As I was driving into the parking lot late at night, I remembered the 14 presumed witches, five warlocks, and six other people who were killed or died in the area 334 years ago. Back then, Peabody was part of Salem, where witches were believed to have operated unrestrained for several years. Today, the bright, elegant lighting in the hotel lobby makes guests feel comfortable and at home from the moment they cross the threshold. The rooms are spacious, and the several simultaneous catering events, along with the large number of families dressed for a wedding, are a testament to the hotel's popularity. The Sophia Restaurant serves quality breakfasts with good coffee, fresh fruit, and real scrambled eggs. Guests can also request a made-to-order omelet. On the downside, the bagels were comparable to those found at lower-tier Marriott brands; perhaps it is time for an upgrade. The restaurant is elegantly decorated, and even if you choose the buffet, you can spend more time at your table talking with your companions or enjoying the view because the coffee is served to you. Stayed at the Boston Marriott Peabody and had a great overall experience. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with plenty of parking which makes things easy. There's a restaurant on-site, a member lounge, and even a Starbucks, which is super convenient. The hotel could use some updating, but it's still a reliable and comfortable place to stay. We booked this hotel @ a week out I am a Marriott Bovoy Member, senior citizen, and AAA member with that you get discounts $ but it was still $318.00 dollars a night they has a buffet breakfast it wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst it was $25.00 dollars each plus tax and tip$ they had a pool very COLD no hot tub....my girlfriend likes to take bubble baths we noticed they did not have a bathtub in the room ? we found out later some rooms have bathtubs some don't we wish we knew earlier. read more

You had a beautiful King Rome, and they treated us like gold. The restaurant was delicious. The drinks were yummy and no one bothered us. The pool water was nice and lukewarm. Stayed here two nights for a nearby wedding. Hotel is fine, typical. What moves them from a 3 to a 4 is the quiet hours sign at the elevators. And, it really was quiet! There were at least 4 wedding parties in the hotel the nights we were there (as noted by all the guest gift bags at reception) and we didn't hear a peep at night. With all the wedding parties in the building, it was a crazy scene at the bar on Friday night. Wow. Not rowdy, just a lot of people milling about. Starbucks in the lobby is a nice touch but it is majorly slow and it really needs to open earlier than 7am, even on the weekends. Rooms were fine and quite large. Very good parking. This hotel isn't really near restaurants or Dunks so be ready to travel for food or convenience store. read more

Stayed there one night for a friend's wedding last month. Check in was easy (which was appreciated as it was late at night) and the room was spacious and clean with a comfortable bed. (it was a large donation to win it for this charity., I have no beef with that) I called and spoke to someone on the phone and kept repeating the terms of the stay. They did not connect me with anyone special & they took down the information. That person said they put a note in the booking when I arrived., the escape package certificate for one night stay was not honored. By the hotel staff on duty. I stayed at this Marriott while in town for a job interview. I appreciated how quiet it was on a weeknight and how friendly the front desk staff were. There is a restaurant/lounge area on the first floor for dinner or drinks. The rooms were spacious and had very comfortable beds. Location wise, it was close to everywhere I needed to go and plenty of food options. Unfortunately I was only in town for less than a day but should I return, I would stay again at the Boston Marriott Peabody. read more

One of the best Marriott's we've ever stayed at. The Staff we're extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and super comfortable. One of the best additions was the laundry room, but the star of the show was the lobby bar and restaurant. Our bartender for the majority of our stay was Betsy. There was a mouse in my room!!! Sitting on the bed watching TV and a mouse comes running between the two beds and then underneath it. So disgusting and unsanitary I packed my stuff and immediately to the front desk and left. I was told I would get a refund and still haven't received it. read more

