The one star review is because of a fly we discovered in our oil dish for the bread! When we brought it to the attention of the waitress she took the plate away without even an apology . Seldom have I entered a restaurant after the beginning of the COVID pandemic and found an improvement. Just the opposite. Only found one other that kept it's quality as high as before. The three of us had very high quality seafood and pasta entrees. The beet salad was perfectly balanced and flavorful. The waitstaff was very professional. We hosted a 100th birthday party for my mom on Sunday, October 22. Approximately 25 people were in attendance. I cannot tell you how wonderful the owners (Linda and Armando) and staff were in meeting our needs, how delicious the food was, and how great the service was. Because we live out of town, we did not have much information at our disposal when attempting to choose a venue for this party. Yet, we could not have made a better choice. Many in our party have reached out to us to tell us what a great job the restaurant did and how wonderful the food was. We called ahead to make reservations, but learned they only take reservations for 6 or more. Upon arriving several tables were being cleared, and my party of 4 had what seemed like a long 15 min wait. We were sat in the corner closest to the kitchen. It seems as though, they try to accommodate as many patrons as possible in the small confines of their establishment. We requested Victoria as our server. She's amazing! Had great knowledge of the menu, and specials. Her bubbly personality, made our dinner service excellent. Armando's is a byo establishment, and we came prepared with bottles of wine, which she was more than happy to serve us. The meal I ordered, Gorgonzola Chicken; as mentioned on Yelp, was off of the menu, and fantastic! Everyone in my party was more than satisfied with their choices, with the exception of the crème brûlée which could've set a little longer. I showed up very hungry to this restaurant and luckily there was a table outside that was open. We were told immediately by the person who brought us the bread that the server was "doing desserts" with a table inside and that it would be a few minutes. When our server arrived, we asked a question about the menu. He said he would go and ask. He went inside and came out about 3 times and never once acknowledged us. Finally he came back with an answer. We ordered soups. From the time we sat down, it took 45 minutes to receive the soups. That is just unacceptable. Also, we asked for olive oil for our bread and we were told that olive oil is not allowed outside. We were not given any explanation. The bread was really dry, so not having the olive oil made it basically inedible. When the server brought the soups (pea soups, which were delicious), I mentioned to please bring the entrees as soon as they are ready. The server said the kitchen just received 4 take out orders that came in simultaneously, so it may be a while. Meanwhile, the restaurant inside/outside was mostly empty. I guess take out is prioritized over people who dine in? The sole tasted good for the most part. I asked for "light sauce." The server said the only thing he could request was "no extra sauce." My plate was DROWNED in sauce. The portions were small for the price. My husband and I had to have almost a "second dinner" later in the evening because it was not filling. The server tried really hard to schmooze with the different tables but it slowed him down so much and prolonged the entire evening for us. We were there for over 2 hours (not by choice- due to the slow service) and didn't even order dessert. The chairs were not comfortable so it just wasn't a pleasant experience. In the meantime, I was bitten by mosquitos that were looming around. In all, this place has some tasty food but the service and portion size make it not worth it. **Also, I wanted to note that the main hostess is a bit snobby/rude. I did take out from here once prior to this in person experience and she was rude to me. When I mentioned that I wasn't sure what name the order was placed under, she responded with "You don't know your husband's name??!" in a very condescending tone. Then when I tried to use a gift card to pay for the meal, the fellow who took the payment asked me how much was on the card (their machine requires manual entry of the exact amount). I replied that I didn't know exactly how much was on it and he said "You don't know how much is on your card?" in an equally unfriendly tone- it almost seemed like they were both suspicious of me. It was a very strange experience that I've never had before from a take out place. I think if the restaurant did an overhaul on all the staff members, many more people would be happier. We waited over an hour for a table for 4. Seating was a bit wonky and unorganized. A few tables had opened up but they seated all that was waiting at once instead of seating as the tables are cleared. Waitress was lovely and a bit stressed with 1 busboy. Food was eh. We ordered the calamari, rollatini, carpacchio, and mussels in a red sauce. Calamari was common. Rollatini I barely found any eggplant - just ate mouthfuls of cheese Beef Carpacchio - sat on a huge bed of arugula and you literally had to fish the meat out (which was lacking in amount) Mussels were common. I ordered the grilled salmon - nothing memorable. My dinner companions order the seafood special with lobster and seafood over linguini. Looked basic - they seemed to like it. Can't say I'd run to go back. I'm assuming they are as busy as they are because of the hefty groupon they have out there. read more

