At first I really liked Melissa; she was friendly and seemed to be accommodating. She provided a quote and told me 50% was due to hold the spot. I paid the deposit and worked with her on plans. While working with her, I came across several negative reviews and was surprised - why were her reviews so strong on the Knot? After seeing some of the pictures of her arrangements, I worried she would not be capable of creating the arrangements I had in mind. So I decided to request individual stems and create bud vase arrangements myself. I expected the quote to come in under what she had initially provided, after all, she wasn't doing any labor outside placing an order anymore. When I got the quote back, each stem was between $6 - $11. I thought that seemed steep considering she quoted $65 for centerpieces when we did our original order. She told me flower growers were going out of business left and right and that's why the cost was so high. I was still skeptical so I looked online and called a couple other florists with strong reviews in her area for quotes. They came in at half the cost, if not a third the cost. I asked her about this and she said their flowers must be low quality. I asked her to look at other wholesalers to see if she could get a better price somewhere else, she refused. After feeling fed up, and a little screwed over, I requested a refund so I could work with a different vendor. She told me she didn't do refunds. Lots of wedding vendors don't do refunds so I understood, but when I tried to find a contract/agreement, I realized I didn't have one on record. I asked her to provide a copy of it and she evaded the request. When I pressed, she tried to pull verbiage from a Privacy Policy, which, for those who don't know, only covers how companies manage your data when using their website, and twisted it (took it completely out of context) to tell me it was proof that if I used her website we were under contract, pretty slimy. The arrangements we received were actually quite nice, but that's easy to do with more premium flowers. The boutonnières looked nothing like what I requested. The eucalyptus was half bug bitten. The mums were all rotten - that's about 25 rotten flowers. And she did not give me the privot berries in my order. Really disappointed in the service I received from owner Melissa. Her lack of control, direction and communication are the reasons why my wedding party march at the venue and our final dance on video came out horrible. She also did not take the items we agreed she would at the end of the night. My family and friends had to help out. When asked about what happened, she simply blamed others and would not take responsibility for anything. No accountability and definitely no apologies from her. I would not recommend this company. For what I paid (it wasn't cheap) there are many other wedding planners out there that are much better. read more

I hired Botanika as the florist for my daughter's wedding. Buyer beware! The florist delivered flowers but at the end of the evening picked up the centerpieces that were purchased and claimed that only the flowers were purchased and and the rest of the centerpiece elements were rentals. Yet the sales invoice makes NO mention of a rentals. She actually tried to deliver the wilted flowers (two days after the event) which she separated from the centerpieces and claimed this is only thing we purchased. However the sales invoice says otherwise. This florist is listed as a preferred vendor at the McNay. Caution, just because they are "preferred " doesn't mean that they are honest. Check out references and make sure you get in writing what you will be getting. read more

My wife and I recently had an event at the Westin River Walk for my wife's baby shower. We had hired Botanika based on the recommended vendor list. Prior to the event her communication was great and assured us that everything would be taken care of. On the day of the event she was running behind and did not complete the backdrop decoration (main decoration for the event and focal point of the shower) for the stage. She never even informed us that should would not be able to get this done prior to the baby shower or even her setup time. When asked about the backdrop she said due to the weather she was not able to get it done. Similar to reviews she was not apologetic and did not offer any compensation for her downfall. Highly recommend NOT to use this vendor for any events. She absolutely ruined my wife's shower and what she was expecting. She should be removed from the Westin River Walk preferred vendor list. read more

I hired Melissa as a recommendation from the venue I had my wedding at, if you're considering hiring this florists don't do it! I was pretty specific as to what I wanted and did not want. I had a small wedding and only needed six centerpieces three boutonnieres and two nosegays or a single rose for a very small 50 people wedding. I wasn't at the venue when she dropped off the flowers The centerpieces for all the table came out nice and they were what I wanted although they were missing the bright colors that I had clearly requested. My bridal bouquet looked good in pictures but it's not what I wanted at all she was very unapologetic and defensive for everything she did and kept telling me how she rectified it which she didn't it was sloppy (flowers were falling out of my bouquet while I was taking photos how embarrassing) my husband's boutonniere didn't even have the flower that we discussed on it and it looked exactly like the fathers and boutonnieres which is not acceptable!! And when she first dropped the flowers off my bouquet flowers were wilted which she pulled them out and I added other flowers but it was still missing the bright pops of pink that I wanted!!! Also we're missing long ribbions we discussed A burgundy and a mauve of floorlength ribbon and showed up with a plastic burgundy short ribbon tied around it Flowers were really poor quality half of them were dead by the end of the night!! Felt that she was very unapologetic hostile and defensive for everything!! If I could go back I would not hire this woman do yourself a favor and look somewhere else! read more

I am so disappointed with this vendor. She was hired for our daughters wedding and she really dropped the ball!!! The rehearsal the day before should have been a good indication that thing weren't going to go well the day of. On the actual wedding day SHE SHOWED UP AN HOUR LATE!!!! Thing just spiraled down from here. The hydrangea flower bouquets that were for the bridesmaids and maid-of-honor were half dead!!!! The flowers were breaking off. There were pins sticking out and stabbing the girls. They were suppose to be pink and they were a green/purply color. When I asked her to fix them she got very upset. She shoved white hydrangeas in the bouquet. The brides bouquet was mostly hydrangeas and it had pins sticking out as well. The bouquet was to be sent to a company in Houston to be preserved. They can not preserve hydrangeas. My wrist corsage was a joke. It was half done and I didn't even wear it because all the metal and velcro that was exposed. The table floral was also half dead. She was totally unorganized throughout the entire day. When asked questions about anything she would answer with a really hostile attitude. Very unprofessional!!! The brides bouquet toss was the clincher. When it was time to throw the bouquet Melissa was informed that the brides sister was in the restroom and to please wait for the toss of the bouquet. Nope, she went on with the toss anyway. I let Melissa know that this was totally un-exceptable. This is something you can not redo. I would advise anyone thinking on using Melissa to reconsider. I do not want this horrible experience to happen to anyone else!!!!! read more
