Wow! My latest meal here was a 6 out of 5. Friendly, attentive service throughout the evening. We began with the seafood salad...a delicious mix of tender squid, scungilli, octopus, and shrimp over lightly dressed arugula. It was a beautiful portion and paired perfectly with their warm focaccia and garlic infused olive oil. Then came the complimentary salads before the best grilled lamb chops entrée I've had in years. Outstanding. A full rack of tender, flavorful, juicy baby rib chops served with broccoli rabe and roasted potatoes. OMG. While devouring this meal, I was a bit without words. Did I mention it was a full rack?! We also enjoyed a bottle of their house Cabernet with dinner. Very smooth and a solid table wine for the price. It paired beautifully with the lamb, and the other entree we got...homemade fresh pasta with short rib ragu. this place is JUST ok. I didn't even know it was there until I saw it on yelp and decided to check it out. ambiance is...different. it's recently renovated and everything is in shades of black and white. it lacks the cozy comfy atmosphere of an Italian restaurant. the environment feels a bit sterile. a few of the tables are plastic folding tables covered in table clothes. chairs are mismatched but cleverly covered to make them all look the same. food was just ok. portions were HUGE. i literally carryed a giant bag of leftovers of out the place. i can eat....and i couldn't believe the size of these dishes. drinks were delicious! staff was super friendly but the food came out a bit slow. the experience was overall average and I'm not sure if I would go back. read more

Interesting decor with a clubbish lounge vibe yet with a family setting? Not quite sure what they were aiming for honestly haha BUT the food was amazing! Pizza crust was one of the best I've had. Moneybag pasta was on the heavier side with the cheese and sauce so make sure to share this dish. Fried burrata was good but not good enough to get again-- you would love if you are arugula and balsamic fan. Steak and broccoli were good but the potatoes it came with felt unnecessary. Excellent! My wife and I just loved to the area and were looking for a good neighborhood Italian place. Bosfa blew us away! From the stuffed Zucchini flower appetizer to my shrimp and scallop entree to my wife's gnocchi entree, everything was fresh and well made. The place is one large dining room and nicely appointed. Was introduced yesterday to Bosfa for my mothers birthday. I was disappointed to have not heard of this place sooner, having lived close by in Rivervale for some time. Absolutely planning on coming back and introducing more family and friends alike. Definitely on the higher end process-wise, but you're paying for what you get. Fantastic service, family decorum and elegant ambiance, and of course, the amazing food. I loved literally anything that was brought to the table. Started off the meal, then Calamari Fritti (the best I ever had). The Calamari was tender, lightly breaded with a red sauce that was just like nonna's! For an incredible pasta dish treat yourself to Sacchetti Alla Bozcaiola it's little pasta satchels with cheese in a mushroom prosciutto cream sauce. I have also called several times without a response. I understand if you've decided to move in another direction, but I would have appreciated the courtesy of an update. We went to Bosfa last night and everything was superb! We asked for mussels fri Diablo for an appetizer which was not on the menu - and they made them special for us - which was delicious! The bread is amazing! Our entree was a special - spaghetti in a light cream sauce with colossal shrimp and crispy pancetta - it was piled high with saffron. What a fantastic dish! We finished our meal by going to the gelato bar and sampled several delicious choices before choosing two. We tried Bosfa for the first time on Monday 12/22/25 when other businesses are closed. Food was good! We had Veal Parm and the Bolonaise. Took food home so portions were generous. Service ok but only one waiter/bar Man for the whole place with a bus person. Holiday decorations make the atmosphere cheerier. We will be back and try other dishes. Decent Italian restaurant with a full bar, very attentive staff, and creative specials. We had the Fried Zucchini Flower appetizer special, which was rich and delicious. I had the Lobster (and Seafood) Fettuccine entree. It was a bit salty and I think the artichokes were pre-marinated, so they had a hefty burst of salt in each bite as well. But the seafood was cooked nicely. I wish I'd have known it was langostino lobster or I probably would've gotten the Pappardelle Bolognese instead. (I'm just not a big fan of langostino's taste or texture, but there wasn't a ton of it.) My wife had the Fettuccine Carbonara. It was a bit saltier than mine. The guanciale (she thought it was more like breakfast bacon; possibly why it was saltier?) could've been crisped up a bit more. The fettuccine noodles in both dishes were very tender and tasted fresh. For cocktails, she had a Lychee Martini and I had an Old Fashioned. Her martini was "very floral," but for me it bordered on "fancy hand soap" flavors. My Old Fashioned was a bit busy with lots of muddled cherries. Like, a LOT of muddled cherries. I think a traditional Old Fashioned only has orange peel or maybe half an orange slice, and maybe one whole, uncrushed cherry. This was edging into fruity-blender-drink territory. We each had a nice glass of wine with dinner. The atmosphere was somewhere between "sports bar" and "upscale strip mall eatery." All in all, it was a bit of a hike for us to get there, so we probably won't return any time soon, but we could tell it was a preferred neighborhood spot. (There was a family celebrating the dad's birthday.) And there were a lot of items on the regular menu that looked really appetizing. I wish them luck! read more