I just paid $32 for a chicken special that was a joke. A thin small piece of chicken with a couple of shrimp and crab meat (never tasted crab). Two shrimp scampi dishes, $26 each, that were breaded, who breads shrimp in scampi, and tasteless. Pasta in a vodka sauce that lacked flavor. The hot appetizer variety, not great at all mussels just ok, and the special stuff artichoke, $16, was not worth the mess. Ending with four desserts which were ok. The individual answering the phone and managing pick-up orders was so inconsiderate and just flat out rude. What a delight! Wish I could give them more stars. They were kind enough to donate a $20 gift card to the Assumption School's tricky tray fundraiser and I won. We decided to use it tonight. We had never been here before, though they are relatively close to our home. When we arrived the restaurant was relatively empty. We thought oh it was because of the holiday weekend. We were greeted by an extremely nice staff and the seated us right away. They only take reservations for 6 or more so we went on the early side. Good move in our behalf because they were packed within 30 minutes of our arrival. The food was everything we expected and more. As we were seated they placed a plate of chopped raw garlic and basil on the table. A bit confused until the poured olive oil on top and provided freshly baked warm bread adjacent to it. We started with 2 salads and an order of beef carpaccio. Most Italian restaurants near us no longer have carpaccio on their menu. This was perfect. Just the right amount of beef and cheese on top of a bed of arugula drizzled with the ideal amount of olive oil and a touch of citrus. Next came the entrees. We ordered Shrimp Scampi, Shrimp Francese and a Chicken special that was Chicken and prosciutto wrapped around steamed asparagus topped with marsala sauce. All three were excellent. The portions were the perfect size, leaving room for dessert. Speaking of which, YUM! Their gelato was cappuccino flavored and no it did not taste like coffee ice cream it was like eating a cold cappuccino drink. The strawberries with zabaglione was also something I could eat all night long. Hope you give this place a try, worth the trip. We'll be back again. (Btw good for families and larger groups.) Pizza was very good, portion sizes on non pizza dishes are small. Food is a bit higher priced. Service has always been slow and mediocre. One day it was extremely bad service. Waited for a ludicrous amount of time for our food to come out. Server was disinterested in our frustration. We asked for some kind of compensation for the terrible service since we were starting to become regulars at the restaurant. The server said they will not provide anything and that it wasn't her fault the food came out slow. (We told the server several times that we knew it wasn't her fault). Cozy indoor dining with a nice outdoor seating area. The service was friendly and top notch. We had a large group and we started with the fried calamari and the cold antipasto. Calamari was gone in a flash but I was a bit disappointed with the cold antipasto. It was cold cuts (Ham and Cheese) rolled up and sliced over a bed of iceberg lettuce with some creamy Italian on top. I had the chicken sorrentino which was great. Armando's looks like it has all the right stuff: a clean open kitchen, a decent menu and a nice ambiance. The service, however, is so piss poor that it's not worth your money. Our party of six went to celebrate a friend's bon voyage. Since the place is quite intimate, waiting was slightly cramped so we were happy to be seated. Our water glasses were quickly filled but no one asked if we'd like anything to drink- perhaps because the place is BYOB, but we were still surprised. We were brought bread with a nice garlic & oil dipping sauce, and then our waitress read the specials as though she were bored, standing with her hip jutting out. A friend asked about the risotto she had enjoyed before and was told that there was none available. The menu specified that many of the dishes come with "potato of the day" and we told that it was either a potato or a potato croquet, depending on what the kitchen had left over- and this is for dinner at 8! When our food arrived, my friend who had clearly ordered pasta with red clam sauce (and had the waitress repeat it back to him) was served pasta with clams and either a butter or oil dressing. He expressed that it was not what he ordered and the waitress blamed the kitchen, served the rest of us, and returned not two minutes later with his plate, now covered with some red sauce. It very much seemed as though they had poured a little red sauce on top of the dish, and since there were very few clams, he was quite disappointed. The rest of us thought that the food was quite good, but the potato croquet were not quite up to snuff. A friend with an allergy to wheat asked for some vegetables instead of the croquet, and after asking a second time, did receive them. The portions of meat were what one would expect, but the portions of vegetable and potato were small. We enjoyed our meal and did not enjoy overhearing the conversation between the waitress and the busboy. We ordered a small dish of cannoli cream for dessert (wheat allergy) and then the bill was presented. The waitress made some mistakes making change, and then left before we left. I don't know what's wrong with Brady A. Maybe she was in a bad mood that night or something, because my dinner at Armando was nothing short of perfection. I had the hot antipasto with the Tuscan steak. My wife had the Pizza Margherita and the lasagna. Every single course was cooked to perfection. The flavor profiles were very clean, fresh and balanced. The cheese on the pizza and lasagna had just the right amount of fat and caramelized to bring out those wonderful nutty notes you expect from fresh mozzarella. My steak was buttery and thick with a wonderful creamy jus reduction and flavored with mushrooms. The lasagna had no hint of greasiness, in fact, it was one of the purest plates I've ever had. I highly recommend this place. It's a little difficult to locate as it sits perpendicular to the road in the back of a strip mall so new it seems to be the only establishment open. Don't waste another minute at your local Italian-by-name-only hack job and treat yourself to Italian at a level you'd expect to find in some high-priced Manhattan location. read more

Went with our family once we heard restaurants were open for dining outside. Spoke to the "host" about a table for 5. At first he flat out rudely said, "no". He went to talk to someone towards the back and came back to us and said, "No, we have nothing. You should have made a reservation." And that was the end of his side of the conversation. The tone of his voice and his choice of words were a bit startling. Never once did he politely say, "I'm sorry, we don't have anything". Just flat out "NO". So I walked out. Never again. read more
