I was talked out of going to Miami to go to Dewey Beach instead. And though B&C is no Miami Shore Club, it has its niche- to sufficiently quench my thirst and keep me satisfactorily entertained with its 80s cover bands. By about 4pm the party gets started. By 6pm there is a thin layer of beer cans covering the ground. By 8pm you float over to some thug bar in Dewey Beach like the Rusty Rudder, and by 9pm you're back at Bottle and Cork. read more

Great bands and great times once Jam Session gets fired up on Saturdays. There are also some back in the day bands that will play there as well. Used to be a really cool fun bar two years ago, went every weekend. Management/staff was nice. Now it's a total 180 so many problems, something must have changed. 1)Management and staff are mean. Saw a bouncer push a 50yr old woman who was completely sober, apparently in the way of an empty dance floor. 2)The cops have been called on the staff/owners every time I have been there. 3) cash only bar (would be fine if it was a must go place, but its experience is replaceable at any dicey bar you can't think of....even the locals are getting tired and boycotting) 4) Saw several older workers who were very clearly on drugs, yelling at younger workers. *Cash only Bottle & Cork means it's summertime in Dewey! Definitely go on Saturday to check out Jam Session where there's a bunch of bands in a sweaty mess of a venue. It's not a huge place and part of the roof is purposely exposed so you'll get some air flow but you're still going to be around sweaty people. When I say it's not a huge place, I mean it. There is 0% chance you will leave here w/o touching about 150 people. My advice? Embrace the situation for a few hours, grab an orange crush and make your way to the front of the pack and have a good time. It's loud so if you're interested in not having tinnitus for several days...bring earplugs :) If you want to get on stage...dress up in matching tshirts and pretend you're part of a bachelorette party. love the Bottle & Cork so much. They have the best live bands. The way they put on a show is like you are at a rock concert. Summer JAM is one of my favorite things and one of the best events I have ever been to. Drinks are great, especially, the crush drinks! Summer weekends you can hear the band playing in the street; this keeps the crowd waiting in line happy. Like the string of night life venues in Dewey Beach/Rehoboth Beach, many of the buildings connected outdoor. This is where the stage was. Nothing like listening to RATM under the stars. Dreamy. My Memorial Day weekend was considerably spent here. If I remember right, Mr. Green Jeans rocked the place Saturday night!!! The vibe was friendly. Best place for Jam Session during the July 4th weekend! Went there both Friday and Saturday during the July 4th weekend, the live band for both days were great, such fun atmosphere. They also had big projector showing the EuroCup match, it was great for me but maybe not so much for the band that was competing for the crowd's attention. This review is actually 2 reviews: First, this place gets 4 stars for a great weekend music lineup. Their Jam sessions allow someone to get in for $10 and enjoy 8 hours of bands - a definite deal, even if you are listening to the same 2 bands twice. I'm subtracting a star since they will not let patrons in with a bag and because the bouncers always pack the bar so that you can't move from one side to the other. Thankfully, as Michelle C. stated, the claustrophobic feeling is minimized by the outdoor section. However, the selection of beer is pitiful. I've been told that they are owned by the Rt. 1 Corporation that signed an exclusive deal with Anheuser Busch. Regardless of whether that is true or not, the only beers available are Budweiser products, Corona, and Heineken. They do have liquor available at their bar stations, but the convenience of purchasing a can from the daisey-duked girls passing through the crowd is hard to pass up. Went on a Saturday night in June. This place is FUN but you have to be in the mood for an adult frat party- smashed beer cans and cups everywhere, loud bumping music, and your fair share of creepers. Bottle & Cork - Saturday night in June - Music Venues Near Me - Dewey Beach, Delaware

