I am so happy I found Boston Threading. My friend highly recommended this place and her eyebrows are so nice all the time. A few years ago, I had a bad experience with threading my eyebrows (not at Boston Threading) so I was really hesitant to try it again. I've been tweezing and trimming my own eyebrows for a while and they were in desperate need of help. I saw a Groupon for $10 for $15 so I gave it a shot. I stopped by around noon on a Saturday and there were 3-4 people waiting. The space is pretty small but very clean and organized.The threading only took a few minutes and she was very friendly and skilled. This place is okay, but I wouldn't give it 5 stars. It was no better than the place in Cambridgeside Galleria. I let my brows grow out a lot after an incident and came here to get them re-shaped. The woman (I don't want to shame her but she has a lot of rave reviews below, no clue why) said she had absolutely no problem giving me the shape I asked for, but she didn't!!!! Even my coworker who recommended me there said, yeah she totally did not do that. The only reason I don't give less stars is because they don't look bad. They were very nicely shaped, just exactly what I didn't want. It's very disappointing to go around looking unkempt for that long for nothing. I have a significant arch to my brow and I asked if she could make them more C-shaped. If you are sitting there thinking it can't be done, yes it can. My brows are that wide/thick. Other brow beauticians that live no where near here (or I would go to them) have done it. The person has to envision that shape, even draw it if needed, first and forget the shape that's there. They have walk-ins and the wait time is generally 0-10 minutes which is great for the service received. The ladies there are really sweet and do a really good job for what it's worth. I gave it 4 and not 5 stars because i would've preferred for the lady to stick to my request of only cleaning up my brows, instead of shaping it... I lost some volume because of that. Ranju was sweet and considerate, and she gave me advice about how to refine my eyebrow game (who even knew?). I moved to Cambridge from India a month back and was searching for a place to get my eye brow threaded. I had shortlisted two places to try before which I came across BOSTON THREADING in yelp. It had very good reviews. I definitely wanted to give it a try. I first looked at Harvard square branch and heard Ranju would be there only on Sunday and Tuesday.I decided to go there on a Sunday. Then realized that they opened a new branch in downtown crossing. This place is vey near to the T. I was quite reluctant to go initially as its a new place but definitely worth it. This was my first time EVER going to get my eyebrows threaded. In fact it was the first time I'd ever gone to get anything done to my eyebrows. Prior to this I had always used tweezers to get any unruly strays. I naturally have very full, dark brows. (Think Hermione) and I like them very much to stay on the fuller side. I just wanted to clean it up a bit and give it a more defined shape. First of all- Location. Make sure you go in through the doors that are right across from the 'Gold Clock' standing on the side walk. You go up the elevators and a take a right and you'll see Boston just a couple shops down to the left. It's small and very clean. Ranju and another associate greeted me right on arrival and were incredibly friendly. I was very fortunate and got Ranju to do my eyebrows. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I told Ranju it was my first time and that I just wanted to clean up my brows. She made a point to let me know that if at any point the pain was too much to let her know and we could take a break. Fortunately for her I have a fairly high pain tolerance so my eyes just watered a bit. The whole time was very casual- we just chit chatted and before I knew it- we were done. 10 minutes maybe. After coming home and looking in the mirror upclose- I couldn't believe it. There wasn't a single stray. Not even a little tiny light fuzzy one. My eyebrows were... how do you say? ON FLEEK. I think that what really makes this place is that they know how to make your natural eyebrows suit you. Prior to this my eyebrows were on the thicker fuller side with very minimal arches to them. I came out and while I still have nice full eyebrows the shape that Ranju created gives just the perfect amount of arch/shapeliness without taking too much away from that natural fullness that I enjoyed. This place used to be good. Now, however, they have hired new people who have no idea what they're doing and the quality has gone way down. I've been a regular customer for the past 2.5 yrs, normally going twice a month. I had not gone for a few weeks because I wanted to grow my eyebrows out and make them thicker since last time I went to this place and asked that they don't make my eyebrows thinner, they didn't listen and went and thinned them out anyway. I decided to give them a second chance anyway. But that's it, I'm no longer going to this place. First of all, the lady was definitely a newbie and not just at this salon, but at threading in general. I get that it takes time to get used to but, at the end of the day, if I'm paying $15 for a professional service, I expect professional-level quality of said service. I could feel that she just did not have a good grip on the thread. The girl who used to be there before was really fast and precise and this lady was the exact opposite. Second, I explained that I just wanted her to clean my eyebrows on top and in the middle, and shape the sides making them a little more pointy. It took her three tries and she still did not manage to do what I asked her to. In fact, I was just inspecting my eyebrows and I saw that she missed hairs that are really hard to miss. I mean, if you're a professional threader, you'd be ashamed of yourself for missing those spots. Now I have to spend extra time doing it myself. Third, and this is more of a Boston thing, they charge you $15 for this plus tip (so, $18). Are you kidding me? I've lived in New York and Los Angeles - places where people are a LOT more vain than Boston and the most I've paid for eyebrow threading is $10 and that was at a very fancy LA salon. Normally it's around $5-$8. Also, I always find it very disrespectful when employees speak in a different language in front of customers. Don't get me wrong. My original language is not English either but, whenever I am around people who don't speak my language, I speak English out of respect for them. I don't want them to think that I'm talking smack about them. That should be the case especially if said people are your customers. So yeah, enter at your own risk. I gave them an extra star for old time's sake and because they are actually nice, not rude. But the quality of service is definitely not what it used to be and definitely not worth $15. read more

