BBQ Sticky Ribs - Entree (Ribs, Baked Beans, Mashed Potatoes, Corn)

An old historic mansion turned into a restaurant, inn, and tavern. The decor is beautiful! The food is pretty good and there are several options for everyone's taste. I have been to The Bell Inn & Tavern a few times, and have tried different dishes. The popovers are nice and fresh. Every dish I've tried has lots of flavor, some are heavier than others so you may find yourself leaving with a to-go container! They have various ticketed events and themed brunches. They also have live music, which I saw on an events calendar on Wednesdays. Service was friendly and attentive.

This place is pretty nice. We had a unique experience at first, but I'll explain. We showed up juuuust before the restaurant closed, which was no problem at all. We got access to our room right away. As soon as we got up to the 2nd floor, the hallway by our room smelled like garbage juice. Upon opening the door, it smelled like I decided to take a ride down the Sewage Waterpark PooPoo Slide. We went down, and I talked to the person whom checked us in and let her know. She got us a new room IMMEDIATELY. No questions asked other than for a description of the smell and whatnot. So either this is a common issue that isn't questioned, or they just trusted us enough not to question. Either way, I'm not upset. The room we were given was definitely nice, lovely view, nice shower. Pillows are huuuuuuge. Very comfortable bed, oh and no TJ River smell. The restaurant is exceptional as well. I had a Reuben on Marbled Rye. The bread was delish, meat was on point. My only "complaint" is that there could have been more sauce. The salad was fresh as hell too. This place is great, excellent service, great food, comfy rooms, oh and PARKING LOT THAT DOESN'T CHARGE. That itself a star.

Speakeasy- now here's a fun spot. Music, Comedy and great food count me in..We went yesterday for a Comedy show ($10). The ambience, the crowd and the comedians fulfilled my night. In addition, the scallop plate special was out of this world. Came with a pumpkin and asparagus. I don't even like pumpkin but this dish was so delicious. Tuna was so fresh and calamari crunchy and cooked to perfection. I will definitely be going back for there fun filled events.

The Bell Inn & Tavern Peabody https://www.bellinnpeabody.com/ boneless chicken tenders - honestly I think they can put out a better product than this. Just my humble opinion. baked haddock - outstanding. fresh. delicious. perfectly prepared. anyone who likes baked haddock needs to try this. I give it my highest recommendation. Hawaiian chicken sandwich - Dad gave this his highest approval. It has grilled chicken breast, smoked ham, crispy bacon, pineapple chutney, mozzarella cheese all on a fresh brioche bun. in a nutshell I'd absolutely return here and I highly recommend that everyone do the same!

Wonderful stay. The staff could not have been nicer. The room was small but it's an inn. Remember that. The building is gorgeous. Free parking in an adjacent property. Great restaurant on site with delicious food. Bar was helmed by Brian. He was great. Had a late night drink in "the cellar" which was super cool. Thanks!

Back then, Peabody was part of Salem, where witches were believed to have operated unrestrained for several years. Today, the bright, elegant lighting in the hotel lobby makes guests feel comfortable and at home from the moment they cross the threshold. The rooms are spacious, and the several simultaneous catering events, along with the large number of families dressed for a wedding, are a testament to the hotel's popularity. The Sophia Restaurant serves quality breakfasts with good coffee, fresh fruit, and real scrambled eggs. Guests can also request a made-to-order omelet. On the downside, the bagels were comparable to those found at lower-tier Marriott brands; perhaps it is time for an upgrade. The restaurant is elegantly decorated, and even if you choose the buffet, you can spend more time at your table talking with your companions or enjoying the view because the coffee is served to you. There is also a small but well-equipped executive lounge on the sixth floor, offering an expansive view of the city.

They're doing renovations on the entire building, and the only acknowledgement to guests is a little card in the room saying "BIG NEWS! No EV charging available, but free overnight parking. Appearances wise, the rooms are slightly newer/nicer than the Hampton inn next door. In reality, you can see how dated this hotel is: the corner pipe paint is peeling off, slow toilet flush, tub is updated, etc. I talked to the hotel and they do a refresh every 8-9 years. I think this hotel has been around for 30 years and it is the oldest hotel amongst the three: Hampton inn, homewood suites, and springhill suites. Breakfast selection changes on a daily basis, but it is essentially the same as the Hampton Inn next door. I wonder if they run the same menu on a daily basis with slight variation. Public bathroom is also located on the first floor if you need to use it. Nice lobby area. If you need anything like extra towels or trash bag, you have to go downstairs and ask from the receptionist. I don't think they have enough staff to send stuff to your room. Love the fact that the room has pots, pans, plates, utensils, dishwasher, etc for convenient kitchen needs.

Great location--right in the center. Two things of note--we stayed on the 6th floor, room 622. The 6th floor is the pet-friendly floor (we didn't have any pets), and my husband opened the door to get ice and there was a mini Doberman pinscher (cute!) desperate to get in our room. Then the owner came around the corner and could not figure out why he wanted to get in our room so bad. My husband went in search of the ice and saw the couple with the dog was staying in the room that would be exactly parallel to ours on the other side. I had a great sleep. Husband did as well except around 3 or so he was awoken to a hard poking several times on his shoulder. He said I was dead asleep and facing away so it was not me. We are both FAR from superstitious and don't believe in ghosts etc, so his mind went to someone broke in--but everything was locked up quite securely. He even checked under the bed! After the fact we found out about its ghost stories with specifically the 6th floor--specifically room 612. Again we were room 622, so does 612 (with the doggie) mirror ours? Other people have also mentioned getting poked as well, which we again didn't see about the hotel till after. So between the desperate dog and the poke, probably nothing--but most creeped out I've been in a while!! (Not so creeped out that we wouldn't go back!)