I came in from out of town for a sold out show on a Tuesday. I will tell you the parking is an absolute nightmare. Their website says they have free parking but it's only about 10-12 spots which were all double parked. The restaurant next door says they give permits to park there if you ask but I asked and they said they stopped doing that years ago. You can get a daily parking pass from the Dewey beach visitors center which is around the corner but they close at 5! Luckily I found some metered parking about a block away. The venue itself is interesting. I can't speak for the bar because I didn't drink, but they do give free ice water! The show was sold out but there was still some space to move around and enjoy yourself. You're not packed in like sardine like some other places. Although you should know it's hot as hades inside there once the place fills up. It's pretty small and the ground is slanted so you can see from pretty much anywhere. The sound system was decent and I felt really close to the stage even though I was about halfway back. The doors for this particular show didn't open til 8 and the will call just happens when they open the door so make sure you bring your ID. read more

Great music, cool venue, cheap drinks, cash only. However, the previous reviews regarding the incredibly rude/overly aggressive staff are sadly very true. Had a really disgusting encounter with the male manager, probably in his fifties, long hair in a ponytail. I was with a crowd and given an unopened can of white claw that I assumed was purchased at the venue, and quite honestly I gave it no thought. The venue is massive and overly crowded, really hard to get a drink so I was happy to have a drink and not have to go wait in line. The manager saw me walk by him with the drink, and aggressively approached me saying that they don't sell the brand I was drinking at his establishment and accused me of bringing the drink in. There are bag checks at the front and I have 0 clue as to what alcohol brands this bar carries, so I didn't think I was doing anything wrong when I cracked open the white claw I was given. I politely apologized, told him I was given it out on the dance floor and wasn't aware. He screamed in my face, cursing like an absolute crazy person, calling me a liar then grabbed the can and threw it full force into a garbage can next to me. As a 30 something year old female, I have never been yelled at like that by ANYONE, let alone a manager of an establishment and I was floored, terrified and started actually trembling. Me and my group ended up leaving as it was very upsetting, and we chose not to continue to support a business who feels like they can treat their customers with such utter aggression and disrespect, let alone scream at a woman. And let's be real, a white claw is probably the least of your worries in a massive, insanely packed dive bar - your numerous reviews on yelp with pictures of female arms and wrists bruised and scratched by your bouncers are probably where you should invest your concern because that is absolutely sickening and just not ok on any level. Approach this place with caution, go elsewhere. There are a ton of great bars in Dewey and it's clear from talking to other people who have been to Bottle & Cork, and then reading reviews/threads online the staff here clearly feel a strong power hungry dynamic between themselves and the patrons, they do not appear to care how you are treated under their roof, and do not hesitate to utilize aggression. Meh. We felt a little teased after arriving at Bottle and Cork. The music that was playing as we entered was dance music and current. Within about 15-20 minutes of arriving, the live band came on stage and began a lower than average Motown cover. On top of that, the average age of the crowd seemed to be mid- to late 50s, so it was a much older crowd. Maybe we just went on an off Saturday night. On the plus side, the drinks were not unreasonably priced. I think I paid $5 for a rum and Coke, which is average-ish, and the bartender did not short change customers on the liquor from what I could tell. Service was good and fast. I hear that the venue is better at other times, but since I only visit the area occasionally, I do not know if I will make it back or not. read more

