I didn't ask for this and only wanted to downsize the ring. Once she tested the ring, she didn't say anything. I asked what she was doing and she stated, "I tested the diamond to see if it was real. I asked her was it real ? She hesitantly stated, "yes". She then informed me to downsize the ring it would cost $400. A couple days later when it was not ready, I did further research and discovered I was being way overcharged. I went to the store to retrieve my ring and the women said, "We don't have it is with the Jeweler." She then immediately said wait let me double check. She then came back and handed me my ring (she appeared rather upset). I left the store and upon going to the next jewelry store, I was told it only cost $160 to downsize the ring. I told the jewler the $400 price Higham Jewlery store was charging me and he laughed and said, " Wow, I don't want to say to much but they are unbelievable." I had some jewelry to sell, some jewelry to fix, and a couple of things to buy. I shopped around…read moreand went to many highly-recommended local jewelers. Not only did Jeff at Rogers give me the best price for the jewelry I wanted to sell, but he exhibited incredibly high integrity in his processes and procedures. I was so impressed! He was above and beyond the other jewelers I went to by miles! He also took a lot of time with me even though I walked out without selling or buying anything, because I was still doing my research. So he spent almost an hour with me and got nothing out of it and was very kind about it. And when I returned a couple of days later, he was welcoming, just as helpful, and went above and beyond for me. Like I said, I did the legwork and compared him to other jewelers, and he is now my go-to jeweler. I told my husband to stop using any other jewelers and just go to Jeff at Rogers, and I would say that to anyone else. He was so honest about things he did not need to be honest about. For example, I asked him to look at the prongs on the rings that I wear every day, and he noticed that two stones in one ring are broken. But you could only tell under the microscope. But under the microscope, WOW! They are broken!!! He had, at that point, just purchased some jewelry from me, so he knew I had some money and could have very, very easily convinced me to replace those stones. Instead, he suggested I wait until one of the stones falls out and then replace both of them. There was no need to make that suggestion when he could have made money on the spot. But he did the right thing, because you cannot tell that they're broken unless you're looking under a microscope. So I was very impressed with him as a human, as a merchant, and as a quality jeweler. I would say take advantage of all the legwork I did (and we're talking about four days and many many hours of shoppinug around) and save yourself the time and just go to Jeff.

The price was below what I was quoted, and I was told early July but had the ring three weeks early. Highest recommendation for Harborlight Jewelers... great service, prices and quality. Literally YEARS... I had three bracelets and I wore one of them 9 years ago to a wedding, and I have no idea about the other two. I learned a lot about diamonds and gold while I was there, and Dave gave me some suggestions as well as a price for the others. I had no doubt that this was a good deal and there was no pressure to sell (which you may get elsewhere). I left with my money, keeping two items for now and will keep them under consideration. There is parking right out front, and they are open Monday - Saturday. Dave is great and I met his son as well, nice guys who have been doing business in Newton for decades!
