The only reason I gave 1 star is because I got our money back. We rented an Olympus camera for our snorkeling adventure. Before we left the condo I tested the video out an worked fine. Went to the snorkeling spot and got in the water and the screen said card error tried shutting it off then on an same problem. So had to get out of the water and take camera out of housing take out sd card then back in. Back in housing...back in water worked for about 10 seconds an same error. Back out of water..repeat process then back to water. Seems to be working fine and was video taping lots of coral an sea life then error popped up again. Back out of water repeat process then back in water then says battery low. By now inhad enough and got out of water and returned camera to Boss Frog. They checked card for me and nothing, other then the two test videos from in condo. Very dissatisfied. What made it worse was the cashier at boss frog said they have been having this problem and probably time for them to upgrade their camera. Little that helps me inhad some good video I was hoping to review when we got home. Despite this mess up still had a great wedding in maui. read more

Super laid back dude was really helpful and patient with my party of 5 with 2 kids for snorkel fitting and rentals! Prices were way affordable and I had a chance to pay a little extra for a way better snorkel experience. It's basically like an enclosed hockey mask and you u just breathe through your nose the entire time and way better than the traditional snorkel methods. Worth the extra 5 bucks!! You can also return your rentals at any location which was great for us!!! read more

We rented two snorkel sets and boogie boards. The boogie boards were brand new and great quality. The snorkel masks were easily adjustable, and they also supply an anti-fog solution and fins. One of our snorkel sets ended up getting stolen during our stay, and Patty, one of their staff members, was very accommodating and kind about the whole incident. The prices are WAY cheaper than renting at your hotel! Definitely worth it to make the trip to Boss Frogs! read more

Patty at this Boss Frog's location is the absolute BEST EVER!!! She went out of her way to do the most for our family to have a good time. We got screwed on a snorkeling trip we were supposed to go on and she called every single snorkeling company in town to try and get us on another trip. After working with us for an hour and a half we landed on a whale watching trip, since it was days notice. Then, 2 days later a spot opened up on a snorkeling boat and we were the first people she called. We got so lucky we got to go on the snorkeling and whale watching in the same day. There is no way we would have had such an amazing trip if it weren't for Patty. Had a great experience at this store. Butterfly was amazing and so helpful. My snorkel attachment (not purchased here) broke and Bitterfly helped fix it rather than high pressure purchase /rent a new One. We also rented chairs umbrellas and a cooler package, which is perfect for someone who LOATHES pool whales (why come to an ocean to sit by a concrete pond? Go out and explore!!). Don't give your business to Boss Frog's chains! The location near Safeway has really bad customer service. We were waiting in line to speak with the woman at the front desk (she was helping another pair in front of us). The entire time (~15 min) of waiting she didn't once acknowledge that we were there (no eye contact, no apology for the wait, nothing). We ended up just walking out and now won't be going back to any Boss Frog's stores in the future. read more

She took care of all our needs from reserving our group of 11 in great seats, making sure that I had a gluten free meal served to me at the Royal Lahaina Luau, to my parents 50th wedding anniversary being recognized. We also booked our snorkeling trip to the Molokini crater with Michele. She went above and beyond to make sure that we had all the information needed and stayed in contact with me while we were there. At least at this location, they seem to be more interested in signing people up for timeshare presentations than taking care of customers. After waiting for Denny to go through the speel for one group, another couple and I by myself got fitted for gear. Even though I was alone and back to the register before the couple (because they stopped to look on the way back), I being courteous let them go since they *were* in the store first. They then had to be taken back to the equipment to be educated on the better equipment chosen yielding the cost difference from their coupon. Once that was done, the pitch for activities and a timeshare kicked off. Seeing I was going nowhere fast, I bailed. There were other customers in the store being neglected as well. Being a higher traffic mall location, there *really* needs to be someone dedicated to timeshare pitches to allow customers who would like to get on with their vacation the ability to do so without watching people scratch their ass thinking about being pitched for a presentation. Either that or someone who can handle shuffling people who are ready to go and the ass scratchers. That's clearly *NOT* Denny. read more