The bouncers are disrespectful and degrading to women. I totally understand that the bouncers have a hard job but the way they interact with and treat customers makes things worse. I was walking out of the bar with some girlfriends and one of the bouncers ripped a drink out of my girlfriends hand. We saw the large trashcans on the way out of the bar and figured that was the dumping point for our drinks so she was finishing it up up until an aggressive bouncer ripped it out of her hands. I went to turn around & say something to the gentleman but he did not like that I was approaching him. I remained nice and calm throughout the whole time until he started being verbally aggressive and flat out rude. He also aggressively grabbed his genital area and proceeded to flip me off. So I went to the Bottle and Cork on May 21st, 2017 to see The Struts. I was definitely excited for this show; I had been for a while. They were great. I've been to a couple of shows here before, and they do, to their credit, always seem to be on point with the talent that they acquire, which is THE ONLY REASON I am giving them the second star. It's actually a shame that the band was so good, because the atmosphere was absolutely deplorable. First off, they always do advance sales with a will-call list, with no tickets, and ID checks for your name. So basically, if you can't go, and want to sell your ticket, you can't, which is a bunch of crap. Not to mention their cash-only policy... it's the year 2017, I mean, come on... When I walked in, I went to hang out in my normal spot for this bar, which is a small bar located relatively close to the bathroom. I like it because I have a good vantage point for the show, I'm not usually too crowded, and the bartender is USUALLY friendly there, and might throw me an extra beer after the 3rd or 4th one I buy, especially if I tip well, which I ALWAYS do. None of this happened. First, I was constantly being passed by bouncers. It is a thoroughfare for people to get around the bar, and I expect that, and they're usually pretty cool about it, saying excuse me or whatever, but the bouncers would practically shove me out of the way to get by when there's nowhere for me to go. They were extremely pushy and incredibly rude about it. Furthermore, the beer prices have gone WAY up since the last time I was at this bar (sometime in 2015, I think), and they have gotten way too expensive for the area. I understand it's a beach resort area and prices are traditionally a little bit higher and all, but I've already paid 35 dollars just to get in the door. $6.00 for a 12 oz. can of Bud Light is extortion, period. I didn't even order anything with liquor in it, I can only imagine what these prices are like. So when the show ended, I decided to run out the door for a second to catch up with a friend that I'd seen, and we literally stood and talked for only about two minutes. Then, my plan was to head up the road back home. Before I did that, I wanted to run back in the bar to use the restroom. Mind you, it's only 11PM, and bars don't close until 1AM. I show my wristband and keep on walking, only to be met with a forceful hand to my chest from a bouncer, saying "we're closing." I calmly explained that (a) I only had to use the restroom and then I would be leaving, and (b) there are clearly still about 200 people standing around inside the bar. I then watched the bouncer next to him allow a girl to pass with no consequence. I asked, politely, why I was being denied entry to the bar. He said, "we don't allow people back in who are visibly intoxicated," and I was CLEARLY not intoxicated at all. I explained how I couldn't possibly be intoxicated, as no one without a six-figure salary can AFFORD to be intoxicated at this establishment. So, I had to drive somewhere else just to USE THE BATHROOM, which is absolutely absurd. I was absolutely appalled. Overall, I would just say that this bar needs to do a serious overhaul of how their employees treat people. The bouncers are incredibly rude, pushy, unpleasant, and inconsistent, and cannot tell the difference between stone cold sober (which I basically was, the $6.00 Bud Light was my only drink of the evening, after seeing those prices), and visibly intoxicated (which the girl who was let back in clearly was). The bar staff is indifferent, not friendly or unfriendly, which is crazy considering how much they can usually make in a summer down there. However, these are the only bartenders I've ever met who will actually call you out for not tipping, which is a crock of crap and incredibly unprofessional. I was half tempted to tell this person to take their tip out of the price of that $6.00 Bud Light. The shot girls walking around with Jell-O shots looked unpleasant and barely smiled, they just acted like this was a bother and a chore for them. I understand that they're working incredibly hard and must be tired, but this is still a customer-oriented industry. Everyone working at this bar, top to bottom, felt that they could treat their customers any way they pleased, which is not a good business model. Everyone that worked at places around the town kept warning us to stay away from here, especially on a Saturday...and wouldn't you know it, we ended up here on a Saturday night. We walked up the bouncer and he told us we couldn't bring in our inflatable penis (bachelorette party), which I kind of predicted but at the same time, why? It didn't make any sense, mostly because nothing about that place was sanitary or safe, so what difference does a little inflatable penis make? But whatever! A passerby overheard the bouncer telling us no, and gave us $20 for him so we let him go. So we walked in, and the floor is coated in a thick layer of...life? It was sticky and disgusting, I had on a long dress and even though I was trying to hold it up, it was destroyed within minutes of being there. Several of our group wanted to leave not 2 minutes into getting in but we stuck around for a tiny bit. The bartender made me a fruity drink that barely had any alcohol in it. We watched the band for a few minutes, who was really good...but we were assailed by so many disgusting slimy men that thought it was okay to touch us at any given moment. So many creepers were standing on the outside of our group, very obviously trying to find a way in, and we were so uncomfortable. But the final straw was one drunk man who was bald with a face drawn on his head. No introductions, just came right up to me and started thrusting his slimy head into my butt. i tried to laugh it off cuz i didn't want to be "that girl" but i wasn't okay with being touched. Then came the kicker...same baldie, after a few minutes of finally starting to enjoy myself, he tapped me on my shoulder and asked if I wanted to "see a sperm whale". I said no quite a few times, I didn't know what that was and didn't think it could mean anything good from the state the guy was in....I was right. He ignored my protests and chugged his entire beer, got down on one knee and sprayed it all over us, soaking us in saliva/beer/herpes mix. We all got very angry and almost threw our drinks on him but were waiting for the bouncers to kick him out...AND THEY DIDN'T!! A bouncer (looked like a baby to be honest) just walked up and stood next to him, without saying a word. I said okay well then screw this and threw my drink down and left. read more

