This place is not like it used to be. I have been going to this place forever but I need to find another local seafood place. This place used to be crazy busy but not the few times I went. Prices of course has increased and portion size of the food has decreased. The quality of the food and decreased also. For 2 people for lunch it was approximately $45 dollars which is crazy for lunch. The taste of the food isn't like before and the tarter sauce has changed. The tarter sauce used to be thick and chunky and now it has no taste. I have to say my favorite side is the rice pilaf and the onion rings. It took us a long while to receive our food and there was only a few people eating lunch. Even our server made a comment stating we have been waiting awhile for our food. I had heard good things from this restaurant throught time and finally decided to give it a try. We were in the mood for seafood and looked forward to our meal. Sadly, the food did not live to the expectations. Everything seemed to come pre-made or just put together and served. The lobster bisque was super thick and I could barely taste the lobster. Our meals came and another disappointment the lobster roll was small and the chilled Lobster salad was flavorless. I could only taste the mayo and it was not very fresh. The mac and cheese seemed that it came out of a box and the only thing that looked good and prepped from scratch were the onion rings. The mahi mahi was pan seared amd that one had a good flavor, portion a bit small compared to other places I have visited for the price. The mashed potatoes and the fettuccine alfredo, seemed that they came out of a box or jar. Pretty bland The staff is nice and attentive and pretty quick to get food to the tables. I am never disappoint when I go to Boston's Fish house. I took my mother here for her birthday as it's one of her favorite restaurants. When you enter, you'll see many things that remind you of being in Boston. The thing that I like the most about this restaurant is that the food is always fresh, and everyone is welcoming and inviting. My mother and I split the captains platter and we also got an extra side of shrimp and fries. We always request for a food to be fried just a little bit longer so it's more crispy. Went here with my friend on a Saturday night. There was a small line when we entered, and noticed that ordering was done on the counter. So I picked up a menu while I waited. A couple minutes later it was our turn and I ordered the lobster roll with fries and potato salad (22 dollars). After ordering, we were seated at our table. Our servers were very quick to bring our drinks. Our food came a couple minutes later. The lobster roll was a bit small, but still a good amount of sweet lobster claw meat tossed in mayonnaise on a delicious grilled roll. There was lettuce in the roll in the roll as well, but I wished they had a bit more veggies like tomato or onion for a bit more value. The potato salad and french fries were a good side, with the fries being more generous with the portions. The server was friendly and attentive. Drinks and refills were given quickly. Our server not only refilled my friend's tea, but also provided one to go as well. The staff were wearing masks, which I very much appreciated their gesture. The atmosphere was a new England nautical setting. The noise was on the quieter side with no music playing in the background either. This restaurant is located at a strip mall, where there is an Aldi's and Dollar Tree. There is also a Jaramiahs frozen ice, so you can get your dessert there instead as I found out that their Boston cream pie was not homemade. I've been here a few times so I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet! Boston Fish House is a combo of counter service and waiter service... you order at the front kiosk and then sit at your table. There are multiple serves that check up on you throughout the time while you're dining there. I went last night and the man that was taking my food order was super nice and friendly- he cracked a few jokes which was nice since I know he was so busy with the long line of people. I ordered the seafood platter and the lobster bisque. All of it was so good and the Mac and cheese side was delicious! Stopped by yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner when I was in the area unexpectedly. It has literally been decades since the last time I ate there. I didn't realize they had moved until I couldn't find them and looked them up. All I ordered were fried oysters, as I didn't feel like a whole meal. I have been in search of the best lobster roll in Orlando, and while this doesn't take the top spot, I will say it earns higher than average marks. Everything was just so fresh!! It was plain, no frills, chock full of moist delicious lobster. The sandwich was served open-faced, on a hotdog style grilled buttery bun, with shredded lettuce, and a huge pile of lobster dressed with a bit of mayonnaise. There was so much lobster, so many huge chunks, that I had to eat it with a fork and knife because I couldn't pick it up without it collapsing. I didn't think the lettuce was needed so I ate it without. The sandwich was very plain which let the delicious lobster shine. I wish it had a bit more mayo and seasonings to it, and the bun also needed to be a bit more buttered and crispy. The meal was expensive but considering that you were paying for lobster and got two sides I couldn't complain. Plus, there are so many sides to choose from. The broccoli salad was so addicting! It was a cold salad served with bacon and raisins dressed in this creamy dressing. Perfect compliment to the sandwich. My dad ordered the fried Ipswich clams. He is from Boston and loves the Ipswich clams there, so he's a tough critic. But he said these were delicious and came pretty darn close to the ones in Boston. We've been coming to Boston's Fish House for over 15 years, but we won't be back anymore. Over the years, prices have risen, portions have shrunk and quality has steadily gone downhill. Today, my broiled scallops were very undercooked and mushy, my son's Lobster Bisque was so salty he couldn't even eat it (and he is a teenager who eats EVERYTHING) and my husband's clam strips were rubbery. This is my wife's favorite place to visit for seafood and it has been since she was in college. She raves about the calamari and lobster bisque and its really nice to see this place still open. I was kinda bummed it was a stand in line and order at the counter and find somewhere to sit type of place, so it's more fast casual than restaurant. They can get busy and a line can form outside to get in. The food was good. If you're going for Fried stuff, then this is your place. I honestly don't remember what we ate and for some reason, I don't have any pictures so I must have not been