Witchy book fair & ball going on. So rather entertaining but an unorganized mess in the lobby. Not only is my account marked in preferences, I had made additional request with reservation for extra towels, BUT instead to only have one bath towel in the whole room that was reserved for two people. The price gouge jump due to book fair made it $600 a night while $200 on another. I get it. But I've also been a loyal customer for decades. With the incredible & often rewarding growth of Marriott, I truly hope the quality doesn't keep dropping because of it. Staff was just.. absent. For $200. You get what you pay for. $600... rather not stare at a dumpster; but at least that lessens my appetite than cannot be filled late-night. I stayed here for 1 night during the week with my brother who came down from Maine. It was $269 plus tax. The room was well appointed, had 2 double beds, a refrigerator, coffeemaker and a nice big tv. It offered free internet, however, you needed to be a member of their free club Bon something, got a membership number, and away we went. It did take us sometime to figure it out but eventually we did. Otherwise you can pay like $14.95 for 1 day. No way was I doing that. Here is my big issue and I did talk to the hotel manager. When you google the name of the Marriot, you don't get "The Marriot" you get another website so be very careful. As shown in the picture I took, it offers a free breakfast. NOT TRUE. They offer breakfast.... For $22.95!!!! Maybe it's me, I want the little bottles back. Who knows who has been there before or touched the pump or how long the shampoo has been in the container. I stayed at this property the first week of January for a family wedding nearby. The first thing I'll say is that this property is very dated. If you're looking for a modern, updated property you should head downtown to The W. The property was clean and well kept up with. Despite being dated, it wasnt falling apart or dirty which I think is a huge plus because usually those things go hand in hand. The staff and front desk was friendly and confirmed my upgrade before I arrived. I was upgraded to a massive suite on the third floor with a living room, bedroom, like four sinks, a dining room area, etc. It was huge and a great bonus. I didnt get a chance to eat at the restaurant as I was on a tight timeline. There is a lounge on the property but its closed on the weekend. Per Marriot policy, I should get breakfast in the restaurant as a Platinum guest but I cant speak to if that was available. In all, no complaints. Id stay again. read more

I've stayed in Airbnb's the past four years going to Salem in October. However, this year because of COVID, I opted for a hotel. This one is only 10 mins from downtown Salem, so it's a very quick and easy drive. The front desk staff was incredibly welcoming. My friends and I called to ask for extra bath towels, and they arrived very quickly. Our room was very clean. We couldn't hear other neighbors nearby, which was nice. Although it was a hefty price for October ($450 for 3 nights) it was a very pleasant experience and I would like to return again! read more

Overall great stay. As others have mentioned, this hotel is in the middle of no where and the front desk attendant exclaimed that the hotel is utilized strictly for business. It's okay though, many hotels are situated in secluded locations. This hotels was a great get away for us. Check in was fast and efficient, and they have a small store adjacent to the front desk. The rooms was comfy. The bed was extremely Comfortable and we got a much needed full nights rest. The television was the largest TV I've seen in a hotel and there is an option to log into Netflix. This hotel, Jessica P. the assistant rooms op manager specifically, went above and beyond for us. Upon arrival, my reservation (through Chase travel) could not be found. After sitting on hold with Chase for over 30 mins of wait time, Jessica went ahead and gave us an upgraded room at a lower price than Chase travel had offered. She was professional, kind and understanding. She also offered us some suggestions on nearby places to visit. The hotel was clean, staff was accommodating and friendly, parking was free, as well as food and drinks were not ridiculously overpriced. I feel like we made the right choice with the abundant amount of options available in the area. If we visit again, this will be the hotel of our choice, no question about it. read more

Had to stay here (we're locals, but lost power for a couple of days during a storm and needed electricity/WIFI) and we have two 50+ pound dogs so it wasn't easy finding a place that was accommodating. This place was great. Gave us a pet-friendly room on the first floor (which we requested) that had an exit close to their dog relief area so it was very easy for potty breaks. Room was clean, large, and I found the beds to be comfortable. staff was friendly. Being on route 1 isnt ideal, but you know what youre getting into when you book. bonus: if you stay here, santarpios pizza is very close! read more

