Really excellent Chinese-Vietnamese food! I tried this place for the first time a few months ago and was very much impressed. Firstly, the service here is great and very quick. The food was for sure a standout! We were a large party and order a lot of items and also ordered from the set menu. The crab and lobster was amazing, as was the shaken beef, the noodles, the shrimp, and pretty much everything. I feel this place is the place to go if you have a large dining party, because the set menu will have something that everyone can enjoy. Went there today for my Dad's birthday. Got there around 12 pm. Got in and was seated because we were the only one there. I thought it would be pack due to lunch hour. My brother order the Black bean with clams , Lobster with lo mein, French Bo Luc Lac, Fried Tilapia, Mapo Tofu, Salt And Pepper Pork, Shrimp With Egg and Vegetables. For the final item. The clam was ok not sandy. The lobster with lo mein was also ok. The French Bo Luck Lac was a little chewy. Not like some places they are soft. This place is great for shareable plates and for trying authentic Cantonese-style food! I actually really enjoyed every dish I had here, and their service is so fast and easy. I think their lunch menu is a solid deal and very well worth it forit. My absolute favorite dish of my meal would be the chicken with garlic sauce, which comes with garlic sauce-covered chicken, peppers, onions, and peanuts. The dish hit every taste bud on my tongue; it was so moist, perfectly cooked, and it just pairs so well with the rice they give you. We order the sautéed ong choy (water spinach), clams with basil sauce, and beef chow fun Hong Kong style for two. The lunch special menu also includes steamed white rice FOC and hot tea. The sautéed ong choy is perfectly stir fried and seasoned with plenty of garlic pieces. The clams with basil sauce are HUGE and once again perfectly seasoned. The beef chow fun (HK style) was a bit light on the seasoning, but tasted as expected. Overall, great value for some really good food! Portion wise, we only ordered three dishes and still had plenty of leftovers to take home. Good service, and typical Chinese restaurant ambiance. We visited at 5 pm on a Saturday, and there was no wait thankfully. For dinner, we ordered the house assorted seafood soup, shrimp with walnuts, fish fillet with salt and pepper, and beef with Chinese broccoli. By 6:30 pm, it got full inside the restaurant, so you'd get a better chance at finding a table immediately if planning to eat an early dinner. By then, it was a little loud too. We sat in a booth, so we needed to sort dishes around instead of using a rotating tray. The best dish was the shrimp with walnuts. Interestingly, it tasted a little more tangy than the other versions of this dish that I've tried before. The fish fillet with salt and pepper tasted decent. I came here the other day with my partner, and this is by far the best Boston Lobster location I've tried. Personally, I think it's much better than the Rosemead one. I've had a few experiences at Rosemead where the food didn't seem fresh (like the clams), so I was hesitant to try this location, but I'm glad I did. Overall, the food here was very good. The only dish that didn't stand out was the beef fried rice, which wasn't as good as I've had elsewhere. Everything else was solid. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken, which had nice crispy chicken, and the mapo tofu, which was very tasty, though not spicy at all, so definitely ask for extra spice if you prefer heat. Service, however, wasn't great. We went around 3 PM, and it was pretty slow...just us and a couple of other families, but it still took a long time for them to take our order, which was surprising. I'd come back for the food quality since it was decent, but the service could definitely improve. I'd give it a 4 out of 5. I will admit that I probably prefer Boston Lobster! The inside is pretty spacious and accommodates large groups in the main diving area or in the separate walled off room areas. The menu is pretty straightforward if you're used to Chinese lobster places. Everything's basically a shared dish! We got the medium lobster w noodles and it was perfect for 6 adults. We ended up taking home leftovers. Truly can't go wrong w lobster and noodles. It's an absolute must when coming here. We got the fillet fish with salt and pepper. This is nice sized crunchy fried fish that was easily shareable. The French style beef cube is a must as well. The meat pieces were pretty big but slightly chewy. I'm a fan of pea sprouts and it was a hit with our group. Probably the only vegetable we had. lol! Clams w basil sauce was yummy and the clams were a good size! We also got a plate of fried rice to share which was a good dish for the kids. It came with an assortment of different protein including pork(I think) and shrimp! Finally, got some fried tofu! Newport Seafood has some serious competition. I heard this place was started by one of the chefs from there. Similar menu to Newport Seafood