The Doctor was amazing! But,I just had the most insulting customer service By Jackie Rojas. She is unable to handle a customer service conversation. Out of nowhere she came up with a second $20 charge. Something about a 2 some year ago. A missed appointment which I had no idea. While I don't have an issue paying $20 for something I owe I don't appreciate the way she handle the situation. Right out the door, she said"$55 for today's appointment and $20 for a missed appointment in year 2023" I don't understand. I walked in a month ago for a waking and I was rejected, they could have mentioned that I owe them.They called me to confirm my appointment and there was no mention either, she waited until today10/28/2025. I will not come back here ever! There are thousands other offices I can visit.Good luck with your deplorable customer service team! read more

Great doctor, great staff, clean office, easy parking, long wait for appointments but completely worth the wait.

They don't care about their patients at all, they just care about getting their money if the insurance doesn't cover their services. They send you to collections without mailing any bill and they refuse to give you a appointment until the collection agency sends them a letter even though they called them to let them know that it was paid. Their staff is very rude and a don't care attitude. The Dermatologist is good and very professional but his staff it's something else. read more

I went to this Dr . He appeared very nice and concerned only for skin cancer . He would not do anything for a cosmetic concern . I have reviewed many other reviews and he treated other people cosmetic concerns such as poison. Ivy , acne . But he refused to treat my skin lesions . He said he did not want to be told what to do . He decides what to administer for my money . He decides if they are a problem for me . He said they are just going to come back . He said he was going to scar me and I told him it was ok . Why does he decide what is a problem for me when he had clearly treated other people's cosmetic problems. He never said he would not treat me because they were cosmetic but he said he would not treat them with no explaining other than only does cancer lesions. Well they bother me and I waited 2 years to have them removed and he said no with no referral anywhere. My other dermatologist is happy to zap them so it's ridiculous that I was not treated and I will be talking to my insurance co about not getting proper care for the money i pay for. Many Dr like to rip off Medicare or because they accept Medicare they give you less medical invention because they have to accept what Medicare gives them so they only give 80 % of the appointment value. Beware and may be ask before what is their policy for removing lesions that are bothersome like skin tags etc. I can't believe he does so much for acne , well other people are embarrassed the same amount for their brown spots and lesions ! When you see it that way , it's discrimination against that type of skin condition . a Dr should be sympathetic to your concerns and not judge that the lesions are something you can live with. read more

Just wanted to give an updated review to say absolutely nothing has changed at this office, it's still as amazing as ever! I needed to see the doctor and was helped by Lauren. She was super friendly and helpful and took care of my problem right away. From the time I called their office about an appointment until the time I had a prescription was probably about two hours. I mean come on, if that's not excellent service I sure don't know what is. And I just wanted to make it a point to mention that the entire staff at Dr. Jaffer's office are very kind and helpful. Most of us know it's hard enough to find an amazing doctor, and that when we do, the downside is that their staff is rude or unhelpful. But not at Boston Dermatology. This office has it all... an amazingly caring and knowledgeable doctor PLUS an excellent staff. I know I said it in my last review four years ago but it's still true today. I don't love skin problems, but I love that I have an excellent dermatologist to turn to when need be. Dr. Jaffer has maybe the best bedside manner than any other doctor I've ever encountered (and I have had too much experience with this than I care to admit!!). Most times I've had to come see him, I've come with one main concern and several other peripheral questions. UPDATE- my skin is amazing , it has changed a lot my acne has reduced I still have some scars but I'm on the treatment and it has helped me a lot. I called the office and told the receptionist I was visiting family in town and my face was having a bad reaction to something. Do they take walk ins? She answered with a rude remark as if she was insulted by the question. I asked if she took cash patients, she said yeah we do but I can't see you for at least three weeks. The Dr. wasn't even in today. The Dr better train who answers the phone as he's going to run his business to the ground. I said ok and she hung up the phone. She didn't even bother to see if I could be put on a wait list or take down my number to follow up. Nothing. I guess this office is so busy they don't need new patients. read more

Best Dermatologist I have seen. I used to see another Dermo in Glendora (Dr. Laurie Woll) and unfortunately I never saw her, only the PA.... I was treated incorrectly and was always rushed in and out of the office) Fast forward to now..... I went to see Dr. Jaffer and this was the best experience I have had meeting with a dermatologist. He spent the time explaining the issues I had and gave me proper recommendations. They even have a UVB Light Box for treatments. He gave me packets of information, free samples and walked me through the treatment. He was very honest and seemed to genuinely care about his patients. His staff was also on top of it. They were all kind and professional. The office is very clean. If you are looking for a Dermatologist, you should honestly check this place out.... read more