I was here as part of a group trip to Dewey. For a shore bar, the Bottle & Cork is definitely way different from anything going on at the South Jersey beach towns, but it didn't really do anything to make me love or hate the place. It's cool that the stage is so big and the venue itself is partially indoors/partially outdoors. That makes the place seem less claustrophobic. On the other hand, there wasn't anything to get super excited about. If I were to return to Dewey, I'd probably check out the other bars instead. read more

Don't worry about showering or primping - come as you are because you will get the sweat shower of your life. People are in bathing suits and tank tops and you get slammed into your neighbor when Mr. Greengenes or Burnt Sienna starts in with some Bon Jovi cover. Some of the supposed negative things I have read about this place are true but are part of this classic venues charm. It is 75 years old, so certainly if you're looking for a modern dance club, this is not it....if you are a music fan and can appreciate a venue that still books live bands and national acts, then this place rocks. It is half indoor and half outdoor with trees growing out of the concrete courtyard floor. This is part of the bars ambience. I have seen some amazing shows here over the years like The BoDeans, English Beat, Grace Potter, Robert Randolph, The Fixx and many more. This place is a piece of Americana and I could care less what the bathrooms look like or how long the lines are. This is unpretentious and part of what makes Dewey a great beach town unlike the cheesy Jersey shore. read more

Make sure you get in line right before 3pm at Bottle & Cork or you're not getting in! The bands usually go on at 5pm and rock the night away. We were here over Memorial Day in 2011for live music and day drinking... enough said. The crowd is awesome and belligerent, the music was good, and the vibe was stellar. Minus one very big star for the fact that it's a cash bar and there is only one ATM which makes for the longest line ever and seriously detracts from precious drinking time. I recently visited and the bouncer repeatedly bent my ID until it creased and snapped part way, then he let me in. I complained at the front however, I was not treated kindly and just dropped it. The last time I went I was hit in the face with a chunk of ice that the bartender was trying to lob at the guy next to me for reaching over the bar. I totally agree with comments about the security staff. I personally did not have any issue but I witnessed people were being removed for ridicules reasons. This one girl was kicked out because she bought shots and was handing them out the people around her. Because of this she was kick out before the band, that she just paid 28.00 to see came on. This other person was jumping around to the song playing air guitar and three bouncers came to surround him stating he was cut off because he was drunk.... So they would like for you to pay to see band and spend $ but do NOT have fun or you are harassed. The Bottle & Cork is the best place to see a band in Dewey Beach. Half of the place is open air which adds to the fun on great nights during the summer. A great list of bands play here throughout the summer and the sound quality is above average. As an added bonus, waitresses will walk around during the performance(s) and sell beer so you don't have to navigate the crowd back to the bar. I can't believe all the negative reviews about this place! Jam sess on Saturdays is a Dewey beach institution!! So much fun. Yes it's crowded and you might get spilled on and it can be sweaty (that's why j wear a bathing suit) but that's the fun of it! Always have an amazing time. Great bands! Yes beer can be a bit expensive but again it's the beach! It's to be expected. I've taken many friends who usually frequent the Jersey Shore and they all love it. Bottle & Cork is a dive... Low class, standing on your feet for hours No seats... looks like inside of someone's garage.. Ladies don't wear heels... Entertainment is above average only thing I can recommend.
