This convention center is huge! The hallways are super spacious, there's a ton of meeting space, and everyone I encountered and engaged with was friendly and helpful. I'm sure with different events and such, getting to the right place is difficult. If you're staying at the hotels "behind" the convention center, it's a short walk to the entrance, but man, trying to find your way to where you're going can be tricky. I think I walked around for like 20 minutes trying to find my conference. Overall, a good convention center, lots of space, and clean too! read more

HARDEST WORKING JANITORIAL STAFF IN ALL OF BOSTON!!! It was a 3 day volleyball tournament. About 100 courts. 743 teams. 14,000 spectators. It was huge, loud and intense. Lots of yelling. Balls flying everywhere! The Janitorial staff were highly visible. I saw them emptying garbage cans periodically. I saw them walking and sweeping often. The bathroom staff were constantly keeping up with the bathrooms and people were trashing them! The shuttle system worked great. No long waits. Security was on point and fast. Vendors were selling $8 hot dogs, $5 lemonades (it was a poland spring lare jug they made themselves), coffee and Italian ice. read more

This convention center is located in Seaport, and it's huge. I know. All convention centers are big, but this one is vast. It looks big from the outside, and I went in half of it and didn't even see it all. It seemed pretty easy to navigate, but then again I saw only part of it. They had plenty of staff to assist. The bathrooms were clean. The cafe area felt really small considering the size of the convention center. Unlike many other convention centers, this one is located not in the middle of nowhere, so there are other food options and hotels within walking distance. Maybe that's why the cafe area is smaller than convention centers in other cities? The walkability of the location of this convention center is great. read more

As someone who has been a professional conference attendee for the past twenty-five years, the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center stands out for its reasonable level of accessibility by transit via the MBTA Silver Line. It is also within walking distance of Boston's South Station and historic downtown and financial district. Compared to many other urban convention centers, this location is well-laid out and easily transited. Many convention centers are focused inward and interact with their surrounds in only the most limited way. In constraint, the BCEC features a host of views out of the facility towards downtown, the Seaport, and the emerging Joel Garreau style edge city that is springing up on the street grid that is slowly replacing the warehouses and wharves that long dominated this former industrial area. read more

I was here for the IACP conference and enjoyed the layout of the convention center... it's huge, but easy to navigate. The biggest issue was traffic. Having a conference in such a hi-traffic town really doesn't work well, especially with such a high attendance of convention attendees. It took nearly an hour each time to get from our hotel to the convention center via the busses the conference hosts contracted. This is RIDIUCLOUS! It's actually quicker to walk 2 miles than deal with horrible slow busses stopping at every single light, even those not red, which just barely turned yellow. Then add to this the amount of local traffic already on the street - it's horrible! Future conventions really need to think about having a conference here as so many of my team mates were not happy at all with this silly slow bus issue and the traffic. They need more hotels adjacent to the convention center to make this easier on tourists and those traveling to a conference here. Then, the traffic at the convention center was a mess too! The police at the various intersections did very little to alleviate it, rather they let the lights dictate who went next and they waved vehicles thru on green lights, whereas they should have put the lights on flash and manually controlled each intersection. I waited on a rideshare (Lyft) for 20 mins to get thru 5 cycles of a light as it was trying to make a left turn and each cycle, only one vehicle got thru do to the gridlock. read more

Probably one of the best convention centers I've been to. I attended the ACTFL convention and think it was pretty well laid out. Above all, I appreciate the bag search/metal detectors upon entering the main lobby. Definitely made me feel a little safer than in other exhibition centers! Staff are super friendly, the facility is clean, located in a very convenient part of South Boston, with plenty of hotels close by and some great restaurants and bars a 10 minute walk away. read more

Beautiful building inside and out! There is SO much space for conferences or events. I recently attended the ATA conference in May and they had different speakers and events across the whole building! There are not many options inside for food (besides a small coffee shop) however it is connected to hotels and there is a small gift shop and Starbucks within walking distance. Also there was an Irish bar/restaurant nearby for other food and drink options. If you're staying nearby for a conference just know that there are not many dining options. You may have to take an Uber or walk a bit if you want to eat someone decent. read more