I've seen Dr. Jaffer maybe 3 or 4 times, and every time he still takes the time to fully explain the answers to any question I may have for him. He is very patient and doesn't make you feel that he's in a hurry or a rush like other doctors; although his schedule is always full with other patients. I've been seeing Dr. Jaffer since 2009- I think he is SO smart! I've seen him for several different things over all these years and believe his diagnosis without any doubts. He's the only dermatologist to get my acne under control permanently vs a month or two like all my past ones. You do have to make an appointment in advance because he's always booked (cuz he's so good!). I also love the office staff! All throughout my life, my acne breakouts have never eased a bit, and unfortunately for me, acne runs deep in my family. When I called the Boston Dermatology office, the receptionist was extremely helpful and informative. After I got off the phone, I felt like I finally found a cure [whether temporary or permanent] to my breakouts that I was excited and anticipating my visit. Dr. Jaffer is a very intelligent man, don't underestimate him. He's answered all of my over-analytical questions with profound detail and simplicity, that I was NOT confused at all. However, after observing how he works through a couple of visits, I realized he is a man of time. It's known that time is money, and it seems that's how it's run here. So if you want to make your time worth it, come with all of your questions ready because each visit is pricey for the average visitor. Anywho, after a quick diagnosis, I've been prescribed medication for a few months taking antibiotics daily, to doubling my dosage, to slowing down and eventually easing it off completely. Since then, I have not broke out intensely, and have been solely relying on my Tretinoin cream. My first visit was back in June/July 2013, and the initial copayment fee was $80, and each visit after that was $40. I believe they rose the price a few months after because every visit since then was $45 [I will assume initial copayment fee now is $90]. I've been more than happy ever since I visited Dr. Jaffer. I love this place. Dr. Jaffer is so awesome. He really takes his time and gives you all his attention. I have had acne is I was in 6 th grade I am now 36 and was always dealing with it. This is a TRUE doctor! He is dedicated to healing the patient not just medicating them. If all doctors were like this one, we'd have a healthier society. He will be the one I turn to for any future skin issues and will recommend him to everyone I know. Here is my long back story. I deal with several autoimmune diseases and most of my adult life I have had some sun sensitivity and would break out in a rash on my chest or arms every summer. This past August, something different happened. My entire body had intense itching and ended up braking out in blister and sores. I lived in pain for months with showers being the most painful as it felt as if I was being whacked with a wire brush. I tried to get an appointment at Boston Dermatology but he was booked for months so out of desperation, I went to a doctor at Megan Medical Clinic in December. I tried to tell him about my autoimmune diseases and rashes in the past along with how this was feeling. His comment was "I'm really not interested in chatting with you because I really think you are infested with bugs and I don't want to keep you here longer than I need to" Meaning he thought I had scabies. However, they symptoms did not equate to scabies. I left with medicine and completely depressed. I did the treatment but nothing changed and I even started to get worse. I finally decided to try Boston Dermatology again and waited until they could see me this time. I should have done this the first time. I went in completely embarrassed about my skin and still feeling shamed from the first medical encounter. The Dr. was so nice. He was kind and encouraging. I told him the diagnosis of the first doctor and he agreed that it did not look like scabies because it was not in the typical places. He gave me some medication and took a biopsy. I tired the medication but it was not working. I tried an alternative treatment which actually helped tremendously! When I went back for my follow up, I was nervous to tell him about my alternative treatment as most doctors will dismiss it and scold for not following their directions. He did not do this! Instead he asked a little about it and said that he was glad I was healing. OMG!! Yes! This is a true doctor! He wants to heal the patient regardless. Once I was given the results of the biopsy and diagnosis of my skin condition, I read a little more about it and came to find out that it can be somewhat difficult to treat so I can see why his initial treatment was not working. But I am so glad he is supportive and open minded enough to encourage healing. If I have further skin issues, this is the only doctor I will go to! read more

Best dermatologist in the area to treat teenage acne. I went to different doctors and each sent my son home with regimen of creams that did nothing. Neither doctor ever listened to help my poor son. I found Dr.Jaffer on Yelp and waited 3 long months for our appointment because he's that busy. It was so worth the wait!!! He listed thoughtfully to my son and I, and prescribed a cream and less aggressive pill to my son. Within weeks my sons face cleared up, his mood improved and he actually came out of room. Dr Jaffer is awesome! He really is all that I read on Yelp and I am very well pleased. I had to book my appointment a month and a couple weeks in advance to see him and I will tell you it was well worth the wait as i figured it would be. I am not too sure how much the cost of visit is without insurance, just give them a call I remember it being between $70 or $80, because I have insurance, they only accept PPO, my visit was covered by half that price. I have had great service over the phone with the receptionist. I did have to wait an extra 15 minutes past my appointment time when I arrived, but that is bearable, I want to receive the same care and attention as the previous visitors and so I dismiss that and see it as actually a good thing. I too felt very comfortable with my concerns and questions to ask anything with Dr. Jaffer and he explains everything to your understanding pretty well, I never felt rushed by him. I cannot wait to begin my prescriptions prescribed to me by Dr. Jaffer and hope to say more good things as a followup one day! :) read more

