You'll never find this place unless you go really looking for it. Go to the rough neighborhood and if the area keeps getting rougher, you're going in the right direction. Once you find it, don't let the outside scare you away. Friendly folks await within, and IMO the BEST Calzones in the valley. Almost let the outside of the place chase is away..... boy would that have been a big mistake. As soon as you walk in, there is a bar. The bar was filled with locals however, most were friendly and said hello as we walked past. The seating area is small, but quaint. You felt like you were at your old uncle Nino's house. The Wait staff were friendly and courteous, but more importantly, the food was fantastic. Coming from an Italian girl who makes her own sauce, their sauce was a work of art! Boscos is my family's go to restaurant for calzones and eggplant parmesan. You can't go wrong! A true gem for Amsterdam NY! Whether it's for pick up or dine in, the food is always 5 stars. A++ The restaurant is what I consider, a pillar, of the Amsterdam community. They give you delicious food, excellent service, and humongous portions! If you're ever around the area, and you have only one option, get their pepperoni calzone with riccota cheese. You will absolutely love it. My father and I have eaten here countless times, and it's always been a pleasure. The restaurant may not look all that visually appealing, on the outside or the inside. I am back in NY hometown visiting and I wanted my first meal back to be at Boscos. My family and I order the Jalapeño poppers, mushroom poppers, and broccoli poppers as our appetizers. They were piping hot and delicious! For my meal I ordered one of their calzones which I am able to have two more meals out of due to their generous portion. The atmosphere in the dining area is family friendly which is a feeling that you get from the staff. If you are passing through Amsterdam I highly recommend that you stop have a meal! read more

When you go to an Italian restaurant for the first time you should order . . . spaghetti and meatballs. And if it is not one of the best things you have ever eaten, you should pay the check but leave never to return. Tonight we went to Bosco's. Wow, simply wow. Their red sauce is fantastic. My wife had the baked fish and could not stop raving over it. Their home made Italian Bread is also really really good. Great flavor. Yes, it could be a bit crustier, but it was better than anything I have had south of the Mason-Dixon Line. We plan to return, Lord willing. read more

Came across this old neighborhood joint unintentionally. Our usual go-to in Amsterdam was closed last time we were passing through at mealtime. Found this place on yelp. On a back street in a beat neighborhood (this IS Amsterdam, right) the sort of place you'd never find because you'd never deliberately drive through a slum neighborhood on purpose. But let me tell you, Bosco's is the REAL DEAL. Far and away the best calzone I've ever had. Pretty good antipasto. Excellent food, good sized portions, good prices. Service was fair, not great. Authentic old-time neighborhood joint atmosphere and vibe. They were fairly busy and all the neighboring tables also seemed to be enjoying their meal as much as we were. Looking forward to returning. Super embarrassing experience where we brought some family in from 3000 miles away to have "good Italian American food" and were treated rudely and given sub par food as well. First, we apparently came in with too many people and were told we needed a reservation. We waited about 5 minutes and were told "they fit us." It would've probably have been better if they had just told us to leave because they were too busy and we would've gone elsewhere. We sat in the entirely empty overflow dining room for 1.5 hours until my toddler eventually completely melted down because she was so hungry - which has never happened before in Amsterdam. Read: never. The waitress didn't come around much to fill our drinks which was a shame. I was just about to take her home when our calzones arrived. My calzone was ... fine. But my one of my in-law's calzones was basically just mozzarella and inedible to her. No one was really impressed. Everyone including another couple who had "sung the praises" of Bosco's was really put off. Anyway, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon, and I'm still really annoyed. Bosco's does realize that we are paying them to come into their restaurant and not the other way around, right? read more

Friendly staff and great little local spot for drinks and Italian bar food. We had a few of the calzones, they were good. The dough was light and fluffy and the insides loaded with cheese. Food is solid and the beer was cold. But the time it took to have a meal and get the service was crazy. It was seriously ten minutes before we got a drink order. They said when we were being seated "to bear with them" a couple times and I didn't think anything of it until we seriously waited 45 mins for an order of mozz sticks and a salad as our apps. Thanks to Yelp we stumbled on this little treasure in Amsterdam for a late dinner on a saturday night. It was about 7:30 when we got there and everyone was stacked up at the bar. We parked in the lot across the street, and came in via the front door into the bar, not realising that there is a nice little side door for the dining area and for take out. The restaurant part was pretty much abandoned and there was someone sweeping up when we got there. It's bigger than you'd expect from the outside. There's a woodstove in there! I asked if the kitchen was still serving and was assured that they were. We were quickly seated with menus and our drink orders were taken. Seems like most of the drink available is fountain sodas. We ordered the Pesto pizza (Which only comes as a 6 cut), some mozzarella sticks (Thick cut and fried a dark brown. So good.) and an order of medium wings. Everything was delicious. The wings were perfect. The spice is much stronger than what MOST places call hot. (Perfect for me... My 11 year old was chugging water and lemonade, but even tho it was hot for him, he still said that they had great flavor.) The help was wonderful. Helpful and patient. You would never find this spot on your own as it is on a local street. Further even if you did drive by the outside is non descript. Inside it is a humming, friendly spot. The food is so good. Did I mention the $2 drafts of Genny, $2.50 for Blue Moon served up while blasting a mix of Lil' Wayne and Alan Jackson at the bar? Some might find such a mix overwhelming, others, like myself, wish more radio stations/bars played hip hop country fusion. We found this place on yelp as we were looking for a restaurant on our way back home from Albany to Syracuse. There were only 3 reviews but they seemed good. Initial impressions were tough, as this place is in an old house style building that appeared run down. Without Yelp, we wouldn't have even gone in. They had just opened at 3pm, we were there just before 4. There was one server who was friendly and took our order. The food was good, I had a Calzone as that is what the advertising says they are known for and my wife had a hot roast beef sandwich which was made from leftover prime rib. We both had ice tea. When the check arrived it was $31.00 and I was surprised to see that we paid for 5 glasses of ice tea. We were never told that they didn't refill for free and that every 16 oz glass of regular ice tea was $2.25 I asked the server and she just said, ya we don't do free refills. You can get a pint of draft beer here for the same price and I think it's ridiculous that they charge for refills on tea and that we were not informed even when she kept coming back asking if we needed more tea! We paid the bill and left. Wasn't worth the trip off the highway and we will never be back. read more

Bosco's is a neighborhood bar & restaurant where many regulars hang out on the bar, everybody including staff and people are welcoming. The place has another side of the bar, get your friends and hangout here. Also Bosco's have large selection of American and Italian food, the quality is above your average bar food and the serving sizes are extravagant, I don't even know how they make money, their prices are very affordable. Stopped here based on good yelp reviews as we were traveling from Rochester to Kingston. Perfect stop. Food was plentiful and delicious. I had the lasagne and my husband the baked cod. We dont usually get dessert when we eat out but they had peanut butter pie and you just cant pass that up. Large serving of that too. More than enough for us to share. Would definitely return. This resturant is great mom and dad go here just about every Friday with our friends josh and Bonnie and Scott and Jane and as always dad asks for molly to be our waitress and she is a great waitress the food is always good and we always take my Jeep commander so that mom and dad can have a few drinks and not have to drive and end up getting dwi but never the less the food is great we will continue to go here ask for molly as your waitress. read more

I rate this as four stars because I love the food. The ambience is lackluster. I wear a jacket because I assume it will be a bit chilly as it usually is. The service is a bit on the slow side, however I feel it is always worth the wait. The lasagna is sinfully delicious. The soup is something we usually pass on after a few that we felt were less than stellar. read more