Holy crap this place is huge -- like YUGE. I've attended two conferences here, both took over the entire convention center, and I found myself often running from one side of the building to the other between sessions. You'll easily hit your step goals on your Fit Bit here, that's for sure. Food options are expensive -- they know they have a captive audience -- but at least the coffee's good. The lawn/green space out back is great, especially for food trucks, and there is plenty of space out front for buses to drop off convention attendees. My big complaint is that for both conferences, there were always multiple elevators out of commission. Which maybe doesn't sound like a big deal, but when you're literally running from one side of the convention center to the other, if you have to add climbing a big flight of stairs to your route (or if you have to travel out of your way to get to the stairs), it gets tedious. Other than that, the space is pretty impressive, and can certainly hold massive crowds! read more

Very nice and clean, large convention center. I do have a few complaints, there's no food options inside the convention center. The café there is out of everything and have no supplies. Their halls are all like warehouses, and no carpet which is so weird. Very hard to walk on with heels. Came here recently for a conference, and as much as the convention center is clean and big, the whole experience was very average. Bathroom are reasonably clean. The best convention center I've ever been to. Everything is so well laid out and easy to access. We were here during the PAX East weekend (not the first time for us) but I keep forgetting to review. The hall is enormous and very open. The air conditioning is perfect and the layout of the entire building is perfect. I love coming here and walking endlessly. Did went there for PAX EAST 2020 just before pandemic and this palce was amazing and really well built. Also not too huge so pretty easy to navigate inside the place and to find you throught where you wanna go. Plus just outside on the same terrain they plenty of Food trucks parked her from a simple but delicious Grilled Cheese to some more sophisticated stuff so a lot of choices for every taste ;) The only thing and it's about the convention itself really is that I was expecting way more people to be cosplayed as a cosplayer myself which I was at Cartman from South Park this time Lol I've also been pretty surprised of how much securities guards are there since it was my first time in the USA and find it kimda disturbing that they need metal detectors in every entrances read more

I came here for an ASHA convention and it was a great convention center. Bathrooms were clean and supplied. Shuttles ran great, and staff was very friendly. It's an easy place to find and easy for Ubers to get in/out. There's a Dunkin down the street, but also food available inside (although it's typically more $). If you get there early enough you'll find parking right on the street (try D Street). read more

I attended a work conference here last month, and the venue was really awesome! It's located walking distance from the downtown and tourist areas, and there are great restaurants nearby as well. The main exhibition floor was huge and there was plenty of space to meet with vendors. Make use of the sky bridges on the first floor to get from one side to the other and save yourself a long trek! Their ballroom was beautiful as well for the conference kickoff. The only thing I wish they had was a couple larger lecture halls as some of the presentations were standing room only and overflowing out the door. You don't get a sense of how massive the Convention Center is until you wander around inside. It takes up multiple city blocks. I came here for an AWS event last summer and had a fun time. The building is so big it can take you several minutes to get from one part of the build to another. A couple of times I got lost trying to find a specific meeting room on a particular floor. I was taking multiple escalators and cutting across a skywalk. Some of the signs could be a little more clear. The main convention floor is the size of an aircraft hangar. Inside is very nice and up-to-date. If you go to an event here wear comfortable shoes. read more

I've been attending the International Boston Seafood Show (IBSS) at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center for the last five years. This convention center is massive at 516,000 square feet and easily accommodates the 20,000 people who attend the IBSS every year. There are 82 meeting rooms at the convention center that are available to book for private meetings. Navigating through this convention center can be overwhelming at first, but there is usually attendees on the floor that will guide you in the right direction if you are lost. Two pedestrian sky bridges span the entire exhibit floor so you can easily make your way to any part of the convention center in less than ten minutes. It is easy to commute to the convention center from the airport. A taxi ride costs about $20 or you can take the Silver Line Bus for about $2.50. Taking the bus is cheaper, but the commute is longer and the bus does not take you directly to the convention center so you'll have a 7-10 minute walk from the World Trade Center Stop. If you are driving to this convention center it is a $15 charge to park or $25 if you prefer to valet your car. The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center provides several amenities including coat and luggage check, on-site dining, and shuttle service to specific hotels. The dining services at the convention center isn't the greatest. The prepared food is expensive and awful at the grab-and-go stations on the event floor. There is a food court and a Sam Adam's bar upstairs, but it is usually impossible to find an open table and the service is terribly slow. Luckily, the convention I attend is a food show so I usually eat samples on the floor and only purchase beverages at the show. The convention center provides complimentary WIFI, but the service is painfully slow when everyone is trying to log on at the same time. Be aware that you may not have access to your smartphone or laptop unless you bring your own wireless connection. Despite the lackluster dining options on-site and the spotty WIFI this is a really great spot to have a convention. The convention center is convenient to the airport, hotels, and lots of great restaurants. The events are always very organized and the staff at the convention center are very helpful and friendly. Just be aware that you will do a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes! read more

