Dear God, this place is so good. The staff is incredibly friendly every time we come in, it's clean, well-kept, and easy to find. The food is amazing and their portions are always generous and worth the money. Our go-tos are the friend haddock and the fried chicken strips. Their fries are good, the coleslaw has just the right amount of sweetness, and I love their potato salad. Boston fish house did not make a great impression. First off the young lady at the front was rude. She was talking almost in a shouting way. And to top it off snatched the menu out of my hands. Let's start with how they run the restaurant It's almost like s fast food They take your order first and pay, then they sit you. They even ask for tip. Once seated they bring the food out. Decor was okay but the furniture was in terrible conditions. Restroom looks like a 7/11 bathroom. Now the food which was pricey. No flavor at all. Let me start with the coconut shrimp, no flavor just drop fried. French fries were good but no seasoning. The lobster bisk was horrible. Again no flavor and very giddy with tiny sherds of lobster. Mac and cheese tasted like microwave food. My husband had fried scallops and although it didn't have much flavor they were pretty good. It has been way too long, as we live in Poinciana now, but I insisted we go, we went 5/9. As usual I ordered a medium basket of the Whole Bellied Ipswich Clams and a glass of Water with lemon . My husband ordered the lunch serving of the Fried Scallops with Fries and Onion Rings along with a Pepsi. The dining room was pretty full as it was the day before Mother's day around 4:15pm when we arrived. Our food was outstanding, as always. I would go more often if it wasn't so far. But the main thing is we had a great meal, and when we are in the area we WILL stop by for lunch. I will mention that when we arrived, there were 2 couples in front of us. The Rundown: classic area seafood restaurant, with comforting atmosphere and friendly service. The Review: Finally made the visit to Boston's Fish House, after all the hype. I was surprised to learn it's a unique mix of counter service with sit down. This explains why there may be a line seen outside. As a heads up, it is seafood. So expect to pay seafood pricing (you're looking at likely ~$20-$30pp). Once you order you choose your seat and a floating server will bring you drinks and your food will be brought to you as well. Starting with the clam chowder, I found the flavor to be fantastic and the ingredients certainly seemed of great quality! However it was some of the most interesting chowder in terms of texture and consistency I've ever had - and I'm from New England. It is incredibly thick and that isn't just due to being well stocked. It's hard to describe but if you use a thick sunscreen lotion you'll likely find it to ve even more thick than that. Because of this it felt like it was missing cream or something to loosen it up. It was very good - I really did enjoyed the flavor and would definitely get it. It is just very different for those who may be more sensitive from a texture point and expecting something more in line with a beef stew consistency or lighter. Also I was disappointed clam cakes were not an option. What's New England chowder without clam cakes? I ordered a fried catfish dinner, sides of pasta (red) with onion petals. It was okay. The fish was good, fried not to heavy and not too lightly. The batter is unseasoned, so you will likely need something (I asked for lemon wedges but they offer tartar sauce or cocktail sauces). The pasta was really disappointing. The sauce looked to be well season but it was actually very bland and turned out to be watery. The onion petals were... A varied assortment of petals and actual onion rings. Again, fried nicely not being too light or heavy. They also paired very well with the cocktail sauce. Would I recommend? Unfortunately not particularly, unless you're able to visit during the hours they offer smaller portion (and smaller priced) baskets. It's certainly an option if you absolutely need seafood and are unwilling to travel. While the family type vibe and homestyle decor was certainly welcoming, I definitely have much higher expectations from the food especially at price levels that rival other seafood restaurants. For that reason, you'd likely be better off traveling a bit further for something with more consistent taste and quality. read more