but portions here were HUGE! Lobster was one of the best I've ever had. Geoduck 2 way was also excellent. Did I say the portions were huge? I ordered what I normally order in terms of number of dishes but I had to bring a lot of it home as it was impossible to finish. Seafood was fresh as expected. My only disappointment was the crispy noodles with seafood. Where is the seafood? Small shrimp and lot of fillings of veggies and imitation crab meat. Quite disappointing. But given the quality of their other dishes I don't ding them too much for that. Service was excellent. They came around and replaced our dishes frequently. Came for our friends holiday get together with our families. It was an unforgettable meal. We ordered the banquet style $728 option which came with two styles of geoduck. I have never tried geoduck any other way but sashimi style and I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty their house special was. The soup style geoduck was pretty bland. Lobster with noodles has always been my fave. The clams were a bit spicy for the kids but the adults loved them. Crab dish amazing. Pea sprouts delicious. Fried rice was meh--. Walnut shrimp good. Sea cucumber dish some pieces were hard. Ambiance was good, spacious and we were able to enjoy ourselves. They have various sizes of lobster so smaller groups can come, but I think the sweet spot is a party of at least 4 and up. There's a free parking lot. This location does take reservations but you must call ahead. Credit cards accepted. I've been a long-time regular at their Rosemead location, which is consistently delicious, so I had high expectations for this new spot. If you come here, the House Special Lobster is an absolute non-negotiable. It is a "must-have" dish, and you must add the noodles underneath. The noodles soak up all that savory, aromatic sauce from the lobster--it honestly tastes like heaven. A few other favorites that never miss: Basil Clams: Perfectly seasoned and very fresh. French Style Beef (Filet Mignon Cubes): The black pepper sauce is rich and the beef is always tender. Garlic Stir-Fried Vegetables: Any variety you choose is great; they have that perfect "wok hei" and a punchy garlic flavor. While the menu is nearly identical to Newport Seafood, I think many people (myself included) are starting to favor Boston Lobster more these days. The flavors feel a bit more refined, and the service at this new location was great despite the holiday rush. Not much to say about the ambiance - pretty mundane and it looked like the floors were incomplete. I think there might have been carpet previously and they removed it but did not replace it with any flooring except for the existing concrete. I think the design at the Rosemead location is better. Also, the private space was really more like a niche area rather than anything designated as a private room. We considered getting the 10 dish preset meal but decided to just order a la carte. Glad we did as every person in the party got to choose what they wanted to eat and each item was to our satisfaction. I think the MP for the lobster ($33 per lb) was a little high, but overall, the dishes tasted good. Every dish was well received and everyone at to their full and there were leftovers. By the time we left, the restaurant was full. It was odd staring down one menu that had a $828 banquet menu sitting next to a menu for $12.95 lunch specials. This review is for lunch specials (every day food) and not for banquet menu or lobster. The food in descending order of preference: Fried Noodle with Beef - the star of the meal. A giant rectangular brick of fried noodles, topped with a good portion of beef and baby bok choy. Sautéed Small Pea Sprout - a simple dish, but well seasoned and a reasonable amount of garlic Deep Fried Tofu - like the Chinese version of Agedashi Tofu. Lightly battered silken tofu, fried so it has some texture on the outside, but still silky smooth in the middle. Chicken with Cashew Nut - Kung Pao Chicken's non-spicy relative. Diced chicken, straw mushrooms, baby corn, carrots, snow peas, and of course cashews. Salt and Pepper Shrimp - a respectable version Beef Chow Fun Hong Kong Style (dry) - the beef was significantly underseasoned and the dish was missing that Wok Hay. Fillet Fish with Basil - flavor was ok, but for a fried dish, it was really lacking texture as it was sitting in some sauce and the fry couldn't overcome that. This used to be a Korean food joint that I liked but apparently wasn't popular enough for this area after COVID hit. This was my second time back and the food does not disappoint! The food at Boston Lobster is better than anything you can get in the OC so I'm willing to make the trek here just for the food. They have a very extensive menu so we decided to try a few new items. We really enjoyed the deep fried tofu and the dipping sauce as well as the Thai basil fish. Both were very tasty and I would definitely get them again. I was also very impressed with the fried noodles with beef. Extra crunchy noodles and tasty toppings.