My family had been raving to me about their experiences dining at Bosfa, so, on my recent trip to see them, they recommended that we try ordering takeout from there. While everything was still tasty, it was a bit cold by the time we brought it back to their home, so we agreed that we would dine there next time. From what I could tell from the few moments that I spent inside the restaurant and on the phone with the staff to place our order, I will say that both the team and the space itself were casual, warm, and welcoming. The kitchen even included some fluffy, fresh bread and seasoned olive oil with our selections. In terms of the food we tried: Shared Plates: 1.) 12" Vegetariana Pizza topped with fresh mozzarella, eggplant, zucchini, and roasted peppers - I was bummed that I had missed that this was a white pie, as I prefer my pizza with sauce, but it was still excellent! The vegetables were fresh and succulent, and the thin crust was chewy and crunchy in all the right places. Note that they offer their pizzas in 12" and 18". 2.) Paccheri Short Rib Ragu, a special for the night - The large, tubular pasta was PERFECTLY cooked, and the sauce was packed with chunks of tender short rib. It was a very different flavor from a typical ground beef bolognese, but in a special and tasty way. Entrees: 1.) Chicken Alla Toscana, which was grilled chicken served with broccoli rabe - The 2 breasts were pounded thin, which I liked, but there were also some chewy pieces. In addition, the chicken had a strong charcoal taste. The broccoli was tossed with fresh garlic and cooked well. 2.) Chicken Marsala - I sampled a bite of this and liked it, but I found the sauce watery and thin. 3.) Veal Parmigiana - I also tried a bite of this and thought it was excellent. The mozzarella cheese that was used was particularly enjoyable. *All of the entrees were supposed to come with side salads, however we only saw 2 (not 3) when we arrived home. The side salads consisted of mixed greens, a half a cherry tomato, some shredded carrot, and raw red onion rings. I definitely enjoyed Bosfa enough to try it again, but I would take the advice of my family and dine-in next time. read more

