I love this place! You order first then sit down. They'll bring your drinks, food, and check on you often. I love the mahi and haddock dishes, and I get the cracker crumb crust with light butter. The carrots are to die for (I know that's weird to rave about carrots but they're really good). I also like the potato salad. My husband always gets shrimp and onion rings, and my friend loves the fish tacos and onion nuggets. We go to this place quite often. I gave 4 stars because I think they need new tile floors (don't like the carpet). I love the ambience besides that though; super cute decor. I love all the license plates! :) read more

A legendary fish house that's been around for a very long time and isn't going anywhere. Amazing seafood in a New England style. My boyfriends family has been coming here for a long time and finally I got to try it. I am very impressed and understand it's worth the 45 min drive for sure. You order up front and the lines are very long. This is a full house restaurant and you will understand when you taste their delicious food. Once you order you will be seated shortly after and your food comes out at a reasonable time. A server is still provided and everyone here offers amazing service. A bit overpriced in my opinion but the quality of the seafood is superior as opposed to other more affordable chains with frozen options. I've had the clam chowder and shrimp platter. First time here and we had a pleasant experience. You place your order first and pay before being seated. Problem is if you are tipping by card and not cash, you are tipping before you even get service so it's hard to determine how much to tip. We went on a Thursday night and there was a line but it moved fairly fast (~20 mins). That gave us time to look at the menu. The person who took our order was very friendly and recommended we get the onion nuggets instead of the onion rings since they usually run out by that time of night. Server was super nice too. -Mahi tacos (daily special): per husband it "tasted fresh and fish was juicy". -Onion nuggets: tasty but my husband prefers onion rings bc the nuggets were "too mushy" inside. -Broccoli salad: had raisins and bacon. A little sweet but good. -Shrimp Alfredo (daily special): fettuccine texture was good. Sauce was plain and bland. -Mac and cheese: pretty good -Clam chowder: husband liked it. Disappointed. From standing in line outside in the heat to waiting to place our order at the counter inside, it just wasn't all that good. The Lobster Bisque was disappointing with lots of little strands of lobster but the lobster taste was lost in the sherry taste from the bisque. Just disappointing. When the broccoli salad is the highlight of the meal, well, that is just disappointing. The scallops were plentiful on the plate but were a tad bit overdone. The onion rings just didn't cut it either. It's been many years since our last visit and it will be at least that long if we ever return. They must be doing something right as the line was out the door, the place was packed as always with the "greatest generation" but it just isn't our cup of tea. My experience at this restaurant was good with friendly service and decent seafood, but I would not go out of my way to eat here again. The location is decorated with a beach/sea theme that is to be expected for a seafood restaurant. I found the fried seafood platter to be a bit too heavy and one-noted in flavor, but was great for sharing in a small group. It came with fried fish, sea scallops, shrimp, onion rings and clam strips, but you can get either oysters or whole belly clams instead. For my meal, I ended up getting the haddock sandwich and found it to be a pretty straight-forward fish sandwich. It came with toasted buns, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. Nothing to me that was extraordinary or unusual worth mentioning. All in all, it is a good seafood restaurant if you happen to be in the area. read more

The northern fish is fresh and tasty. The frying oil is meticulously filtered which is obvious by the golden color of the fried foods. The atmosphere is true to my home state of MA and is cozy and welcoming. The staff is attentive without being annoying. I have never had to wait for drink refills...they are most accommodating. Best new england deep fryed seafood platter my wife and I ever experienced. Huge bellied clams, large deep sea scallops, nice sized shrimp and chunchs of fish coated in a very light batter. I was so hurt today! I've been going there for yrs! My husband is a 100% disabled Viet Nam Veteran Cobra Pilot. Today was their Day we never ask for a discount, most of the time he never wears his hat in a restaurant. Today standing in front of the desk where you order, his legs gave out. Since it wasn't busy, and no one was behind us, I asked if he could sit in a booth and I would order for him. The young man said, we don't allow that!! I said , I know that but he is getting weak and he fought for you, his country, please, I'm sorry. He again said, it's not our policy! Thank goodness a young girl finally seated us as I hurilry ordered our food. At least our waiter said, Happy Easter . Boston's Fish House has been a longtime favorite. Being that my family is from New Jersey, we miss the northeast style seafood, the kind of you would find along the Jersey Shore. When we are missing the seafood that we knew from our home state, when our hearts are remembering great times along the Jersey Shore, we head to Boston's Fish House. It is a bit pricey. I will also say that some of the sides are pretty pathetic. They offer Mott's applesauce, which I can buy in any Supermarket, along with Boston's baked beans, again that I can buy in any supermarket. The salad dressings come in packets akin to ketchup packets. But like some fantastic steakhouses, Boston's Fish House is not about the side dishes, it is about the seafood. For an appetizer, try to steamers. For a main course, I would recommend the combination platter. Though anything on the menu is often good. Since I'm trying to eat healthy, tonight I had the broiled halibut. It was perfectly done. So if you are feeling in the mood for seafood, I strongly recommend heading here. read more