I was really surprised by the high rating of this place... at first glance it's pretty nice. But then it went down hill quick. The beds were terrible. Squeaky and hard. The rooms were bland, though, thankfully, clean. TV remote barely worked. But the heat/AC did its job and the fan was a nice faint white noise. There was a wedding going on and the guest got ROWDY. Running up down the hallways and what sounded like playing leap frog the level above us. We didn't fall asleep until well after 1am. I actually got scared at one point because of how loud they were outside our door. As 3 women staying for a girls' weekend, the last thing we wanted was to be fearful at 1 in the morning. The restaurant is not open from 11a-6p, bar isn't open at all until 6p, which is annoying. More annoying? They charge you for everything in the morning. Coffee? $2. Breakfast? $20. The days of free continental breakfast are gone. The concierge was rude at check out, though she was very pleasant the day before during check in. She never asked how our stay was or anything except how I wanted my receipt. For over $250/night, I won't be staying here again. Which is a shame because it's easy access to the highway and only a 10min Uber to Salem. read more

I don't vibe with downtown hotels in any US city well: they've gotten briskly busy, full of business travelers (makes sense), loud and am unimpressed with the value re general accommodations and services. With this much traffic, I don't feel relaxed and 'nest-y' when staying in downtown hotels. Not for me. Really...the only time one should stay in a downtown hotel is if you have one or two days and as a tourist or a short biz trip. Enter Boston Marriott Peabody. While it may take 20+ minutes into downtown by car, I don't mind driving to an accessible El-stop and navigate my way through downtown on foot or Uber. Plus staying outside of downtown hotels give you a better flavor of how locals live and stores are generally cheaper. You get so see so much more of any city and vibe with the locals at every turn. I'd rather spend money on dining and wine than accommodations. But wait. I paid 1/3 of the price of a regular downtown hotel at the Marriott Peabody. Huge savings over $200 a night almost $700 during my stay. This location is a typical Marriott so the pluses are noticeable compared to other Marriott brands like the Courtyard, Fairfield, Residence Inns. Its their second tier brand to JW Marriott so the value for what you get is stellar. Parking is free here. I typically get a free upgrade but they were out of upgrade rooms. That's really the only negative I can offer. Otherwise, the room was spotless, TV is a little old but that's minor. I love lightly starched and pressed sheets (I loved my freshly made bed with starched sheets, when I was growing up). And that made the experience for me. The room is standard Marriott, free water, nice room. Will stay here again. Visits: 1 of 3 nights Tip: Free parking. Club Floor serves snacks, breakfast, happy hour, Monday - Friday! read more

After a long flight and finally getting our rental car, we arrived at the Marriott Hotel. It was about 2am on a Thursday. The front desk guy who checked us in had the personality of a rock. We reserved a king room with down pillows and ended up in a room with two full size beds and foam pillows. The front desk guy said there was not any available rooms as they were completely sold out and so we are out of luck until the next day. The following day we were very busy with family and friends at an engagement party so we did not ask to move rooms. On Friday, we left the hotel at 9am, took off our privacy sign and asked for down pillows to be brought to our room. We were just going to stay in the room if we could have decent pillows. We walked back in our room to a pile of 4 foam pillows stacked near the tv and our room hadn't been cleaned at all. After calling down and asking to speak to the manager (Janice), she immediately moved us to a king size room with down pillows. At least the next several days will be comfortable. The hotel is pretty much in the middle of nowhere and is in dire need of an update. Oh and the cleaning of our room yesterday was laughable. The sheets and blankets were just laid on the bed. They were not tucked in. There was no sense of pride or care when cleaning our room. We booked the Marriott because we generally have had good experiences staying in this chain hotel. The only reason for two stars versus one is the promptness of getting the situation resolved by the manager. The rooms also do not have safes in them so your option is to take your items with you when you leave or to the front desk. This hotel was not a bargain and I would not recommend it under any circumstance. read more