I was at the Boston Convention Center from November 14-17, 2018 for the ASHA Convention. I was impressed with the size of the Convention Center, housing around 18,000 Speech Pathologists and dozens of conferences simultaneously. As well as hundreds of exhibitors! All bathrooms were exceptionally clean and fully stocked, all the time! The organization and layout of the conference rooms was great. I loved the modern finishes. The location is great, with lots of hotels less than 15 minutes away. It was a great experience spending a couple of days here! read more

Was here for Inbound. It's a very large building/complex, but I found it not too hard to navigate since the signage was helpful and specific. It'll just take you a fairly long time to get from one side of it to the other. Everything is modern and clean, and there are Outtakes and cafés sprinkled about. My one complaint was that the rooms for sessions were very cramped with uncomfortable seats. They should have tables instead to put your laptop etc on. Also, some of the projectors (assuming BCEC provides them) were straight up garbage where the image was so light and faded you couldn't even see the PowerPoint. Overall though, not too bad, and their big "club" area, as Inbound called it, seems great to customize for parties and networking events as you so please. read more

Today was Fan Expo, AKA Comic Con, an awesome day. The convention center handled the lone lines and massive amounts of people very well indeed. This is the 2ND year being at the convention center and the transition has been pretty smooth. Plenty of bathroom options throughout although I do wish there was seating to just rest for a few minutes. Easy parking and the few attendants I had questions for were friendly and knew the answers, that's nice. The one downer, I know that all vendors are there to make money. I do think $3.50 for a $1.00 bottle of water is ridiculous. Maybe rethink that read more

HUUUUUUGE!! This place is in a superb location, very walkable to restaurants, hotels and public transit (including to the airport). The center can be set up as open/closed as you'd like. I attended Hubspot Inbound and it was amazing! Get outside onto the grassy area with the swings, they are so fun :) Uber sometimes has a bit of challenge for pick-up, but go to the Sam Adams entrance and tell your Uber person - waaaay quicker than the front entrance & waaaay less people getting picked up. The BCE is connected to the Westin Hotel (all indoor walking) - if part of your conference is there, they serve the Starbucks coffee for the attendees - worth the walk over. Best tip about this place: There is a go-between walk way on the (2nd or 3rd) floor to cut across the BCE building. Otherwise you have to go all the way around the "U" shape layout. read more

I came here for the APHA Convention, which had over 10,000+ attendees. This center is huge!! I'd recommend wearing comfortable shoes if possible since you'll be walking a lot. There are some food places and cafes, but warning - they are overpriced and not that great. You are better off enjoying the local restaurants that Boston has to offer. Oh and its a bit chilly, so maybe bring a sweater. Oh, and what cool about this is that they have a Lost & Found center where you can track your items online. Unfortunately, I lost my camera at this event due to carelessness, and was able to put in a request through here. Maybe one day it'll show up..... read more

Don't buy drinks! It's way overpriced! Service is so-so but not terrible. Very big place. Security is a stickler. If you don't have a state issued ID , u will need a passport. Most staff is generally kind, helpful, polite. Restrooms are decent. Food is so-so. You won't be full. But, the icecream bar is pretty good if ur having an event. Please be polite to waiting staff. They seem miserable and exhausted. read more

