We hired Ruy and his team to do several repairs around the outside of our house. We had rotting wood around the base of our house, and our bulkhead door was leaking. We also needed replacement lattice and painting in several places to keep things looking OK until we have time and money to paint the whole house. Last fall 2022, we discovered that the railings around our 2nd floor kitchen deck were rocking and flexing. Boston Framers eye building a giant twin level deck with hot tub for a neighbor. And the quality and construction reliability was 5* throughout. So we had them quote for repairs. It turned out that our deck had been wrongly constructed resulting in wood rot in strategic places. Boston Framers remedied all this, they had to dig deep into the old construction and attach new "foundations" directly to the cantilevered frame. Then ensure they it was thoroughly waterproofed under the rubber membrane. Then rebuild the railings, deck flooring etc. Team worked really hard. Arrived on time. Delivered what was promised. And here we are a few months later, looks to me like a full 5* job. BTW, their boss is a joy to deal with. Great communicator. Rock solid business professional. We'd use them again, in a heartbeat. It literally took more than two years to find a contractor willing take this project on. Of the 40+ business I contacted, more than 30 didn't respond at all; while the 10 or so that actually did either said they were "too busy"; that they would stop by and never did; or they would take the time to meet me but never get back with a quote. Then I met Ruy.... If you look at all the pics he has posted, it's obvious he does excellent work, and it goes without saying that we are very happy with how our project turned out. We contacted Ruy regarding replacing our deck as well as a bathroom renovation. He called us back (which in itself was a small miracle) and we scheduled a time for him to look at the project. Within a week, we had a detailed estimate of the cost for both. Once we signed the contract, they started demolition on the deck literally the next day. Within a week, the deck was finished and the bathroom was underway. We had a deadline in that my husband was having hip surgery and we really needed the walk-in shower to be finished before the surgery date. Ruy 'guaranteed' that it would be done. I was skeptical, but really pleasantly surprised when the weekend before the surgery, they were there to finish everything. We had a couple of glitches along the way with having to relocate plumbing and the shower door we ordered was missing parts, but nothing that wasn't resolvable in a timely manner. And we didn't expect an entirely smooth ride, but this was about as close to a that as we have ever experienced. I would recommend Ruy and his crew without reservation. Ruy assessed my decking project and the plans, asked Carlos (his colleague) to review the project, then quoted me his cost for labor. During the following week, Carlos requested to meet at my home to discuss the project. Carlos wanted to re-negotiate the cost for his labor because he felt the scope of work changed. I was not willing to re-negotiate because they conducted their due diligence and had the plans for the deck project. I tried reaching out to Roy to clarify the misunderstanding, but Roy did not return my calls. After that interaction, I decided to hire another contractor.