able to touch my phone or it kept slipping through my fingers. Other reviews mention the lobster rolls and they do look delicious. They do have some broiled options as well if you're in the healthier mood. So I've been searching far and wide for the best food in Orlando, mostly taking recommendations from the readers of Orlando Weekly. And in the year 2021, they thought that Boston's Fish House had the 3rd best seafood in town. So, I had to check this place out and see if they were right. One Friday night after work, we ordered takeout, got it home, and feasted. We like samplers, so we ordered the Boston's Seafood Combo Platter (Fresh fish, sea scallops, shrimp, onion rings and your choice of oysters, whole belly clams or clam Strips). We got the clam strips. And the two sides we were entitled to were the Mac & Cheese and the Sauteed Zucchini & Squash Medley. Everything on this platter was fried, but the breading was light and simple and not dripping in oil like a lot of seafood joints this far away from the ocean. The fish was served in chunks, but still moist and flakey and yum. The scallops were little bay scallops, but that light breading kept them high quality and poppable and delicious. The shrimps were fine, nothing to shake a stick at. But the onion rings were definitely something to shake a stick it. Nice, hefty rings of onions that were very crispy, so good. And the clam strips were nice. Everything was nice. Even the sides. The mac and cheese was melty and ooey and gooey and very casserole style, don't expect to separate the individual noodles out. And the zucc and the squash were very fresh tasting, a nice pop of freshness against all the fried food. Overall, I liked this place a lot. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you want a taste of the sea. I feel like I will forever be trying to replace the quality of seafood I lost when I moved away from the Gulf Coast, but places like this will help me pass the time as my search continues. read more

Dear God their food is amazing! We originally hale from Massachusetts, so we take our fish and chips very seriously. They do not disappoint. That chowder... My son and I fight over it. The food is incredible, never had an issue with any of it. We usually pick up, but the one time we dined in was amazing. All the staff takes care of you. If anyone sees your cup is almost empty, someone swoops in and takes care of it for you without having to ask. They all greet you, talk to you, very friendly, very warm and welcoming atmosphere. A legendary fish house that's been around for a very long time and isn't going anywhere. Amazing seafood in a New England style. My boyfriends family has been coming here for a long time and finally I got to try it. I am very impressed and understand it's worth the 45 min drive for sure. You order up front and the lines are very long. This is a full house restaurant and you will understand when you taste their delicious food. Once you order you will be seated shortly after and your food comes out at a reasonable time. A server is still provided and everyone here offers amazing service. A bit overpriced in my opinion but the quality of the seafood is superior as opposed to other more affordable chains with frozen options. I've had the clam chowder and shrimp platter. First time here and we had a pleasant experience. You place your order first and pay before being seated. Problem is if you are tipping by card and not cash, you are tipping before you even get service so it's hard to determine how much to tip. We went on a Thursday night and there was a line but it moved fairly fast (~20 mins). That gave us time to look at the menu. The person who took our order was very friendly and recommended we get the onion nuggets instead of the onion rings since they usually run out by that time of night. Server was super nice too. -Mahi tacos (daily special): per husband it "tasted fresh and fish was juicy". -Onion nuggets: tasty but my husband prefers onion rings bc the nuggets were "too mushy" inside. -Broccoli salad: had raisins and bacon. A little sweet but good. -Shrimp Alfredo (daily special): fettuccine texture was good. Sauce was plain and bland. -Mac and cheese: pretty good -Clam chowder: husband liked it. I thought it needed a little something extra. -Boston cream pie: pretty sweet. Cake part was dry but balanced by the custard. Overall good experience. Great service. Since moving to Winter Park I've heard about Boston Fish House a few times with a good reputation attached. Again, unfortunately all of those recommendations were WAY off. Even looking through the other positive reviews here makes me wonder: has anyone that's been here ever had fresh seafood in their lives? I grew up on the coast and have been eating seafood my entire life. Everything we had tonight just didn't hit the mark. The Mahi filet was pan-seared but hardly seasoned and one of the smallest dinner portions I've ever had. Must have been only 6 oz. The onion rings, while well-fried and fresh, were battered in the most bland, seasonless batter I've ever experienced. The clam chowder, which I figured they'd nail, along with the lobster bisque were both so thick and full of flour that I couldn't taste anything else. The mac and cheese tasted like Kraft. Snow crab legs were over boiled in water without seasoning. All of the legs were water-logged. This happens when crab legs are left in water too long. The fries were actually quite good, but I can't justify a hundred dollar dinner on fries alone. The service is also top-notch and everyone there was great. Ordering is strange: like a buffet. You order from a register when you first enter and your food is later brought to your table by a server. You can tell the place is 25 years old as they still have a carpeted floor. Not that either of those things matter or affect the food, just something that first got my attention. I'm sorry to say, if you know seafood and have marginal expectations, I would not recommend. They may fly their ingredients in from the Northeast, but you can't do any food justice if you don't know how to compliment its flavors with the proper seasonings. I've been coming to Boston's for 20 years. When I see the 1, 2, or 3 star reviews, I can't help but laugh. I can only assume these reviews are more the buffet types. Boston's only offers quality seafood at fair prices. The breading on the shrimp is light and crisp. Every side dish is delicious. The teriyaki salmon skewers are phenomenal! Of course, the service is always friendly and attentive. The restaurant is super clean. Best of all, the sweet tea is on point! This isn't a McCormick and Schmidts. The plates are plastic, and so are the drink cups. However, the food is first class all the way. Since 1988, Boston has been serving up the best seafood in Central Florida.