These gals are great! Incredibly friendly, moderate priced, and really understand each persons optimal eyebrow--cheesy, I know, but it's super important. I came here with my friend Shannon who had been coming here for a while she has natural, thinner eyebrows (think Nord meets Irish) while mine are thick and long (typical Latin). These ladies managed to absolutely rock it!!! Without me having to ask, they knew to do a basic clean up, not going to thin, maintaining the shape, and even trimming my eyebrows (sad, but necessary!) I would definitely recommend them to anyone living in the Brighton/Allston/Newton area. It's a much better alternative to the expensive beauty bars around town. read more

This place is amazing! Very convenient location for those who work downtown or in the financial district. The space is beautifully decorated and the women working there are so friendly and genuine. They do an excellent job and I could not be more satisfied. It can get busy if you go after work or around lunchtime, but even during the busy times there is plenty of seating and they move everyone along quickly, without compromising their work. Two years ago after finding this threading place on Yelp which had all 5 star reviews, I found Ranju (the owner). At that time, it was only Ranju doing the threading. Ranju is fabulous---takes her time, is gentle---with the end result being beautiful quality eyebrows. If this review were for her, it would be 5 stars. However, Ranju has since expanded and hired co-workers who do not provide the same level of service. She also works limited hours and so it is difficult to schedule time with her. I have been back twice, once with my mother, and we both left dissatisfied. The other co-workers do not take their time, nick and cut the skin and are not particular about the shape and so your eyebrows may be of different shapes at the end. They have also raised their price for eyebrows from $10 to $12. Will not be going back unless Ranju is working. :-( :-( read more

I've come here three times with full grown in eyebrows. I always leave with perfectly shaped and threaded brows. FINALLY a place where I can get my eye brows done and walk out confident that they look clean, sharp and thick! As you can tell I am happy with this place. My beautician (not sure that's the proper term but oh well) was light handed which is IMPORTANT when getting the eye brows threaded as it can get painful. I had the normal redness but the experience wasn't my most painful, so I was pleased. My eye brows looked great and no its not a subjective opinion. Moreover the place was packed when i went, always a good sign. My only grievance is how expensive it is but given the location i guess it makes sense. P.S. this salon was recommended by a makeup artist so clearly that has a lot of weight. read more

Went with a friend on an early Thursday morning to the small boutique. Just as professional and home-y as the one in Brighton. Felt very personalized and comfortable, almost like doing it at a friend's house. Friendly service and inexpensive ($12 for just eyebrows) makes it highly preferable to any of the salons in the area that offer threading. It was always such a hassle to get out to Brighton by T, so having this downtown location is so much more convenient, which means customers will be able to come more often. I just wish there was more signage for it from the street level so more people could be aware of it. read more

Small space with just 2 chairs and a couch for seating. The location can be a bit hard to find since it's on the second floor of the Jewelry Exchange building. Came here around 5PM on a Saturday with no wait. No complaints on the service. The two people working were super friendly. $15 seemed a little higher than average for just a brow service, but I had purchased a $10 for $15 Groupon, so gave it a shot. This is now my new go-to threading location in Boston. However, I always get kind of lost finding the place. It is in a large building filled with boutiques and specialty shops. And there has also always been a wait because many people go here. If you plan on going I recommend blocking off about 10-15 more minutes than you normally would for a threading session to account for finding the place and waiting. Security up front is helpful in location, but the last time I was there security could not be found. Also I don't want to have to ask the same few people every time I visit, kind of embarrassing. read more

I haven't been happy with my eyebrows in so long! I haven't stayed at one place because I usually do my eyebrows at 2 different locations. Today I decided to stop by this location because the other place I go to is outside of Boston. So glad I came here! My eyebrows were left thick just like I asked and they look great overall. I hate getting my eyebrows threaded because I feel like it's such a long process compared to waxing, but I will say that I thoroughly enjoy the services at Boston Threading. If you're not a regular, it may be a bit difficult to find this location (but it's so conveniently located at the Downtown T Stop). The business is quite small and there's usually always a line. I love that you see all types of women coming in for threading services. Akriti is amazing, but she is also in popular demand -- so I just want to say that it's OKAY to not have her be your regular, the other aestheticians are equally amazing, professional, and WILL do what you want, making you less hairy than when you walked in :-). I love their member rewards card, I fill those things up quick, and I really like that the women who work here don't stray from what works for them. really great threading experience, supper accommodating and they've always done a great job. They just recently got rid of their stamp card though, which obviously isn't a necessity for me but they changed it to this online system with square and it just slightly elongates the checkout process. $15 for eyebrow threading. $10 for upper lip. And on top of that, you still have to tip. Pretty pricey- maybe its because of the prime location in the financial district. This place is hard to find, its to the left of the huge CVS that is all glass. Take the elevator to the second floor and you will be able to find the place. Take note of the unit number so that you can find the place. I like the way my eyebrows were done- the lady was good and told me what she was doing and what kind of shape she was trying to achieve. Only thing I didn't like was the way I wasn't allowed to use both yelp deals. There is one where you get a discount for checking in, and another one where you can buy a Yelp deal online. Also, if you use a Yelp deal, they will not stamp your loyalty card. Therefore, 3 stars. Also, I keep leaving my royalty cards at home. If you have multiple loyalty cards, they will not combine them. read more
