Be warned, they advertised that snorkeling gears were only $1.50/day, but these were equipment you could've picked up at convenience stores, so we personally didn't think it was a "deal" so we went with the better gears. The equipment we rented were in great shape, but the guy who was helping us was not very friendly. We rented snorkeling gears for the day, $8.50/person. However, we came in at around 3pm, and they have a 24 hour rental policy, which means we would need to return the gears tomorrow at 3pm. We had plans the next day, so we had to return the rental before Boss Frog closes that day, which was at 9pm. I wish they had a "half day" rental system. It makes more sense for my customers. Who snorkels for 24 hours?! read more

Had a terrible experience at this Kahana location. We walked in and my brother asked Willis, "how are the wind and current today?". Willis responded, "well, first of all, the wind and the current are two different things". *side-eye* My brother continued to ask him how the current was, and if it was safe to paddleboard because it was our first time. Willis said yes, of course, we wouldn't send you out there if it wasn't safe. We told him that we will be walking them down to the beach across the street. He told us that was a great idea and he wouldn't have to strap boards to the car. After our transaction, we headed towards the hotel across the street. Before entering the hotel, we were stopped by an employee. He recommended us not to go out there because the wind and current were very strong. He said that their paddleboard and kayak rental shop closes when the wind is too strong. My brother spoke to an employee at their rental area and he definitely recommend us not to go out there that day. The wind was 23 mph, too windy for first-timers. We carried our boards back to the shop, and the other employee met us outside. We told him the situation and he said, "oh yeah I definitely wouldn't have sent you guys out there if I knew you were going to this beach". *side-eye* Willis met us outside and asked us what happened... we told him the situation. He apologized and asked when our vacation ends. He said he could also strap the boards to the car and we could head to a different beach. We just wanted a refund at this point and not a sale's pitch. We got our refund eventually. It felt like they just wanted the money without considering the weather conditions and our safety. read more

We rented a SUP for a day from this place and Patty was an absolute angel. She was super helpful when renting and we had to take my sister to the ER for an injury and she was super understanding when we had to return a little bit late. Very good pricing too, would recommend. read more

I like the long hours they are open as well. $9 for snorkel set with flippers and $6 for a beach chair. This is the one day rental price. Rented snorkeling equipment for a full week using a Groupon. Equipment was in great condition and the rental process was a breeze. The woman who helped us was super friendly, but she was alone in the store and didn't have a lot of time to give us guidance on local snorkeling spots because she kept having to manage phone calls. We usually rent our snorkel gear and chairs from this place every year we come out but we will not be coming here anymore. Came in on 9/12 around 2:30 pm. It was really busy so we were helping the guy out by getting the gear we needed and lining up to pay to rent. Then he proceeded to yell at us saying we can't do that. 1. No sign that said we cannot prepare our gear. 2. If that were so, he could have said it way nicer ?? Customer service was shit so not going to give you guys our business. It was some white dude in maybe his 20's? Should work on attitude and how to treat customer. You gave this store a bad name and we will be telling our other friends not to come here anymore. We will give our business to someone who is at minimum civil. read more

Terrible experience today, being on vacation makes it that much more frustrating. So here it goes, we enter the store and immediately encounter a very high strung employee. I tell her that we are here to redeem a groupon that I purchased. She said ok and got her iPad out, she tried to up-sell us on a few things which was no big deal just mildly annoying. She asked if we are planning adventures outside of snorkeling and I mentioned a dinner cruise. She said that it normally is $211 but she can get us one for $28 total. We realized it was some sort of timeshare event and told her we're not interested. She put on some heavy pressure - "they just spent 30 million dollars on this resort!! And you don't want to see it?!" We again told her no thanks that we're on vacation and would rather not sit through that. Next she starts finishing our Groupon- or so we thought. She asked for our names - no ID, and didn't ask for the Groupon voucher . She told me it was going to be an additional $24 dollars that my Groupon doesn't cover it. I told her that no where in the fine print didn't state that I had to pay more money. She told me that she doesn't sell Groupon's and she doesn't know what I'm talking about. I showed her the Groupon again which she didn't seem to care about and asked if I am at the right company and she confirmed. She was extremely rude and pompous and gave no alternatives. I told her that I was not going to pay additional money that was not included in the FinePrint. She basically told me to pound sand and she doesn't know anything about Groupon which she CLEARLY did. I am very upset with my experience. I called another location close to our hotel. They informed me they would except the Groupon and that there is absolutely no additional cost. This is just more evidence that this woman is greedy and rude, and out to get you for extra cash. I am not saying that $24 is a lot of money , but I was clearly lied to and that's what made me mad. Very pushy, annoying experience, and lied to. I am not happy. NOWHERE in the fine print does it ask for additional money. read more