Boston Dermatology is a great place for your skin problems. The doctor is outstanding. My complain't is that they sent me to collections without ever notifying me. Now I have to deal with a collection agency, because they couldn't make a simple phone call or send me a statement. Now I will have to go through the Fair Billing Act to get this resolved. I just want to first start out by saying I really appreciate this doctor for being professional and having an abundance of information to explain my diagnosis to me. The reason for my visit was I had rallopecia (baldness) on a portion of my head. I thought I was doomed and hopeless as it would not grow at alll for many months almost a year of no hair. The doctor assesed me and knew right away the medication that would alleviate the symptom. After only 1-2 months-I regaiined my hair, I guess doctors can do miracles. Dr. Jaffer is amazing! I needed Moh's for skin cancer found on the side of my nose near my eye. I was extremely nervous, but Dr. Jaffer was kind, friendly and very professional. The results are beautiful, you can barely see the spot that was once a quarter sized hole in my face. Boston Dermatology is considered out of network by my health insurance, but I pay out of pocket just to be able to see Dr. Jaffer. The wait time to get an appointment is well worth it because he's so great. The office is very simple, sparse and clean, so if you want fancy go elsewhere. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I had been going here for years and have always been satisfied until my last visit. I arrived 5 minutes early, paid my copayment and waited for my appt. I was forced to wait and wait. 30 minutes later I was called in so I told the nurse very politely that I didn't appreciate having to wait. She went out and got dr jaffer and he came in with a huge attitude; the great dr is doing me a huge favor by seeing me. I did express my displeasure at having been made to wait and he suggested I find another dr. Apparently the great dr jaffer doesn't need my business. These reviews must have been written by employees and friends because this is definitely NOT the experience I had at this place. Where do I begin with all that went wrong here? WORRSEEEE STAFF AND DR. EVERRRR!!!! I came in to see the dr. Jaffer but instead got his associate Dr. Itball (or however you want to spell it) WORST DERM EVER!!!!!! She probably got her license based on good looks and family money! I paid before hand, got called in and spoke with a nurse for about 5 minutes, the doctor came in and didn't even touch my face or ask questions and examined me from across the room and gave me a general prescription. I tried to ask questions considering this is my first time ever having an skin problems so you can understand my concern. From my understanding, it does matter what cases skin problems, if it came out of no where, maybe due to foods, change in diet, etc but Dr. Itball said "no, acne is acne, and everybody goes through them and it doesn't matter what causes it. Everyone gets it in life and you just have to deal." -_- So she sat with me for less than 5 minutes, was very rude and non-courteous of my stress and concern by taking any meds. She didn't even write me a prescription but gave me a basic generic form of steps and gave me some meds they already had at the office. She said i had to wait the meds out for at least 2 months to know if they helped. Well, 2 months in my skin was MUCH WORSE on the meds and when I called in to inform them about my concern and they said well just do without the meds but do know it takes time to know if it helps and it will get worse before it gets better. I requested to see the primary doctor, Dr. Jaffer and receptionist or nurse said, Dr. Jaffer was on vacation for 3 weeks and that switching doctors will not do my any good and his going to tell me the same thing. I asked what I should do in the meantime since i am out of meds (the topical and antibotics), and she said I will just have to work with what I have. So how am i suppose to know if the meds help me if i stop medicine if they been emphasizing to keep taking it for the whole 2 months no matter what?! The nurse got irritated probably because I was trying to switch doctors and she was very rude and yelled at me and was like fine you can come in to see Dr. Itball but its not gonna help you! Thanks for nothing and 2 months wasted and $ spent on careless people who are only in it for the money and not helping patients!! I will take my business else where and will never recommend this place to anyone! THEY ARE NOT THERE TO HELP PEOPLE but only to just take your money for $5 minutes of your time! I have had two experiences with this doctor. One was for myself when I was getting really bad acne on my chin. I tried everything to get rid of it. I spent major money and I was desperate to get rid of it, because I have to present to business owners and I felt like all they kept looking at was my whiteheads on my chin. I know it's gross..& it was so raw and tender. I couldn't even touch my chin because I kept touching it. Well after 6 months, which felt like a lifetime.. I googled Dr. Jaffer's. I felt like he must be good because he went to Harvard and without a review I took a chance. I went the first time and he immediately diagnosed me. He said that it's normal for someone who hadn't gotten acne as a teen to get it as an adult and my hormones must be unbalanced. He prescribed me some sort of birth control pills that he stated would regulate my hormones and it did! My face cleared up like brand new. I took the pills and I noticed my face clearing after days. I took the pills for about 6 months and I have never taken them again and my face is still clear. My second experience was my 19 year old son. After battling acne for 5 years and clearly seeing that he wasn't happy with his face. I felt like I have to do something. My mom referred me another place called Dr. Rispler in West Covina and I took her advise. They made me pay $150.00 for a consultation, just to tell me that my son needed laser surgery. Are you kidding me? They only specialize in laser and they don't do any other types of treatments like before. He sent him home with a face wash and said come back with the $2,000. So knowing I had no insurance and I couldn't just leave my son like that .. I called Boston Dermatology to the RESCUE! My son was skeptical because we had tried so many things, drs, treatments. His skin is so sensitive. He's has major allergies, Asthma and delicate.. and I mean delicate skin. Well.. my son went in alone and he said the doctor listened to him and was explaining everything to my son. Dr. Jaffer's gave him two type of bacterial antibiotics and two lotions. Well, my son is on his first month of treatment and everyone is noticing how clear his face is. I'm so happy for him. I wish I would have done this sooner. The first visit is $80.00 cash, each follow up visit is $40.00 cash. For 2 medicines, the antibiotics at Target and the doctors visit it came out to $140.00 for our first visit.. Our next visit is in a month and it's only $40.00 plus the medicines which should be about $90.00. I have to insurance and it's still so worth it! A MUST, MUST got to doctor. Don't wait! You will get clear skin.. I promise you. Drive, run, wait the one month waiting time.. it's so worth it. :) From a serious yelper! read more