They expect you to look at the menu, pick your food and pay for it without ever being seated. I feel rushed and put upon to make a decision right now! So.....another thread got me craving a Lobster roll...a few people suggested this place. I'll start with...they have a cold lobster salad roll. They do NOT have the warm lobster roll. I chose to get the cold lobster salad with two sides. It was "ok". I think the sides of onion rings (yum!) and the broccoli salad (yum) were better. I also got a small portion of the full bellies clams to bring home ($22!) I'll report on them later. I did not get raved about clam chowder because I'm making my own this weekend. The service was great....if you have not been there, you have menus as you come in the door, order at the register and then seated. A concept I don't really care for but I digress. While I didn't hate anything about this place I just felt it was "ok" It was not worth the trip thru Winter Park via Rollins and it wasn't worth my trip back to NW Orange County via the alternate route I took back. Had lunch here with my neighbor today. A big disappointment. We had haddock sandwiches, Jerry's was fried and mine was broiled with a Ritz cracker topping. One word would describe our lunch BLAND, BLAND, BLAND. The fish and also the fried calamari and onion rings were totally tasteless. So, I asked our server if the cooks used any salt at all and she politely said no, not at all. We allow the customer to add seasoning themselves. All I have to say is WOW, unbelievable. Although I've run into 1 or 2 other restaurants with the same philosophy this is totally outrageous. (Those restaurants had equally bland food) I'm not sure how this restaurant gets high ratings. I used to go here years ago and just hadn't been in forever. I went this week for dinner and it was great. My friend and I had a craving for seafood so we decided to visit Boston's Fish House. The employees were all extremely friendly and helpful--everything from the cashier helping to explain my options and servers checking on drinks and if we needed anything multiple times while we dined. They have a cute little patio area for outdoor seating too. The food was great. I got a Captain's Platter. Way too much for just one person, but everything was delicious. They have a variety of sides to choose from. Veggies, fettuccini, fries, mashed potatoes, onion rings, soups, Mac-n-cheese, etc. The platter came with fresh fish, shrimp, and scallops as well as fried clams and onion rings, and then 2 sides of your choice. You can pick how you want your fish cooked from a list of options like fried, baked, broiled. I got mine broiled Cajun style and it was pretty delicious. And I don't know if I just hadn't eaten mac-n-cheese in a long time, but I thought it was really good too. Everything tasted fresh and arrived nice and hot. I will be sure to return. read more

