Came here to check out the lunch special menu. There were plenty of open seating and we were able to be seated very quickly. The lunch special menu has some great deals! We order the sautéed ong choy (water spinach), clams with basil sauce, and beef chow fun Hong Kong style for two. The lunch special menu also includes steamed white rice FOC and hot tea. The sautéed ong choy is perfectly stir fried and seasoned with plenty of garlic pieces. The clams with basil sauce are HUGE and once again perfectly seasoned. The beef chow fun (HK style) was a bit light on the seasoning, but tasted as expected. Overall, great value for some really good food! Portion wise, we only ordered three dishes and still had plenty of leftovers to take home. Good service, and typical Chinese restaurant ambiance. Definitely will come back to check out their other lunch specials and as well as their lobster dishes. Considering how many Chinese eateries in the area, it's worth checking it out. We visited at 5 pm on a Saturday, and there was no wait thankfully. For dinner, we ordered the house assorted seafood soup, shrimp with walnuts, fish fillet with salt and pepper, and beef with Chinese broccoli. By 6:30 pm, it got full inside the restaurant, so you'd get a better chance at finding a table immediately if planning to eat an early dinner. By then, it was a little loud too. We sat in a booth, so we needed to sort dishes around instead of using a rotating tray. The best dish was the shrimp with walnuts. Interestingly, it tasted a little more tangy than the other versions of this dish that I've tried before. The fish fillet with salt and pepper tasted decent. Even with a light peppery flavor, I didn't have any issues with it lacking seasoning. The beef with Chinese broccoli was good too with soft slices of meat. I came here the other day with my partner, and this is by far the best Boston Lobster location I've tried. Personally, I think it's much better than the Rosemead one. I've had a few experiences at Rosemead where the food didn't seem fresh (like the clams), so I was hesitant to try this location, but I'm glad I did. Overall, the food here was very good. The only dish that didn't stand out was the beef fried rice, which wasn't as good as I've had elsewhere. Everything else was solid. We ordered the Kung Pao chicken, which had nice crispy chicken, and the mapo tofu, which was very tasty, though not spicy at all, so definitely ask for extra spice if you prefer heat. Service, however, wasn't great. We went around 3 PM, and it was pretty slow...just us and a couple of other families, but it still took a long time for them to take our order, which was surprising. I'd come back for the food quality since it was decent, but the service could definitely improve. I'd give it a 4 out of 5. We ended up taking home leftovers. Truly can't go wrong w lobster and noodles. It's an absolute must when coming here. We got the fillet fish with salt and pepper. This is nice sized crunchy fried fish that was easily shareable. The French style beef cube is a must as well. The meat pieces were pretty big but slightly chewy. I'm a fan of pea sprouts and it was a hit with our group. Probably the only vegetable we had. lol! Clams w basil sauce was yummy and the clams were a good size! If there's a zero star, I would give this one a zero. They are not accommodating, no sense of good service. I booked a party of 9, then added more people so total of 10 with a baby. I requested if we can move with a bigger table, they declined to sit us and if we want to sit at a bigger table then we are required to order at least $500 amount of food. Newport Seafood has some serious competition. I heard this place was started by one of the chefs from there. Similar menu to Newport Seafood but portions here were HUGE! Lobster was one of the best I've ever had. Geoduck 2 way was also excellent. Did I say the portions were huge? I ordered what I normally order in terms of number of dishes but I had to bring a lot of it home as it was impossible to finish. Seafood was fresh as expected. My only disappointment was the crispy noodles with seafood. Where is the seafood? Small shrimp and lot of fillings of veggies and imitation crab meat. Quite disappointing. But given the quality of their other dishes I don't ding them too much for that. Service was excellent. They came around and replaced our dishes frequently. Came here for dinner with my family (total of 6) and cost about $350 for a medium sized lobster + garlic noodles, steamed veggies, white rice, and Mongolian beef (plus alcohol). They have various sizes of lobster so smaller groups can come, but I think the sweet spot is a party of at least 4 and up. There's a free parking lot. If you come here, the House Special Lobster is an absolute non-negotiable. It is a "must-have" dish, and you must add the noodles underneath. The noodles soak up all that savory, aromatic sauce from the lobster--it honestly tastes like heaven. A few other favorites that never miss: Basil Clams: Perfectly seasoned and very fresh. French Style Beef (Filet Mignon Cubes): The black pepper sauce is rich and the beef is always tender. Garlic Stir-Fried Vegetables: Any variety you choose is great; they have that perfect "wok hei" and a punchy garlic flavor. While the menu is nearly identical to Newport Seafood, I think many people (myself included) are starting to favor Boston Lobster more these days. Not much to say about the ambiance - pretty mundane and it looked like the floors were incomplete. I think there might have been carpet previously and they removed it but did not replace it with any flooring except for the existing concrete. I think the design at the Rosemead location is better. Also, the private space was really more like a niche area rather than anything designated as a private room. We considered getting the 10 dish preset meal but decided to just order a la carte. Glad we did as every person in the party got to choose what they wanted to eat and each item was to our satisfaction. I think the MP for the lobster ($33 per lb) was a little high, but overall, the dishes tasted good. Every dish was well received and everyone at to their full and there were leftovers. This review is for lunch specials (every day food) and not for banquet menu or lobster. The food in descending order of preference: Fried Noodle with Beef - the star of the meal. A giant rectangular brick of fried noodles, topped with a good portion of beef and baby bok choy. Sautéed Small Pea Sprout - a simple dish, but well seasoned and a reasonable amount of garlic Deep Fried Tofu - like the Chinese version of Agedashi Tofu. Lightly battered silken tofu, fried so it has some texture on the outside, but still silky smooth in the middle. Chicken with Cashew Nut - Kung Pao Chicken's non-spicy relative. Diced chicken, straw mushrooms, baby corn, carrots, snow peas, and of course cashews. Salt and Pepper Shrimp - a respectable version Beef Chow Fun Hong Kong Style (dry) - the beef was significantly underseasoned and the dish was missing that Wok Hay. Fillet Fish with Basil - flavor was ok, but for a fried dish, it was really lacking texture as it was sitting in some sauce and the fry couldn't overcome that. This is the seafood comfort food that families love to enjoy on special events and holidays. They have a very extensive menu so we decided to try a few new items. We really enjoyed the deep fried tofu and the dipping sauce as well as the Thai basil fish. Our table was at the back in the corner so it was away from the main dining, it was like we have a quiet place to ourselves. After looking thru the menu, we picked the $458 set meal that has 10 dishes including soup and fried rice. After ordering, the server informed us that clams were not available, so we changed it to steamed oyster. But later, they told us oysters were not available anymore.