Went there for lunch. Ordered shrimp which also came with 2 sides. The shrimp was overcooked and way too chewy. The noodles with alfredo has a pleasant, although somewhat bland taste. I also ordered apple sauce as my second side. I NEVER thought that I would receive a plastic container of Motts apple sauce as is typically given to children in their lunch! My lunch partner had his 2 sides delivered in styrofoam cups. The presentation was awful. It would be understandable for a food truck or cheap diner, but not when lunch costs upwards of $17. The server only showed up once and then disappeared. Other thing that is odd, is that you order at the front desk and pay up front (they even ask if you want to leave a tip---before any service!). The dining room was packed but still had plenty of seating available.Boston's has great food so usually there's a wait. The cashier was friendly and took our order quickly. We got a garlic bread as an appetizer and the bread was fresh and soft. I ordered the Fried Clam Strip basket with Alfredo. The clam strips were a good size, in most places they are small and crumbly but Boston's were perfectly crunchy and big. My husband ordered the Fried Fish with Onion Petal basket, he said the fish was tasty and fresh. We left behind at least 80% of the food because there was literally no flavor. It wasn't overcooked, it wasn't undercooked -- it was just bland to the point of being bizarre. Like someone made it with zero seasoning, zero care, and no interest in whether anyone would actually want to eat it. For the price, this was insulting. You enter this little restaurant which is actually huge compared to their original location. Order at the counter and then they will seat you and bring you your food and drinks. The breading on the shrimp is amazing it reminds me of my mom's. It's light flaky and delicious! My favorite sides are the onion rings or petals again the breading is light and flaky fried to perfection. I also get the potato salad it has a touch of sugar making it different than most but it is creamy and chunky goodness. If you prefer soup then don't pass up the lobster bisque it is one of the best soups I have ever gotten! A great go to on a cold rainy day. This is a place you don't want to miss out on. First time at the restaurant. Kind of a strange setup where you pay first and then get full service. I tried the sailor platter with cajun spice and fried clam strips and mac & cheese and baked beans. The wife had the fried haddock. The seafood tasted fresh and the waiter was attentive. The only think I thought might be better was the onion rings and the fried breading on the wife's haddock were a bit plain (no real seasoning). First time I have ever seen her add salt to her fish. But maybe we're just more used to more seasoned food and this was a "Boston" style restaurant and food can be more plain up north. Our family has been going to Boston's for years. My husband is from the Cape Cod area and loves his Ipswich clams. The fisherman's platter here comes with his favorite whole belly clams, shrimp, scallops and fish served on top of a huge pile of onion rings, just like up North. You can order them broiled or fried. He loves his fried. It also comes with 2 sides. The seafood has always been fresh, perfectly cooked and flavorful. I usually do the teriyaki salmon kabobs. Huge chunks of salmon on skewers with peppers, onions and mushrooms served on top of a bed of rice pilaf. It also comes with 2 sides. I recently changed it up for the teriyaki salmon dinner but didn't like it as much so back to the skewers for me. If you are eating in, you place your order at the register, wait to be seated and they serve food to you like any other restaurant. The only difference here is placing the order upfront before you are seated. One thing I wish they would do is spend less than $100 to fix the latches on the women's bathroom doors. It is a bit unnerving that someone can just open the door on you. Both stalls had broken latches and I think it as like that last year as well. I told my husband I might just need to bring a screwdriver next time we go. read more

I have always enjoyed Boston Fish House. Fond memories of New England seafood. But my most recent take-out experience was awful. Scallop plate, Clam Strip Plate and Coconut Shrimp --all overcooked. The coconut shrimp was overcooked, with rubbery shrimp and no taste of coconut. Clam strips just had crunch. No taste. Scallops were fair. Very Disappointing. read more

I've been to this restaurant a few times in the past and decided to do a weekend lunch this past Saturday, January 14, 2023. This restaurant was opened in February, 1988, and in the Orlando restaurant world this is considered an eternity. They're known for flying in fresh seafood from the Northeast region to satisfy diners who are seeking the New England seafood experience. However, living by the motto, "When in the South, do as the Southerners do", I went in the other direction and opted for the Fried Catfish Basket. I can't help it...I like catfish. The Fried Catfish Basket included two sides and I selected their coleslaw and rice pilaf. The catfish came in bite sized nuggets with a light and non-greasy breading but, the taste was lacking. Unfortunately, the coleslaw and rice pilaf were also OK, though each had nothing flavor wise which would want me to order those sides again. As to the service, Christina, was a friendly and accommodating server and I appreciated her assistance. Also, the restaurant's cleanliness is first rate as I noticed tables and booths were quickly bussed and cleaned as soon as patrons departed. No issues with the service and ambiance, I only wish I could give a higher star rating for the food. read more

An old staple.. it is a very casual place where you will find an older crowd. They offer a wide variety of seafood with a good selection of side items. They also offer lunch portions in the evening. This trip, we got the clam chowder, and it was alright. Way more potatoes than clams but a good taste. We got the scallops with butter garlic sauce. They were cooked to perfection. We got the long neck clams steamed, but they were very gritty and we will not get them again. Lots of choices for sides.