Their ads are a classic 'BAIT AND SWITCH" The ad offers either a free Molikini trip or 2-for-1 snorkel sets. Neither deal is actually offered. We rented snorkel gear for a week. When it came time to pay we asked to add on the evening Molikini boat trip for $7 as advertised. The person "helping" us informed us that it was pointless to sign up for the trip because the weather is "always" too choppy to go to Molikini in the evening. He said the boat would take us to a place we could drive to. I said "ok", then I'd like the 2-for-1 skorkel set. He informed us that the 2-for-1 deal only applied to their low-end snorkel set that doesn't actually keep water out of your eyes or lungs. He then informed me that if I wanted to reduce the price of the snorkel gear I could visit a timeshare seminar. Ultimately we rented the "good" snorkel gear but found it to be ill fitting. Go somewhere else for your snorkel gear. read more

STOP!!! DO RENTALS ELSEWHERE!!!! THIS COMPANY IS A JOKE, THEIR STAFF IS COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND INCOMPETENT. I hope I can save someone from a world of anguish with our experience. We decided to rent from the nearest rental spot we could find, as we were tourists on vacation and didn't know our way around Maui. After renting a waterproof camera from Boss Frog's for our entire vacation, and spending over $600 on excursions and events. We thought we were all set for a great time. Little did we know that all of our wonderful captured moment's would be completely lost and discarded. The Boss Frog's employee assured us that all of our pictures would be loaded on to a disc. When we picked up our disc from Boss Frog's, I noticed the disc showed it only had 4.7 GB of space. I expressed my concern to their employee, I told her "there is no way that this disc is going to hold over 2500 pictures and videos, with a max capacity of 4.7 GB". She seemed upset that I would even question her ability and just replied with "I do this all the time, I know what I'm doing trust me, all of your pictures are there". I asked if she would please double check the disc by inserting it into her computer, she just replied with "I can't do that". This was our last stop before heading to the airport. Longer story short, we were in Maui for 10 days and only received pictures for less than 2 days of our trip. Due to their employees incompetence and neglect. When we contacted Boss Frog's letting them know what had occurred, they gave me a bunch of run around and BS to put it nicely at the end they basically told me to forget about my pictures because they weren't going to waste time or money looking for our pictures (even though they had stated retrieval of our pictures was possible but it would take them some time, time that they didn't want to spend on this). This is just one of the horrible experiences we had with this company, I can sit here and list them all, but this is the most important one to us. It makes me sick to my stomach, how this company can treat people with so much indifference. Thanks Boss Frogs for disrespecting us and causing me an enormous amount of grief and heartbreak. Our family and friends have requested pictures from our trip and you've robbed us of the ability to share our memories with our friends and family. read more

The sales associate behind the counter was rude and actually seemed to be getting mad that he had to fill out rental paperwork. Then the body boards we rented were in terrible condition (found that out from the locals) so they didn't even work. It ruined the waves we were trying to enjoy and put a damper on our first trip to Maui. To top it off when I called to try to get a refund I was given the run around and not helped what so ever. We had a wonderful experience from here! There is a new guy that just started working here and he was fantastic! Our resort is in Laihana, but we really wanted to see some sea turtles, so we were planning to drive down to Waleia to see them, but after speaking with the guy at boss frog, he told us about baby beach just behind the boss frog where we ended up seeing four giant sea turtles! It was amazing and our equipment worked great! This place was very helpful and just what we needed. We did actually end up getting overcharges the first day and didn't know, but when we returned our items they recognized the mistake and immediately refunded us! They were great and there are many locations if you want to pick up in one spot and return in another! read more

We came here to rent snorkel gear and the man working was rude and arrogant telling us that our family that lived here didn't know anything and why would he be taking us out .. So we didn't end up renting snorkel gear. Instead we went to a different boss frogs in which the people there were much more attentive and respectful. Bringing the gear back we made the mistake of coming back the boss frogs at the cannery mall and a lady with blond hair was rude as hell. This is our second visit in two years to Maui. Both trips we went to Boss Frog's for different purposes. Last year was our first ever trip and my husband and I wanted to go on every excursion possible. We ended up spending a lot. We noticed lower prices (after the fact) at Boss Frog's. This year when we came back with our children, we went to Boss Frog's first. Butterfly Jin was super helpful and respectful of a big family wanting to enjoy Maui without breaking the bank. She was very patient with me as I changed my mind several times. She went above and beyond to get us great deals and was very kind in the process. We rented snorkel gear for the week, she helped both my daughter and I get prescription goggles so we could actually see underwater. We ended up spending less for our entire family to enjoy parasailing, jet skiing, and snorkeling at Molokini, than just my husband and I spent on the two of us last year. She suggested that we consider checking out a time share to save even more. We did, it was not too painful and we walked away without purchasing a timeshare.