I relied on Yelp to provide me with a recommendation for a good Dermatologist in my area and so far, I am pleased! I always had clear and beautiful skin and when I hit 30, it seemed as though all of the acne I missed during my youth hit me all at once! Needless to say, I was upset and frustrated that my at-home routine was not working. When I first called Boston Dermatology, it took me a month to get in to see the doctor as a new patient. I waited the month and I am very happy that I did. When I first arrived, the staff was super friendly and I waited about 10 minutes before being shown to an exam room; once in the exam room the doctor's assistant (Linda) came in to get more information from me. At first, she seemed in a hurry but was overall friendly and to-the-point. After another minute or two, the doctor was in and immediately told Linda what he was seeing and let me know that it was fairly common for adults my age to come in with acne related issues. The doctor was very informative and went over the standard medication list that they start their patients on and was also sure to let me know that seeing results can take time; It seemed cookie cutter but I believe that they know what they are doing and rely on the follow-up appointment to better evaluate their patients. I have a follow-up appointment in a month (August, 2014) and after a little over a week in, following the doctor's instructions down to the letter, I can see dramatic results. My skin is more even toned, the blotchy redness has subsided almost completely, and I am seeing very few breakouts. I am sure that my skin is still adjusting and that my body will continue to adjust to the medication, so I will say that I plan to re-review once I have my follow-up appointment to give my fellow yelpers an idea of what to expect should they choose Boston Dermatology. Overall, I am satisfied with my experience so far and I am anxious to have my skin back to the way it used to be!! read more

Was there in June 2015. The Doctor was outstanding but front office demeanor was horrible! The way they answered my call to set the appointment was not friendly or courteous. When I showed up, it was obvious these people are not interested in their patients but in their moneys. Do not need that kind of attitude when you try to seek medical care. I have malasma for several years. I even try going to many skin lasering places etc.such as skin perfect or celebrity laser spa ..very costly $150-300 per session and it only helped a little plus it made my skin more sensitive to sun and hot heat. One day my sister told me to go see dr. Jaffer and see if he can help my malasma problem. He prescribed me cream medication and 4 months later it has totally lightened my skin and vanished most of the malasma. I'm on my second and last cream medication and my skin looks way better.. definitely recommend to go see dr. Jaffer right away and skip the pricy laser session. Dr. Jaffer is the best !!!! Had Mohs micrographic surgery for removal of basel cell tumor. Dr. Jaffer anesthetized locally and gradually removes layers of skin until the basel cell is not present. The Dr and his assistant Linda performed the procedure with great care and patience that put me at ease. Again, as I mentioned previously, Dr Jaffer as well as his staff are very clear about what they have to do and continued to keep me informed during the procedure. read more

Dr. Jaffer is the best!! You are in and out of his office. HIs prognosis is excellent and he doesn't make you undergo extra tests. He has a good eye and excellent capabilities to do a very quick and correct diagnosis. He also always suggests where you can find the medines for less cost and gives samples if he has.