The lady who is working, the Front Desk has short gray hair and was very rude and obviously did not care about a guest at this hotel. If a guest is lost, wouldn't it be the right thing to do by assisting them instead of complaining about a loss elderly guest who was a retired school teacher? When other people in the hotel were leaving, the same lady was talking to another lady about the guest and talking about how rude they were and how much they were drinking, though when I was there, I did not witness any of this. Pros: - very comfy bed…read more- cruelty free toiletries available in the shower and bathroom, various herbal / fresh citrus scents that were not too strong - very friendly front desk staff that accommodated our needs around check out - we were able to keep luggage with them for many hours after check out and extend our parking time for no fee. The woman who checked us in was very friendly and gave us a tour of the common areas - entrances are locked to the public and secured with a password for extra safety - our room was big - I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offer Nespresso coffees with lots of fix ins available (even dairy free milk in the fridges!), grab and go snacks like Himalayan Gold popcorn and flavored almond mixes, and fresh made more substantial snacks like a chia seed pudding with coconut flakes and pineapple that was so good, I had it twice! Also available at any time in the fridges were Apple streussel yogurt parfaits and hard boiled eggs. Chocolate chip cookies are baked throughout the day. - nicely decorated lounge area on first floor and deck patio space - you are able to leave items in a designated shared refrigerator space in the kitchenette on the first floor, a clever solution to no fridges in the rooms (at least not in mine). The thought of a communal, unmentioned fridge with strangers did give me pause though, but it's nice they offer it. Room for improvement: - I understand I came in a heat wave and summer is not prime season in Salem, but the room was so warm. The air conditioning would not go below 67° setting, but the real room temp was always much higher according to the thermostat (this morning it was 76!) I was sweating and had a hard time sleeping. They gave us a box fan when we asked if the AC could go any lower...I wasn't even sure it was on....and that helped a little but still wasn't enough. Please let people turn down the temp so they can sleep without waking up sweaty! The AC units also made a decently loud bubbling noise - this seems to be in a part of town near where an unhoused group of people hangs out. To walk to the off site parking lot, which was not far away at all thankfully, you have to walk through a big park full of many unhoused people, some begging or shouting. It made me feel a bit unsafe and I wasn't thrilled to leave my car in an area of town like that. Head's up. On our last day here, there was also a seemingly unhoused woman hanging out on the front steps of the hotel's (beautiful!) lawn for many hours. At one point when we walked by, she was starting to get aggressive and shout at people walking by. - the bar in the lounge area, prominently featured on their website, is non functional as they do not have a liquor license, which would have been a nice place to enjoy a cocktail - the tvs have lots of streaming apps advertised on the TV main screen, but none are logged in to the hotel's account. I guess that's standard in some cases, but it felt frustrating to not be able to watch a lot of what was shown to us. - not the hotel's fault, just a product of the location (which was otherwise very convenient and centrally located!), but there were loud cars with booming stereos driving by at all hours of the night on a weekday that occasionally woke me up. - the lot they let you park in temporarily while you unload luggage, while a nice gesture and made moving bags much easier, is very tight and took quite a few maneuvers to be able to get out of. - there's really only one heavy duty lock on the door, but overall the closing mechanism felt very lightweight and I didn't have a ton of confidence in it. We were only given one key for two people staying in one room. Overall, the location and service were nice, but the temp issue was pretty hard to get past since it made me feel so stifled. The snacks came in handy more than once, but for the price, I'd look around at other locations before automatically coming back here, I imagine you could find something cheaper that isn't on the fringes of a sketchy neighborhood. It is right next to Hauswitch, which was one of my favorite shops in all of the many, many options in town, so that's a plus, but they really need a better AC system for summer guests. Thank you for a cozy stay other than that and for such welcoming treatment!

"Sweet things from Boston So young and willing…read moreShe thinks I'm crazy But I'm just growin' old" (Steely Dan) Our first impression of the hotel was far from stellar. We arrived before noon and were hopeful our room was available, which it wasn't. We figured we'd use the hotel for a pit stop, sit in the lobby to plan a day trip to Marblehead, and then check in later in the day. After my wife asked the registration desk for directions to, and then visited the ladies room, she told the desk that the restroom was out of paper, and the clerk said "oh yeah, I know." Wow... would it have been too much to mention that before she went in? So after that bit of uncomfortableness, we sat down at a table near the coffee machine and saw most of the tables needed a good cleaning--there were straw wrappers and spilled sugar everywhere. After we did find a clean table, we did see maintenance come over and start working on the tables. Our room was fine- big enough to relax in with a couch, a comfy bed, a nice work desk and a totally adequate bath and shower. On the minus side, the walls are thin, so you might hear your neighbors, and you might hear the traffic roaring by on Route One, which pretty much abuts the hotel property. The included breakfast was very good with a nice assortment of the usual hot and cold items. No complaints about breakfast. Parking is free and there are plenty of spots available. So all in all, once we checked in we had a decent stay here with no further complaints. PRO TIPS 1 - We entered the hotel property from the left lane of Route One on a pretty sharp approach, so be diligent and be careful if that is the way you're getting there. 2 - There is a fantastic Italian restaurant (Marco's) within a few hundred feet at 47 Newbury Street