Upon arrival we met with Curtis, best customer service ever. We rented fins, awesome waterproof camera, and bought shorts, necklaces for my girls etc... Curtis set us up with a snorkel trip of a lifetime on the backside of Lanai Island. It was a memory of a lifetime. The day was an early morning breakfast then a 60 min boat ride to the backside of heaven. The waters were so clear and the aquatic wildlife was amazing. We took over 200 pictures in the 9 days in Maui which Curtis gladly burned to CD for us at ZERO CHARGE. I cannot say enough good about Boss Frogs other then if you DONT use their business you will miss out on all of the knowledge and expertise to help you have the best trip ever. Rented 1 traditional snorkel and 1 full mask. Traditional snorkel strap broke and full mask did not work well. Came back to replace and Shawn helped us out. Replaced broken traditional snorkel with no problem and immediately knew the full mask didn't work for us by the shape of our face. Boss Frogs Company is awesome and especially for the great people that work there like Ashley and Pat. They both work at two different stores, but when one store did not have the wetsuits we wanted to purchase. Ashley FaceTimed Pat snd showed us the suits and held them until we could get there. And, there was no pressure to buy anything and Ashley helped us with different excursions and Pat helped us with restaurants. They were generous with their time and knowledge and all they cared about was us having a great trip!! Ashley even gave us her cell number in case we needed anything. We asked about the sanitization process, and they use the highest grade disinfectant with a multi step process, so we felt VERY safe despite the pandemic. There was a sign hanging in the store with a number to call with any customer service complaints. I called the number, and was directed to an e-mail address. I sent the manager a recap of my experience, and within minutes (seriously) he responded to my e-mail, and comped me for the rentals. I appreciated the quick response, and the fact that the manager didn't just try and make excuse for his employee (the term termination was mentioned). While this doesn't excuse the rudeness of my initial encounter, I was comforted to know that the manager seemed to care about customer service. read more

Denny was amazing! We came to Maui for our honeymoon & got amazing deals on the snorkel gear, boogie boards & even an under water camera (which you NEED to rent or you will regret it!) Great service all around. Went into the Lahainaluna location and they didn't have any look-e-boards (boogie board with a plastic window for the little one to see below the surface). Hugh called over to the Cannery Mall, set us up with Michele, who was great! Both team members answered all of our questions, made recommendations, and only offered additional services that made sense with what we wanted to do with our group. We ended up doing Baby Beach the first day with our little one, good spot, close by, perfect for little kids. Next day, did Black Rock and got to see more fish and some turtles up close. What a great shop! I went in assuming the worst - that this was one of those hard-sell, "we can see the tourists coming from a mile away and they're all just walking dollar signs" kind of spots. I couldn't have been more wrong! The guys who work there were very knowledgeable and nice, and seemed really invested in just making sure we had a great trip. The snorkeling gear is great quality and way cheaper than you'd get at any resort. You can return them at any of the Boss Frog shops, so it made sense just to get them for a week and hold onto them. Jessie was incredibly patient and knowledgable, and was more than happy to point out all the good snorkel spots. He then went above and beyond and showed us some great restaurants, bars and other activities to do while we're here. He was like a happy, non-pushy marine-biologist concierge! read more

The only reason I gave 1 star is because I got our money back. We rented an Olympus camera for our snorkeling adventure. Before we left the condo I tested the video out an worked fine. Went to the snorkeling spot and got in the water and the screen said card error tried shutting it off then on an same problem. So had to get out of the water and take camera out of housing take out sd card then back in. Back in housing...back in water worked for about 10 seconds an same error. Back out of water..repeat process then back to water. Seems to be working fine and was video taping lots of coral an sea life then error popped up again. Back out of water repeat process then back in water then says battery low. By now inhad enough and got out of water and returned camera to Boss Frog. They checked card for me and nothing, other then the two test videos from in condo. Very dissatisfied. What made it worse was the cashier at boss frog said they have been having this problem and probably time for them to upgrade their camera. Little that helps me inhad some good video I was hoping to review when we got home. Despite this mess up still had a great wedding in maui. read more