The BCEC hosted PAX East in its second year in Boston and DAMN, was this place huge. It's a clean and spacious facility. There are ample water fountains and bathrooms with easy access to the floors via escalators and elevators. I would recommend to skip the food court entirely. The prices for the items were high and the quality looked subpar. For example, a hamburger was $9.00 and a bottle of water was $3.00... yeah, skip it. Oh yes, if you are staying locally: the Westin is attached via covered skybridge and if you choose to stay at the Seaport, a short walk across the street will get you there. Renaissance is a longer walk away so if you plan to do a lot of walking within the convention centre, you might want to consider your energy levels at the end of the day. read more

This place provides ample amount of space for your largest conferences and with the hundreds of vendors that come to show off their products this center can accommodate well. This past year they even added a relaxation lounge and larger food area, it shows that they're always in a state of trying to get better. BCEC is a massive and surprisingly well kept convention center. It thiink it fits like 60k+ standing and doesn't even feel crowded. The space is so massive it's unbelievable. It seems like it would be hard to maintain such a large space but they do a great job. The staff was all pretty helpful and the just amount of rude to do their job efficiently. They have a bajillion cabs outside so that's usually not an issue if you're at a major event. However, it can clog up traffic like hell. It might be better to walk a few blocks over and catch an Uber than wait in a mess of parked cars. Basically for a massive space, it's pretty good. The high ceilings keep the air fresh, too. read more

Been coming here on my annual gaming pilgrimage (PAX East) for four years - the space is huge and ideal for any type of large scale convention. The lowest level is an open floor, and the first, second and third floors are great space for panels as well as a great stage space for concerts. Based on my experiences at PAX, it's always been run smoothly, and staff are friendly and helpful. My only issues with the space are to be expected: difficult parking overflow and expensive on site food options. I'd recommend planning for earlier travel if you are commuting or staying at the adjacent hotel. Looking forward to next year! read more

This was my second time attending Red Hat Summit. The first time was in San Francisco and this time was (obviously) in Boston. I don't think the logistics were as well handled at this location, but I'm not sure if that's the Convention center's fault or Red Hat's. The breakfasts were held in a hallway and were way over packed with people making it difficult to move around and impossible to find a seat. My friend has a dairy allergy (not just lactose intolerant) and when she registered she noted the special food requirement. That requirement was completely ignored, and when she mentioned her allergy she was brought the vegetarian option with hit and miss results because often the vegetarian meal would have cheese sauces or cream sauces. Was a great conference as far as the Red Hat content went! read more

Was just here for PAX East, and I've got to say this place is gigantic. I don't think any event could be held here where you'd be unable to find a place to pop a squat. It's also stupidly accessible by the neighboring Westin. The BCEC is close to the airport, but within walking distance of nothing. Unfortunately, this means you're stuck eating some of the worst tasting food I've ever had, and the fact I had to pay ten dollars for a small box of chicken tenders and rice that was passed off as cashew chicken was pretty depressing. There's pretty much nothing they can't mess up here. Bring your own food if at all possible. read more

I came here for the New England International Auto Show. I think this is a great location for it; I liked it much better than the last show I attended (albeit quite a few years ago) at the Bayside Expo Center. The place is huge. We had to walk several minutes to get to the ticket counter, and several more to get to the show. It's well maintained - including the rest rooms - and easy to get around. There were a few people at some of the entrances to help people. It didn't really feel like enough, but we were also there late in the day when the crowds were smaller. A coat check area was available, but we didn't make use of it. The convention area for the cars was very well lit and again easy to navigate through. I thought it was a bit too warm and dry, but given it was a very cold night, that might not have been avoidable. Unfortunately there was a lot of static electricity. Also, there were not a lot of beverage options. I would have liked to see more water fountains on the ground level, though I wonder if that is deliberate so that the concession stands can do more business? If you don't mind a few minutes walk, I'd say consider parking at one of the lots a little further to the east. These should be cheaper, and they allow fairly quick access to I-93 outbound. read more

Nice, modern convention center. I was here at the start of August for SIGGRAPH 2006. All of the presentations, I went to went off without a hitch. The space was huge, and easily managed the crowd. It was a little too cold day after day in the convention center especially when contrasted with the +100 temperatures outside. Easy mass transit access to the center. Unfortunately, it shares access with the airport; it is the same route. This can make it a crowded ride to/from the center. As with most convention centers, their in-house catering was very mediocre, and excruciatingly expensive for what you get. read more