Prefer to give 4.5 but unable to do so. , no 5 cuz no ones pefect.... only preference was that some entrees are onky the protein... i.e. my chicken marsala was that only ...... pasta was extra but not expensive, so no biggy, and enough to share with my 7-year-old daughter. Calamari did not have a 'fridge' flavor, very good crisp and not oily. OCTOPUS, just the right crisp/broil... Service: on point, did not come often but came often enough; did not feel like my family(of 4) was being rushed. Bosfa Review Initially this review was only going to be about how good the food was. And how the service was great and the staff was very attentive. I was going to address that the restaurant had gone through a renovation and it looks even better than it did before. I wanted to praise how I had such a wonderful experience and I'm looking forward to coming back soon. But I can't. I can't because I had gone back this time to enjoy the food but was confronted by a situation that could have been handled much differently. My family and I arrived at the restaurant and were greeted by a waiter who kindly offered us to seat anywhere we felt comfortable. We chose our table and began to settle in. As we were looking through the menu my son who is two and a half years old decides he wanted to go towards a couch that the restaurant had sitting in a small corner. Our table happens to be right in front of the couch/sofa. I was too busy trying to order food for the family but with my dad peripherals I did see my son try to climb the sofa and my six year old daughter right next to him. My son was not even five seconds on the sofa and a gentleman approached us to say that the sofa is meant to take photos with and not for kids to climb on. He was afraid that the sofa will get damaged because my son had his shoes on. I proceeded to tell my son not to go near the sofa and he remained at the table the rest of the time. Here's my thing. I get it if my son got on the sofa and started jumping on it, possibly damaging it or making a scene and causing a commotion for people in the establishment to be disturbed, but he didn't even make a sound nor was he on the sofa long enough to even scratch it. He was just getting on the sofa like any other child would. My son is barely thirty pounds. At most, any kind of damage could have been removed by a simple wet wipe. And it wasn't even like we came into the restaurant from a rainy day or we were coming from a muddy hike in the woods. From that point on I couldn't even enjoy my evening because it was ruined. The worst part is I find out that the gentleman who had addressed the issue with my son was one of the owners of the restaurant. I've been in and around the restaurant industry for over twenty years. I'm a huge foodie and love the restaurant scene. I have never made an issue with a child because they are not to blame. Unless of course if they are running around the restaurant like it's a playground and disturbing other paying guests then I will kindly address the issue because there are hot dishes/soups being brought out by the servers. I wouldn't want them getting hurt. They are just being kids. And being that I'm a parent myself I know that if the parent doesn't take the initiative to discipline their child, then you can step in if you must. But in this case I wasn't even given the chance because there wasn't an issue that needed to be dealt with yet. I even said to him that he should place a sign saying that kids should not stand on the sofa or even go on it if that's the case. He replied to me that he could not do that (obviously because then it would no longer be considered a "family restaurant"). He was unapologetic and reacted with a sense of, "This is my place, who are you to tell me what I can or cannot do" attitude. He then brushed me off as he walked back towards the kitchen after a limp handshake to end the conversation. I'm not saying I won't be going back to this restaurant because of my experience this time around. The food was fantastic, the staff there are always nice, and the recent renovations are a good touch. But I feel that the owner of this establishment needs to do better. And to be clear, I waited till my family was done with our meal, paid the bill, and left a twenty percent tip like I always do before speaking to the owner Francesco because I didn't want to ruin their evening as well. Definitely wasn't looking for a free meal as that was not the problem. The one star review is NOT for the restaurant, but for the owner. Long rant over. read more

We just ate at Bofsa in Old Tappan and had a wonderful experience! We were celebrating my granddaughters Baprism and we were a party of 9. The food was exceptional and the service was incredible! The staff were all so nice and they went above and beyond making sure that any food allergies were carefully taken care of. I had eaten there before and was always pleased which is why I recommended it to my son when he wanted to do a small dinner after the Christening. Every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I stopped by recently for a quick bite-in/takeout and my experience was a bit of a mix. First, the space is ... sort of nice, kind of open and airy but also lacking that "sense of place" overall in that it was neither that cozy/homey vibe nor that polished/chic vibe. It felt a bit disjointed in decor overall. The gentleman that hosted was nice enough to let me "take a bite" at the bar because I was just too hungry to wait 25 min to get to my home. I ordered their Capricciosa pizza and Baked Clams appetizer. I found the pizza to be pretty good, and even their crust wasn't rock-hard like some of those other pizzerias. The bread with olive oil dip that they gave was also a nice touch and delicious. However, the clams really disappointed - there was SO MUCH BREADING that I literally had to try to "fish" for clam meat to ascertain that it's even there. I did eventually find it but they were woefully tiny compared to the shell size and just dwarfed by the amount of super salty breading caked on top. I do NOT recommend it. My wife back at home commented after eating 1 tiny bite, "wow, that is so salty and it's all breading" and stopped eating it half way. I begrudgingly finished it with their bread the next day only because I didn't want to waste food. So it wasn't the best experience but perhaps I just ordered the wrong app. Might try again because their pizza for the most part, delivered. read more

Coming from an Italian family, I have always looked for classy restaurants that not just look nice and clean but can cook authentic Italian food. Staff is friendly and very polite and very respectful. The cooking reminds me of Italy, after my 3rd time eating here I've noticed no quality changes in the food. This is the second time we've eaten at Bosfa. The food has consistently been very good, and the service prompt. My only complaint is they need a better bartender. Our first visit was at lunch and the glass of chardonnay was poured from an old bottle that lacked it's usual flavor and zest; on the second visit, last night, I had a strawberry margarita that was served in an adorable garnished glass but tasted like something I'd get at a college dorm party. Simple, elegant and so very tasty! My wife had a seafood dish called Rigatoni D'Avinci, she loved it and said it was rife with crab and shrimp! Food was great, service is a little slow since they are pretty busy. I made a reservation for my family and it still took a while to seat us. They were pretty slow in getting our orders in since they are accommodating both indoor dining and outdoor tent seating, but I recommend the food highly especially for north Jersey.