The Marriott was convenient for my work trip but I probably would not pick it if I had booked s it for myself only because it was not walkable. Without a vehicle I had to rely on delivery options. That being said, it was a very nice hotel with great staff. I ate several meals at the bar. The options are on the pricier side but to be expected at this type of hotel. The bar was comfortable and well stocked. My room was very comfortable and large. I stayed for two weeks and it covered all the things I would need. I used the desk and it was just right for working at and playing my video games in spare time. The room staff provided everything I needed when I wanted it. I was on the fourth floor but never had to wait long for a elevator and had no problem navigating the hall. I did not use any of the facilities but there was a pool and gym available. No free breakfast included so again, a little more has to spend if you stay here. Another reason I would have picked another place if I had transportation and options. read more

I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks for work, which served it purpose so i have no complaints there. there is literally nothing around the hotel so i ordered food delivery a couple of times. the hotel is a bit dated. the first week i stayed in a room that was clearly wasn't occupied for a long while. I found a small spider under the covers on one of the beds. Luckily it was a room with two beds so I most definitely did not sleep on the one with a spider. The second week I stayed in another room and there was a fly in that room. I had to run around and kill it before it eats my food. While I understand that it is impossible to not have any insects in a hotel surrounded by trees, it wasn't the best experience. I had access to breakfast at the lounge. very limited: no hot breakfast food, just bread, yogurt, cereal etc. i know many hotels have limited their options due to covid. read more

Do not stay here! They have poor air quality systems that do not ever deliver fresh air like other hotels. The units in the rooms are recirculating systems only and poorly maintained. The windows are all permanently sealed. We changed rooms and it still smelled off. I wouldn't want anyone with breathing issues to stay here. And the food is expensive. I'd recommend anywhere else for all food even breakfast. read more

This Marriott is in a great location, its just off I-95 and only 10-15 minutes from downtown Salem. The beautiful Lobby and Restaurant/Bar area is newly remodeled, the rooms are in need of remodeling to meet the standards that the Lobby and Restaurant have been brought up to. The staff was very friendly and always willing to help when you had a question or a need. I would like to commend Donna in the Concierge lounge for being the best concierge tenant that I have met. She went out of her way to greet us and talk with us, making us feel comfortable, always taking care of us every night we went to the lounge. PROS: Great service and close to Highway and Salem CONS: Rooms and Bathrooms are needing upgrade. Time to get rid of the old bath showers and invest in Rain Showers and nice fixtures. read more

This hotel was great! We were visiting Boston and Salem and this hotel was the perfect distance between both for an affordable price compared to other areas. The room itself was a good size and very clean. The hotel staff was super friendly and helpful. About a 15 minute Uber drive to Salem cost us about $24 total there and back. From Boston, it's about a 30 minute drive, which we took our car since there was a lot of parking around Boston. There was not a lot of parking around Salem which is why I recommend just taking an Uber! read more

I would love to give a 5 star review but can't. Here are the reasons why Our room was booked for 3 people. The pull out couch into a bed had no pillow or sheets and so of course wasn't made up. Again it was booked for 3 people and there were towels for only 2 people. We also used the pool and jacuzzi area which had so much chlorine that we couldn't stay longer than 15 minutes. The irritant was getting out of the pool, there were no towels to dry off. My husband who hadn't gone swimming went to the front desk 3 times asking for towels over a 20 minute period, my daughter and I were left standing there freezing for 20 min until a woman strolled in with 5 towels, 2 of which we grabbed. So the other 8 people in the pool ... good luck. The room was very nice and clean and the hotel staff were very pleasant at all times. read more

This place was a good stay for a last minute trip to Salem in October. The breakfast was good, and the pool/sauna was kept nice. The hot tub wasn't burning hot. I felt they could have added our Bonvoy points for our stay, but they wouldn't bc I booked it on Expedia. They also didn't have the king size bed I requested available so we ended up with double beds that we pushed together. Otherwise, place was nice and is close to Salem for the Haunted Happening's, and it's less than 10 min to the Northshore Mall with shopping and familiar places to eat. read more
