Went there for ribs! But the pieces of brisket were cut 1/4" to " thick! Not much flavor today either. Second meat was the delicious Texas sausage. Wife had chopped beef sandwich that could have been chopped a bit more. Side dishes stole to show! The picture of the knuckle doesn't do it justice so let's discuss... first off the meats are so darn juicy it isn't even funny.... like serious perfect amount of water still comes out of the meat without affecting taste but to make your tastebuds happy to bite into every bite... no bbq or liquids needed to make anything go down.... but they have it all. The turkey was heavenly and he more smoke taste and so tender you could cut it with a flimsy spoon! The brisket chopped isn't that tiny chopped junk it's big chucks sliced then chopped and pulled and arranged and well gone in seconds! Sausage links are out of this world and I was presently surprised in the smoked salami! Like really surprised just like their bologna they sear it right before serving and it is to die for.. Be careful of their sides... that Mac n cheese.... rich and creamy and just too good. I'd love to see some of their smoke cheese versions or a hint of a few different cheeses added on top to give it another meal in itself. We called in our order. We got on the road and realized something was missing. I immediately called them and told them what we were missing and told them I'd be back. We were running late to practice. It's not in town so it's not convenient to go back. Once I got back she had the ordered pulled. She met me know that the item was not on the order. So they hadn't got my order right the first time. It would have saved me a lot of time if they also had just called and said they never had the item in the order and it was correct. They let me know they had pulled the missing item for me and I could pay for it now. If I would have known that I would have had my wallet. I however had my license and phone that was all. Well I am in Sapulpa for work. Opened the maps on my iPhone and typed Food. And this gem popped up. Saw one picture of a smoked Bologna sandwich and had to go try it. I passed every bit of six other BBQ joints but that picture of that sandwich was stuck in my mind. Got to Boss Hawg, walked in the door and was greeted by a very nice lady. Told her I had to have that bologna sandwich. So I ordered that said sandwich, some jalapeño smoked sausage, and their "legionary" mac'n'cheese. As I was waiting for my food. A mature gentleman came out from the kitchen and started some small talk. We talked about travels and places we were from. Turns out the lady that greeted me and the mature gentleman were the owners. They were very hospitable. Just like your good ol Texas ma' and pa'. Even though ma' is a OU fan. Lol. But you have to respect the region. Lol. Enough about all of that. So I get back to my place and open up the food. At first I was a little disappointed. The sandwich or the sausage didn't look anything like the picture uploaded by the owner. The sausage was sliced, not a link and the bologna was one large chunk, not sliced. Took one bite out of the sandwich and it immediately brought memories of being a little kid eating fried bologna, not having a care in the world. By far some of the best BBQ I have had in years. OMG!!!! What can I say this place is charming! It can accommodate big parties. The sign on the windows reads "Big Texas Flavor" and that's EXACTLY what this is. The owner Ronda actually greeted us and politely asked how we heard of them? We actually dropped our boat off at the shop down the street and I asked the worker there if it was any good? He said it is very good but it will make you sleepy. I ordered the baja tacos (on the Tex mex menu per Rondas recommendation) with brisket minus the red onion and it came with just two tacos however these weren't ordinary tacos- these were melt in your mouth tacos! I have never experienced such a flavor party in my mouth. My husband ordered the dawg sandwich that had 3 meats on it and he literally said it was the best bbq he's ever had. Which is saying a lot. Then to top it the whole dining experience off- the owner gave us two cake pops of our choosing. I chose the carrot cake which was 10/10 and the hubbs chose the chocolate peanut butter one. We wish we had found this place sooner! They have been in Sapulpa over 2 years. We just had a wonderful lunch there today. Such a nice hometown feel. Comfy seating in the front room, like someone's living room! Plenty of places to eat in the 2nd room and right now it looks like they have tables reserved as to social distance. The food was delicious and we had enough left over to take home for another meal. There was 4 of us today and we all tried different things. I had the chopped brisket with macaroni and cheese and green beans as sides. Everything was wonderful, so flavorful. Since we were new customers we got our drinks for free. And after our meal, the owner came around with cake balls. We each chose a different flavor. I loved the lemon cake ball and I tasted my husband's red velvet one and it was so good too. We liked how they were not too sweet, just the perfect combination of cake and icing. They are open Wednesday-Saturday, so take note of that. We will definitely be back, it was really great. Their food was excellent. I had the Gumbo and they had a piece of Jalapeño cornbread with it. The cornbread was so tasty and good. My chef son had the two meat dinner and he said it was so good and the sides were good too! My wife had the brisket dinner and she loved it. That was our first time to eat at Boss Hawg BBQ. As we were getting close to the end of our meals one of the employees came to our table and offered us free cake balls. It was really nice of them to give us those free!!! Well, the sides were great. There was a creamy mac and cheese, topped with bacon. And the collared greens were perfect. I can't brag about the meat. The brisket was quite dry, even though I asked for "moist". But it did have a nice smoke ring and pecan flavor. The little ribs were about the same caliber- nothing to write home about, but decent.
