the sommelier was great. We visited Los Taurus back in may 2023, there was 4 of us, I took out some clients for a good dinner, the food was ok but very salty, I told our waiter Eli M, it is too salty, his response was that is how we prepare our Cedar River NYS , The ambiance is ok, but they try to hard to be high end, I got tired of hearing here at Los Taurus we ........., they bring these knifes and tell you a story for 10 min, Please just bring good food, good service and let us decide on the rest. I hope they will relax it a bit, I don't care about price even though it is in higher end, they charged us $5 per each little sauce $30 later and the sauces were not even all that. Very happy that we decided to celebrate my birthday here. Key to the memorable experience includes our waitstaff and food, presentation and execution. The choice of knives were so cool tool. VERY DISAPPOINTED. The world is really crazy right now, there is no room for pretentious behaviors from restaurants staff and managers. I have dined at this restaurant once before and loved it. I was so excited to try it again I invited friends for my birthday. I made reservations 1 week in advance. We were called by the restaurant about 1.5 hours before our reservation to see if we wanted to come early which was very nice. We rushed to the restaurant and were seated immediately. After ordering drinks we ordered our steaks if you have ever been to Bos you know the menu is pricy, steaks are $30 for 2 oz. Our guests asked for a rare steak and proceeded to ask if the waitress could ask the chef to make sure it's really rare. The waitress said there is not a button on her computer for that request. My guest said well can you please just ask the chef? Apparently that was the wrong thing to ask or say. The manager came over and said DO NOT TALK TO MY WAIT STAFF THAT WAY. We all looked at each other shocked. We all apologize and said it was not meant to be rude. The manager kept insisting we were rude. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. In all my years as a waitress and restaurant manager I have never experience anything like this situation. My birthday dinner was ruined for apparently asking to have my steak cooked properly. We left the restaurant embarrassed and baffled. Business must be so good at Bos Taurus that they can afford to throw people out because there "isn't a button" for extra rare steak. I am still shaking my head wondering WTH. Bos Taurus is on my no return list. read more

This is a decent steakhouse, but it has some areas for improvement. I give it a 3-star rating for its good food, but not exceptional, and its upscale atmosphere. While the steak and sides are well-prepared, they are somewhat pricey and may not be worth the high cost to some. I was sitting upstairs. The staff were drinking wine upstairs at the bar. Although I know this is common in the F&B world, don't let guests that are paying $200 each see you drinking on the job. read more

This was the best dinner we have ever had. From the moment we were greeted as we walked into the restaurant to the superb service we received, we were blown away. We were entertained watching the details that went into making our cocktails, picking your knife out for our steak, which all added to the amazing experience. We will be definitely coming back. read more

Hands down the best meal I had in Bend. I really liked the option to choose my own steak knife :) We started with the foie gras app. I freaking love foie gras and their rhubarb/strawberry accompaniment was a home run. Cool presentation too! The caesar was meh but the real story here is the steaks. The cast iron cooking result in a crust so crispy that each bite came with an extremely satisfying crunch. The sides were very decadent and rich but hey - it's not every day I eat steak. The mac and cheese was lovely and the cheese sauce was fancy. The braised mushrooms went along with the steak perfectly. Only regret is not getting any dessert :( read more