She would go with teh folks from the Senior Center, which was close to our home. On this visit, we came with our teenage daughter... all of us enjoyed it very much! My wife had the special Lobster Roll, while I got a pound of Steamer Clams and a Fried Oyster Roll. Our daughter got a bowl of Lobster Bisque. For drinks, I had a Vanilla Porter, while our daughter had a Root Beer; and, my wife had only water. The Lobster Roll was substantial; and, she enjoyed it very much; an,d our daughter likewise with the bisque. For me, the Steamers were a bit gritty; but, they were very tasty, just like I remember from Cape Cod! Also, the Fried Oysters were among the best I have ever had; and, I am a big fan of fried oysters! I hope we return soon; this was so much better than I remember. My family, friends and I have been going to this location for over 25 years. I live quite a distance from here and it was always worth the drive. But, the food orders today were so messed up. I ordered the captain's platter with the ritz cracker topping. it should have contained whole belly clams and my friends ordered clam strips and got clams with bellys. I received the whole belly clams with onion rings...no fish, no scallops, no shrimp. They took the platter of clams and onion rings, brought it out a few minutes later the platter of whole belly clams & onion rings are brought out with another wait staff to confirm the messed up order in the mean time, my friends are half-way through their meal. We waited 10 minutes for the platter and our friends were done. We ate off of their platter, we were so hungry. The clams and onion rings came our again, same basket and now they're cold. The rest of the ritz crax items came. They tasted good, but we had to scrape the inch high crackers off it was too thick. I spent over $60 and left so disappointed. Being from New England, Boston's has been a staple for my family for many, many years. My daughter was born and raised here in Central Florida, yet she has NE blood running through her veins as she and her grandfather have always been big Red Sox Fans. My wife from NJ has been part of this tradition for years. The food, the service and ambiance has always been great making us feel like we are right back in in the NE area. Now, today we introduce my 2 year old grandson. When we arrived there was no line, we were able to walk right up and place our orders without being rushed. The staff never rushed us in the past just the hungry other families behind us in the past. Well, my grandson was quieter than anyone at the table minding his own business until my box of fried clams showed up. He grabbed the basket and grabbed himself a Fried Clam. He ate the Fried Clam and his fish and his fries. The other 5 adults were all happy with their meals. Some of us needed to go boxes while I had ordered Steak Tips with Mushrooms to go for dinner tonight. The staff was as pleasant as always. The ambience today for lunch was great, just shy of a full restaurant, it was great. As we were leaving around 1:15pm there was a few families in line. Everyone walked away full & Happy! This place is always pretty solid. I always get the Ipswich clams or fried shrimp basket. My son always gets the clam strips. The cocktail and tartar sauces are always on point. The fried onion rings are light but crispy. Service is top notch as our drinks never go empty. The ambiance is quiet. For lunch it's definitely an older crowd but you can tell why they've been coming here forever, it's the food! read more

Excellent food and great service for takeout. We have only dined in a couple of times during the off peak days. We really love their fried catfish, chicken and onion rings. How could I not give Boston Fish House five stars when they have the best fried shrimp anywhere?? Amazingly, even though it could be the only reason necessary to get it the five, it is not. Here's why: We've been coming here for what seems like decades and, in spite of the establishment changing owners a few years ago, their food is consistently top notch. You enter, wait in an evenly moving line during busy periods, place your order and pay, get seated, then shortly thereafter, voilá, your party receives hot, freshly battered and fried, or broiled, seafood by the most cheerful and helpful staff. They are so attentive with making sure orders are perfect and drinks are filled that it is always a comfortable place to visit. My last visit made me realize I had never reviewed this place. Perhaps because I just take it for granted. We went to celebrate my 94 year old mother-in-law's birthday with a Friday lunch, because, it is her favorite place. She always gets the fried scallops and says they are the best. We had a party of 14, but when two could not make it last minute, they quickly adjusted without a worry. Mind you, there was another party of 12, it was a Friday, and this is not a huge place. No one batted an eye, they just all work diligently. With smiles!! If fried foods are not your thing, no fear if you go with a fried shrimp/ fish/ scallop lover, because, everything can be broiled. There is an option of blackened, as well. It takes a bit longer, but worth the wait. I have had the broiled mahi several times an it is always fresh and delicious. Several good side options, as well. Kudos to the staff - managers, purchasers, cooks, hosts, wait staff, dishwashers, and anyone else associated with Boston. They should be proud of quality work they do there! read more

We have been coming here since it was a small place down the street, like I saw in a lot of the other reviews. This says something that a restaurant can stay in business this long and get consistently high marks from the public. The atmosphere is casual and it's not easy to find, but the food and the service is consistently excellent. The clientele leans more towards the greatest generation, but we weren't that old when we started eating here, and this is a family friendly restaurant. There are generally small children in the place, and in today's market it points to them being thought of as a good value, lots of good food for a reasonable price in a friendly atmosphere, what more do you want??? read more

Excellent, wicked good. Best ipswich whole belly clams I have had since leaving Mass. Walking up to the restaurant my eyes got a little watery, smelled like home. There are many good New England style food items. Fried haddock, flounder, whole belly clams, Canadian scallops, shrimp, crab legs. Inside get in line, place your order and be seated. Its comfy with both booths and tables. We didnt wanna fill up on fries or Cole slaw so we opted for a medium box of whole belly clams and scallops along with a small onion ring. We almost finished the seafood but took home almost all our onion rings. Food here is the best I have had in forever. We plan to return many times. read more
